- Featuring the late great Martin Finnegan #45 & Cameron Donald battle of fireblade's at the Skerries Road Races, Co. Dublin along with interesting insights from Robert Dunlop & Stephen Davison.
filmed by Nick Sanders in 2006
Just watching this as a Ballymoney man born and bred I got really emotional at the part in the middle of the video where they paid respects to Joey. Knowing that since then we've lost Robert and William as well as many others.
RIP Road Warriors.
💔🤍😢 William D
I met Martin a few times through work, he was a very nice guy.
brilliant documentry - well done, R.I.P. Martin, Robert & Big D always remembered, never forgotten.
What a piece of history!! Chears from Brazil!
Sad to see that both Finnegan and Robert Dunlop are gone now...
Great video - long may Irish road racing continue!!!
Those races you mention are HELD on British roads ,not in the ROI.
@@samuelboyd972this is an Irish road racing event on Irish roads.
bring's back a lot memory 's of being a young boy grew up round the sport lost an uncle who loved it also Aubrey McCauley
Old Cameron Donald pops up in so many documentaries.
Martin Finnegan is still my hero!
Funny how no one ever mentions ray porters name when robert dunlop said at the 2007 cookstown that ray porter was without doubt the most underrated road racer ever and also said if ray porter had his dmrr honda bike at the northwest or tt he would woulda have . Superbike race without doubt
Ray porter raced with jds and the bikes were never set right when he got ona. Honda at walterstown 2006 and won a 600 and superbike that shocked ppl he was a 600 champion in 2006 every race ray poryer was at on the dmrr honda he won or podium
Porter left jds after tt 06 skerries was his first outtings with no team came along with family as mechiancs and his own r6 and r1 superstock came 3rd in superbike and won the 600 on his own bikes that shows donnans were never set right
Robert also said ray porter was the best on the brakes to ever grease road racing thats coming from a dunlop and it was only ever ray porter and joey dunlop to over take at ballysally roundabout at nw200
Facepalm at the Union Jack flag for Cameron Donald at 4:57...and again for Martin Finnegan at 5:19
I used to go see Joey and Robert at the NW 200, Tandragee 100 etc. In the early to mid 80s. It was awesome seeing them race and being within feet of them at the starting grid before they took off. I can still smell the 2 stroke in the air.
I sincerely hope we are able to have a full season of roadracing next year.
good find, thank you.
Great footage.
Skerries is a beautiful little town and the circuit is a gem..
The big bikes are getting too fast for the back section from Glasshouses to the Hairpin, breaking with tradition, maybe switch the circuit to the adjoining Killalane circuit with perhaps two days practice before race day
@@bonnieboy190 indeed but the back section of killalane is every bit as the back of Skerries and faster I think. As for two days practice, people's employment will hamper that I think but I can see your point..
Well done , great memories !!!!!!!
I hope you enjoyed the show lads, it was a privilege to know Robert dunlop and Martin and Cameron - all great chaps. Keep watching and be safe...Nick
I wish we would have races like this in the U.S.
god bless u martin live to ride ride to live
great vid, thanks.
Great Video...some nice interviews with Robert and Martin...Thanks!!
11:15. Robert Dunlop says it best. "It's all mental!"
MR whats the announcer say at 3:16 blanking Broncos???
Bucking bronco's because the bikes were being ridden on bumpy grassy fields.
Beautiful documentary, so sad that some of these men are gone . I have a little understanding of their mindset but I'm not near their level .
Best comment at 11:16 from Robert Dunlop. "It's all mental!" You can see he was trying not to laugh at the double meaning.
I recognize this voice anywhere, its Nick Sanders, I bought a signed DVD of the Incredible Ride from him at a motorbike show in Manchester.
agreed thanks lockk9
Haha Martin finegan has a British flag on the screen with his name even though he was born in Dublin
Martin Finnegan with his little girl :-(
Brilliant name for a street circuit... Skerries!!! Brilliant. Only in Ireland.
wasn't quite expecting 3:14!!
bella gara,bella gente......
Notice Robert Dunlop signing the race form at the beginning and look at his damaged right hand, the hand that ironically was a factor in his unfortunate death.
Nothin g wrong with the UNION JACk!
@@samuelboyd972yeah nothing wrong when your a true colonial Brit. Until you guys take acknowledgment for your butchers apron people like me will always comment some shit like this.
Awesome thanks Brendan. Cameron what fucking aussie legend GO SON
At 3:20 is that McPint walking along wearing the burgundy t-shirt ? lol Fun and interesting video shame it so fuzzy.

Did you actually film this, then playback on a video cassette and record it again on your 0.5megapixel camera phone from 1995?
these riders can be pro,all like a rider was hitting 160mph front tyre blew, unbelivable do it wrong place.needless say happened wrong place
Why is Martins name inside a union jack hes irish?
Same with Cameron Donald, he's an aussie
irishkerry hard to watch miss these legends
Hmmm, it's got to be him?
Oh yes, sorry about the flag guys..., we only had one logo - next time I'll get the flag done right! Kind regards. Nick
This reminds me of "Little Britain". I am the only gay in the village. He had all the locals fooled...until the real thing showed up.
While this looks to be an amazing watch, unfortunately the rubbish quality renders it unwatchable. Mr. uploader, do you have available another way to give it a try? I’d love to be able to see what’s actually going on without feeling like I’ve drunk a few too many pints.
RIP Michael Dunlop. Way too young
I think you mean William
Terry your hearts in the right place brother but you mean William and lets say our respects RIP Joey, Robert and William..Micheal its up too you lad.
🙄
why are all those rides represented under union jack flag there all Irish hence the name Irish road racing
Records department got burnt down during WW2, I have a British passport and cant get an Irish one, spent my whole childhood teased mercilessly at school for being Irish but I can't thing of a single occasion when I was held back or refused anything for being Irish. No British person said to me that I could not be British because because my family came from Ireland. None of the Union countries would be anything without the other. The industrial revolution started with the railways and the railways in England were built by the Irish, so the Irish started the industrial revolution not the English, hahaha... I take each person as they come and don't live in the past, always worked for me.
TT way way back in the day, Americans came from this part of the world as have the Canadians. I have a mix of Irish, English, Scottish, I know where my blood comes from but I was born raised in Canada respect to my fore fathers. So the union jack boys are are Irish to this day.
*they are, or they're, not "there"
@@KevinJohnson-jc9ju your Canadian!! And not a single Irish man would stand under that dirty union jack proud .
@@GG-nj9cc You may be right and im sorry for speaking out for I truly don't know the history in that part of the world. My genes are of a Mutts from that area . I must go there to see some of that history and watch some TT Isle of Man. RIP Dunlops and best wishes MD
Horrible quality of the video.. to bad! Great vid anyway :)
sorry, cant watch such bad quality! Try uploading with a higher quality.... plz?!! Looks like it was shot in Progressive, certainly not HD.
robert Burks omg i used to have to watch 500 gps on vhs! Just get hammered drunk n it looks fine :)
@@MrMiD.Life.Crisis correct
I just have to say, the video quality sucks big time...
Best racing is in the uk,dundrod annd the northwest 200 also uk race not like the r.o.i .
As I read down through the comments it's clear to see your a real racist piece of invasive shit. Fuck back to where you came from. The clock is ticking.
