I would never criticize someone for a cheap wedding. I find it more insane to go all out for one party. I’ve been in multiple weddings as a bridesmaid, my friend and her husband went into debt and ended moving back with her parents for a whole 5 years because their wedding put them so under. It disgusts me to say the least. Especially because they don’t even have sex anymore 😭😂 it’s not worth it, especially if you don’t even have it.

Of course because a lot of budget weddings turn into cheapskate wedding where you feel the ickyness of second guessing hygiene standards and safety, and everything looks awful. You know the type like -we salvaged these shrimps from dumpsters at seaworld and used Christmas decorations to make hair jewellery, the wedding dress is the nightie that great grandma Rose died in,and never mind the balloons saying my condolences , it's a boy and happy sweet 16 Jennifer...they were cheap .

My daughter’s wedding was a sunset affair at a historic mansion. Cost us under $1000. We hired a cellist for music, brought the food ourselves, served it ourselves, and DJ’d the wedding ourselves with help from the guests. The woman who was the overseer of the mansion event said it was one of the most beautiful and fun weddings she had supervised there. She thought it was such fun, she helped out serving the food.

It's not the wedding that's going to last, it's the marriage that should last. Oftentimes the focus isn't where it should be, no wonder more than 1/2 the marriages in the U.S end in divorce. She was stunning in her dress and the husband can wear the suit multiple times. HOWEVER in my personal opinion it's not frugal, but tacky to let your guests pay for food and drinks at a public location. If you want the party with food and drinks, then at least pay for that and invite your guests that flew to your wedding, took pto, bought outfits and booked a hotel and probably got you a gift. I really don't want to hate, but your wedding wasn't frugal or cheap, you just let your guests pay for that...

It was less than $100 for the location permit. That was 18 years ago, we’re still married & now have 7 kids. We still live happily frugally even with a large family & only one modest income until we recently started our Airbnb business. We’ve always travel with our kids, eat extremely health (90% organic amongst other high standards), not on government assistance (not to put anyone down who needs it), low debt (soon to be no debt). Own two homes & 2 vehicles. We simply believe that money isn’t everything & do our best with what we have. With proper planning & budgeting, & for me, faith in the most high, nothing is impossible in Jesus might name. We just don’t try to keep up with “The Jones” & do what we can afford & don’t care what anyone has to say about it. Lots of friends & family members had extremely large expensive weddings & some of them aren’t even together anymore.

It’s definitely up to a couple how they want their wedding to be and what they want to spend. My sister’s wedding dress cost £1000 and that was before the flowers, food, venue costs etc. so I respect people who can work to a budget. If I get married, I’d want to save a decent amount of money in advance so that I could have the wedding I want but not get into debt. They’re happy and the marriage is more important than the wedding so it’s all good.

Hell, my husband and I got married in jeans and tshirts, at the courthouse after only dating for 2 months. I was wearing some heels that my puppy had just chewed up that day. My mom actually made us stop by kmart on the way down to the courthouse to buy rings bc we weren't even going to do that. I actually still have the shirt I wore. (I can't fit into anymore bc, after 2 kids and almost 15 years, I have put on a little weight.) There is no need to spend all kinds of money on a huge wedding. I wouldn't recommend doing what I did but, something like what this young couple did is perfect. The venue was beautiful, her dress was gorgeous and his suit looked great!

Being that a weddings in this day and age make some women get go "bridezilla" and act a fool I'm glad she has a humble & meek spirit. More importantly used WISDOM! Even if you do have it to spend extravagantly why be wasteful?? Especially on the clothing and accessories when you're more than likely going to only use them once. WASTE NOT... WANT NOT.
