“In your valleys, beneath your skies. I am home.” The intensity in this sound is incredible. Good call. Had to dig this one up on ITunes after I saw the suggestion and give it a listen.
today i listened to this song for the first time ever. possibly one of the best songs i’ve ever heard all of my life, from the drums to the vocals. and you know it’s really that good cause everytime i hear a song for the first time and i really enjoy it, then i must immediately learn it on guitar. thank you steve for this tutorial!!!
@@DoesItDoom Seems like a semi-legit request for your channel. Early QOTSA could easily be defined as Stoner Rock, and depending on the source, often is. Josh’s warm, fuzzy tone and hypnotic rhythms are very enjoyable, and I have yet to find an online lesson that truly captures his sound. Thanks, again, man. BTW, the Sabbathi has been getting a lot of use from me. Love that fuzz! Also love that you made the feedback more controllable than the Behringer Super Fuzz. I enjoyed that pedal but just couldn’t crank my amp without serious feedback.
Just found this channel and I'm already a massive fan! I'm just getting into playing heavier music (before I mainly played funk and soul) and this has helped me a lot in learning all my favourite riffs. Thanks! :)
Would LOVE to see some Trouble broken down. Anything from the self titled, Manic Frustration or Plastic Green Head. I'm sure your personal choice would be the right tune. Would definitely fit with your content. Big riffs, down tuning, harmonies, etc. The Chicago Doom Masters that they are. Really appreciate your content and dedication to the music. Thanks.
I know next to nothing about guitar but love this song and most of their others, also most QOTSA.. Enjoyed seeing the song broken down - Demon Cleaner is superb imo, Hurricane is another good one, gonna check more of this channel, and you Sir, have earned yourself another subscriber!
Great content as usual……it would be great to see some drop pedals demos for us mortals that only have one guitar and can’t go retuning the thing often. Digitech and EHX comes to mind.
Very cool lesson and tone, and band of course. I just realized something; the chorus riff on Green Machine is almost identical to the ending riff of Lord of this world, by Black Sabbath. Same power chords (flat sixth, flat seventh, flat third to second) , just the rhythm differs.
Cool! Nice to see I figured this out pretty close, though I adapted it to Drop D tuning. Has anybody else noticed the similarity between the main riff and the main riff in "Makin' Love" from KISS? Not saying Josh ripped it off. Both riffs are great.
Really would love to see odyssey and whitewater done off sky valley. Not a lot of lessons for those tracks and those that exist are innacurate or crusty play alongs from 10 years ago
Very cool lesson Steve!!! I’m kind of on the fence with Kyuss. Some of their songs I like, some I’m kind of iffy about. The lesson was cool though!!!🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼

Yesss! No rush, but if you can get around to Whitewater, that would be groovy
Getting a lot of requests for Whitewater. Will spend a bit of time with it.
The closing passage of Whitewater is one of the greatest pieces of music ever conceived…it’s beautiful.
“In your valleys, beneath your skies. I am home.”

@@DoesItDoom Yes!!!! Whitewater would be awesome.
Nice. The song that changed everything for me in 1992.
🤘🏻🤘🏻
This tune--plus seeing them live--did the same thing to me. Possibly the greatest band of the '90s.

Hurricane, one inch man, thumb, demon cleaner, and so many more lessons need to be on this channel
Working on more!
As to be expected, another awesome lesson for an equally awesome lesson. Love to see “Avon” “Mexicola”, or “If Only” from the self titled QOTSA album.
Glad you liked the lesson, Eric. Getting a lot of QOTSA requests to day!

Glad to hear that, Alex! Thanks for becoming a Patreon member as well. Hope you dig all of the content over there!
I've kind of turned my nose up to Kyuss over the years but I think I'll give them another chance, thanks to DoesItDoom. :)
Cool! Hope you liked the lesson.
Love it! For some reason I wanted to see you tinker with the pedal a bit at the start to set the tone. /shrug
🤘🏻🤘🏻
Love it! I wouldn't be mad if you did this entire album! 😅😅
🤘🏻🤘🏻 Working on some more.
Thank you very much! It's been a long time searching the correct way to play this song 😄 great playing as always!

I have a digitech drop. Those pedals work ok for 3-4 semitones. Not my favorite overall. Will give some thought to doing a demo.
god... that GLORIOUS tone !!!
I love Steve but that tone is missing all the balls that Josh’s has on the record
Yeah man, tough tone to chase. Gonna have to work at it a bit more for sure.

Could we hope for some early Queens of the Stone Age?
This is does it doom
Not does it gloom
@@dezionlion I'd say that first three albums of QOTSA are quite doom'ish, due to Homme's experience with Kyuss
