Elvis - I Want You I Need You I Love You - Milton Berle Show - 5th June 1956 - Rare

- Please Read:
The quality varies because the video is made up of multiple clips. I have tried to edit in the best quality video where possible. I have carefully synced in a new audio track, it is much better than whats on the original video. The hiss and crackle sound has been reduced quite significantly.
- To my knowledge this performance has never been released on DVD with adequate quality. The complete show is available on the DVD " Rockin' The Nation - The Complete 50's TV Shows" [ 2003] by Pirate Productions.
-This performance of " I Want You I Need You I Love You" is definitely the rarest of all his early television appearances.
About the show:
NBC-TV "The Milton Berle Show" - Comedy/Variety Show
8.00 to 9.00pm , June 5th 1956
filmed at NBC Studios,Burbank CA
Guests:
Elvis Presley - the new singing sensation
Debra Paget (actress)
Arnold Stang (comedian)
Irish McCalla (actress)
Les Baxter and Orchestra - with his No.1 hit 'The Poor People of Paris'
Barry Gordon (child star)
notes:
- the original broadcast was in colour!!
- Elvis' first television performance of Hound Dog which he was yet to record until July 2nd 1956 a day after his appearance on the Steve Allen show.
-In my opinion his performance of Hound Dog earlier on in the program was the most important milestone of his career, because it made him a star. The day after this show aired his name started to headline the front pages of newspapers across the nation and even though most of the publicity was negative, the offers kept coming in and he soon at only 21 years of age was a millionaire and the King of Rock n Roll.
It wasn't just that Elvis was incredibly handsome. It was that he was that good looking and had that voice and vocal style. And the wardrobe style. And the moves. And the charisma and character. And through it all he was incredibility modest and humble. Think about it. This kid went from driving a truck to complete international stardom at age 21. He appealed to everyone. Young, old, rich and poor, blacks and whites. He was one them 'one in a million' you hear about. But in his case, one in a trillion.
@@deLappMedia well said, heavy price to pay for all this.
Truly one of a kind.
You're basing your comment on his appeal on Elvis' modern reputation. Back in '56, there were millions of people who hated his guts and actually thought he was the Devil incarnate.
@@johnhaladay5541 if millions of people hated him I don't think they would have put him on TV. No doubt some people didn't like him but millions?
Tem toda razão 🤩
I’ve been in love with Elvis since he started his career and I’m 77 years old now. He’s unique in every way. There will never be another Elvis, he’s still the greatest singer ever. Love you Elvis Forever and Eternity. ❤💯
Berle and Elvis what a combo - two brilliant talents and give Miltie credit - he did not look down at Elvis or rock n roll - he was supportive and encouraging - when The Colonel asked Milton if he could bring Elvis by for an audition Milton said sure - Berle said that when he watched Elvis perform he saw a great new talent - not some gimmick - Elvis was a great singer and a natural entertainer with tons of charisma -- RIP Elvis and Miltie -- they brought so much joy to this world that they truly deserve to be at peace in the after life
Elvis had it all the looks, charisma, charm and kindness and generosity a true southern gentleman.
No one can sing the Gospel like Elvis ❤️Greatest singer of all time.
Hello Angela how are you doing hope you’re having a great time with your family may God bless you and your family
Elvis Presley - the ONLY artist to be inducted into 5 (FIVE)!!! Music Halls of Fame: Country, Gospel, Rhythm and Blues, Rockabilly and Rock and Roll....the greatest entertainer/performer of ALL TIME !!!!!!!!
Milton was such a class act in his treatment of Elvis.
He was one of a handful of entertainers of the 20th century that were absolutely unique and that had a cultural impact beyond their chosen
artform
Elvis= vocal perfection
Milton Berle is hilarious here, and Elvis is naturally gifted! 👍
Elvis was kind of shy in this video. His singing and stage presents improved through the years too. I have several 45 rpm records of him. I was 14 when he was an up and coming singer. Loved him then and now. RIP Elvis.
Unbelievable. ..he was so incredible unique.
I've been in love with him and his music since I was a teenage, and I'm 68 now.
I love that Milton Berle treated him so lovingly. I love at the end when he brushed Elvis's hair back then put his arm around him and pulled him close. So much like a grandfather or something :)
what gave you that impression...when he said his singing made the pigs squeal?
@@stevefowler5970
I took it to mean that he made the pigs squeal. . . like all the girls squeal.
Like: The girls squeal, and even pigs squeal when he sings because he is THAT good.
@@stevefowler5970 you took it the wrong way😂
NO fake sound filters or mic tricks pure voice!
My Father was 11 years old at this time and my Mom about 9 years old. Mom passed away this January 12th 2022 to cancer. My father and mother loved Elvis's music and played it just about every single day as far as I remember. I am turning 55 July. The memories will never fade.
Now my Father is so looking forward to seeing the new Elvis film coming out. I will take him to the theater as soon as it's released. He is so saddened that Mom is not here to join him now on this. To me and my Sister, Elvis still lives through our Dad ❤✌🏻
Did he enjoy the movie?
@@thecensoredmuscle563 Yes he did very much thank you. He said twice though, once during the film then once again after leaving the theatre that he wished that mom was here to see this and mentioned how he misses her. He was emotional through many parts of the film. He loved the film and so did I.
May your mom rest in peace!🙏🌹
Elvis is The King!💖💖
THIS IS SO ADORABLE!!!!!!!
And such a cute little skit too, before the song (and the Attack of the Fan Girls right after the song XD)
I haven't ever seen any *other* recordings of this, and I'm a *very* recent Elvis fan, but what you wrote in the description box... You have put a LOT of effort into this! And it looks AMAZING! Thank you for taking the time and effort to do this!
The backing vocals are also great.
Never seen this before but, as always, Elvis is sensational. He could do anything with his voice, which meant he could be serious and playful - makes him the perfect singer.
Elvis was a great vocal and visual talent. That, along with the original kinetics, gave everyone in the audience something to remember, regardless of whether the person was partial to visual, auditory or kinetic dominance in terms of absorbing and enjoying the surrounding world.
Elvis was everything no wonder everyone was after him
I'd hate to be a man standing next to Elvis lol. He totally is the only one you see.
oh my .. he looks so dreamy and extremely handsome... 50s Elvis was the best for me..♡♡♡
How can anyone not like that....
36 Years Later & Still His Musical Inspiration Continues To Inspire Millions.
Ele era perfeito, pena que se perdeu e acabou morrendo na maturidade.Amo.Elvis o melhor do mundo.
Hola Nara, ¿cómo estás? Espero que la estés pasando muy bien con tu familia. Que Dios te bendiga a ti y a tu familia. Espero que todos estén a salvo
Wonderful voice and human, the king
God given talent and beautiful!
Thank you so much. I'd really like all the Fifties appearances of Elvis in a good quality. It's a shame we don't have this in better solution! Thanks very much for your work!
I am very surprised a lot of people haven't seen this. I am 36 years old and I have seen it so many times I have it memorized.

The same here, only two years less, from 1987,
I have been an Elvis fan for almost 50 years, and have never seen this until now. Elvis’ second #1 hit.
My favorite look for elvis.
Love that song, I had a giggle when the girls pulled milton's jacket off even elvis was grinning 😃
Simply Devine. Even by today's standards.
+H Reed Of course it's divine by today's standards. That's obvious. There are no standards today.

Amazing performance and recording. Thanks for sharing✌️👑👼❤️🫶🧑🎄
Elvis, man this guy had it all.
Thankyou for this a thoroughly professional job. A great way to keep the Elvis legacy alive and shows the younger generation of music lovers how good he was and let's face it, it shows his "Coolness" or X factor just blew through the roof! (Like many of his era). Well Done.
Unico nell'universo che dire tutti i suoi video sono emozionanti grazie mille a chi li mette in rete
👍👍👍
Brilliant I love the way he mixes up the lyrics at the end of the song I had this for years on The Rockin rebel album
Priceless.

LEMBREI DO SILVIO SANTOS , COM ESSE APRESENTADOR. ELVIS O INIMITÁVEL, ESTRELA PRIMEIRA DO ROCK 🌟
Where did you find this? I've been a huge elvis fanatic for 20 years and i've never seen this thank you. For some reason they never include it in the documentaries. They need to come out with a documentary containing all his 50's tv performances. Every one i've seen has left this performance and a few of the ed sullivan performances out. Can't believe 11 ppl disliked this, some ppl i tell ya
Yeah luckily they're all on UA-cam now. I've always been obsessed with elvis's live performances from the 50's. My ultimate dream would be to hear a live performance of jailhouse rock from 57, or any concert from 57, but I don't think one will ever surface, but who knows, look at the Dec 15, 56 hayride that was finally released a few years ago, maybe somewhere there's an old reel to reel waiting to be discovered. Like the tupelo 57 concert would be amazing to hear
Oh I forgot to mention what a good job you did putting it together, flawless. I never knew it was originally broadcast in color, that would be cool to see. I've always wondered what color his sports coat was on this show
+New Wave yeah I was thinking more just audio, they didn't film the entire show and their camera didn't have a mic. we'd never get lucky enough to have an entire show on video with audio.
but there may b some live audio recordings hidden away like the final hayride I mentioned b4, but I'm not holding my breath lol
+Nathan Randall oh and yeah I have all the existing live 50s stuff, the little rock concert is superb, best version of long tall Sally ever. that one only Exists because the dj at little rock was going to play elvis records but decided to broadcast, and luckily record the show. even the tupelo 56 concerts aren't too bad quality for me. those were all prof recorded tho so there is minimal audience noise, as long as elvis is louder than the screaming girls haha
+Nathan Randall I just checked out that Detroit footage, crazy. you'd have to have a soundboard recording directly from elvis's mic for any of those 50s shows, you can barely hear him through the auditorium speakers like that dj on there was trying to do. I don't think he realized what he was getting into, you can hear the surprise in his voice, priceless lol
Finally we have access to all Elvis TV performances.- thanks
I love this song.
thank you i have never seen this before. Also thank you for all the good information.
Thank you so much for the memories I love it love Elvis, the king Rip.Milton Rip.❤😘😍😥👍👌💋🎸🎶

Great job with these videos - every now and again the original sound can be just heard and shows the effort you put in to make these videos audible. thank you ^_^
A classic!
Fantástico 🥺❤️

Elvis looked annoyed when Uncle Miltie came out behind him and pulled that opera bit. I would be too.

Canta e encanta, viva Elvis Presley.
The best performance of "IWY- INY- ILY" he ever did on TV.
