It would have been a very long video! Plus I didn't really have a large enough piece of pearl to work with. It does the thing but doesn't look quite like the others.
Doug, Ive been enjoying your techniques bring guitars back to life. I'm a tool junkie also and saw some of the rulers you're using that include micro slots in them. I saw the extra wide ruler with multiple scales and the slots and would like an information on who makes it (and other rulers). Thanks for the education and craftsmanship. Fred
Someone gave me that wide one. It's in fractions of an inch. I don't remember who made it. I prefer to use either mm scale or 1/100" machinists rule. I have a 6", 12" and 36" 1/100 scale rulers. 36" one are hard to find these days but General makes a 2' one. Start here: generaltools.com/hand-tools/precision-measuring-marking/rules-gauges?p=1
I believe so. But the bracing is quite robust and I did replace the bridge patch. I chose to set it up with silk and steel strings not because I was concerned with the top/bridge but for the neck which is quite petite even with carbon graphite rods added.
There must be a lot of personal satisfaction bringing a guitar like this back to life. Thanks for taking us along on the restoration ride. 🙂
It's my favorite part of the job.
Doug you're an artist. I love seeing new life breathed into these old timers.
Thanks Tony! I have fun doing them!
Doug you are incredible, and thanks so much for sharing your work.
I appreciate that!
Well darn. I really wanted to see the fabrication of the new MOP machine head. Either way, it still turned out great.

Thoroughly enjoyed you bringing this ole girl back.......
It was a very satisfying repair!
Great work there Doug!
Thank you kindly! And thanks for the sub!
A man of rare talent and ability 😊
Thanks Brett! Your too kind!
Thanks for posting. Cool project, supremely nice work! Suspect it sounds considerably better played finger style vs a strumming flat pick.
It really sings with fingerstyle but I'm not very good at it! I'm better at fixing them :)
Great Job, nice full sound.
Thanks Goom! It really projects!
You do nice work! Thanks.
Much appreciated!
Nice guitar. Weren't Haslwanter guitars designed to use "Gut" strings?

That reconstruction of the bridge looks really good! What was that you used as a backer for the heel cap? Super work, Doug.
It was a piece of ebony veneer.
