Ironwill wide, slicktrick viper, Simmons tigershark, are all quality broadheads. I had a rage not open on a whitetail buck, got lucky and found it. Love watching your bear hunts. Good luck guys!
All good broadheads! I've heard of the Rage opening up before with the collar. Guys were lining the blades up with the slit when they should've been lining it up with the tab. I don't know if that what your issue? Appreciate the comment!
Excellent review! I’ve done the expandable experiments with many different manufacturers and with a host of mixed results. Much happier with a cut in contact, non expandable head. Made the switch and haven’t looked back. Currently shooting the Valkyrie and they have preformed flawlessly on the two bulls I have shot in the last 2 years. They are spendy, but so far, very impressed!
I’m using Grim Reaper 3 blade mechanicals this spring, super pumped!!
Great choice, good luck!
I use the same thing for literally everything from javi, coyote, deer, elk, and bear
The Grim Reaper was on my string for my past moose hunt. Didn't get a chance to use them. But they are super accurate.
If your a Rocky Mountain Gator fan like me I’m going to try a NAP Ti 2 blade with a 2 3/16” cut. About as close to an original Gator 100 chisel tip I can find. Took a 7’6” bear with a 19 3/16” skull using the original Gator 100 with chisel type tip back in the 90’s.
That's a big bear, sounds like a good broadhead!
@@rattlingjunkie It was my first bear...and biggest to date. Complete pass through. The Gator 100 was buried in a sapling when I found it.
All the years I’ve bow hunted starting in the 60’s !!
I used Bear std head and I took my deer and bear!!’
Wasp 3 blade was my next head , it worked well
Several mechanical heads followed once they became legal in my state !!
I settled on NAP 2 blade head and it’s been fine !!
Rage heads I’ve looked at but I have not bought any just yet !!!
All fine heads!
VPA has a new 3 blade // 300 grains // 1- 1/2 cut. Like all VPA heads,,they are tough as nails. And fly PERFECT
Awesome broadheads!
I'd use the rage with a 500gr + arrow. The momentum will push it on through and get the pass-through you want. I use a piece of scotch brite and really work the back side of the blade where it makes contact with the feral while it's opening. That removes any burrs and helps it deploy perfectly everytime. A heavy weight arrow behind a smooth operating trypan is bad medicine for critters.
Thanks for the idea, seems like a good one!
Look at Tooth Of The Arrow. They have several good broadheads. The broadhead makes a good size hole. Made out of machine one piece steel. Easy to reshapen. This week releaseed the 100 and 125 gr single bevel broadhead. It looks like it could go thru some big game bone.
I'll check them out
Try the magnus black hornet serr razor in 125 grain its a flying battle axe that flies like a field point pass through everytime even through bone
I'll have to try them out, thanks!
I'm one for simple A good fixed blade this year I'm using a TOTA 1" S-Series 4 blade
That's good choice as well. Good luck on your hunt!
Saw a big bb shot with a rage hypodermic die about 8 ft from where it was shot.
It bled out in about 20 sec. Never saw anything like it.
They are good, Rage has sure come a long way.
Give a qad Exodus a try. I've killed a few hogs and a lot of whitetails with them work flawless
I've used them on deer, moose and elk. They might be in my quiver this spring.
Grim reaper would be the better choice, they always open and should pass through anything you shoot at plus they are pretty tuff
They are now in my quiver.
It's the only broad head I use, I shot two dear this year with the same broad head and is still just as sharp as when I first bought them. Cut through a total of 8 ribs and no nicks and no dulling.
Grim Reapers worked well for me.
I was actually thinking of using them as well. I got a couple in my tool box here.
Grim Reaper hybrid!
Good choice!
Rage for sure especially if your using a crossbow
Definitely a good broadhead!
Opinion on the Annihilator?
Did you ever use the swacker broadhead
I never did, I used the Grim Reaper Pro Series for this year's bear. I was pleased with it's performance.
fixed blade
They are dependable!
How about toxic heads
Thoughts on a wasp sharpshooter 150 grain?
I don't have any experience with them, but Wasp has a good reputation!
Have you tried magnus Buzzcuts
Can you get the VPA sharp?
Yes, I have got them razor sharp. I'll do a video tutorial on that.
Would not use the rage. Had bad experience with them. Dont always open.
I can understand that, but from my experience the issues with the rages have been: collars weren't properly lined up, arrow weight is insufficient, and or bow poundage has been too light. I have not experienced any issues with them, but do acknowledge that it could happen. For me I like them and out of the right set up they are very good. If you don't have confidence in something don't use it. So, Rages aren't for everyone.
Eage of glory try that
Can u tell me whtas the best broadhed for hog hunting? a 2 blade or a 3 blade broadhead
2 blade Iron Will!
@@rattlingjunkie thank u so much. And one more question can i take a hog down with 36 lbs recurve?
With a heavy enough arrow and close range.
@@rattlingjunkie so how can i get too close to the animal? Will a trap or bait work or i have to approach the animal by myself?
Check out The Ranch Fairy channel. He has lots of information on wild boars. Good luck!
Check out Kayuga Pilot Cut gen 2
How about toxic
Haven't tried those yet, but some guys love them.
No way mechanical on bears, afflict or K2 is strong n reliable!
@@deanmccabe8783 lol!
200 grain Tuffhead
NAP killzones !
I've heard of guys having lots of luck with those!
@@rattlingjunkie been shooting them for years absolutely love them
I'll have to check them out
Can you get the VPA sharp?
From my experience, anyone can get a VPA sharp! Great head
