It took forever for a shoe to be made or a dress, or to grow food at a subsistence level. People worked 16 hours a day. There was child labor. There was no leisure time to do volunteer work to help the poor, unless you were part of the nobility. The Catholic answer to this was to beg (mendicant monks), and then do charity work or whatever with the money they raised. The Protestant answer was get a job and help your community by working. as a Christian. I've had a lot of nihilistic feelings and thinking for a long time, and it's worse because i'm Autistic. And since I'm autistic, the way my life has been. The way my life has been. For most of my short life. Has almost felt like a Jail And even when I had My job. I just always felt like my life was meaningless, and it was doing nothing that my life. He's just wasting away, achieving nothing, being nothing, and being stuck where I live. I often feel Julius, Caesar. Because he When he read about the conquest of alexander the great He cried Because everything he had done in life was nothing compared alexander and his short life Alexander did something to get himself remembered forever And caesar realized At that point in his life. He would be forgotten and never remembered. And from those feelings gave birth for Caesar's desire for conquest. And to be like alexander I have often Pleaded with God for years. Or just strictly told him I hate my life But I wish I could live in the past. Live a different life in be like that was great, conquerors and generals and warriors of the past. I'm a history nerd and I love conquest I could fit more into the past Then I would in the modern world I am not ignorant what I say because I'm a historynerd and I know how people lived I've I know more about history than people know about their own languages. I have just wanted a life that had more meaning and had more things for me to do And and not have a life that turns to dust I just know I could have done more if I was given a chance In a different Point in history I just know There were so many lives I could have lived. ( And please for everything holy Do don't say I need to accept Jesus into my heart or become born again. It gets so tiring Hearing that I know my salvation Thank you very much)
Also I’m pretty sure the Bible says that the hairs on your head are numbered I recomend reading Pslam 139 it helps when you feel alone or that God doesn’t love you. God bless you bro
Brother, I can understand where you're coming from given your explanation. Consider though that you are here NOW for such a time as this. Repent of focusing of what could have been and focus on seeking The Kingdom and His righteousness and the rest will be added. Have you repented of sin and asked for the grace to overcome any sin? Have you asked for the grace to fulfill The Great Commission? Lay up your treasures in heaven, keep eternity in mind! Ill be praying for you. God Bless ✝️❤
I am not a history nerd, but I am a book nerd. I often times have the same feelings you describe except toward fantasy worlds. "Wouldn't it be great if I was some hero in a medieval world?" I think to myself. Many times it would get to the point where I would feel depressed just longing for a different life. After years of having these thought, pondering them, exploring scripture, and talking with others I realized a few important things. 1. The fact humans have these feelings reveals something very important. We are not satisfied with our current condition. We have an understanding that we are made for something greater. As Christians we know we are meant to be creatures that bring glory to God, and we yearn to be in his presence. C.S. Lewis said "“If I find in myself desires which nothing in this world can satisfy, the only logical explanation is that I was made for another world.” 2. Understand that you would still have a longing for a different life, even if you could live out your perfect fantasy. Maybe you would fit better in a historical setting. However, you would not find meaning in it. Eventually it would become dull and unfulfilling, as all things are apart from Christ. 3. God can use your wants and desires for good. You say you feel your life is wasting away. Then pursue something greater. Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Acts 1:8 "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Become one of your heroes. Be a warrior of Christ. Spread his Gospel. Allow the Holy Spirit to use you for great things. (I know this is much easier said than done. I am still struggling with laziness and apathy.) I pray that the Lord will reveal his will to you, and that he will grant you strength to pursue it. You are not alone in your struggles. God Bless and have a great day!
Again, you say Evangelical churches don't help the poor as much as the mainline churches. But all the data shows the opposite: Evangelicals donate their time and money far more than mainline Christians do, and I've never been to a Non-denominational church that hasn't had a big service ministry. I have no idea where you get that idea from.
Yeah I don't really know either. Could Christians do more? Of course! But it's not like evangelicals do nothing at all whatsoever. There are certainly some who have the mentality that he describes, but it doesn't mean evangelicals don't do anything at all. The ACNA church I'm at currently donates money and works with a few organizations in the city. Also, there is a non-denomination church in the city I'm by that does tutoring, classes, and has resources for poor people in the city. Also, every Friday they go out into several places throughout the city to give food and clothing to homeless people, while also spreading the gospel (which you can spread the love of Jesus without always having to say the gospel too).
I am so sorry that even Slovak Lutheran church is becoming more liberal. I heard from a theology student in Bratislava that there are some liberal professors and one congregation "celebrates" pride month.
Just thinking about what you said about your dad in his position on the Session - I presume this means your dad is an elder? In my church (Presbyterian Church of Australia), churches have a session of its elders, but also a board of management, on which all elders sit, as do some members of the church by election. The session deals with spiritual and worship matters, like the structure and contents of a worship service, and what ministries the church engages in, while the board deals with administrative and financial matters. From your description it sounds like PCUSA does not have that distinction?
It's not really true that Catholicism hasn't had similar issues with liberalism. It definitely has. It's just that loberal and conservative Catholics don't typically schism (except for the SSPX, which is in a weird grey area, and Sedevacantists who don't go to church at all because they think the entire thing is unsalvageably liberal). There's also the stuff going on in Germany, because of course it's Germany. It's always Germany.
I'm sorry bro, I have to disagree with certain things you said by the end, especially as you didn't try to back them up well. Saying Protestantism is the best because it's been hijacked the most is quite a stretch based on some questionable logic and in some way almost going against Biblical teachings (that the Holy Spirit will guide the Church and that you will know them by their fruits). To add to it, there were no arguments presented for saying Protestantism built the strongest societies, has spread Gospel the most, built best universities etc. I'm not sure where that is so clearly coming from, I think we can easily make the same case for Catholicism with well backed up arguments (probably better to be honest). Maybe I can see it in a very American centric point of view, but I know we can all agree that limiting spreading God's Kingdom on Earth to the boundaries of only your own country isn't a very Christian doctrine. To end, love your content, you have helped me a lot and I think you are doing incredible work.
The claim that Protestants had the most missionaries is ludicrous historically. He looks at the USA and thinks the whole world is the same. The US is an exception. If you only look at American universities, sure there are many Protestant ones because the US was colonized by a Protestant country. But despite that, there are countless Catholic schools and universities. In the rest of the world, the Catholic Church provides the most education of any institution. It is also the largest charity in the world by far. It has been attacked, hence the existence of Protestantism, yet it still stands because Christ said it would prevail.

Question for you: I understand that your focus is restoring consistent and conservative theology to the mainline churches, and you made a good point about how it seems that Evangelicalism has mostly withdrawn from the world, but would it hypothetically be easier to push evangelical churches towards interacting with the world in a meaningful way than it would be to deliberalize the mainline churches?
No because if the church isn’t fixed then the non believers will hear the wrong teachings and either buy into them, become confused what christianity is and look deeper into it, or think it’s nonsense and go full atheist.

Fun fact: the church that you see in the thumbnail is actually the Orthodox Cathedral in the city of Timisoara, Romania, built in the 20th century in a neo-Moldavian style
I would like to offer a critique that Evangelical disregard for the world is cognitive dissonance, not a feature of our belief. Evangelicals are the creators and practically the only ones actually teaching and practicing Kingdom Theology. In fact, the more controversial the Evangelical figure, the more they espouse it, such as Bethel's Bill Johnson, or R.T. Kendall, Lance Walnau, Dr. Michael Browne, etc.. I personally need to be better about serving others, much like the rest of the Evangelical church. However, that is due to laziness, not lack of belief.

You seem to know a lot about differing views of liberal, conservative and other christians. I've gotten conflicting answers to my following question and maybe you could give me an overview of some sort: Am I destined to go to hell if I neither want to go to heaven or hell after I die? And I also don't want to be resurrected.
Hell is also known as the second death. If you want to cease existing then the only option is hell. If you want to live and be resurrected heaven is the only option.
@@redeemedzoomer6053 What an unfair god. I could do better. If I had the power to decide over each soul I would give those who desire nonexistence the possibility to cease to exist. God could do the same, there is no reason why he shouldn't be able to since he is allmighty.
I haven't been a liberal chirstian or even learn about them. Information you provided in the video really let me confused. Seems like part of liberal beliefs are deviated from the scripture.
Evangelical churches, I think, don't do as much feeding the homeless and social justice because they lack the resources to do so, not the motivation. I'm not sure if I'm onto anything
You specifically mentioned that the evangelical church’s need to come back to the mainline. To do so would be to admit fault and we know who is more in the right on spiritual matters so that will NEVER happen.
That's interesting you say that mainline churches do a much better job of helping the poor than evangelical churches, and that evangelicals lag far behind in universities and hospitals. How does that mesh with the whole "You will know them by their fruits" thing?
Please Christian UA-camrs of all branches/denominations please make videos telling Christians from other countries to move to the United States and make it more Christian because Christianity is declining very fast in the United States!
It's really noble to see your love for your country. Unfortunately, Christianity is declining even faster in most countries in Western and Northern Europe and there are people there who want to make their countries Christian again too. I believe we all first need to do our best in our local communities thus improving our countries and eventually the whole world.
Jefferson is my favorite politician by a wide, wide margin. Shame he was a Deist, but hey, if we ignored all non-Christians we'd rarely talk to anyone at all these days.
If you don't support evangelicals splitting from mainlines for disagreement of their theology... Why are you Protestant? Might be stupid question but that seems like a double standard
"Moreover, brethren, *I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you* which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; *By which also ye are saved* , if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, *how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures* ; *And that he was buried* , *and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures* ," (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). At 2:50, you critiqued the evangelicals for preaching the gospel the way the Bible defines it. There is no other gospel (Galatians 1:6-9); the message that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day is what the gospel is. It has to do with the salvation of souls, not with the betterment of the world (although that may come as a byproduct of there being more Christians).
True, but the proclamation of the arrival of the Kingdom of God has always been accompanied by miracles and doing good to others. The apostles did the same when they proclaimed the gospel. Therefore, I think it is super valid that the Church has as one of its focuses the anticipation of the Kingdom, through its influence in our world. It seems to me that this is what the Early Church did that eventually led to the conversion of the entire Roman Empire.
A lot of good remarks, but you conflate various groups within evangelicalism together in making your statements about the simplified view of "heaven" as the ultimate destination. I am Particular Baptist/"Reformed Baptist" and the crowd I hang out with certainly doesn't hold that view. Heaven is an intermediate state and the New Heavens and New Earth is the final state following Jesus' return and the Judgment. I acknowledge that many evangelicals have a simplified, Tom & Jerry cartoon understanding of this matter though.
@@CorbinLeonard-rp4et For Catholics and Protestants, in summary, they split because the Catholic Church was getting corrupt, and the Pope refused to undo the corruption. The Mainline churches were also getting corrupt. Issue is the evangelicals didn't have to leave. They weren't excommunicated in most cases, they just surrendered, making the church weaker.
Non-Christians can still make good things. Einstein wasn't a Christian. Sergey Brin isn't a Christian, and we're talking on his pretty good platform right now.

And to be like alexander
I have often Pleaded with God for years. Or just strictly told him I hate my life But I wish I could live in the past. Live a different life in be like that was great, conquerors and generals and warriors of the past.
I'm a history nerd and I love conquest I could fit more into the past Then I would in the modern world
I am not ignorant what I say because I'm a historynerd and I know how people lived I've I know more about history than people know about their own languages.
I have just wanted a life that had more meaning and had more things for me to do And and not have a life that turns to dust
I just know I could have done more if I was given a chance In a different Point in history I just know There were so many lives I could have lived.

You have meaning bro your so valued by God He died for you
Also I’m pretty sure the Bible says that the hairs on your head are numbered I recomend reading Pslam 139 it helps when you feel alone or that God doesn’t love you.
C.S. Lewis said "“If I find in myself desires which nothing in this world can satisfy, the only logical explanation is that I was made for another world.”
Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
Acts 1:8 "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Become one of your heroes. Be a warrior of Christ. Spread his Gospel. Allow the Holy Spirit to use you for great things. (I know this is much easier said than done. I am still struggling with laziness and apathy.)
I pray that the Lord will reveal his will to you, and that he will grant you strength to pursue it.

8:00 i think the proper definition of the gospel is given to us by Paul in 1 Cor 15:1-5 (maybe the entire chapter?).

I don't think mainline churches are more charitable. Given that evangelicals give a substantially higher percentage of their money to charity.

If you want to live and be resurrected heaven is the only option.

Protestants were excomungated and violently persecuted when they tried to reform the Church, they did not decid to "split" from the Catholic Church.

It seems to me that this is what the Early Church did that eventually led to the conversion of the entire Roman Empire.
bro dont dig straight down its scary
A lot of good remarks, but you conflate various groups within evangelicalism together in making your statements about the simplified view of "heaven" as the ultimate destination. I am Particular Baptist/"Reformed Baptist" and the crowd I hang out with certainly doesn't hold that view. Heaven is an intermediate state and the New Heavens and New Earth is the final state following Jesus' return and the Judgment. I acknowledge that many evangelicals have a simplified, Tom & Jerry cartoon understanding of this matter though.
