"I'm not an attorney, I don't understand necessarily all of these procedures." What a classy way of saying "stop wording these in such a way to trick me"
I can't get over the fact she said she wasn't a lawyer, so she wasn't sure. The attorney just proceeds to assume the complexities of psychology. (Paraphrasing): "mR. dEpP sAiD bOrDeRliNe AnD yOu SaId TyPe B pErSoNaLiTy" Heard does have a type B personality. The evidence shows there is something wrong with her behaviour. Those audio recordings show she is emotional and destructive (classic for a Borderline personality). Having a Borderline personality doesn't mean she is a bad person, but without treatment she is a danger to herself and others.
Dr. Curry did an outstanding job correcting Amber's lawyer in several ocassions, specially when Amber's lawyer was being misleading and asking trick questions. Kudos to her.
Heard's lawyer thought she could intimidate her and boy was she was wrong. I loved that she would tell the lawyer she was wrong or incorrect without batting an eye.
@@ianleonard3264 Delicious? Wtf? Out of all the words in the English language to use as an adjective you pick delicious? Really? Well, ill give you props for thinking outside the box 📦👏 lol.
fr, I'm only halfway through the video and she told her "that's not correct" like 10 times. or more. that lawyer is at the wrong job, being a clown is way better and more fitting for her.
This psychologist was literally asked what a 'diagnosis' and a 'personality disorder' is (which in my opinion is common sense), but when asked what these are she answered politely. Meanwhile, when Amber's lawyer is asked about the terminology she uses (that a person who doesn't study law wouldn't know) she almost mocks her for not knowing. Says a lot about her in my opinion.
Yeah that's the part that made me lose the most respect for her. The rest of it, she was just doing her job trying to portray the psychologist as unreliable. But that part was just rude and bullying. And the psychologist takes it so well and isn't fazed at all.
To be fair, most people seem to be under the impression that personality disorder can be cured. So it would probably be a good thing to explain that it can’t, nor can it be mitigated with medication
Folks seem to get mental illness and personality disorder confused a lot. I haven’t watched that part of this interrogation or interview or whatever, I am under the impression that mental illness is quite different
Its a lawyer its her job. She was just trying to make the doctor very uncomfortable on purpose with her aggressive attitude and difficult questions, hoping that she would break, and trying to make people question her credibility and professionality. Its not pleasant for the doctor but she is a threat for ambers defence so they did everything they could to discredit her. Its nothing personal.
?? Actually, she is making it clear she is not a neutral as suggested. She is the victim of fraud and defamation by the people who are paying her (Depp & Co.), and she is covering up the magnitude of their wrongdoing with her failure to flag their alleged crimes.
I know many people think ambers lawyers are bad because she’s so hard to defend(which is true) but this lawyer is incredibly disrespectful, and bases a case off trying to trick the witness into saying something that supports her case by asking overly long wordy questions that have unnecessary grammar. Overall very unprofessional on the lawyers part and Dr curry was a champion out there
lawyers are allowed to play with any witness's feelings, not to a point of genuine disrespect or outright rudeness, but it is a strategy to rile someone up to get them to trip in their words. It seems that is the only strategy her team is attempting. Both attorneys/lawyers come off as semi-hostile to get a reaction.. no one is taking the bait.
at the lengths amber went to lie & manipulate her way, it isn’t normal. Even a good lawyer is unable to help back up her lies without lying and twisting it further, which could backfire. i’d say it’s the latter. Unless the lawyer can catch up with AH’s narrative and one up her in making her look innocent.
It's hilarious how this lawyer keeps pretending like she's caught the therapist in a lie but she keeps referring to pages that just confirm the consistency of her answer.
Yeah that literally made no sense. 'You said you did this' 'No' 'Let's turn to this pointless page' 'Ok' 'Can you read what you said' 'It says 'no'' LMFAO
I am literally star struck by this Psychologist. She is just so well spoken and articulate and elocuent. Everything she says makes sense to me. The way she stands her ground and doesn't cower to the vain hostility from the disrespectful lawyer. She stands firm because she knows she can rely on her own research, experience, and knowledge to know better than to play into the karens mental games (she's a psychologist, duh).
The fact the lawyer patronises a PSYCHOLOGIST on not knowing legal terms is beyond hilarious. This is clear evidence of a beaten case, scraping the barrel clutching at straws, I wonder what will come up next.
It's pretty clear what's happening next: Amber will lose the case. Jail is likely, but she may also end up in inpatient care. Either way, this woman shouldn't be on the streets.
"So you are aware Mr. Depp enjoys pizza, correct? You are aware Mr. Depp eats other foods, correct? Do I know what Arnica cream is? No. Because I call it Amica cream. Im having a stroke your honor." This case from Ambers end is just sad.
@@SGaming-cw7vh make me wonder if it would have been easier to settle for a lesser amount and say something like “money might do more good if used for psych treatments for Amber” and go for the “have some pity for this clearly somewhat mentally unstable person” route
This is a civil case, so no jail time. It’s likely he’ll win this case since the burden of proof is beyond a reasonable preponderance (51% likelihood the allegations are true). In criminal court there has to be a 99% chance, he could also win. However, statue of limitation says 6 years, max, for domestic violence cases. So it’d unfortunately be thrown out, and prosecutors wouldn’t pursue.
I cannot believe that the judge allowed this crazy, convoluted, and non-sensical questioning by that ridiculous lawyer. She is a disgrace. More importantly, Dr. Curry is a shining example of a mental health professional with amazing composure and intelligence.
Well, that's probably what she thought afterwards as well, but she has no way of knowing if those questions lead up to something important for this case. At least she shot her down herself once or twice, without any objections proposed. She's probably gonna do it more as the case drags on and she finds they really have nothing but trick questions up their sleeve.

It's really hard to succeed in acting like Dr. Curry when you're constantly lying x) Her classy/smart attitude comes from straight up facts and truth, something AH lacks cruelly x)
The psychologist Dr. Curry would be a comfort to have on your side. She’s absolutely phenomenal. She’s assertive, and stays firm. She is clearly very smart and great at her job.
This is so tiring, all of it. I can't imagine what it's like to be questioned like that for such long periods of time and having to keep a sharp, logical mind at all times. Mad respect to Mrs. Curry. She's easily becoming one of the people I admire
interrogating a forensic psychologist must be the toughest job for any lawyer - she knows how to control her emotions, she knows all your tricks with emotion, and she is familiar with the court processes.
@20-20 Hindsight it's more that her expertise in how the mind and emotions work, as well as her daily experience weaving through these complex labyrinths in patients and cases makes her impervious to their tricks and tactics to manipulate her and control jury perception
Why is 15 years of psychology experience considered to be worthless because she hasn't been asked to testify on it in a court make her opinion worth any less? This is a very weak attempt to discredit this witness.
And despite saying it was an interview and not dinner 8-9 times the lawyer continued to call it dinner and drinks. Specifically looking to discredit the witness versus trying to understand their testimony and pulling it apart.
This psychologist will get even more fame , after this trial . She’s amazing we’ll spoken very calm and makes sure she breaks down everything I love her .
There are women out there who are really going through domestic violence situations and for Amber Heard to make a mockery of this and to bait him. I am just not impressed with her. She has to pay for this. Does she have the money?
She has the 7 million Depp had to pay her to get rid of her, and whatever she managed to earn during her brief & rather unimpressive “acting” career. There’s not a way in H-E-double hockey sticks she can cough up the 50 million Depp is seeking in damages, and for her to claim that her reputation or career was, is, or ever will be worth the 100 million she has the nerve to ask in damages, is beyond ridiculous.
13:38: “I’ll read it for you if you’re having difficulties” This lawyer annoyed me the entire time with the disrespect and belittling, but goodness this part just made my blood boil. You can even see Johnny Depp and his lawyer laugh from the ridiculousness. Imagine failing so bad at your job that you need to belittle the other person you’re questioning.
Ugh yes this lawyer is so irritating!! She is driving me nuts! Curry on the other hand is handling her in such a respectful, dignified and intelligent manner 🙌🏼
attorneys do that when they're not getting the answers they want. they resort to grandstanding and attempted intimidation. it's almost as if Depp's counsel knew Heard's attorney was going to give themselves the rope to hang themselves with
Ambers counsel is clearly as rude and insufferable as she is. This poor woman having to take these questions it was painful to watch, she was just trying to throw her off and get her to say something harmful. I don’t know how she did it without eye rolling because I certainly would have😅
Thank God they can’t bully a professional into saying or not saying what they wish. She’s a forensic psychologist and clearly knows more about her rights to speak than they do. They can’t cut her off the way they do Johnny.
It's not professional nor is it appropriate for a forensic psychologist to be having a dinner at the client's home. It was foolish of Amber to agree to have it done. Forensic psychologists are appropriate for a crime case this is not a crime case it's a civil lawsuit. Many people fall for this thinking that the forensics psychologist is going to help exonerate them... When would a forensic psychologist does is look for pathologies. A forensic psychologist is going to find pathologies in most everyone... But people innocently take any evaluation baking and believing that it somehow will exonerate them when would it is actually designed to do regardless of who is taking it... Is to find all of their pathologies. People believe forensic psychologists are just scientists free of bias... And that what they're doing could not possibly be anything but objective science. However that is not true. Regardless of who is being tested interpretation of facts and subjective interpretation is 100% of what a forensic psychology assessment is it's merely an opinion.. regardless of who it is about...
How can this attorney think her demeanor is helping Amber’s case here? This witness is clearly professional, articulate, and not combative in any way but the attorney keeps coming at her like she’s on trial for a crime. It’s a bad look and makes the defense incredibly unlikeable.
Yeah but playing dirty when you’re trying to prove you’re not abusive just seems like a bad move. The lawyer got caught withholding key information (it was an interview) from the jury. AH’s team set the precedent that they tell half truths to get a desired outcome. Quasi abusive behavior itself.
And that's it: keep it Professional. That's what clients demand of professionals is that they will trust it will remain professional and not drop into name-calling, accusations of unethical behavior (whoops, that's what AH atty did many times over that interview). She is top notch! Stay on point and the other side will look like the amateurs that they are.
The lawyer tried to say " isn't it a coincidence that JD's lawyers think AH has a Personality Disorder & now you give opinion that AH has a Personality Disorder - isn't that a coincidence?" Some people can suspect something only to have a "professional" prove it - that is a NOT coincidence!!!!! ( That is what doctor's are for!!!)
This attorney's decision to treat an expert witness in such a grating and condescending manner is either ineptitude or a strategy borne of desperation. One of the quickest ways to lose a jury is to be rude or condescending to expert witnesses. The only exception is when you know without a shred of doubt that you can discredit them and you're building up to it. Otherwise, it usually backfires tremendously.
That made me think if it's possible for jury's to have biased cases. If I was the jury, I absolutely would have not bothered to listen to AH's side and just ended it with making johnny innocent and amber the perpetrator
it is not uncommon for insecure, older women to treat younger, "pretty" females this way. With hostile condescension. No matter how intelligent or accomplished the younger woman may be, the insecure older woman will try desperately to undermine and discredit her.
When the lawyer starts off trying to discredit and belittle the psychologist but the psychologist just straight up corrects all of her misleading questions and statements like the EXPERT that she is. I actually felt secondhand embarrassment.
Fortunately, the job of the lawyer is to manipulate and as a well-educated forensic psychologist she’s trained to spot manipulative tactics. 😂 She made these lawyers look like idiots.
what a horrible 22 minutes of watching an incompetent lawyer try to trash the credibility of a psychologist, she stood her ground and defended herself very well
The irony is she recorded all this to make him look bad but she's just proving his innocence The psychologist was so right about her language and the way she talks: she speaks in circles without really saying anything at all. she is forcing him to love her, she doesn't want to be rejected, she stalked him even after initiating the restraint order, this is also a serious breach, she should go to prison for what she has done to that poor man, she drove him to the end of his tether
I don't know anything about law, but what is the value of asking questions if you are the one controlling the answers that are providen. If you are asking me something and at the same time stating how much can I say then there is not value at all, it is like reading a book skipping pages. -Did you say this? + Yes I said that because... - I don't care, it is a yes or no question. Then why the f are you questioning me if you don't want a full answer.
I love how neutral she is, and the only thing she does is throw facts. That move of the defense "yOu ArE sAyInG tHiNgS iN fAvOr Of jOhNnY cAuSe YoU hAd A dInNeR wItH hIm" seemed to me like drown guy kicks.
Neutral? She went to dinner and drinks at Johnny Depps house before she was employed. ‘I did not know Johnny Depp, I had seen his movies’. Contradiction, a defensive one too if you watch her response to that.
@@ladygodiva4141 she did not know Johnny Depp personally, but she knew OF him I think it's pretty easy to understand the meaning of that, and the next two questions make it clear as well

So basically, these "you were at his house" "he served you dinner" is basically trying to prove that she's chummy with johnny and is biased. That's BEYOND insulting, she's questioning the psychologist's professionalism. Even if she managed to prove that, that's an INCREDIBLY weak evidence
Well, I think thats a strong stretegy to be honest. Of course it might be cheap, but they have to do something to put against the diagnosis of the doctor. And the best thing is to look her being biased. And even if they manage to get doubt in the jurys head, they were kinda successful.
Her credibility as a witness is pretty questionable if she has been having 3-4 hour dinners with him and his legal team. There is no doubt about that regardless of who you think is in the right or wrong in this case.
Dr. Shannon Curry is such an intelligent and patient woman. She spoke with candor and composure. Amber’s lawyer tried to have many “gotcha” moments but it didn’t work. How can a lawyer question a psychologist in their field? The way Amber’s lawyer spoke to Dr.curry was volatile.
This lawyer is harassing the witness to break her down, splitting hairs over opinions but this doctor is strong and professional! The witness answers the same questions over and over 😩
It seems like the witness knew exactly what the lawyer was trying to do, and found it laughable. The look on her face through the whole cross examination is very telling.
@@senajabeen1076 Well, yeah, but wouldn't you wish the attorney added some finesse to it instead of asking questions a child would predict are traps? This attorney has subtlety of an elephant.

What is this lawyer trying to get at exactly? She’s going around in circles. She is trying to bamboozle and confuse the witness. Who could keep up with this woman’s questioning??
Yeah it’s a little confusing, I think maybe she’s trying to say that she’s disqualified for this case because A) she has never testified within a similar case B) she met with the legal team before and would’ve had to make them believe she would give the diagnosis they wanted to hear despite not making an expert opinion yet. Idk though court is confusing

Funny thing for me is, the hubby clearly bought the muffin for HIS WIFE, at HER behest, for HER, and brought it to HER (Dr Curry), not for anyone else. Once the muffin is in Dr Curry's hands, it's her decision to share the muffin with AH, possibly out of courtesy. There's no where in this event that implied the hubby deliberately bought muffin for AH, only from AH's lawyer weird speculation.

@@DrOinkman it's a hard one to be honest. You have to defend your client no matter if you think they are correct or not. They know what she is, they know the story is all over the place. Without seeing all the evidence I could not tell you a plan, but some of the questions they got wrong where factual statements by psychologists, incorrect accounts from key witnesses they had interviewed, medical reports the list goes on. Not to mention objecting there own questions. They are ridiculous. Never be the aggressive lawyer with near rude questions and language when defending the aggressor. They should be trying to make there team, and amber seem calm and professional, the nice guys in the room. Make the jury side with you. They are doing anything but that.
I think it more borders on the flaws in Heard's defense. Her entire defense NEEDS to be that Johnny Depp is abusive. She backed herself into a corner with the accusations. Since Johnny is able to prove that these statements are false and deliberate, she's only got one option to win: make his rebuttals seem unreliable. She doesn't want to plead guilty as that will ruin her credibility since she's a DV advocate, and it seems she was the abusive partner. She has to discredit Depp and stop him from stating his case. This leaves very little the defense can do besides objecting everything and trying to exhaust the witnesses to cause an (unprofessional) outburst. So far, Depp has a case where a majority of the outcomes are in his favor.
It's not that the lawyers don't know what they're doing, it's that they're scrambling trying to have any legs to stand on in this case when they have none.

The lawyers know they’re losing. They win by asking and baiting with trick questions to “sway” the jury. But even the jury is confused when the lawyers can’t even pronounce a word and jumble these questions.
The attorney getting shut down was so satisfying to see her stammer that in all honesty. She wouldn't have started "B-B-But that's not speculation" if that objection didn't monkey wrench one of the last avenues available to her to try and trash this psychologist's reputation.
The problem is that they are grasping at straws, they have no case and are trying desperately to find something to save their case, they are likely great lawyers but they've been dealt the shittiest of hands.
I think they know very well who their client is and are playing the "bad guy" to please her (and get paid). Be aware that profiles like AH usually take pleasure in not paying people, or paying very late, or suing their own lawyers... so her lawyers are in a complex situation.

Yeah that's their ENTIRE game plan, it seems - desperately pouring through past testimonies to try to grasp onto ANY slip of wording that might POSSIBLY make their target look like a liar, even when it's really a matter of semantics or just basic human memory being not all that great when asked to remember things from years ago. If they had anything of substance at all they wouldn't NEED to try to make them look bad - they'd just be laying out reams of evidence proving that Johnny was slapping her around - but there is none - and they know it - so they try this tactic.

This is a very good example of how attempting to hector a witness completely backfires when the expert witness is genuinely an expert in their field, and the lawyer is not. The attempt to smear the psychologist with being overly familiar with Mr Depp was rather pathetic, and clearly not true. The only thing this lawyer achieved was to make Dr Curry's testimony look even more solid, and Amber's case weaker. She should have shut up and sat down earlier.
Yes. Imagine going on and on about Dr Curry having dinner and drinks with Johnny Depp when everyone knows that his entire Legal team was also present!! Talk about hitting below the belt!

They just proove time and time again that they have literally zero evidence, not even suspected evidence they could build the case around, so they're trying to make the situation as confusing as possible in hopes somebody is gonna say something they then could loose or, in the case of Johnny, is going to loose his temper, so that they could point their fingers and say "AH HA! Here's your evidence! He is agressive!"
I thought it was just me that was having a problem following through. The questions that attorney made were so bloody obnoxious and long and made zero sense to me that not even halfway through I just lost track of what was happening

Personality disorders require the pattern of behavior to be present by age 18. You CANNOT and I repeat CAN NOT develop a personality disorder in response to trauma at 35 years old. It is not possible. This lawyer should be rightfully embarrassed for her line of questioning.
This already made no sense before After reading your comment and the way you worded it, makes the idea that you can develop a personality disorder this late in life in response to trauma 1000x times more idiotic.
What are you talking about? The idea that it is literally impossible to develop a personality disorder (there's no such clear definition just fyi) after the age of 18 (just couldn't be 22) is not a thing.
@@tffvn4492 It is a thing. The behavior pattern that constitutes the personality disorder needs to be present before or at onset of adulthood. Quoted from the DSM5: "The pattern is stable and of long duration, and its onset can be traced back at least to adolescence or early adulthood." During my clinical psychology degree, practitioners giving lectures on personality disorders generally told us that the behavior being present by the time one enters adulthood (age 18 in my part of the world) will make up 99% of all PD cases. If you have a proper understanding of personality disorders and the intense dysfunction they bring, you will understand why it is so unlikely that such a large qualitative difference (going from no to a PD) would occur in middle adulthood. Being diagnosed later in life happens frequently, newly developing one is practically impossible.

The level of disrespect that the lawyer presented to Dr. Curry during this entire cross(?)examination is unbelievable. She could barely avoid tripping over her own words when asking questions, but she's in perfect tune when belittling Dr. Curry's responses.
The messy haired woman was like a deer in the headlights from the moment she was exposed for being wined, dined and given flattery to give her testimony.
Bredehoft brought up court documents from February 2021 from Depp's attorney filed in February 2021, stating Curry would testify to Heard having borderline personality disorder, making false allegations and being a perpetrator of intimate partner violence. However, she did not meet with Amber until December 2021. The ‘psychiatrist’ is a fraud.
I'm sorry that Dr. Curry had to put up with this, but I'm heartened by this attorney's clownishly hostile performance because that tells me they're losing this case and they know it :) Bonus golden moment @ 20:46-22:22 Lawyer makes insinuation; Depp's team object that it calls for the witness to speculate; judge sustains; lawyer _snaps at judge_ "that's not speculation!"; judge sustains; lawyer woolgathers for several seconds; lawyer adjusts her tone "it goes to bias your honor"; judge sustains again. WOW. She managed to alienate the judge and make herself look like a fool at the same time. I'd almost think she was on Depp's payroll.
That attorney is so freaking rude, I am surprised no one shut her up. She wouldn't let the Psychologist finish her sentences. Why was the Judge allowing her to get sway with this.
I couldn't believe the passive-agressive line: "I'll read it for you if you're having difficulty" and just flat out telling her "No" when the psychologist asks whether she could explain what she meant.
That's what they're paid millions of dollars to do. Court rooms are hot, contentious places, the more you pay the lawyer, the better and more ruthless the lawyer and service will be.

That made me think if it's possible for jury's to have biased cases. If I was the jury, I absolutely would have not bothered to listen to AH's side and just ended it with making johnny innocent and amber the perpetrator

Actually she didn't nees to defend herself as she didn't do anything wrong
The irony is she recorded all this to make him look bad but she's just proving his innocence
The psychologist was so right about her language and the way she talks: she speaks in circles without really saying anything at all.
she is forcing him to love her, she doesn't want to be rejected, she stalked him even after initiating the restraint order, this is also a serious breach, she should go to prison for what she has done to that poor man, she drove him to the end of his tether

When the Dr said "can I say what that means?" And the lawyer coldly says "no". The faces of the people in the back says it all
The laughter from the crowd too. It is both unexpected for some one to be so rude and ruthless, but completely expected from Heard's legal team.

They're in complete shambles and it continues to show everyday of this trial💀

@@tffvn4492 It is a thing. The behavior pattern that constitutes the personality disorder needs to be present before or at onset of adulthood. Quoted from the DSM5:
"The pattern is stable and of long duration, and its onset can be traced back at least to adolescence or early adulthood."
During my clinical psychology degree, practitioners giving lectures on personality disorders generally told us that the behavior being present by the time one enters adulthood (age 18 in my part of the world) will make up 99% of all PD cases.

@@Emily-mv4cx This is what I heard.
@@Emily-mv4cx That was said too. I'm about 5 mins in, and my god this lady (the lawyer) is just beating a dead horse and playing semantics to get _something_ that'd make it sound like Heard was practically ambushed when it seems to be pretty apparent & evident that she'd been a key source to all the ruckus all along.
all the talk about the muffins took me tf out XD
When did she ask her that ?
I didn't think was possible to have any lower opinion of lawyers until I watched this woman in action
Don't forget there's good lawyers too, such as the ones representing Mr Depp
@@cancelcasey any lawyer who defends someone who’s guilty is bad. Which is what polecat is saying in simple terms
LAWYERS are so much politicians in ÙSA.
I don't know, the other guy objecting to his own question is more memeable
@@attackhelicopter9851 If no one defended guilty people, the only way to make the world fair would be to have no one defend innocent people either, which would doom a lot of innocent people that are bad at representing themselves. Amber's legal team is a joke not because they're defending a guilty person, but because they're comically bad at it.
