What's your favorite tour on youtube and best nugget you picked up from the tour?
It would honestly be so hard to pick. You have done so many great ones! I loved the pedal wall, the dangerfox desk, the sound anchor stands, the paper under the snare metal thingy's... lots of cool tidbits.
I like watching all the videos but I prefer watching the less than EPIC studio tours. The spare room, without a large console, without 100k in outboard gear, without 30x $3k-10k mics, closer to something I have but they've made the best of a difficult room with less gear, DIY acoustic treatments and some nifty workarounds. Learning what people did to make the best of limited space and gear to make it work is far more valuable than throwing lots of cash or Sweetwater comps at the problems.
Hands down, Butch Walker's. Not boxing things in with a separate control room.
Ray Parker Jr was a very special highlight. Also when Mitch Gallagher visited your studio. Nuts. And all the Colt collabs.
The FIRST person that comes to MY mind is Jim Daneker
I appreciate this video SO much. I too watch a ton of “Epic Home Studio Tour” videos, having a home studio myself. Before Covid I never thought about cameras, lighting, video editing, “content creating” - but learned out of necessity to keep pushing forward with music while the world was shutting down (including months of gigs that were canceled). I was immediately drawn to your channel on my first watch a few years ago. Your videos are beautifully filmed and edited. So, thank you Andrew. 🙏 Cheers from Texas.
Hey! The work you do on this channel is fantastic. I'm from Brazil and here it's difficult to have access to quality equipment and instruments, and seeing these fantastic studios and learning about the stories you show is amazing. Let's move on!
You should really do a video from Vancouver and tour Warehouse Studios. 1 of 3 Neve from AIR studios, incredible tracking room, glass windows and lots of natural light. Very impressive.
Andrew, your studio tours on UA-cam are exceptional and truly the best in their category. Each tour captivates me with its epic storytelling and immersive experience. I find them to be not only highly informative but also immensely enjoyable. Your content consistently exceeds expectations, and I eagerly anticipate your future uploads. Keep up the fantastic work!
Wow, thanks!
this channel has helped me immensely over the last few years develop my "home relief studio". After a long day at doing what "pays the bills" it is fun to decompress in a small environment full of different types of gear to inspire impromptu events of musicality. Whether by myself or getting together with friends once a week, to just enjoy gear, sounds, stories and even jam out is great and imho necessary. Sadly I'm stuck in a town called "Nashville" so it would be almost impossible to feature and there is no high end gear to really brag about just a modest collection of "bang for the buck" stuff .
what you’re highlighting is is exactly why I watch these. I couldn’t care less about the expensive consoles and rack gear. I love seeing people’s ergonomic, aesthetic and workflow choices.
The golden nuggets as I refer to them!
Just wanted to say that I really enjoy your videos and it's been motivating me to keep writing. Great work Andrew.
You absolutely need to tour Sneak Attack in Lexington, KY. Amazing studio and Jason is the best ever.
Dude you are the pioneer of the epic studio tour!
I love Andrews channel here. He has (& Deadmau5's studio) inspired me in my studio build.
I'm trying my best with what I have. Up until now it's been build build build... (9 months of it)
2024 is officially the 1st year I will invest into music production with no more building! Ahhh!
Thanks for your inspiration Andrew!
It’s been a great year Andrew. Thanks for your diligence and drive! Happy New Years!
Fantastic video! Thank you, Andrew.
Okay so I wasn’t able to finish the video this morning. I just finished it and something interesting studio tours have shown me is little ideas I’ve had for gear or instruments that I can’t find info about online, and don’t necessarily want to spend a bunch of money and break it. Well occasionally you’ll actually see people doing exactly what you thought of, or an even better way. Giving you the go ahead.
UA-cam can be a godsend for musicians.
Tony Anderson Plug and Play Studio 💯
Love your videos and work. As I said in a comment below, these videos are invaluable not for the rack gear/ console lust but learning how to think ergonomically and with the work flow that is best for your personal uses. It’s my biggest takeaway from these.
Hey, Andrew, if interesting spaces is something you're into, I have a friend who has his studio in a decommissioned ice cream freezer. He has a channel here called Shut Up and Record. It's a neat channel, and his space is wild.
Taking notes 📝
Whats up my dude
@@AndrewMasters learning and researching brotha 🙏🏿
You gotta go to Scotty Wilbank’s place in Atlanta. The Rockporium!
I grew up in and learned music in a state of the art epic studio. A studio so nice that everything I’ve ever experienced since then has been lackluster. Lol every drum set I’ve ever played outside of that studio sucks in comparison, even if it’s actually a good set. That’s how incredible a good studio can be.
Andrew if this thing I do ever blows up cmon up to Louisville and I'll track some music with you....💯
Hell Yea !
Woo!
Now you got me thinking! 👍 So much has changed in my studio since you did the tour not long after I moved in. Should I do an update?
yours are the best though
I think at least allowing the viewers to hear their system would be a great boost, a tour and hearing a little of their work in the domain through their speakers would be a huge PLUS!
I think there is one more aspect of your delightful work: clarity. You "clearly" explain for your audience, whether seasoned pros or folks just getting it going. You are appreciated.
Appreciate that!
Andrew what are the dimensions of your studio. Great info
I have felt like some kind of demonstrative element has been a big missing piece in the studio tour. A finished mix also isn't quite as interesting as seeing the whole system that is the studio in operation. Even practical stuff like talkback functionality is as practical as how someone deals with storing cases and stands. Talkbacks and two way communication is as big a deal as good headphone systems.
I'd totally make a tune with someone who toured my studios.
which studio is the first at 00:09 ?
Butch Walker
Love your videos! Would like to request a video of you and fellow YT'r Colt Copperrune. He makes some awesome videos as well and I think you two together would make a great video.
We've done like 4 videos together, and a 2.5 hour podcast together on my podcast channel.
What? I will have to find them. So many videos, so little time. LOL! Thx.@@AndrewMasters
I have a friend in Vegas you may want to visit. Can we talk?
For sure, you can submit studios on my website.
@@AndrewMasters ok
An epic studio has nothing to do with the ability to create GREAT music. The best music in the last 50 years haven't been "epic"in many cases. And great music isn't a few "dope" beats to my ears. It's nuanced, deep music that wake up your emotions.
It's also not about using 50 plugins that manipulate voices and instruments. It's pure voices and a pure overall sound that reaches your soul.
Totally agree with you. However this channel is dedicated to those who work in studios, nothing really to do with songwriting. You can be interested in the craft of production and audio engineering which contributes to the process of capturing great music, but isn't solely responsible as no one thing is.
