    Watching at 0.75x and it's still sounds sped up lol. 0.6x would be the sweet spot. Handy video and I feel like I got an hour of info in 30 mins.

    Thank you for going through this process. Couple of years ago, watched your Part 1 and bought the TLD protective shirt you recommended. The TLD has been great. Now, after many rides, time to replace the protective shirt. After this review, I am going to stick with the TLD even though it can be a pain to remove sometimes. Again, your reviews are greatly appreciated.

    Thanks, good review. The bottom line none of them are going to stop dislocation of the shoulder or broken ribs, which is why I am looking for armor in the first place. Those little shoulder pads will maybe stop me from getting "scraped up" but no one is wearing full body armor to not get some cuts and scrapes. I actually purchased hockey shoulder pads as they can actually save me from blowing my shoulder out...which of course I already did 🙂

    Great video, super detailed, good job :) I've been wearing the Leatt Airflex Stealth (short sleeved version) for 2 years now, mostly when going to bikeparks. It's super comfortable and after a while you don't even notice it. Also for the bigger guys like me, the Leatt is super flexible and stretches nicely around the curves :D
    I crashed in it 2 or 3 times and always walked away without any major injuries (except for my elbow, which weren't protected by anything).

      Head. Elbows. Chest. Hands. Possibly knees and shins. Super important to protect. I am sitting here with a broken elbow which required surgery and in a cast. Not fun.

    Took a hard hit to the shoulder and hip recently and just decided it’s time for a full face and body armor on all trail rides. Gonna go with the 661 evo too looks like exactly what will work for me thanks 🙏 agreed that this is a tough one

    You’re forgetting the most important piece of safety equipment, the neck guard by Leatt! If you break your neck, the other equipment means nothing.

    Hi. Great video. Does any manufacturer / model already employ the detachable / replaceable bindings? When I look at seperated gear (roost, elbows, wrist, shoulder, knees, etc.), the first thing I look at is the strap bindings. I want the strap, on both ends to be detachable/ replaceable at reasonably low costs. I DON'T like velcro/elastic, especially if sewn and permanently fixed to the gear as over time it stretches of gets degraded. I DO like straps that work like zip-ties that you sometimes find on helmuts (quick release/adjustments). Your videos ROCK!!! I loved that you included a demonstration of putting it on and taking it off. I learn a lot from you, thank you.😊

    I wear the tld with a snug dri fit type shirt underneath, I don't notice the extra layer and the polyester type material makes it easier to take off after a long day of riding. Taken several spills, never any injuries except fingers and wrists lol

    great review as I am going through the same process. One thing I didn't hear you mention is that the Leatt has the built in neck brace attachment so if you get a neckbrace it can be part of this.

    Cannot decide between the IXS and the 661. Have the IXS here but the material looks a bit flimsy (how soon will it fall apart) and there is just NOTHING in terms of checkst protection.
    Elbows and shoulders is miles ahead of the Leatt which I also have here. Maybe the 661 would be the perfect combination. Only wonder which size would fit me (187cm/84kg) and if the back protector may be too short.
    The ixs back protector is very long - nearly perfect.

    Good Job.But in my opinion, use the one that interests you the most, but with short sleeves and separate elbow pads I think you will save yourself a lot of adjustment problems.

    I'm playing it at .75 speed, lol. I really liked the bit about making better decisions. Wish I'd been wearing something like those recently. 😟 TLD is lighter and stronger than the others, although warmer...?

    • @MrTonka
      @MrTonka  Рік тому +1

      LoL. I'm not really sure it's much warmer. The biggest drawback to the TLD is that it's difficult to get off. I actually thought about taking it to a tailor to get a zipper put on it. haha

    Just incase it wasn’t stated. D3O is phenomenal when it comes to protection and dispersion of impacts. I’m a 35 year hockey player and all my gear has that material in it and I take hockey pucks at 80 + mph and body checks and I feel nothing. Don’t sleep on this protection material it’s elite

    Just in time, dreaming of snowshoe, waiting for our passes to arrive, I got my son the Leatt last year and it was just a bit to big so replacing with a size smaller but the 661 looks nice. I actually wish they put a side zipper on the TLD

    • @MrTonka
      @MrTonka  Рік тому +1

      yeah, I don't like the diagonal zipping thing. just one up the side would be just fine. There is just about nothing there anyway.

    Hi, is the 661 Evo compression jacket CE level 2 on the back? It only specifically states it for the women version on their website.
    Additionally, are any of the d3o panels removable for example when washing?

  • @jonibz1456

    Probably should have tried the Leatt Body Protector 3DF AirFit Lite, defiantly more of the coverage your after, especially after coming from the Troy Lee protector. The zip thing on the Leatt's becomes easy once you pull the front over more into the position it's meant to be. But never tried the 661, looks like a great option.

    • @MrTonka
      @MrTonka  Рік тому +2

      my ride buddies got the thicker more stout Leatt garment and it just seemed like too much. I felt like the TLD piece I had did what it could and more with less weight and being less obtrusive. I'm not sure about the AirFit Lite and I'll let you in on a secret, this video was really made last year. oops. Life has been happening.

    Am i the only one that can't find body armor that when you apply force on shoulder/elbow pads front side or top or below, not perpendicular, they are moving way too easily? I tried 15+ body armors and everywhere same problem except some POC that wasn't comfortable at all, all other same problem for me. IDK if nobody test that, or other don't have problems with that.

      Don’t feel bad man. There’s very little armor that can protect the collar bone. It usually breaks from force on the shoulder rather than a direct hit. It’s one of the body’s crumple zones. I have two plates and eight screws in mine. Heal up soon and when you come back you’ll be bionic! 👍

    haha your about as indecisive as me. I'm getting one for moto. I got a slightly different version of the leatt. I think all of them do more to m,ake you feel better than they really protect. I just returned the alpinestars bionic tech v2 that thing is beefy but just to bulky. well hope you don't get to test the thing but it does look like a good product.

    If you crash on your elbow wearing the evo, I'd imagine the thin fabric holding the armour in place will tear open?
