You can use feeder gum with mono, but it makes little sense as mono is stretchy anyway. Re diameters of mainline and feeder gum: usually about 0.12-0.14 mm. braid and 0.35 mm. Drennan feeder gum.
Thanks. As for length, it will depend on the situation BUT 50 cm. is always a good starting point. As for materials, there are many good lines on the market; I use Drennan Supplex, Supplex Fluorocarbon and Shimano Aspire Silk. Tight lines!
I will be difficult at the start for sure but I would use a loop tyer tool. I would hold the gum with my teeth and then rotate the tool, then hold the twist with fingers, then guide the loop in tool jaw's with the teeth to finish the knot. Then would attach feeder gum to mainline loop-to-loop (again would use loop tyer tool to make a loop on the mainline).
Can’t help but marvel at the dexterity of your hands when tying knots.
Thanks for a good word.

Could you use this rig with mono mainline, if not, what is your choice of braided mainline and breaking strain for feeder fishing please?

You can. I don't use these.

Having lost the use of my right hand ( stroke ), how would I tie/attach main line to feeder gum?
I will be difficult at the start for sure but I would use a loop tyer tool.
