    Ironwill wide, slicktrick viper, Simmons tigershark, are all quality broadheads. I had a rage not open on a whitetail buck, got lucky and found it. Love watching your bear hunts. Good luck guys!

      All good broadheads! I've heard of the Rage opening up before with the collar. Guys were lining the blades up with the slit when they should've been lining it up with the tab. I don't know if that what your issue? Appreciate the comment!

    Excellent review! I’ve done the expandable experiments with many different manufacturers and with a host of mixed results. Much happier with a cut in contact, non expandable head. Made the switch and haven’t looked back. Currently shooting the Valkyrie and they have preformed flawlessly on the two bulls I have shot in the last 2 years. They are spendy, but so far, very impressed!

      The Grim Reaper was on my string for my past moose hunt. Didn't get a chance to use them. But they are super accurate.

    If your a Rocky Mountain Gator fan like me I’m going to try a NAP Ti 2 blade with a 2 3/16” cut. About as close to an original Gator 100 chisel tip I can find. Took a 7’6” bear with a 19 3/16” skull using the original Gator 100 with chisel type tip back in the 90’s.

      @@rattlingjunkie It was my first bear...and biggest to date. Complete pass through. The Gator 100 was buried in a sapling when I found it.

    All the years I’ve bow hunted starting in the 60’s !!
    I used Bear std head and I took my deer and bear!!’
    Wasp 3 blade was my next head , it worked well
    Several mechanical heads followed once they became legal in my state !!
    I settled on NAP 2 blade head and it’s been fine !!
    Rage heads I’ve looked at but I have not bought any just yet !!!

    VPA has a new 3 blade // 300 grains // 1- 1/2 cut. Like all VPA heads,,they are tough as nails. And fly PERFECT

    I'd use the rage with a 500gr + arrow. The momentum will push it on through and get the pass-through you want. I use a piece of scotch brite and really work the back side of the blade where it makes contact with the feral while it's opening. That removes any burrs and helps it deploy perfectly everytime. A heavy weight arrow behind a smooth operating trypan is bad medicine for critters.

    Look at Tooth Of The Arrow. They have several good broadheads. The broadhead makes a good size hole. Made out of machine one piece steel. Easy to reshapen. This week releaseed the 100 and 125 gr single bevel broadhead. It looks like it could go thru some big game bone.

    Would not use the rage. Had bad experience with them. Dont always open.

    • @rattlingjunkie
      @rattlingjunkie  2 роки тому

      I can understand that, but from my experience the issues with the rages have been: collars weren't properly lined up, arrow weight is insufficient, and or bow poundage has been too light. I have not experienced any issues with them, but do acknowledge that it could happen. For me I like them and out of the right set up they are very good. If you don't have confidence in something don't use it. So, Rages aren't for everyone.
