So this is yet another recast too. That movie ended with, Bruce, hiding in a jungle somewhere. This movie, as you're about to see, starts with him there. 😎👍
In the comics hulk is the strongest marvel character (not the most powerful). His feats include deystroying the entire marvel universe in a canon comic and hulk has deystroyed an entire universe with a clap.
There are two characters in the MCU where the actors were replaced. Rhodey, played by Terrence Howard was replaced by Don Cheadle after Iron Man because IIRC a wage dispute. Ed Norton was not in future MCU movies as Banner because he was a pain to work with and wanted more creative control over the character and even the director. So out he went. In an ensemble story like the MCU, every actor can get their "moment", but not if the story doesn't warrant it.
The part where Hulk flips out with the thunder and is trying to protect Betty, he gets that way because (we are to assume) that he believes the military is attacking again. Let's talk Hulk's powers: If you take notice, the angrier he became in this film, the stronger he got. It was also hinted when they showed his eyes start glowing more green while fighting (before he destroyed the sonic canons/fighting Abomination before Sonic Clap). His healing factor isn't instantly. Like his strength, the speed at which he can heal from wounds is connected to the level of rage he possesses. The angrier he is, the faster he heals. In the previous Hulk film (Ang Lee's non-MCU film), they did include him jumping really far but it looked almost too cartoony. So him leaping continents and several miles were pretty much non-existant in this film for one reason, they wanted to ground these characters a little more.
Also, let me point out how amazing Lou Ferrigno was at voicing the Hulk. It's a little sad the route they went with the character in the MCU, which pretty much saw them stop using him and started letting Mark Ruffalo voice him instead.
It's actually a reference to Thor. In a later scene the news says the search was called off due to powerful thunderstorms. Hulk is seen as a monster so the lightening strike is supposed to be Thor attacking hulk from the heavens
People tend to write this one off since Banner was recasted but its still cannon in the MCU since Tony appeared in the post credit. Yeah Ross is a sack of crap.
It always bugged me in Civil War, that he's listing the Avengers' high-profile battles, but fails to mention anything involving the Harlem battle between Hulk & Abomination, which was essentially his fault lol.
@@thedefinitionisthis all the more reason not to mention Harlem because it was partially his fault he doesn't want to be part of the blame 🤣 very Ross of him
@@thedefinitionisthis I mean yeah. When he was going to nuke NYC to destroy abomination who would have walked out of that without a scratch, all of a sudden he’s worried about casualties? He also committed multiple human rights violations with the Sakovia Accords
What makes this hulk so great is seeing that Hulk isn’t just a brute that has strength, he’s still a part of Dr. Banner, which means he still has some level of smartness to him.
Edward Norton is a control freak, he tries to rewrite the scripts, he terrorizes the directors, he fights with the producers. they did not want troubles all thru the mcu, so they replaced him.
The actor who played the restaurant owner (Stanley) was Paul Soles. He was the voice for Bruce Banner in the 1960s animated series "The Hulk", and "Marvel Super Heroes". He was also the voice of Peter Parker and Spider-man in that animated series of the same period.
A lot of it was shot in and around Toronto. The university scenes were shot at U of T, and this featured the last appearance of the Sam The Record Man spinning discs in a movie.
Its funny 11:15 I see 3 Names but only recognizes 2. Take off the S at the end and you have Richard Lester the Director of Superman 2-3, Butch Cassidy Prequel and many others and Betty 😂 BTW When Toni said this at the end I went back later when Iron Man hit Blu-Ray and saw the End Credit Scene. I didn’t see that in Theaters because I was with my Aunt and her Son. Iron Man was his Birthday Gift. So I missed the Best piece of the Puzzle in Theaters I will forever be pissed about that!
Technically the end credits scene was added "later". This movie was already shot but after the huge success of Iron Man, they decided to link the two with this after-credits scene*. It wasn't until during the filming of Iron Man 2 (after this movie's release) that they came up with the idea to start building an MCU. ....And even then they hadn't yet thought of "MCU phase 1, phase 2, etc.". *The end credits scene from Iron Man was shot after the movie was already shot and done but added later as a little "wink" to Marvel comic fans. That's why it was all the way at the end of the credits, rather than part of the original ending to Iron Man.
Some ideas were thrown out or left as breadcrumbs. In this movie was Samuel Sterns (Mr. Blue). In the comic books he becomes a superintelligent supervillain called "The Leader" whose skull and brain grow larger. He became supersmart compared to Hulk's superstrong. He was often #2 arch-nemesis for the Hulk (General Ross and the US Army often #1 ). Not seen again to date in the released MCU movies, but who knows?
The scene where he challenges the thunderstorm at the caves - Peter David wrote Betty's thoughts perfectly, "What is he trying to do, PICK A FIGHT WITH GOD??? ...and which one would win?"
This was the first hulk I saw besides the tv show and everyone puts it down so bad. But technology only got better obviously so the hulk started looking better and better and they started hating this hulk and I think that was pretty unfair.
If you can find the Marvel One-shot of "The Consultant", it explains that post-credit scene so much. Here's a hint, Tony wasn't there to recruit Bruce to the Avengers like you think.
As a brazillian myself, their por excuse for portuguese in this movie hurts my soul. Still, whenever americans think we speek spanish here hurts just as much
Mark 10:23. Lou Ferrigno, is the one that said, "Puny god!", in reference to, Loki. So he probably did all of Hulk's vocals until he became, "Professor Hulk"? 🤔
My best favorite scene of The Incredible Hulk 2008 was the thunderclap to burn out the fire and the ground smash like an earthquake! Also of course, Lou Ferrigno was the original Incredible Hulk since the 70's and 80's until he played a great role as the security guard!👍🏿👌🏿
For me it is an older movie and I enjoyed everything they put in it,doesn't matter what's old or new. The "Hulk looked fantastic. I give it a 7.8 easily.
10:35 right. Cap didn't wake up till the end of his first movie which if I remember takes place in 2012. So he was still on ice in 2008. Also fun fact if you type in captain America Easter egg in hulk 2008 there's a deleted scene where at the start of the film banner tries to commit suicide with a gun It was in a snowy area. Now during this scene when he turns to hulk and destroys the area you can see during the ice rising, captain Americas shield. It was a great Easter egg. But yeah the scene is an exact play out to what banner said in the avengers 2012, "I put a bullet in my mouth and the OTHER GUY spit it out" Whats even crazier is this hulk is the same one that turns into professor hulk in endgame. Literally got the war machine treatment. Same character, same timeline, different actor. SMH. 2008 hulk is THE BEST HULK. CHANGE MY MIND. hope whoever reads this understands it better now!
As I remember, Norton had in his contact that he had say in the final edit of the film. The theatrical cut isn't the cut he wanted and he butted heads with the studio. It was kind of a thing at the time and really soured the relationship and Marvel recast with Mark Ruffalo. Kind of like how Rhodie was recast after the first Iron Man. Though, I've read that has more to do with Terrance Howard's behavior and attitude while filming the first movie and how much money he wanted to return. Also, as this was early days, this movie was made with Universal, while the others weren't. Universal retained the right to make any films with Hulk as the primary character. This is why we haven't gotten any more Hulk movies and he's just been a major character other films.
The Hulk's origin is basically that they were trying to recreate Dr. Erskine's super-soldier serum from WW2 that created Captain America, but since the formula was lost they had to guess, and they used Gamma radiation as a catalyst in place of the "vita-rays" used in the original experiment, which obviously didn't have the desired effect. Also keep in mind that the Hulk's strength is directly proportional to his rage. Abomination is strong, about twice as strong as baseline Hulk, but he ended up getting Hulk angry enough for him to beat his ass. Theoretically the Hulk can have infinite strength as his rage knows no bounds. Bruce Banner had an abusive childhood, which is why he has anger issues and what ultimately leads to that being the trigger for his transformation.
I think the problem I had with this movie is that Bruce just learns how to control in this movie which is kind of cheap it’s like they wrapped it up and put a bow on it. I mean this is one of my favorite movies and I hated that they did that.
Mark 11:47. Aha! In "Hulk", Lou & Stan Lee, both had cameos as security guards, walking and talking, side by side. Lou, is the one I met though in, Tulsa, Oklahoma. 😎👍
Love you Guys & your Videos 🤩💚❤️💙 When his heart Rate Increases to A Certain amount he turns into the HULK So it implies if He is Angry or Doing you know what he turns into the Hulk.
It really is a shame this movie kinda gets glossed over in the grand scheme of the MCU, especially after Banner's recasting. Honestly though, this movie is solid in its own right. It IS canon overall to the story, and still features some of the best Hulk action thus far. Although the events of the movie have been largely ignored, we've seen references to it in Iron Man 2 and Avengers 1. Thunderbolt Ross eventually comes back in Civil War & Infinity War/Endgame, and will appear in She-Hulk along with Blonsky. Definitely glad that more from this movie is coming back into play.

Abomination will be in She-Hulk tv series on Disney+
Feige said it
In the comics hulk is the strongest marvel character (not the most powerful). His feats include deystroying the entire marvel universe in a canon comic and hulk has deystroyed an entire universe with a clap.
I get nostalgic whenever I see the old Sam the Record Man shop during the final battle.
This was always my favorite hulk movie all time I hope they make another one in the future ❤️🙏🏽
Yes his work on the movie was amazing.
The character of Betty Ross appeared in the Ang Lee version of the Hulk played by Jennifer Connelly.
Also Jennifer Connelly, the Oscar winning wife of Paul Bettany(Jarvis/Vision) provides the voice of another high tech suit later in the MCU.
The doctor in Captain America was named Dr Erskine, but his codename was Dr Reinstein
@@thedefinitionisthis technically the hulk cleaned up his mess in Harlem so he doesn’t mention that incident even though it was 100% his fault 😂😂
What makes this hulk so great is seeing that Hulk isn’t just a brute that has strength, he’s still a part of Dr. Banner, which means he still has some level of smartness to him.
This week in 2008 the movie was released.
Edward Norton is a control freak, he tries to rewrite the scripts, he terrorizes the directors, he fights with the producers. they did not want troubles all thru the mcu, so they replaced him.
Now this is the HULK that Thanos feares..unlike the beta Mark Ruffalo Hulk that replaced him..They did him dirty.
😭
The actor who played the restaurant owner (Stanley) was Paul Soles. He was the voice for Bruce Banner in the 1960s animated series "The Hulk", and "Marvel Super Heroes". He was also the voice of Peter Parker and Spider-man in that animated series of the same period.
Remember the more you fight the incredible hulk the stronger the incredible hulk gets
Mark 19:55. "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger." (But learning by doing is so difficult and risky!)
Lou Ferrigno not only had a cameo but he was also the voice of the Hulk
The doctor in the lab becomes the LEADER. And the original Leader is Black.
In the Marvel Lego games, Stan Lee has Hulk powers, I always thought was a nod to his cameo in this film.
If I recall correctly, Lou Ferrigno did the Hulks roars and speaking voice in this movie
As a brazillian myself, their por excuse for portuguese in this movie hurts my soul. Still, whenever americans think we speek spanish here hurts just as much
You're thinking of Dr Erskein! ☺️
All favorite parts
This movie is very ahead of its time. Love this movie, very dark. ❤
I am a huge hulk fan too and the same reason you love it is a relatable character
But yeah the scene is an exact play out to what banner said in the avengers 2012, "I put a bullet in my mouth and the OTHER GUY spit it out"
Whats even crazier is this hulk is the same one that turns into professor hulk in endgame. Literally got the war machine treatment. Same character, same timeline, different actor. SMH. 2008 hulk is THE BEST HULK. CHANGE MY MIND. hope whoever reads this understands it better now!
Hulk is one of my favorite character

Movie: Okay....

Movie: Why are you repulsed? You asked for it.
Yes. Imagine trying to make an ensemble movie with multiple actors each arguing with the director and the screenwriters.
This is the best looking hulk till this day!!!!!
Wolverine’s first appearance was ina Hulk comic book
7:00 This might be the funniest thing I've ever seen. Hahahaha
Bruce Banner had an abusive childhood, which is why he has anger issues and what ultimately leads to that being the trigger for his transformation.
this hulk was the best by far, the story of it, themusic and the actor edward norton was great
Edward Norton didn't like the direction they were going to take the hulk character and decided not to continue after this movie
(At 30:00) it's not Sonic clap, it's Thunderclap. The sound of him clapping once is so loud it sounds like thunder.
Hulk movie is incredible
I think the problem I had with this movie is that Bruce just learns how to control in this movie which is kind of cheap it’s like they wrapped it up and put a bow on it. I mean this is one of my favorite movies and I hated that they did that.
You said it best. In that form he becomes more primal. That is why, He threw rocks at the sky during the storm. He just wants Betty safe.
“He’s almost as smart as Stark”
Well...depends on what the subject is. 😆
Hes smarter wdym😂
Don't worry, The Abomination is stored in cryogenics for a while. He's frozen
Its not SHIELD but the army did have authority to access SHIELD database
Mark 11:47. Aha! In "Hulk", Lou & Stan Lee, both had cameos as security guards, walking and talking, side by side. Lou, is the one I met though in, Tulsa, Oklahoma. 😎👍
This the Hulk that should of fought Thanos 💯
With the question, will we get more Thunderbolt Ross in the next movie series.
@@Dularr Remains to be seen. All we know for sure is that he and Abomination will be in She-Hulk. Given that the Raft comes into play again, I'm sure it would make sense to see them again outside of just that series.
Still my favorite hulk to ever exist right now... This hulk is the perfect definition of a hulk and a menacing beast perfect fit of the name
"You can tell it's and oldy, with the super coincidences. We're past this now"
Mhm sure, every sequel star wars movie wishes to speak with you.
And they are acting like Endgame literally isn't one entire coincidence where the good guys get the ability to go back in time 😂😂

First time realizing that this chopper managed to wound Hulk. Cuts, at least.
Best implementation of Hulk character. Mark Ruffalo is best as Bruce Banner but Edward Norton killed as Hulk.
Stand Lee didn't die. He's a watcher, so it would take a lot. 🤣
I know that refferrence
2003 I love Eric Bana hulk
2008 I Edward Norton Hulk
There is a universe where eddy norty continued as the hulk in the MCU, getting all those millions he deserves.
And I'm not in it ;(
Have you seen Eric Bana's 2003 Hulk? His version can jump similar to what you were describing and he grows in size when he gets angrier
If one employs a soldier with osteoporosis in his twenties, one would keep them on desk duty.

This is the best Hulk E-V-E-R. And I love the music in this movie! ♥️
