    I love the short harmonic arp and bassline piece at the end.

    Genius patching for rumbling bass! I was able to get some incredible results with Behringer's K-2. One thing about the K-2 that's nice is that has a clean Filter 2 that doesn't generate any noise. Filter 1 on it sounds similar to your MS-20 mini.

      I am actually glad Korg used the first filter version in the mini and not the later one - but to have both is of corse even better! I think Korg integrated both also in the MS20 FS version...

    “So, that’s a bit much and brings the VCA to its limits and it starts to distort quite heavily“ ........... which is totally awesome!! :). Thanks for posting this video. One of these days I'm going to patch something into that ESP...

      Absolutely! My favorite part of the video are the sounds accomplished from that patch at 9:35! Such a cool fluid effect that isn't quite the same with very miniscule knob turns on the LPF. I also have a Behringer K-2, and I'm certainly going to give some of these patches a try.
      Thanks for the video. First time I've come across your channel or and of your videos. Decided to subscribe 👍😁
      And actually a modify my initial statement (since I was typing this as the video was style playing); I love the bass sounds at 9:35, but that very last patch (composition) you made was absolutely fantastic! I had to rewind and listen several times!

    Gracias! increíble video. Pensaba comprar un Moog para bajos, pero el MS20 tiene un sonido increíble. Saludos!

    This is great 👍🏻 thanks for sharing!!! ... not too many videos go deep inside the patching on the Ms20 ... the way you explain it is awesome... wish you go into other samples in the future

    Beautiful ending… for months I’ve had my sq1 connected to my nts-1… this weekend I’m rewiring it… it’s going into the holy grail of the ms20

    I'm rapidly finding on my Korg Nautilus that the MS20(ex) has become really useful for basslines that I thought were impossible. Once you patch it through IFX to spatialize it out a bit, you can get some really great sounds coming through.. This teamed up with the Polysix(ex) are really quite unstoppable.
    Thanks for the useful guide. 👍

    Ok, but don't forget that the auto oscillating filter is a full sinusoidal and connecting the kytrack to the full input of the sound achieves and can do all the most iconic kicks and thumps or sub basses in electronic music at high volume. (such as minimoo, sh101, polyvolks, Crumar DS-2).
    Great video, thank you.

    You can keyboard track the pitch of self oscillating ext in (kind of) by patching kbd cv out to control input of vca and instead of patching directly from ext out to ext in, lead it to vca in, and then from vca out to ext in. This way you track the volume of self oscilating feed which in return changes the self oscillation pitch. I believe it's reverse but interesting anyway, especially if you use it as fm modulator for "real" oscillators. Great video btw.

    • @synthesizer83
      @synthesizer83  3 роки тому +3

      Thanks for mentioning this patch! I actually left it out because tracking is reverse and quite nonlinear. I'll try that for fm as you suggest!

    You can take thit even further by re-patching the output through *another*, more buttery/less resonant filter externally. The combination of the classic screachy 12dB/Oct Sallen-Key in the MS20 is a pretty hard topography to get "out of" but I love combining filter types, and thes filter has so much character that it would contribute to wholly unique patches in a "base" sound before another smoother type filter 🤤.

    Excellent to discover 2nd env plus 2 more LFO on MS20 (and one is very well hidden under external in !). Thank you very much. I wonder what effects you use for this nice delay and reverb.

      Hi! I used the Strymon El Capistan for delay & reverb. This is one of those gadgets that turn nearly every incoming sound into gold haha

    how is the sq1 changing what pads are lit up on there own? like at 10:39 only the first two top left are lit then 4 more light up and then all of them are lit?

    • @synthesizer83
      @synthesizer83  5 місяців тому

      Actually its some camera-shutter related effect messing with the iluminated pads, so in reality they don't change by their own and there is also no way to make them do so.

    • @synthesizer83
      @synthesizer83  Рік тому

      Sometimes it does. But in most cases, when you use the MS20 in the "normal range" of settings, you don't really notice it.

      @@synthesizer83 I find the noise bleed from the vca just a charming aspect. It’s a dirty sounding machine if you want sterile sounds buy a Roland .

    I have an MS20m and I get no white noise from the initial patch with filters and both VCO mixers turned all the way down. It just might be an issue with the mini.

    • @synthesizer83
      @synthesizer83  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks for testing that! Perhaps noise and vca circuits sit too close together in the mini...

    • @edwardprue
      @edwardprue 3 роки тому +2

      Indeed, there is a documented difference there, which basically boils down to "MS-20 Mini is noisy just like the original MS-20, and MS-20M is not". A nice difference, since you have noise on the patch panel instead of hard-wired into the signal chain - because at some point, you definitely want noise! 😁

    • @nivac5227
      @nivac5227 10 місяців тому

      It's an issue with MS-20 rev 1 filter. You can hear the same noise in the blackboard MS-20. MS-20 M and FS versions have both filters.
