I'm a huge Eminem fan. I was actually suprised at MGK's diss. I gave him huge props for putting it out there. I agree that it opened the flood gates. It truly sucks that any of the conversations have to bring up race. Eminem has set a bar that nobody can touch.

I never hated “Rap Devil” the way others have but even I’ll admit it had stupid moments like the “weird beard” line and Marshall definitely Ethered MGK and gave him his biggest “L” that didn’t have to do with his infamous Breakfast Club interview (if you know you know).
Edit: I’ve heard what the “weird beard” line is supposed to refer to, but in and/or out of context, it still borders on corny and lame, which is funny for someone who’s trying to call someone else corny like in the chorus of his diss track.
It was a bad diss track but weirdly it's an enjoyable listen, I still got it on my list 😂

I was more annoyed at MGK after the diss. His interview on the breakfast club was so embarrassing. He came off so delusional and arrogant. Chatting shit about how many records he’s sold, and acting like he was this highly respected rapper when he was only moderately successful. It really put me off him. Also acting like he had a diss ready that would outdo killshot - like we all know MGK was never topping it.
However, I love the direction he’s gone in, and respect him for keeping his career alive. His album “tickets to my downfall” is genuinely really good. Like it doesn’t even feel like he’s jumping on the pop/punk trend for the sake of it, he has a real talent for it, and arguably has found more success there than as a rapper.
I don’t fully believe in the “he got dissed so bad he switched genres” - it’s clear he was experimenting before the Eminem diss. But, the image he puts forward now is a clear shift. The dress style, the painted nails, and how he markets himself - it’s clear he’s made an effort to move away from the rap image.
I like him way more as a punk/pop artist than I ever did as a rapper.
I’m in love with that clip of Nick Cannon on wild’n out dissing Eminem. His face after he said it says it all.

One thing I really respect Em for on Kill shot was he answered every single line from MGK and the history of kill shot movie was perfect.. people were liking the beat MGK rapped over- and I agree em prob could of went crazier on the track lyrics wise to diss Kelly with “you’re a bitch etc” - but it was more about the battle- every bar MGK threw, em replied .. you don’t get that anymore from rappers , and that’s why I give Em the W in the battle 🏆🫡📺

One of the only parts from Rap Devil that Eminem might have actually took to heart were the shots about him 'yelling at the mic'. Since the release of Rap Devil, Eminem's voice has gotten noticeably softer and he raps in a higher register than his deep, growly tone prevalent throughout Revival and Kamikaze.

Lol Em has stated multiple times that he won't conform to new gen sound. He thinks its stupid and doesn't understand how silly sounds trump and create more hype then real lyricism. Hopsins quickest growing and most viral song was him making fun of mumble rappers and promptly quit rapping because it's pointless to do anything unless he really wants to do it himself. Views are empty after you have a certain amount of cash. It's easy to pander to trends and childrens addictive tendencies to profit in the short term but that doesn't make anyone happy and when the switch up happens; people get mad. I feel like MGK really did Eminem a favor. People had been calling Eminem irrelevant, old, and unable to adapt his style with time. Well, on Killshot, Eminem spit some of the greatest bars, and cadences of his entire career. Proving to MGK, and the whole world why he’s still the goat.
What sucks is that any time Em wanted to change up and try something different, outta the box, he got shit on. I loved Revival, but I also understand that I'm in the minority of Em fans with that. Em has always been able to adapt to different styles and I think that's the difference between him and almost every other rapper out there. They get stuck in one lane, and can't change.

He's said things a couple different times in interviews and such. some ppl believe Tech didn't know and some ppl don't. Myself, personally, I can see where it could have been overlooked, because it's such a subliminal diss. It's not an overt dropping names kind of diss.
Thinking about it now, it is interesting how Rap Devil sparked all of this taking shots at Eminem. And I will say looking at all these current disses on Eminem, MGK’s diss is definitely much better and he got much better luck with Eminem giving a full on diss response with Killshot.
