Lovely to see the young lass, I'm sure Debs will be over the moon for the visit. Good to meet Bob, proper pro, didn't swear, drop anything, hit himself with a hammer or trap his finger in the vice, didn't even dip his oil brush in his brew! A lot of us could leaarn something here! LOL There are 3 universal toque settings, Tight, Chuffin' Tight and Too Chuffin' Tight metric equivolents are available! John you appear to have made Bob one happy man and recorded his informative musing for posterity. Great vid!
Great people to spend a rainy afternoon with; Emmy, Bob, and John. “We’re just the custodians of these machines.” is a solid sentiment. Cheers. “What kind of nuts are in that jam jar? Jam nuts.”
What a lovely bloke is Bob, soo bloody knowledgable too. His restorations of DTI's is fantastic! Johns not a bad geezer either! For a mechanic who pisses about according to himself!
Not being on film very often makes a bloke a little bit nervous until he gets used to it, so things go wrong most often when the camera is on.. So true. Beautiful piece of work there. Looks great.
I really enjoyed this video for several reasons, first, I like the father - daughter connection, then the two old friends connection, then the video content was very informational and useful, cheers!!!
Smashing film. Lovely to see Emmy and Bob. Bob is so skillful. I like him a lot, he should have his own youtube channel. It was good of John to give him the Mamod. I love seeing BA fasteners too. Worked with them for years on a particular Aeroplane that was once the scourge of all foreign submarines and surface ships but can now only be found in museums. Just for info, loctite and threadlock etc breaks down at 76 degrees celsius. It is how you release it. Worth bearing in mind if the engine is run on steam.
Well done Bob, Just a cup of coffee, if I need some machining I have bring a 6 pack, cup of coffee, it would be on the back burner for months. We know John has no patience at all.
BA, the only fastener that had a fixed maximum size, and as the number gets bigger the size gets smaller. Got a few BA spanners and nut drivers around, though they rarely get used.
Two of my favorite channel guests, Emmy and Bob. Today has been a good day.

Good ole Bob, when the problems get fiddly he's always happy to pull John out of the shite. Beautiful engine, can't wait to see it running on steam!
Gotta love it when Bob's on the SNNC the man's a knowledge bomb dropping daisy cutters of info that takes years to learn 😁👍
Most of the strange noises in the workshop, emanate from John's guts. 😁

I'm not sure if it has been mentioned in the comments but I'm sure the material Bob used for the piston rings is Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE ).
Nice work. Engine runs well. Thank you for sharing
