1:45 actually, griselda got a lot of new connections because of Em. If em didnt co-sign them, they mostly wouldnt have been on big records like they have been. Yelawolf did pretty well for himself after shady records and during
The funny thing about signing Slaughterhouse is that when Em signed them, they were featured on XXL along with Yelawolf. In that article, Em joked that Joe Budden was going to cause his problems. And he sure enough did. Slaughterhouse’s mistake was trying to go commercial when they were a crew of lyrical MCs. Their best material was the lyrical songs not the cheesy commercial tracks they did with Shady.
if u really want money as rapper then u have to be commercial... For example these are commercial rappers: Eminem, Kendrick, Cole, Drake, Jay Z, Biggie, 2Pac etc.
@@eliasl872 You can earn a living and do alright without going commercial. Most rappers don’t reach the heights of the artists you just named. Past is past and its a closed chapter. Let's move on, think positive and embrace the newly signed super talented artist of these era the one and only "EZ MIL" with Eminem and Dr. Dre as he join 50cent for hopefully same kind of success.
The problem is that there are not many people who like underground Hiphop nor appreciate lyrical rappers and it is hard for artists who are signed in Shady Records do not make radio friendly songs. The only one who did was 50 Cent.
Yelawolf was really popping too in 2015 and had even gold album but he basically destroyed his career after that. Seriously thought that he would be may more succesful than he ended up being because his music really resonated with people from countryside and “white trash”. And he made some really good radio/bar songs.

I discovered slaughterhouse when I seen their tour bus parked at a gas station by my house. I seen the name and never hear of em. Got home, looked them up and they had just dropped Hammer Dance. That beat was crazy! Crooked I was definitely my favorite rapper in the group.
Budden is just one of those dudes who are miserable and cause misery and generally ungrateful of anything in life. You cant do nothing for those type of people. You get them a job and not long later they will quit and blame the manager. They find a good woman, they complain. And worse, such dude will turn around and hate you for leaving them behind and being happy. Those dude are born bitter and will be typical bitter old men who hate everything.
Also, 52k sounds good for todays numbers in the streaming era, but this was back when you had to purchase an album to hear the music (minus limewire/frostwire/etc) so really 50k for a debut album of whats supposed to be a super group really wasnt anything special and was probably considered a flop. hence why em says he wishes their first album reached more ears
Back then 52k was what you'd expect from a new and unproven punk band on an indie label, not big names in a super-group released on a major run by one of the biggest names in rap
Since when? Who ever talks about him nowadays? Or even within in the past 5yrs lol you mentioning him now is the first place I’ve seen his name mentioned in a hot minute, 50 in his only successful artist
"Welcome To Our House" was not their debut album. Their debut album was "Slaughterhouse" and it was so much better than their sophomore album. Also, Joe Budden started the group. "When lyrics was in need around ya... Slaughterhouse was born nigga, meet the founder..." - Joe Budden
1:30 he signed friends and people he came up with first. Wasn't worried about making them big, just showing them the business so they can make their own way. Yelawolf has a core fan base like that jellyroll guy so thats another horrible example. Every person who doesnt get their rap off spotify or the radio knows gunn, conway, and benny are legit. So saying they don't live up to the hype is absurd. Not every person wants to be 50 cent. And in todays musical climate the level of success or hype you're saying these artists aren't living up to is reserved for pop artists or someone like drake. What is you're artist example of someone who lives up to the hype?
I think you are being kind. He is not a man of his word. He cares about himself only. His whole behavior on hating Em feels as if he wants Em to take him under his wing and make him as successful as 50Cent. But 50, got that big because he worked hard and continues to work hard. Joe seems like he wanted to hit it big at Em level but wasn't willing to put the work in.
@sebastiancamacho55 Joe just wanted them to put music out the way they wanted and Em messed it up plain and simple, by trying to make them big. Joe never wanted to be big you sound stupid. It's literally the opposite of what you're saying.
If we are really honest, Eminem was never meant to be a record label owner. Even if 50 Cent signed with Nas, he would have still blown. 50 Cents work ethic and talent for how to work with beats made him stand out. To summarise my point, Eminem signed a full furnished artist. Eminem can't manage an artist without song structure. Look at Obie. If your record label owner is an artist and he is still releasing music, can you ever blow like that? Slaughterhouse and everyone on shady meant to fail because their boss was not an obsessed perfectionist, and he would never sit and tell them how to structure things. He was too busy with his own music, he couldn't give attention. That's my take.
Yes but when they say debut album it’s a debut album in shady records. The E-1 was an underground album and when you move into mainstream that don’t count. The same they do to Kendrick Lamar OD album. They never count it.
Sad that Joe had to ruin a lot for himself, and not just for himself, but for his Slaughterhouse brothers. Im not going to excuse Em and Paul of bad choices they made. But I believe Em when he said he only wanted the best for them, and them to be known to world as he himself saw them. 4 badass lyricists who came together to be a monster of a group. No lie though. As long as I've followed this. Joe is completely in the wrong from what I can see. It would be 1 thing if the drama was just between he and Em. But its not. He's created all divide and drama not just with Em, but with his own crew. The 1 I felt bad for the most is Royce. I feel he has legit tried the most. And not say Croked and Joel never did... but when Joe pushed and pushed, it was clear that Royce was the last 1 standing trying to put out fires.
16:17 Revival is an amazing album Eminem puts his heart on his sleeve and everybody shits on it not every Eminem song has to be about murdering people or killing his mom or girlfriend there are some really really deep tracks on that album listen to the freaking lyrics
I don’t know WHY people would be surprised or disappointed that they didn’t make it big. Peak deep lyricism [with complex rhyme schemes] never works in the mainstream as the main grab. The masses don’t want to think, especially when they gather to have a good time. They want to be able to be completely mindless and vibe with the rhythm and emotional tone. To sing it as an anthem to whatever they’re feeling, and be able to recite it wasted. If 8/10 people can’t immediately and intimately relate to it, it’s not for the masses. When you have a following of 500 Million people who have purchased your music. You can do some crazy over the top deep stuff because they draw is already there. Hit records usually have a couple niche, non commercial, B-side tracks. Where you can demonstrate your true talent and preferences. But you can’t BUILD a huge following, or rapid momentum, off of music that requires heavy thought by people who aren’t bought-in or invested. In essence: the music needs to be able to go in one ear and out the other yet leave a worm in peoples’ ears. Where they recall and repeat it. Effortless accessibility and connection.
Thats why i was not a fan of the "Our House" album... was not what made them slaughterhouse. It was corny pop songs, party songs and trying tobe radio friendly with basic rhymes and less Joe. Joe alwyas argued we need more depth and internal songs or life. The other 3 knew that wont sell and not what the Labels wanted.
Looking at this from an outsider's perspective, the clip that starts at 17:02, looks like it's been cut in a way to make it seem that he's blaming Em. But in the end he says "I'm putting this on somebody in his fucking team". So the context of the clip is problably that Joe was mad that the album looked like it was using that racial aspect to sell more. But that he knows that Em isn't the type of person to do that, so he thinks it's someone in his team. That being said, I agree with the video. Really well done as well
Yeah 50 cent and Obie Trice really suffered from the Eminem curse.. they only went platinum, can’t you imagine.. 50 cent had the highest selling hip hop debut album of all time, coz of Eminem.. imagine if he wasn’t with Em, he could have done better than the best you could possibly do.. said no one ever. Joe Budden didn’t fail, he retired.
Damn, I was a huge fan of Slaughterhouse when they were underground and never knew this history. It's a shame we never got Glass House, it probably would have been amazing.
Joe might be a thorn in his side, but they did make Em some money. Em signed Bobby Creekwater, Cashis and Stat Quo. I don't know if the same can be said about them. Has has to regret them more.
I think the main reason most of Em's signed acts didn't last is because Eminem did a really good job of keeping himself out of their careers and letting them make their own music. 50 was successful and it's not because of some great luck, it's because he and Eminem worked together and Eminem was featured constantly on 50's albums...
not necessarily, 50 still did his own thing, just like how Eminem did his own thing after being signed by Dre, 50 followed suit but doing what 50 does.
I like your videos. but I kind of disagree about D12. they woulda been huge, had it not been for Proofs unfortunate demise. and they are huge in my book. they simply didn't have enough time to put out a solid body of work like Em has. and imo, Yelawolf is one of the best hip hop artists that ever was. still, much love to you man. otherwise, this is another great video.
thats the thing, D12 was actually building success with their albums, unfortunately because D12 was bascially Proof's group since he put them together, Proof's death meant ultimately the groups as well.
@@rafa7622 stop it, he was big in NYC because of his mixtapes before signing but that’s it. He wasn’t huge in the rest of the country and certainly not the rest of the world. He never would have had the same career if Columbia didn’t drop him and he stayed there

Joe is all over the place. He’ll diss u and give u praise within the same sentence. He injects confusion and anger into every situation he’s in. He is the reason Slaughterhouse broke up. I’m really surprised he was in the group. I knew it was only a matter of time before does what he has always done. He is the most inconsistent person alive.
1:45 actually, griselda got a lot of new connections because of Em. If em didnt co-sign them, they mostly wouldnt have been on big records like they have been.
Yelawolf did pretty well for himself after shady records and during
How did Con west and Benny not live up to the hype are you kidding me?
What’s more feasible is carving out your own fanbase, touring, festivals. That’s what Slaughterhouse should’ve done and that’s what Joe wanted to do 🤷🏽♂️Royce did the best out of everyone in the crew and it just so happens that he’s the one closest to Eminem.
Joe didn't cause any problems he kept it real .
Em was bullshitting with the group so Joe saw better opportunities and wanted out in which they all should've.
Yea the album on Shady sucked
There is no one in this Earth who can say they Made Joe Budden. That nigga is a hardworker

There’s so many rappers in different genres right now that the industry is doing way better than it used to. There’s something for everybody if you’re just looking hard enough. Unless by that you mean bringing cringy horrorcore back to the mainstream😂
lol that 50 cent
Past is past and its a closed chapter. Let's move on, think positive and embrace the newly signed super talented artist of these era the one and only "EZ MIL" with Eminem and Dr. Dre as he join 50cent for hopefully same kind of success.
since it didn't already happen, it won't happen. he doesn't have mass appeal.
I never looked into why people had beef with EM other than ICP. It's nice to see the story of these other rappers I never really listened to and get a more in depth description about what went down.
im not gone lie. kells got the hardest diss. the whole 'not alive' verse was about buddy. joe was mentioned only in the second verse of 'fall'. hard jab but machine got the worse of them all.
Em took it personally. I think he really did try to get play for slaughterhouse and what Joe did/said felt like a stab in the back.

Amen thank you, this is what those stans dont want to hear!!!

Em should of stuck to doing passion projects and left the production to Dre.

Joey is his own worst enemy!
The Rise and Fall of Slaughterhouse is underrated. Great Album🔥🔥🔥
slaughterhouse debut album happened on E-1 and the welcome to our house album was there second album
Yes but when they say debut album it’s a debut album in shady records. The E-1 was an underground album and when you move into mainstream that don’t count. The same they do to Kendrick Lamar OD album. They never count it.
The mixtape On The House & House Rules was better than the album
Great video my guy
He signed the rapper grip over a year ago and he still hasn’t blown up at all he barely gets any views even though Eminem signed him
Great breakdown. Subscribed!
Deadass.
Nah.
I enjoyed this video alot
Griselda is one of the biggest groups in Rap. Yelawolf pushes units. Royce does great. Obie Trice is multi platinum.
Griselda shouldn't even have been mentioned in the context of this video.
Joe can help anyone snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
Really well done as well
Em actually said “lyrical spiritual miracle”? 😂
Yea it was a joke before the real verse started
Yes😂😂😂😂
In ypr swimming pool😂😂😂
It was a joke which is why Budden “boos” it
And y’all think he’s better than yelawolf 😂 em been corny af so many bad songs and bad albums
Nobody can’t destroy him

Damn, I was a huge fan of Slaughterhouse when they were underground and never knew this history.
It's a shame we never got Glass House, it probably would have been amazing.
Joe might be a thorn in his side, but they did make Em some money.
Em signed Bobby Creekwater, Cashis and Stat Quo. I don't know if the same can be said about them. Has has to regret them more.
YELAWOLF or whatever
Thanks louasta was waiting.
Now I gotta listen to Purple Pills. I never really liked Eminem, but that track was bangin.
I think the main reason most of Em's signed acts didn't last is because Eminem did a really good job of keeping himself out of their careers and letting them make their own music.
50 was successful and it's not because of some great luck, it's because he and Eminem worked together and Eminem was featured constantly on 50's albums...
No it's because 50 is both really fucking good, had a seriously compelling story, and is 20x more charismatic than every other shady signing.
not necessarily, 50 still did his own thing, just like how Eminem did his own thing after being signed by Dre, 50 followed suit but doing what 50 does.
