hi Tom and the lovely Candice it gets on my nerves when you go for a walk and some of the footpaths are fenced off all overgrown because the landowner carnt be bothered to look after them . was a lovely video and loads of good wildcamping spots too stay safe and will see you on the next one 😀
Langdon Hill and one tree hill are my favourite places in Basildon and just playing and exploring them is just my childhood especially the oak tree at the bottom of hill as you go down from the car park, we'd always climb that tree because it's super slanted while our mother would sit on the bench under the tree while the dogs ran around play.
Basildon, better know locally as Bas Vegas. A term used in Basildon, Essex for the festival leisure park. A word play on Las Vegas as it has similar attractions, so it's said, LOL.
@@candiceb8925 I'v often wondered what that big sign on the mound alongside the A127 is all about ?. Guess Bas really doe's have a connection with Las Vegas after all :)
I agree about public footpaths - found one up in North Wales when we were away and it ran a short distance through woodland, with a gate at each end. It was totally overgrown! Luckily there was another that ran around a different route. I think that you should be able to report any through the local council area website. They have a responsibility (I believe) to ensure that public footpaths and rights of way are kept available for use but the landowner (if applicable) has the responsibility to maintain gates, clearance of growth etc. ATB to you both 🌳🐴🍾🍺
Superb again! 😊👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍😊 Fascinating about the well and lovely views, nuggets of knowledge and history that you so wonderfully add. Love the music too! Anywhere outside the town of Basildon is beautiful in East Anglia 😄😄😊 Try Potsford Gibbet for a camping paranormal fun night 😄😄😉
Another lovely walk. The one thing I always dread is getting lost or finding the pathway is impassible when you have walked a long way, so I felt your frustration. Lovely pics at the end, as usual. Thanks Tom😊
Really nice video and good advice. I’ve encountered that very same problem way too often myself when out walking, some farmers simply don’t like anyone “ walking across their land “ despite the fact you are using a public footpath, they can certainly make things very awkward. The usual tactics seem to be in removing or not maintaining footpath signs , allowing hedges of thorns to grow over access points and putting bulls or wild horses in the fields that the footpaths cut across. I’ve also encountered deliberately diverted footpaths that take much longer than the correct route and seemingly intentional obstacles such as slurry that you now need to negotiate. I know several walkers now that take a pair of wire snippers with them and will cut any barbed wire and vegetation that are preventing access to a public footpath. On one occasion i even contacted the council, due to a resident persistently harassing walkers from walking down a public footpath near her home , she had also erected signs of “ private, no access “ ! the council said that this is a tactic some use, as after a certain amount of time ( forget how many years) of nobody using the footpath, the footpath can be closed , was rather surprised at that and not totally sure if this is correct , just wondering if anyone can enlighten me on this 👍🏻
That couple in the car must have put on a lousy show to cause that guy to kill himself! Mind you, I felt like doing myself in watching the football yesterday… and we won 😳…I suspect I wouldn’t be around to comment if we’d lost 😁😉 Was great to hear from Candice even if she didn’t want to be on camera. It takes balls (or not 🙂) to be filmed… I don’t even like to be photographed 😬. Basildon is cool 😎… it’s where Depeche Mode hail from 👌
I feel ya Tom with the footpath issue. Last few walks I've done have had footpaths removed, homes built on them and just not maintained. I had to climb gates the other day to reach a footpath that had been blocked then had to squeeze through brambles to get to the style onto the next path. Not easy with a full pack!
Great video again Tom. Agree with the maintenance of public rights of way. The amount of times we have had to turn back on walks due to bulls\ horses in the field without any warning and NO maintenance whatsoever of the right of way hacks us off totally. Keep up the good work bruv.
Couldn't agree more about unmaintained R.O.W's. Does my head in! I had about to battle almost a mile of waist high oil rape this weekend with no footpath cleared. Was a killer. Took an hour!!!
Not sure if i've mentioned it before but I sometimes do ghost hunts at places all over the country, a mate of mine was doing the meet and greet at Coalhouse Fort (Thurrock Council Carpark again) and a car pulled up but no one got out so after ten minutes he went over to see if they were also there for the ghost hunt... lets just say Coalhouse's carpark is a popular dogging spot too lmao... you should do a special video... Essex's best dogging places lol
Don't get me wrong dear boy I love the canine! I used to have a mastiff myself , big old boy he was and I can assure you his turds where three times the size of mine! And I'm six feet six ! But I'll let you into a secret? I never picked it up once! For all his nine years on this earth! Bless him, but you may go camping in it , but I keep f ING stamping in it !!!!!!!!!
Show me the funny and no runny businesses! There selling that f ING vange water in Sainsbury's man , next to that moot crap?! Thanks Tom ! Keep keeping it up ! Il let you know where the plop is ? Have to find my ordinance survey map of Essex first ?! Unless I run out of bog roll¡!! Then I'll have to buy An up to date one ??? Anyway I digress.
There's no rhyme or reason in you tube land, you make good watchable content and get 8000 subscriber's which is to be congratulated. Another you tuber puts out some dodgy quality vids of their dancing parrot taken on their phone and get 85000 subscriber's 🤔👍
Just up the road from me... I can confirm some cracking "Dogging" action...
My family was from here before they moved to America. Thanks for the upload so I could understand somewhat the setting they lived in.
👍🙏
Looking great guys, tap me up next time you're in Kent walking!

Thanks for sharing your childhood memories 🙏👍it's very underrated that area, so much woodland and amazing views. Thanks for watching.
Great video Tom..... I live in nearby Corringham which is at the bottom of One Tree Hill..... Great place to go for a walk

Thanks Tom and Candice. Yes, those guided walk books aren't always the easiest to follow. Stay safe, till next time....
What is the book your using? I have a few books that have walks in north Essex but have struggled to find ones in south Essex
Year Round Walks In Essex. It's quite hard to find and can be a bit expensive.
Tom if you come across horses or any livestock by mistake move very slowly They will not bother you I speak from experience 😄
