Man... That Ctrl + Alt feature is FIRE!!!
IKR?!? 🔥🔥🔥
Young man. The next time someone tells you that "You can't teach an old dog new tricks," you can say "Oh Yeah? Well, I taught an 80 year old man who has been using Studio One for decades, something about MIDI he did not know." (Of course, I am not a dog, and am proving it by actually typing this out...but you get my drift....) Keep up the good work.......
I’m glad I could be of service 😎🤌 I appreciate the kind comment haha
Great stuff sir! The strumming and writing scales 👍👍👍
That's some of my favorite features as well haha
really helpful, thanks
Ah, now I know what I was doing wrong when trying to strum chords. Forgot to pick that top/bottom note. 😂
Also, you can transpose midi by semitones with just the up and down arrows. No need for shift and control. Give your left hand a break. Lol.
Great video as always my friend!
Thank you, my friend! haha
Known about chase long notes for a while - but worth reminding people. Good tips - thanks.
S1 Power User Alert! Haha glad to have you here!
I couldn’t get it to work properly while using a native instruments plugin, bit of a shame
You don't have to use modifier keys to move chords up and down by semitones. Just the up and down arrow keys will do.
Another good one is to change the rhythm of the chords by selecting between the two chords whilst holding down ALT. You can move the chords back and forth to change the rhythm
3:05 now, THAT, IS an appropriate close-up moment :)
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Good work. Re: near the end about moving a chord one note at a time, I believe (not at the studio) that you don't need CTL+Shift to do that, just the up or down arrow after highlighting all notes? That definitely works for single notes, so maybe...
Thanks, ctrl + alt velocity edit is very handy. Until now I've always opened the velocity panel which is kinda cumbersome.
SUPER cumbersome haha
I've been editing percussion in the velocity lane for ages and NEVER knew about this Ctrl Alt trick... 😮Awesome!
Awesome editing features here. This is going to save me a lot of time! :) Thanks!!!
Thank you for watching!
Awesome tips man!
Thank you! Awesome music. I still jam out to your song haha
Tip #1 Chase Long Notes = PRICELESS
Thank you
No, Thank YOU for watching haha
Sweet
Thanx for the tips.!
Hmmm. Tip #5, moving the notes up and down 1 note. Can that be combined with the Scale feature, meaning that as you move up and down, you’ll stay in key?
Good Saturday lesson (SOS) ... like them!!
Thank you as always for the great content! John, your biggest fan from Africa, in Zambia.
Glad to have you here, my friend!
Great demonstration! Thanks!
Thanks!
Thank you!
🙏🏾 thanks for this
Thank you for watching
I'm about 2 months into using S1, and it took me a while to realize that the MIDI notes show velocity as a meter, very clever, but I didn't know how to edit the velocity on the note itself, thanks! But really that should be a single key + click, like alt because I'm going to be using it a lot.
You should be able to change it in the keyboard shortcuts!
Great stuff my man, but you don’t have to actually hold anything down to go up and down one note You can just hit the arrow up or down.
Yeah I modified my buttons and forgot about this one haha🙃
Wahh this one was very helpful
Thank you!!
Great info, thanks for the video. I'll keep this in mind when I start creating music. (No not there yet, but I will get there)
Where are you at right now? Beginner? Or just havent had time to make music?
@@ProducingInTheBox less than beginning right now. I have the ongoing church Livestream "project" through Studio One 6.1 Artist into Vimeo and UA-cam concurrent every week.
Changed to the Mac Mini M2 so there was a new shiny bit to incorporate, setup and learn, was very well worth doing.
Researching some choices on orchestral instrument VST plug-ins to consider is where I'm at I suppose. Just short of time and money to push it much, however I will make some progress in the next few months.
At least it's my current plan, health dictates what I do, with very bad back pain, along with heart (PVCs) and lung (emphysema COPD) issues. I can't just sit about doing nothing for long, except when illness dictates. Sob story or not, it's mine regardless. 🙂
Keep up these excellent and valuable tutorials. They mean a lot to ones like me starting out.
@@DeltaWhiskeyBravo13579 Thank you for sharing! I run my livestream setup at church as well but we use Logic currently. DAW doesn't matter haha Also if you want some great free sounds (especially orchestra style sounds) check out LABS by Spitfire Audio. It's all free and amazing. Check out Nathan Larsen's video on LABS here! 👇

I hope this helped you! Enjoy!
@@ProducingInTheBox thanks much, yep whichever DAW you've got and use proficient or similar is perfectly fine.
My lil Livestream system takes lots to explain, and yet it works well. To those that eyes glaze over when I talk electronics, IT, etc. I just say audio goes in from the mics, it somehow comes out the other end on the webpage and UA-cam. Here listen to this...
thanks!
No, THANK YOU for watching!
thankyou
grat stuff, i learn a lot ;)
thankyou brooo
Great Tips. Thanks a lot. I have a question for you. I was looking for a Filter to decide what MIDI Events will be copied from one Track to another. For example, I want to switch off the copy of Program Change or Control Change events (such as Sustain Pedal) and so on. Is there any Filter like that? If yes where is it? Many thanks in advance. Best regards. Paolo
Can you show how to set up cc control numbers for instruments on the midi channel?
nice
Hi there. I was wondering if you could audition notes on the piano roll by clicking and dragging like you can with ableton and logic? I know about the listen tool but that's not really what I'm looking for. Thanks and love your videos.
Yup! Just like Logic and Ableton!
@@ProducingInTheBox Really? I guess I'm missing something..
Hi, it doesn't have much to do with videos, but with midi yes, I can't solve a problem, I use an akai mpk3mini with artist OS and despite having seen all the videos and tutorials I can't in any way activate midi learn (for assign the Akai knobs) because it doesn't appear at all in the midi screen, could you help me?
Omg why did I never stumble on the paint function
What was the point of using ctrl+alt when moving notes chromatically? Just using the up or down arrow itself will do that.
Yeah I changed my buttons and forgot about it hahaha
mac keybord the same command? it doesn't work on my mac
Try command+option
boy , this is a copy & paste from the S1 chanel.......
