- Here is a old walk around video of one of my first LS Swapped projects. It was a 97 Jeep TJ with a 5.3 and a 4l80e Trans and a 241c Transfer case. I also had swapped a ford 8.8 rear end. The Jeep was fully rewire with a universal wire harness and had a full set of Autometer Gauges.
So much power it sits at 1300 rpm when it’s off......super sweet Jeep. It has inspired me

Very nice! I am in the middle of the exact same swap - still a ways to go. I am curious about a few things, if you don't mind. I see you ditched the Jeep's computer, external fuse block, and wiring harness. Did you have to re-wire the ignition system to get keyed power to the GM ECM? What did you do about a horn and heater blower? The relays for those are in the Jeep's fuse block.
How did you run your battery cable to the starter? In mine, it runs very close to the exhaust. I'm trying to avoid burning it.
It doesn't look like you are running AC? What made you decide to not go with it?
What cold air intake is that? I bought an eBay brand, but haven't installed it yet.

Is it possible you can still utilize the stock transmission with the 5.3L? Want to stick with an auto if I do an engine swap on my TJ

Thanks for replying. We have the 4L60E and the GM transfer case in it but the case sticks down a lot farther than the stock case. We'll have to cut a hole in the skid plate and build a casing around it I guess. Are you using the stock or GM transfer case? He was wanting pics of yours.

David Echols when I was driving it I was averaging about 12-13 city and 18-20 hwy.
But I was really needing a taller gear for better mileage cause it had plenty of low end power

I used the factory Jeep crossmember and added a 1.5” square tube riser to get my driveline angle.

To swap an LS into basically anything you can do it for under 2k all day. And thats without selling the old engine and trans. If you want to do it really cheap you could buy a full donor car for like 1k then sell off all the parts you dont need.

FILTERS...ETC...ETC...THE ONLY REASON THE NEIGHBORS KNEW ITS NOT THE GERMAN ENGINE...IS BECAUSE THE 40 SERIES FLOWMASTER AND THE CAM...HAS A SLIT LITTLE RATTLE TO IT..BUT THE TUNE HAS THE 5.3 IDLE STEADY... SOME THINK ITS COOL..SOME DONT UNDERSTAND WHY...SOME JUST SMILE...360 HP 348 TQ...ITS MOVES THOSE 22IN RIMS ON THE HWY LIKE CHILDS PLAY...IM WORKING ON WELDING UP A 2011 CHEVY REAR END...THAT WILL BOLT IN TO THE BMW PARTS IN THE REAR...SO FAR NO PROBLEMS.....I PUT A 18 GALLON FUEL CEL " IN THE BACK OF THE TRUCK..LINES RUN BACK UNDER THE TRUCK...LIKE A TRACK SET UP...MY 20IN SPARE WITH JUST THE RIGHT TIRE SIZE..SITS ON TOP....**ONE#1**

THERE IS A GUY WITH A 89 SEMI..CAB OVER...HE TOOK THE HUGE ENGINE OUT AND PUT A 6.0 LS WITH A 98MM TURBO...HE RUNNING A TRANS 6L90E ...WITH HP COIL PACK AND HP INJECTORS...HEAD WORK...THE MOTOR PUTS OUT 680 HP...DUAL MAGNA FLOW MUFFLERS OUT BACK...IT STILL GETS 14 /15 MPG..18 ON THE HWY...THAT BEATS 11MPG ANYDAY OF THE WEEK...HE SOLD THE TRUCK BEFORE HE COULD FINISH FIXING IT UP....$25.000..FOR A OLD FRIEGHTLINER - CABOVER.....HAD BEEN SITTING FOR YRS...HE TOOK THE AIR BREAKS OFF AND PUT IN..DULLEY 3500 TRUCK BRAKES UP FRONT AND MATCHING BRAKES IN THE REAR...THE AIR BREAKS SOUNDS...IS STILL THERE...HE RIGGED UP A PLATE THAT THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED AND RELEASED...BUT " ITS JUST FOR SHOW....GOTTA LOVE ...LS SET UPS...THE 350 CHEVY IS A GREAT LEGEND...AS A DONOR...BUT" THE LS IS THE NEW KING ON THE BLOCK...**ONE#1**
Evans Automotive that is some bull if I’ve ever heard some! Motor mounts, new fuel lines, exhaust mods, new radiator, new trans cooler, new drive shafts, adapter plates for tcase, new output shaft for trans, new gauges, on and on and on. $10k to be safe.

How is the transfercase holding up?
Wade Combs the 241c held up great.
How did you fit 4l80 without stretching it?
Eric Reed super short kit on the 241c transfer case and a very short rear drive shaft with a double Cardon yoke.
