Wow, its like the last scenes of the titanic. I you you grew up going to this mall, you can see it as your eyes saw it then. Just for a split second. I know I did.
I.. I just dont know what to say, i just feel like i might cry every time i see abandoned places.. I just dont know why, maybe i just have feelings for everything like, All the memories, the mall itself, happiness, The mall looked fun and looked like a good business. But of course bad things...
Tons of memories here awesome vids. I can't remember what was the huge space around 2:25? by Athletic Attic downstairs? dont remember that. Actually figured every piece of glass in the place would be broken suprised not to see more actual vandal damage. just gutted and stripped
@AJ Jensen i went to tim dimoff, after 2 years 09 to 11 and some money, i got permission in been in there 5 times, still working on the official documentary though with clips of this walk through, this video is not allowed to be posted but i figure why not if it keeps down the vandalism and plus this film sold the mall!!!
@wdfmidevil thankyou, yeah its a shame the way it went and how it went, the 9s and fives sign is huge i thought about grabbing it myself but i take video rather than objects its been stripped enough, and its full of mold and mildew. glad you enjoyed the vids.
I watched all four parts and i have to say good job my man. I especially enjoyed the food court and the theatre parts. It's just totally sad how gangs of the area ruined this mall. I prefered this one over Summit and Chapel Hill by far. I am surprised that those 'dress to the nines, shop to the fives' signs aren't taken yet. I would love to have those.
Noises in the background, shouldn't you remove the sound? It'd be better with music only. My local Macy's is going to close down starting next year on March I think that's what I heard from breaking news
Yeah, because by then the mall was completely unsupervised and everyone could do anything in it/with it without anyone seeing which is why the mall was so beaten up near the end. I really wish the mall was sold to a company who cared instead of buying it and just letting it sit and secretly trying to find a new buyer like premier ventures did, which is why the mall was constantly broken into. They even stopped paying for security.
well not really, the arcade aladen's castle was packed all the time, up until it closed in 2002. Gangs weren't really an issue there, in 91 new jack city riot only resulted in a security guard getting roughed up.

First off i used to go to Randall Park Mall & Rolling Acres Mall in 1988-89 when i was in 5th grade as always what i like about it as any other person who was in their grade school, junior high, senior high school year you wanna kill some time in the mall kick it at the arcade for a few hours this is my opinion what i think slowly killed this mall besides the gang fights theft and was the begining of the 16 bit gaming systems i mean the graphics looked like they were if you were at the arcade..
EARLIER THIS EVENING: 11/5/13 @ ROUGHLY 6PM, THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WERE CALLED OUT TO ROLLING ACRES MALL. I WAS FILMING INSIDE THE SOON TO BE CLOSED J5 OUTLET (JC PENNY) WHEN STORE MANAGEMENT CAME ON THE INTERCOM SYSTEM: ATTENTION SHOPPERS IN CASES OF EMERGENCY EVERYONE IS TO LEAVE THE BUILDING IN AN ORDERLY FASION, EVERYONE PLEASE EXIT NOW. SOMEONE SET FIRE TO SOME GARBAGE AND CAUGHT THE MALL ON FIRE. NOTHING TO SERIOUS THOUGH.
well technically it wasn't the 1st to leave, but yeah a slight decline due to the arlignton and soon to be wadsworth walmarts and shotty mall security, but that taget still exists in wadsworth-thats where it moved-
(Cont) i think that was the true death of RAM was the declining attendance at the arcade i mean in 1989 the sega genesis was released and the same with the Super nes ithe graphics looked the same just like if you were at the arcade itself if you had these two 16 bit gaming systems c'mon why would you need to go to the arcade when you got the arcade at home if i was a billionaire i'd would be afraid to invest and reopen ram even though it would be good i wouldnt want the gangs starting shit etc.
@james dear a casino i preached for years, thisle down was gonna build there but the mayor put the stop to it, infact he wants the are and kenmore to remain dead in an attempt to keep downtown quote clean of crime
it closed in 2008.So the city just let this mall fall apart like this? why doesn't the city just tear it down instead of being an eye sore? what a shame. very sad to see this.
Because they city doesn't own the property some people in California own it and the city can't locate who owns it so they have no control over it and the county has tried to get the property seized by the government but it hasn't worked yet
So sad. what was a good mall fell short of a good place. My parents and there good friends went out to the mall one time and they were the only white people there and that's when the big riot came and it scared them shitless
blue x, means water has been disconnected permanently
Wow, its like the last scenes of the titanic.
I you you grew up going to this mall, you can see it as your eyes saw it then. Just for a split second. I know I did.
Almost cried when I saw the skylights, escalators and elevator not broken :(
That didn't last long unfortunately
H.H. foxaddict too bad it didn't.. wish I could have seen that
The attic - was Athletic Attic - sporting goods. I think it was an Addidas outlet originally.
Good memories of that mall.

Eventually that happened though
really liked this video!

Man I'm 15 but I remember living to ride in that elevator but only if I was acting right
You're 21 now, I suppose?

The Picnic Place sign I'd love to own.

Andy Fonseca I thought the same, but leaving the background noise gives it some gritt. Things were stepped on and over.
Back when the mall almost still had a chance... now it has no chance at all
Because the escalators were still re-usable and so was the elevator, except for the broken glass under it
But, the damage was already done to the rest of the mall.... soooo....
Yeah, because by then the mall was completely unsupervised and everyone could do anything in it/with it without anyone seeing which is why the mall was so beaten up near the end. For The PPL Who Had Good Memoris I Feel Sorry For You And I Wish You all best of luck to get it back RIP Rolling Acres
They were from the auction in 2009.
how? they look dead. i agree with you about them being somewhere else after the mall closed, though.
I wonder why they don't salvage any of the materials. There's a ton of glass, mirrors, etc that could be reused.
and unfortunately they all got busted awhile later
well not really, the arcade aladen's castle was packed all the time, up until it closed in 2002. Gangs weren't really an issue there, in 91 new jack city riot only resulted in a security guard getting roughed up.
glass to be broken, think of demolishion crews, they put Xs on things to be torn out, some of the pillars are marked to.
Will you make another tour next year
@Bostonforever95 yes vividly , been there several times.
@ItsEDMNRG actually i was allowed back in again last week, its been stolen or sold either way its gone

they fucked up that mall.

Used to be a furniture store
What happened to that mall is the result of utter incompetence. Have to wonder how the rest of the city is managed.
Who do you contact to get in there for such a photo tour?
Even after this long? They've not been tended to since 2006 - no water no food and only a little sunlight. If so, that's amazing - who knew?
Duck Duck the Goose Keeper who?, the trees?
sad to see a mall my daughter and I wor
ked at in this condition!
anyone know what store that is at 2:12? it's a nice one:)
yeah, right next to the walmart in harlem
what are the blue xs?
It was a furniture store
@gptv10 area not are
when were you actually there?
anyupdates
i know why would they leave them thier when the mall was closed should they of took them out
If you want to place blame how about giving it to the owners and misnanagement that allowed it to come to this point...
Make it a factory or casino
Is scrappers homeless and teens do this
To break glass and steal for no reason
@james dear a casino i preached for years, thisle down was gonna build there but the mayor put the stop to it, infact he wants the are and kenmore to remain dead in an attempt to keep downtown quote clean of crime
cool:)
Why don't they tear it down
They have plans to demolish it soon.
what a shamee. man i hate scrappers
