Welcome to another week of trying to get our boat ready, and taking some pretty harsh realities of what it's like to live and travel the World from a sailboat. And because it's not been beaches and margaritas, we thought that we would share those realities with you!
There is so much more that no one tells you about when getting into sailing as a lifestyle, and those points were the ones I thought about as I was filming this video, but I could easily make a part two.

"Written in the sand at low tide." My new favorite quote!
Good on you guys for talking about this stress and the mental health impacts. Great to see you persisting, but don't forget, no one will judge you if you take a break for a while.
I just did :) there was no video last week 😅
Those few who would be judgemental are not worth worrying about. In the words of John D. McDonald's Meyer, "Scroom."
I'm sorry. I really believe I would come to hate the sailing lifestyle.
@@RyanSophieSailing Have you considered one of those 50/50 ownership plans on a new cat. Where the charter company pays for half, and uses it for half the year, maintaining it and giving you an income that usually covers your half of the mortgage, and then you use it for the other six months. I would think it would be less stress, you get to travel and live on land more, a home base, and sail for 5 to 6 months. It seem to me that would fit your lifestyle better than fulltime liveaborad. Just my 2cents.
Refreshingly realistic. Our world has been put in the blender this decade and personally I get a lot out of the escape and variety of sailingtube. Being candid about your mental health and how you both cope just brings your channel into a very relatable focus. I look forward to your videos, at whatever frequency keeps you thriving!
I have found that attitude is everything. I spent today repairing my dishwasher in my house. Earlier this year it was the washing machine and before they the water heater. Could use a new roof and some electrical work too. No matter what you own it will need maintenance and repair.
I always enjoy listening to you, Sophie! Safe travels ❤️
Thank you for this great video. It’s so easy as a newbie live-aboard to get caught up in the UA-cam fantasy of tropical perfection. Hearing you and Ryan talk about how there are tons of ways to be a sailor has made such a difference for us. ❤
Sofie, such a complex topic, Mental Health has taken on a whole new meaning in recent years for us. We truly appreciate your candid appraisal and only hope those stressful moments do not change your engaging personality. We love you so much for sharing this episode and pray future video's include more personal qualified excerpt's. Nice to see the head project was solved and all is going in the right direction.
Thank you! That was a great video, we’ve only just started our liveaboard journey (on a little 28ft Etap) and you have made us both feel so much better about how we’ve been feeling recently x
Thank YOU!!! Your comment means I now can face whatever happens in the comment section 🥹
Love and respect to you both! Super tough topics and reality checks and I’m grateful that you bring them up and share your experience. Hold onto the passion with one hand while you battle the shit(hose) with the other and we’ll keep cheering and being part of the long-distance support team!
Great to have another video from you. Mental health is very important to talk about, so we thank you for that! What I have learned after a long life with sailboats is just like anything else in life, always be one step ahead. Having planned and done as much as possible during the winter break. Otherwise, all the work comes after launching, when you want to go out sailing.
Fair winds! ❤❤❤
Thank you for perhaps the most honest, sailing UA-cam, video in existence!
Really appreciate the honesty and the insight into your extraordinary lives. Merci!
I'd love to see a video about how living on board impacts a relationship. I bet the answer is that it greatly improves it or expedites the break-up. They say putting a couple in a locked hotel room with no TV or other distractions except for ordering and receiving meals for 24 to 72 hours or more is the best way to get them to confront and rationally talk thru and untangle issues they'd been avoiding discussing for years - which ends up clearing the air and helping to reunite them as a couple.
I'm always so conscious to discuss what life onboard is like for a relationship, because we are by no mean perfect! It's very much a work in progress onboard Polar Seal :p But I also recognize that no one really talks about it, so I'll try to make it happen this year :)
I've said marriage magnifies elements of a relationship. I suspect small space living is the same - if something about your partner annoys when you are there for 2 hrs, then try coping with 24hrs a day in a small space.
Man you guy's have done a shit (pun intended) load of work and put in with a lot of shit. But seriously..thank you for sharing the truths. A great video. Happy sailing.
We soooo relate to all of this. We completed a two-year refit and many times thanked our lucky stars that we were not on the boat (aka, construction zone) for that time. Great episode. Thanks for always keepin' it real!
Thank you for your honesty. You comments ring true.
Love how you ended your session with why you actually sail and how you manage your lifestyle. ❤
Thank you for the fantastic openness and honesty!! ❤❤
You guys are fantastic. I love your open honesty and willingness to share the truth about this lifestyle. ❤
One of the best, honest, funny and most rewarding episode that I have watched in a long time - on any ssiling channel. Thank you!
Awesome video, really enjoyed it.
Just amazing!!
Amazing plan to sail Erie, just post very detailed videos all along the way.Thank you and wishing you happy times in your new adventure.
Great video!
Sophie, you are such a good communicator. Once again a really personalised informative video. Well done.
Thank you for a very useful vid. Commend you on your honesty, and especially your bravery around self-management for mental health care.
I applaud your discussion of mental health issues and the challenges in gaining access to effective treatment as you move around. As a psychologist and sailor, I can understand the need for such support, as anxiety and stress can be constant companions with such an activity. The issue of licensing and restrictions on who can see whom in what area/location is certainly a challenge. Good luck with all of your preparations! Hope to see you in Canada sometime.
Brilliant video. Thank you so much.
I appreciate your honesty✌️💜
This was a great video. Everyone should watch this before taking on a nomadic lifestyle. Hugs to you both.
I wish I could thumbs up this video a hundred times, thank you SO much for sharing this side of things and being the Sophie we love, the person who tells it like it is, but somehow always still manages to be entertaining and educational - not sure how you manage that alchemy, but good on you. As a new cruising sailor (we bought our boat 9 months ago, full time liveaboards for 6 months so far) the mental health aspects of sailing were the one thing I did not bargain for and the part that might have us leave the lifestyle sooner than planned if they don’t improve (due to a very unfortunate incident of an unattended boat dragging into us on our literal first night at anchor I have anchor anxiety to work through and my husband is struggling with the weight of the responsibility to keep all systems safe and running, he’s great at it, don’t get me wrong, it’s just the constant “on-ness” that’s getting to us). We also have had to deal with 6 months of intense boat work to get our girl ready to go despite thinking we bought a “turn key” boat - oh silly, naive past us, there is no turn key, problem free boat, you just pick which problems you’d prefer. So we’ve only actually had less than a month of the fun part, the cruising, despite spending WAY more money than anticipated (said 6 months of boat work has blown the yearly budget in 6 months despite us doing 99% of the work ourselves); so we’ve set September as our re-assessment time, to see, if after 3 full months of the reef and the fun part, that we still think it’s worth, on balance, the really quite intense cost, both monetarily and personally. Anyway this became a bit of a personal situation dump, but was supposed to be a “yay you’re awesome, we totally get where you’re coming from” post so I’ll stop typing now and get back to waxing, because hot damn is there a lot of surface area on a catamaran (even on a “small” 38ft one).
Edit: just finished the video and I needed to add, you sharing this makes those of us out here and struggling feel seen and not like we’re crazy, because let’s be honest, while our land-based friends and family are wonderful, they don’t actually know what it’s really like to live on a sailboat and when we share our struggles I can sometimes feel a bit alone with them, like no one really understands, like we’re just “weak” for struggling in what was our dream life. Your video makes me feel less alone and less like a failure for not being brilliantly happy all the time (as some people on land expect us to be as we clearly must be sipping cocktails on an island beach 24/7…🙄)
The honesty is so refreshing. We get the feeling that you are real people with real problems, not just a lot of contrived click bait!
Great video! Enjoy your take on life!
You speak the truth!
I love this video. All the best.
I saw Polar Seal sailing out of Galesville/West River today. Boat looked great, good luck with your travels this summer.
Sophie your vocabulary is really good. I am always amased how good your english is. It was a great episode! thank you.
Aaaah thanks! sometimes I am very conscious of my English and it is nice to hear that it comes through OK :) Thanks!
a great episode. And very realistic
Great to hear your true opinion about boat life. Maybe not always charming but every now and then very rewarding.
Just like you, I love being on the water, sailing, exploring new places, meeting new people, and personal growth. However, there is one key difference: after two or three weeks of chartering, I reach a point where I've had enough and prefer to return to land :-) Having a larger living space, being close to family are also essential for my overall well-being. Fortunately, my job allows me to experience the joys of meeting new people, traveling, and confront myself with new challenges on a daily basis. I guess having this perfect mix in my life is what makes it work for me. Doesn't mean i sometimes don't daydream of a more permanent life on the water. Thx. a lot posting these video's, they are inspirational and fun to watch.
We moved aboard our boat a year ago and started a small youtube channel with regular videos. I completely agree with you guys on the points made. So much work is done behind the scenes to keep the boat up and running, trip planning, provisioning, Camera work, editing, cleaning, maintenance (both regular and unplanned). Mental health also cannot be forgotten in this equation as you are constantly thinking, planning, solving. High highs and low lows do exist, youtube videos often do not show this.
Taking time ashore and exploring the places you visit is also key to ensuring a healthy balance, and remembering why we do this.
Fantastic content, almost FF at the point I thought you were going to the advertising mental health, thank you for the honesty. This is good to hear, it's much harder than it looks and "PLANS" never seem to work out as planned, I'm learning to plan...then just go with what comes next during that time.....leki boat work.
Dear Ryan and Sophie, as always Lillian and I enjoy and appreciate your postings, both your humour and your candour. Yes, the confines of your/our yacht can exacerbate issues particularly when combined with failures on the boat and limited access to support immediately when out on the water. What has sustained us at times when tempers are close to being frayed is the underlying foundation of knowing that we love and care for each other and the humility to apologise when things may have gotten the better of us. Unfortunately for me, being a psychologist doesn’t insulate me from human failure but Lilly’s forbearance is often the salve that heals. Getting Barnacle was a great idea as dogs are great therapists providing unconditional positive regard. Hang in there and know that you’re loved from afar here in Australia. Rod & Lill
Wow, well said
"What you mean 'kind of'?" is a good quote
About the mental health discussion I think you keep doing it in a really responsible way. The internet is full of scams and is good to hear from you that a service so recommended for productivity channels is trouble. Dodging it.
You're doing amazing keep the pace but in your own rhythm.
Cheers from Brasil. 😃
Groovy episode. Sofie, you are a gas.
YUP! There are mental and emotional challenges in every Walk of Life. Meanwhile I live and sail year-round in Annapolis and loved seeing all the filming here. Sorry I never ran across you or your friends at Tula. Just finished watching their Seawind vid. Can't wait to see you up and running on the wawa!
"maybe on the outside"
I feel ya Ryan. Lol
But, you do seem a little more chill about the boat BS these days. 😅
I'm in the middle of my very first haul out and your observations about taking twice as long really resonated. That was very helpful - hearing that has put the stress I'm feeling in the context of the reality of owning my first sailboat (38' Ericson, thank you.) So, I'll head over to the yard today, take a deep breath, and do the best not to scream at the guy working on my boat. 😂
A wise man once told me he did not have sailing plans but rather sailing ideas!! Great video!!
Exactly!!! I love it :) We have "ambitions" and "goals", but we are also realistic and when something doesn't pan out... it's alright :) we still have a great time!
Thank you so much for your frank and open discussion. You have been one of the sources of inspiration for me to join my husband in our own sailing journey, we started watching you because of your Swedish flag 😀 My own recent truth has been that you can't wait for the boat to be 100% ready before you cast off, or you will never leave. We have friends who also said to toss out our lists, sort of like your comment on either having a plan or being happy. Fair winds and hope you get on the open water soon!
So agree!
To hopefully aviod blocked sh#t plumbing i fluch the lavitory pipes with vinegar regularly, it desolves the hard chemical build up. I will upgrade to a freshwater system when i get the chance.
Being Happy best choice!!
Brilliant!!
Much love!
And you Sophie u are really cute!
Hahaha, I so much enjoyed this episode because it is so true. Something needs to be fixed, all the time. The forcast almost never is accurate so we are soon planing on using Darts on a weather map because that will probably be as accurate as the forcasts. But for us it is still worth it. You just need the find your state of mind to be in the moment because having specific plans is just an illusion. The only control you have is to let go of the need of controlling every moments . You get there when you get there where ever there is. Stay safe, keep on sailing.
Your video is thought-provoking. I thought that I might be able to share some perspective. As a homeowner, I can assure you that the grass is not always greener: appliances break and need to be replaced. We had a drought last year where some trees and shrubs died and need to be replaced. Then, there are expensive property taxes to be paid and lawns to be mowed. Also, friends and family can and do move away to get married or take new jobs or go to school, etc. What sometimes feels like chaos is not necessarily unique to sailing. Some of it is just living life. I wish you both health and happiness. Oh, by the way, there are some excellent books on mental health. Oftentimes, you can pick them up for less than $30 or even $20. (Used are cheaper yet, and library books are free.) Seriously, for $30 you can purchase an excellent book, journal, and a pen that you can access anytime without needing a car or internet connection. Here are a couple: Build the Life You Want and How to Heal Yourself. For $30 you can obtain care worth $3,000 or more.
Great video. I imagine if sailing life was easy, it might get boring after a while. Point well taken about not trying to follow a plan all the time.
Our not favorite job toilet pipes 😢 we have found its easier to just replace the pipes, other wise it's the worst job with the worst smell 😂 ❤
This December 1st will mark our 10 year anniversary of living full time on a sailboat but not necessarily cruising (a mono for 7 years and now our cat Hahalua) . We have taken a month off maybe three times during that period and we did take almost a year off and lived aboard in a marina near Key West. We usually also find a place to stay put during hurricane season. These short stops from mid-august to about mid-october are when we focus on our boat to-do list, although we may take a week or two and go visit relatives or take a cruise (yes, a big boat cruise). I can't speak about the therapy component of your video but you did well describing the biggest mental challenge we have experienced which is the constant movement from place to place (the irony) and the constant decision making which has caused our fair share of marital disagreements.
would love to go see you guys in nova scotia when you get there this summer keep us posted on your plans we live in new brunswick half hour from nova scotia . we enjoy your videos
Hi Ryan & Sophie!, it was nice to meet you guys in Ikea :)
Looking forward to buying a boat and sailing. Happy to hear that the biggest problems outside of weather and pandemics describe my life as is lol
You are beautiful when you are honest, and I like your hairdo. I am a veteran of the war in Viet Nam and understand the need for therapy. I have been 10 years trying to fix some things about myself and it works…… slowly. Don’t give up the waves are calling and I am watching
Very Nice Sophie a accurate account of life on a sailboat. I appreciate you telling the truth and being honest. Being misanthropic I have no problems with being away and out of touch and contact friends and family. As far as a schedule I have always thought that that leave us to be disappoint so I have practiced a life of no schedule. with exception of doctor appointment and such. everything else if it happens as far as timing goes so be it other wise if it does not happen enjoy the day anyway. Life is far too short to concern oneself with things out of their control. Boat problem are a real factoid as no one is immune from solving them. Jim Rodgers
Good for you Sophie for dicussing about Metal Health, having to have to deal with kids who have mental health issues of various kinds. Great Stay Brave!
By watching your videos I have come to realize that Owning a Boat is like owning a RV that floats !!!
10 years ago my partner (now wife) and I moved onto the boat, about 3/4 time. I declared I knew I could do it for a year, but it became my/our lifestyle and eventually even my semi-retirement job. It was very much a "project boat" and it was a long, slow, and definitely secondary process outfitting it. We couldn't have done it without also having our house, not on a 32 foot boat. And we would have had to sacrifice so many other things that you mention as part of a good life balance. You have really done an excellent job with this video, so thanks. Not for me, 'cause I've lived it for 11 years, but for others who are considering it or newly navigating it. I'm sure it will help a lot of people.
Your honesty is appealing, I get off my coastal cruiser 3 months each year, cash flow is always on my mind but am holding up because my repairs are successful, It would be horrid if it were not, I do most of my repairs at anchor, but right now can't remember what the attraction was that attracted me to this life style. But I am older, you hang in there.
Hahaha :D We call those "sell-the-boat days", and we have them on occasion. When we can't find appeal in living on a boat anymore, we'll sell her, but for now we are looking forward to exploring more of the World :)
I get it, I have a boat and it’s work. It costs money and I have headaches. I have home and it’s a lot of work in a different way. It appears you have the drive to be on a boat and I congratulate you. Do what it takes to maintain your dreams and your health. If it isn’t fun I believe it’s ok to change things up. Hang in there.
I've been your subscriber for 2 years
LMAO when you said”Memorial Day and everyone is sailing their boats and I’m beating my shit tube!”
You certainly have a way with words!! Love you!
Usually during the week of Labor Day, a storm hits New England, either remnants of a hurricane or a local gale. It's when the transition to fall weather kicks on. At the least there will be sizable swells then. Of course, not every year, but . . I suggest you plan to be near a safe anchorage during the first week of September. After about September 15 is when the best cruising weather starts here, and is when people head south.
Oh. So true. 😢
I don't have helpful advice around this, but in solidarity I wanted to comment that I also live a nomadic lifestyle, traveling around the USA as part of a Broadway Musical touring company, and we all have the exact same trouble finding therapy. It's a real problem for sure. So frustrating.
Right?!!! It IS a thing! We’ve recently taken time to go back to therapy and omg, so grateful for the time and space we created to take care of ourselves…
Hahaha! Funny but sad but true! Anyone who spends much time on a boat is sooner or later going to deal with a sewage issue. I always recommend to anyone who’s buying a used boat that they just go ahead and replace all the sewage lines, duck valves etc with new stuff. You’ll still have to deal with it eventually but at least you can push it out into the future somewhere.😊
“Boat yoga breaks you.” Sophie quote. Barnacle looks interested.
Recognizing one is the prime generator or originator of one's own temporary or long term unsustainable pressure is key to being able to safely and responsibly relieve that pressure. Sometimes we have to rack and stack the pressure points and then flex our goals. I did not learn that lesson until I had two heart attacks. Enjoy the Chesapeake Bay. I'm going to watch you no matter where you are.
Thank you Thank you Thank you for this video! So refreshing to get some real talk! Way to go 👍
Were a 42 Vagabond on our way north, and recently left Block Island. Do We go to nova Scotia, Marthas Vinyard, Nantucket, Cape Cod or straight to Maine? We shall see, my husband would love to just drift in the wind but i need something a little more conctrete, so we’ll see. Heard of your plans and would love to maybe cross paths with you guys up North one day, you never know 😊Ill keep the wine ready and the beer chilled just in case 🤔 Good luck moving into the boat and sailing north!
Congratulations Sophie! your English has improved so much......
English Teacher.
My first thought was to soak that pipe in some high power vinegar
Then I remembered an old sailing instructor saying to always dump the extra oil and vinegar salad dressing down the toilet. Vinegar for the deposits and oil for the hoses and seals.
I lived on a 24' sailboat with a coal-burning stove in Boston with my wife full time for three years in my late 20's. The first year aboard was 1976, the Bicentennial of the United States, a wonderful year. The second winter aboard was the the coldest winter in 50 years, with Boston harbor freezing over so thickly that you could stand on the ice next to the boat in the slip in Lewis Wharf. The third year aboard saw the blizzard of 1978 (epic, look it up). We spent an entire month wandering through Eastern Maine after Labor Day, and it was the most relaxed I have ever been in my life. No schedule, just see which way the wind was blowing every day and decide that morning where you would go that day. Lots of the downsides you accurately describe in this video. Lots of hardships and discomfort. But lots of joy and special moments. I would not have traded it for ANYTHING. Thank you for sharing.
Yup, exactly... Lots of hardships and discomfort... but the result is SO worth it. High cost high reward! :)
I admire your courage to talk about a need many have but is wrongly viewed as taboo. Best wishes.
First time on your channel. Thank you for being candid.
I'm thinking of buying a boat. But I don't like fixing things. Nor working in constraint spaces.
So, I haven't decided.
When we are tired of our own boat, we sail “OPB”, “Other People’s Boats” ;) chartering a few weeks a year can also help you reflecting on wether boat ownership is worth it or not. We put together a course for aspiring cruisers, I think it could give you food for thoughts! :)
It would have been a great trip, that route to Canada and thru Quebec to the Maritimes.... just not this year. You would have been eating forest fire smoke for months.
You guys have dodged a bullet... sometimes even though it does not seem so at the time ... everything works out for the best.
I enjoyed this weeks video. Accidentally I have been a subscriber since episode #1. Thanks.
Just we are stuck in Palma de Mallorca because of the gear box problems. For I don’t know how long. On our trip to Canaries … And many others issues all the way long. So I understand 100%
It is certainly not all champagne sailing! Well done for highlighting some of the stresses and working through them. Remember. Breathe.....
Boat Yoga. Yes! And wait until you get a little older like me. Alas in the tight spots Boat Yoga becomes Boat Torture. 😂. Just ask retired boat yard workers. Thanks for the wonderful video. We are based in New England and own a small marina. It is usually full and I rarely take transients. But if a spot is open and you are visiting southern Maine we can DM to discuss. No charge. Wishing you safe and amazing travels this summer whenever and wherever you go! The coast and coves of Maine are awesome.
Great video! I love you guys! Any chance you could share who you guys are using for therapy?
Oh...by the way...at 13:59 - please attach a float to your keychain!! I know first hand about this...and when (not 'if') the keychain falls into the water at the dock that will ruin the rest of your day.
This has to be one of your best videos ever. I absolutely love “ boat yoga kills “. As you know I do this for a living and I am doing a restoration on my Ron Amy Landfall 39’.
I was laughing so hard watching.
Oh by the way I’m not sure if self reporting to the EPA is quite the same as self reporting to the FAA. You should probably ask Ryan if the EPA and DEC are as warm and loving government agency as the FAA.
As a sufferer of generalized anxiety disorder, I can't imagine the challenges you face to find and maintain consistent, beneficial therapy. Hang in there!!!!
And for those of us who haven't led pampered, sheltered lives...
What you are describing is just Tuesday for most of us.
”Boat Yoga will destroy you.”
I concur. But still do it for a living. Why I strive for simplicity with my own boats.
truly I don't care to hear a lot about therapy. also truly I wish you and Ryan the very best, admire you both greatly and want you both healthy and happy.
Thanks for such an honest view of boat life. Every parent of a teenager will be showing this video to their kids who all think that playing games on UA-cam is a guaranteed way to become a millionaire overnight!
That was a lot of fun Sophie! You can bring fun to the mundane!
Since you ( apparently) took the winter off from boat work do you think you should have tried to do some work during winter? Cheers Warren
"Banging the sh!tpipe" 😂 What a metaphor for living on a sailboat 😂
That thumbnail though, ☠️☠️☠️!!
Seriously, I think UA-cam has done a pretty good job providing content creators like you a platform to tell the WHOLE story (or at least as much of it as you can pack into a 20-30 minute video, lol!!) of the realities of a cruising life. I think folks get that it isn’t always bikini babes and Mai-Tai’s on the beach at sunset but that even with the low-lows… the high-highs still make it all worth doing. Well done, youse two!!
We replaced that pipe at the end of 2021. But our toilet gets more use than most toilets onboard. Just the way it is!
Too bad! it would have been nice to see you guys in Quebec City... never the less, be sure to stop by Newport RI and the surroundings, amazing place to sail, not to mentioned Block Island, Cape Cod, etc... certain you'll love it... et vive le plaisir des bateaux!
We left Annapolis Wednesday direct to Stonington conn
It will be tough to get to Canada unless you do a couple of overnights one time it took almost three weeks if you want to enjoy Maine then you have to come back
I have a Hinckley 49 which is a motor sailor So I usually make 8 knots
But your description is accurate Sorry about the head it sucks literalky
On your trip north, you need to Visit the Saint John and take a trip up the St. John river. It's called the Rhine of the North and is spectacular. You start by transiting the "reversing falls rapids", it's slack twice a day. Once past that you can travel for days on this beautiful inland water system. I would be happy go give you a tour! We are next door to Nova Scotia and it would be more than worth the side trip. Hope to see you this summer!
What a fun tip! Unclear if we'll make it to the North side of Nova Scotia, but it does look like a cool place to go :)
@Ryan & Sophie Sailing when do you plan to be in Nova Scotia, we are heading to Halifax the last 2 weeks of July.
@@johnmcbriarty2165 we’re waiting to see what the situation with the fires is :/ but we’re hoping to be around Nova Scotia before July :)
How I have planned the hours for a repair. Estimate my time, double it and add 25%. Generally right on target. As for wait times on parts, you have to know where to go and how will get it done for you fast … 30 years of experience pays off.
Please add the closed captioning feature. I am deaf sailing gal. Thanks ❤
I normally do! This one was a very last minute upload and I didn’t have the time to add cc, but if you come back tomorrow, it will be here :)
Thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Every year at launch and haul the boat is sold. Lol. But when it’s done it’s enjoyable
I’m lucky to sail with my husband/best friend/soulmate. The good thing about life in lockdown was getting used to being together 24/7 (in our house and garden). Good training for living aboard on a 32ft yacht. We are still landlubbers as our youngest is doing final exams in school in preparation for college entry🤞. Don’t think we will be full time liveaboards as love our 2 houses and family. Trying to figure out if our 10 year old dog will make the transition to sea life but she may be gone to doggy heaven by time husband retires anyway.
Was curious as to your route looked like you were taking the canal and going I the Delaware to NYC. I didn’t know there was a route there? Thought you had to go down to cape may that the Jersey intercostal wasn’t deep enough for a sailboat?
