Where were you twenty years ago when I owned a home with a nice workshop? I would have enjoyed building one of these engines as my dad and I had a small hit-or-miss engine that used to work a water pump and my grand-mothers washing machine. We loved going to the Canadaigua steam show every year! My great uncle Edward had a big steam tractor in Pennsylvania and my dad loved riding on it. It's funny to see you have never seen "pick-a-size" paper towels before, they also make one where you can tear off a half piece and tear that into a quarter piece. We also have a heavy duty paper towel, they are blue in color and most auto shops use them in place of cloth rags. Here's hoping your health is better and your Christmas will be happy!

Hi, Keith; yes, the smaller sheet rolls are very common here on the other side of the pond. While I would like to think this is because people want to minimize waste, but in reality I think it is because there are ~twice the number of sheets in a roll and consumers like getting more, even if the total area of the paper towels is less.
    Cheers & Happy Holidays,
    Charlie

I've really kinda fallen in love with the 5a. I've watched you work on several of them, and I always enjoy watching you build and run them! Makes me want one!

I used to cut the roll in half with a serrated bread knife or whatever. The end result will be the same.
