Wilt Chamberlain is arguably the greatest shot blocker that ever hooped. We've had some great swatmen in league history: Russell, Thurmond, Olajuwon, Ewing, Robinson, Mutombo, etc., but none I really think come close in terms of sheer numbers AND ease as Wilt. In that regard only the first, Russell could begin to compare.
Of all of his monumental records and abilities, IMHO it's this one that stands out as the most realistic and dominant regardless of era; it doesn't look cartoonish or outlandish to read that he blocked upwards of 12 shots in a game as it does that he averaged 25+ rebounds a game or the like. Accordingly, I find it also so very sad that his shotblocking was never officially recorded.
Wilt Chamberlain stands out as the most statistically dominant regular season player ever, and it's to our benefit that he does and did. His career is literally statuesque, and who doesn't like amazing sights such as that?
It's honestly a pity blocks weren't counted back then. It's said wilt blocked 26 shots in a random game counted by the philadelphia score keeper. If anyone doesn't believe that there's a televised game where he blocked 23 shots so yeah wilt has that record unofficially too
*edit does to doesn't
DICK LONG Harvey Pollock - longtime NBA Stat keeper - stated years ago that Wilt and Russell blocked over 7 shots a game for their careers, with Wilt blocking more - around 8 per game. He also said Nate Thurmond was a great shot blocker as well....
MY MAN THERE IS NO REGARDLESS OF WHAT DECADE....HE PLAYED IN HE MATCHED UP WITH 10 HOF CENTERS....AND DOMINATED ALL OF THEM EVEN KAREEM WHEN HE WAS OLDER..... HE DOMINATED NOTHING BUT HALL OF FAMERS..... AND IF YOU WANT TO COUNT PFS... HE MATCHED UP WITH 15 HOF BIG MEN.....HE PUT UP RECORDS AGAINST TOP NOTCH COMPETTION AT HIS POSITION......
I no doubt believe that from 1960-1969, Wilt probably had a couple of seasons where he averaged 20+ blocks a game for the whole season. If blocked shots were counted, Wilt would have averaged a triple double for his career and have the league record for most goaltending calls lol.
@@ericstrat3579
I'm willing to bet that it's even more because Wilt averaged 8.8 blocked shots over the last 112 games of his career on a busted knee that was reconstructed during the primitive era of surgery. I believe he averaged 20+ blocks a game in his prime.
Always amazing to watch
I wish there was footage of him touching the top of the backboard
Truee
Vince said he was able to do that in High School.. now imagine that.
Jared Cook a TE NFL player could touch top of backboard in Highschool
With his reach and 40 inch vert it's not that hard to believe
@DICK LONG I'll trade that for footage of that 100 point game
I like the more frequent uploading recently.
I will continue - thanks!
Wilt Chamberlain Archive what’s the somg
Wow, Wilt was the greatest player and athlete to ever play! I live in Chicago, home of Air Jordan too!
Jordan was better in the post season.
MJ's role was always the same.
Wilts role changed over time.
With Philadelphia Warriors it was score alot.
With 76ers it score and pass alot. He got triple doubles in the playoffs.
With Lakers it was Play Defense, Rebound and pass.
@@Johnkoth - If Wilt's blocks were recorded, He would have had several years where he would have averaged a triple double.
as others sated, more so toward the later part. but in his first 6-7 seasons he always went up for 6-7 games either in 1st or 2nd round against the singe greatest dynasty basketball has ever seen. and a big part of that was they were the greatest DEFENSIVE TEAM in the history of basketall. so 35 precent of wilt's post season games for when he did score a lot was againt them. an dthe 2nd half of his career. he still faced them 24-26 percent of his post season games. geee i wonder why the numbers would be that way
On the last play when he was 25, you can see he brushes the net near the top of the rim with his tricep or shoulder area. So, his head is above the rim not below it.
And that was on the way down!
To me, that deformation of the net looks like a video artifact due to the interlacing
Wilt ruptured his knee and still can hit 12'9 at 36. Goat
Thats ridiculous..
Wilt was an amazing athlete. He actually came late to basketball, started playing it in his mid teens. You take 22 year old Wilt and raise him with today’s advancements in nutrition, medicine and yes - PEDs - he’d be far and away the most dominant player in the league. They’d list him at 7-2” and he’d be 275-280 out of college and end up at 325 muscular pounds in his later career.
@@ericstrat3579 environment and mentality are big factors along with talent. The mentality in those days (wilts et al) were different
He was not reaching 12’9 at 36 these videos are taken from a low angle and from a distance which makes him appear higher than he really was, pro dunkers use this angle a lot and it makes it look like their head is at the rim often when it’s not, if you had a more level camera you would see Chamberlain is not that high.
Sometimes when I see stories about Wilt I think that's just an exaggeration, people are making him seem greater than hw is. But then I see shit like this. At this point I'm not sure he was even human. Like seriously, how the fuck did this man exist. Insane. Thanks for all your videos, dan you're one of the best people on youtube
People don't understand that Wilt's bone structure was bigger than Shaq's and Wilt was much faster.. His stamina was far superior. He's on another level from Shaq
Wilt would be too much for guys today. Both him, Russell, The Big O, Kareem and a few others would be perfect for any era.
So happy you still upload this incredible footage. Been a fan for years. Keep going!
Don't forget West. Great 2 way player back in the day. Block a ton of shots for a guard ( would block turn around jumpers of forwards from behind all the time). Of course he also had a ton of steals in his career with his extra long arms and quickness.
@@krisharkleroad8 i feel Jerry West does not get the respect he deserves. Great offense. Great defense. And one of the more forgotten clutch players of all time...
It saddens me to see these legendary players left out and forgotten in todays history.
@@independency1993
The league doesn't promote it's legends like the NFL and MLB. I guess they can't sell shoes of players who no longer play or is even alive.
Don't forget Baylor. It's ironic as players are bigger, stronger and much more athletic overall,But I would take guys that started in the fifties Wilt, Russell, Pettit, West and Baylor against anybody.
@@independency1993 pullup jump shot: jerry west :
I can't think of anyone at 35 who could still leap like Wilt. A young Kareem could get up very quickly and often beat Wilt at jump balls and blocked his shot as well. Perhaps that is why Wilt use to criticize Kareem for not rebounding more. Though competitive rivals, Wilt new what a talent Kareem was. I love watching their old battles. Even though Wilt was a bit hobbled in some.
The two greatest centers that ever lived. No disrespect to any others. Just all round greatest.
Wilt ruptured his knee in 70 that the reason he was hobbled
@Felix Bruyns Kareem was maybe 225 early in his career. But in his autobiography, he says that he weighed 255-270 toward the end of his career.
Cy Tab - and Kareem’s leaping ability in his later years was not even close to Wilts later years. Kareem’s athletic decline was more pronounced than Wilt’s, but Kareem still had his skyhook & along with Magic - those two factors prolonged KAJ’s career by another 4-5 years....
Felix Bruyns Wilt was at least 275 from the beginning of his 5th year and onwards. He retired at around 310.
Bill Russell got alot of Rebounds and #2 in RPG career.
His heaviest was 240 lbs.
He even got alot of rebounds vs Wilt.
He was a better rebounder than Kareem.
So was Moses Malone.
Bill Russell & wilt best shot blocker ever
Keep in mind, Wilt weighed 300+lbs, 36yrs old, and still had an amazing vertical leap
and a major knee injury he had JUST recovered from
He could dunk an apple if he held it in his mouth
IPhone or laptop? ;-)
That's impressive!!!
Always so excited when I see you've uploaded a video
Woahhhh I thought in the beginning that was a vid from the Magic/Bird era. Fantastic quality!
GREAT VIDEO SIR.....VERY MUCH RESPECT FOR YOU AND SUPPORT YOU ALL THE WAY!!!!!....
Cool video.
The Goat.
Man, the late Wilt at age 50 could still do this like he never left the NBA
Greatest gifted athlete ever. He could really jump high
Wilt won the Big 7 high jump championship at Kansas without ever training to be a high jumper, he just went out and won it.
he is 1A the most gifted athlete ever in terms of multiple things and excelling is jim thropel but wilt is a very very close 2nd. but wilt would ceratinly beat him in a strength contest.
@@jingqi9106How did he not train for high jumping, he literally did it throughout high school?
based on 112 games of available data, which came from commentators and journalists, he averaged 8.8 blocks
I think he was best player ever , Celtic fan.
The difference between Wilt and almost all other shot blockers in history is that Wilt was a high jump champion at 7"2" (with shoes on like centers are measured now) and could wait until the ball was in the air then go get it. Shot blockers like Russell, Thurmond, Jabbar, Olajuwon, Shaq, etc... generally had to block shots quickly before the ball went too high. But Wilt was so tall AND had great jumping ability so he could wait longer. This video shows that well. Russell was a great shot blocker and intimidated at a high level, of course, but Wilt is the GOAT shot blocker. 💪
being super tall AND with long arms even proportional to his height, also means that he might not even need to time his jump properly, and can react more quickly by sometimes blocking shots without actually needing to jump at all.
Wilt was a very good high jumper but not as good as Bill Russell. Wilt was the Big 8 champion high jumper for several years, but was never nationally ranked. Bill was ranked the 7th best high jumper in the world while in college.
@@aimpointrod I have never seen anybody get up as high as Wilt when blocking shots. Wilt would wait until the ball was in the air then go block it or catch it. Russell was a great shot blocker too but he blocked it quicker from the shot release. Wilt is the best shot blocker I ever saw.
@@aimpointrod wilt did the high jump and had the worst form i have ever seen and did it. and hardly practiced. but his actaul high jump mesaurement in 1956 would have put him in 11th place in the olympic games that year. so there is that.
but let's just say that is the case. bill russell 's high jump was 2 inches higher than wilt. but russ was 3 inches shorter. and i am sure his arm length given all that was an additional 5-6 inches short for a total reach diffrential of 7-8 inches. so wilt would still outblock him with a reach of 5-6 inches and on rebounds
Underrated
The GOAT.
Dude, theres just nobody who comes close to Wilt in terms of natural basketball ability. I consider him to be the greatest ever in terms of physical tools as a basketball player. If you were to put me in anyones body to be the best ever at basketball, I'd take Wilts body.

He is the true 🐐
Can’t help to wonder how many blocks per game Wilt was averaging back then. Just by watching a few Wilt’s games my guess would be at least 5 bpg (as a career average) maybe even more😱. What do you think guys??
Did some research and here it is « When Wilt Chamberlain played basketball, the NBA didn’t record blocked shots, but a news archive and game films reveal blocked shot data from 112 of Wilt’s 1305 NBA games. In his 112 games where blocked shot data was recorded, Wilt averaged 8.8 BPG (the most official recorded BPG in a season is 5.6 BPG by Mark Eaton). If Wilt Chamberlain only averaged 4 BPG for his career, he would have 5220 total blocks and be the all-time leader in blocked shots (Hakeem Olajuwon holds that record with 3830). »
@@MisterJoe203 1205 games///1045 regular 160 playoff
DICK LONG if that’s the case he might have averaged a triple double some seasons. With 30+pts 20+reb and 10+bpg 🤣
Wilt blocked more of Kareem's shots in 27 games than the rest of the league did in 20 years. On a bad knee.
Wilt averaged 8.8 blocks a game at age 36. I bet he averaged 20+ blocks a game in his prime.
My thought was "Who is that white guy who's in there jumping nicely with Wilt Chamberlain?" Dave Cowens! People forget how good of an athlete Dave was during his disappointing short prime.
he was the reason of some of those rules now in nba
Some shots may be back then what we would call goaltending, but other players but then had opportunities also.
Most athletic NBA player ever, nobody else comes close
one of the most athletic people of all time
Naw, he was tall and had decent vertical but so did Artis Gilmore. More athletic than MJ or LeBron? No.
Kris Harkleroad he was also very fast, Hank Stran said “He was faster than Rice”. Wilt was also able to bench press 500 pounds. MJ and Lebron probably couldn’t do that
@@krisharkleroad8 my g wilt was getting legitimate offers to play when he was 50. he could still bench like 460 in his fifties as well plus he played volleyball professionally after he retired
He was one of the first professional athletes to work out extensively in the off-season. He could afford to -- he was the NBA's first six figure player -- but it paid off.
WILT CHAMBERLAIN THE 76ERS VERSION OF WILT CHAMBERLAIN...... WILL SWEEP EVERY MVP AWARD TODAY EVERY YEAR JUST ABOUT!!!!!!!
Greatest player in NBA history
his feet must have been destroyed after those leaps. There's no shock absorption in those shoes at all.
People were touching the top of the backboard in the 60s no problem wearing chucks. The trick was wearing two or three pairs of socks.
Head right around the rim, fingertips up near the top of the board every time. Egads!!
What's the difference if Wilt's vertical leap was 36" or 45", He was the greatest scorer, rebounder and shot blocker The NBA ever saw or will see. The GOAT by all measures.
at his prime .. Wilt's max vert is actually 42.75 inches
Finally someone with common sense and that's DAMN high for a 7 footer
he was said to be able to do 50-52. some doubt it. becasue it is as high or higher than jordan. and yes in th efootage availible we never see it. but that is becasue in order to get your max vertical you need to take a good long running start to do it. taking quite a few steps in almost every shot you see he either jumps from flat foot. or taeks 1-2 steps which isnt a run and he stil gets to about 40. if he ran at full speed and tried to jump up he would have close to 50. for sure.
he did win the NCAA bit 8 high jump three years striaght with barely pracitcing. in fact in 1956 when he did it. his hieght woul dhave placed him 11th in the olypic games that year.
if you are one of the top 100 high jumpes in the world. you defintel have a superior vertical. yes i know you lean in and rotating around the bar. but you still need amazing veritcal just to even do that.
@@Johnadams20760 don't forget wilt had a 7' 8" wing span.
@@bruceabraham2871 oh i know , i know that his standing reach with his longest finger is nine foot six inches high. the top of the back board is 13 feet. ther eis footage of him getting just a hair under that which already is 42 inches so i subtrace 1-2 just to play devil's advocate, however, he was only taking the 1-2 steps. meaning if he ran at full speed i am sure he could get 6-8 more inches
About the most impartial people on the basketball court are the referees and if they are reporting to the sports journalists, Wilt Chamberlain's vertical is 13 foot 3 inches, its arguably somewhere in that region, referees aren't noted for trying to make sportsmen better than they are?
So he's got 45 inch vertical from a flat footed stance and he's only going for the ball and not height.
Still image what he could do at his peak, if he could dunk the ball from two steps behind the foul line, something only rarely accomplished by the very best dunkers who needed half the court as a run up to achieve a similar result!
What could wilt chamberlain do if he was going for a record and Bill Russell wasn't far behind, he was a great dunker of the ball, who relied on his teammates from distance!
Still share the idea that Wilt Chamberlain didn't waste energy, he only did the work necessary because all else ment that towards the end of the game he might have been tired and miss shots from distance!
Look at Wilt at the end of the 100 point game, the photo tells the story, Wilt was exhausted at the end of the game and struggling to play his medium range shots with accuracy, wilts dominance put his team in with a chance always to get to the playoffs, but the level of physicality must have been extraordinary and made even someone with Wilts abilities a very tired individual!
The question in my mind is: How many of his blocked shots would now be considered defensive Goaltending? It seems to me that every time The GOAT Basketball Player dominated the league in anything, the NBA (Nothing But Arseholes) would change the damned rules. An yet, with all that The King of all Jayhawks still holds more records than the next ten players combined!!
What a God-Given talent he was!! And he was criticized for being a clean player as well!!! Just ask Bill Russell about that facet? Wilt Chamberlain was such a kind man that he refused to play dirty because he didn’t want to injure others!!! What a great family he came from!!! Now THAT is a GREAT AMERICAN IDOL!!!!
they changed the rule to offenisve and defenisive goaltending within his first year. so all the stats that were unoffical showing the 8.8 per game and games with 20 plus ext.. even though not tracked, they didn't call it so likely most of them are not
Chuck Taylor Hi-tops!
That newspaper article said he had standing jump of 3 foot 9 inches high which is equal to 45 inches....
Greatest ever and it's not even close. He probably averaged double figures for his whole career, and probably had a career high of over 30 blocks in one game.
Wilt high jumped 6-61/2 in college,Bill Russell, just over 6-9 or 6-10. Bill Russell at one time was no. 7 ranked in the world
A former Kansas University staff member stated in one of the comment sections that Wilt was able to clear 6'11 before he left Kansas. Wilt won the high jump title three years in a row without ever practicing the high jump or even taking off his warmups
As the great Oscar Robertson said: The record book doesn't lie-The greatest of all time....
just stumbled upon these so basically that quote from the news paper stated that wilt's standing reach is 9ft 6 inches and his highest reach is 13ft 3 inches, so [(13x12)3]-[(9x12)+6] = 45. so wilts real max vert is 45 inches not far from 48-50 inches from other stories a real anomaly of man and the greatest athlete basketball has ever seen.
You also gotta factor in that he’s jumping that 45 inches in chuck Taylor’s. Put him barefoot or theoretically in today’s shoes, and he’s reaching that 48-50 mark. Doing anything athletically in chucks is like wearing wooden blocks wrapped in a plastic bag
@@demonative9945 also factor in. all his jumps in the game are him jumping from either a standing position, 1 step 1/5 steps or 2 steps. when you meausre a veritical like tday. they run at full speed an djump up and hit a bar that sticks out and that is how they measure you.
@@Johnadams20760 yes very good point! One thing I forgot to mention was his high jump footage, as far as I know, his pr was 6’ 6”, using a western roll, and with only a 3 step approach rather than an 8-12 step approach. And as a former all state high jumper, anyone who can western roll (clear front ways) 6’ 6” off a jogging three step approach is an Olympic gold medal high jumper even by today’s standards. with proper technique and a full run up, he’d be clearing north of 7’ 6”. This is even without mentioning the fact that he’s twice the size of any normal high jumper and far heavier.
@@demonative9945 yes. i mean when i say how funky it looks, it is almost like he is trying to hurdle over it. Now the late 50s was before they did the fosbury flop and i think that added probably 8 inches on average for most people whne others did it. but i guess the point being that given similar conditions. 6'6 was between lower then the final for 10th place in the olymics that year and slightly higher then what was 11th place so i mean i would consider that olympic level for sure. Bill i think jumpted 2-3 inches higher and actaully would have been the 2nd highester jumpre but bill probably had better form. oh wait, but get this. how about that. bill was literally an olympic qualifier for a high jump people say wilt played against centers that weren't good athletees. yet his biggest rival was an olympic level athlete. hmm
@@Johnadams20760 Bill Russell is indeed one of the most criminally underrated athletes. That play where he jumped over a man on a fast break should be seen by more people.

He couldn't block Cowens shot, but he did alter the direction and made him miss.

We most likely haven't seen any of his greatest leaps.
So who's the greatest shot blocker, Wilt or Russell?
wilt. i always find it funny that they always say wilt was the ultimate on offense and bill was the opposte the greatest defenive player of all time. but wait. wilt ahd more rebounds per game than bill. more shots blocked per game offical or not. and this was both in the playoffs and regular seaon obth. when they played each other. wilt did this everysingle game. wilt had the highest rebounds ever 55 against bill russell
I heard story he took a quarter off the top of the backboard
True story. He came to my local gym and did it when I was a teenager. It was no big thing. He did it all the time.
@:55 that's too damn high. They know Wilt has more block shots than anyone in history if the NBA. He has so many quadruple, pentuplet and sextuplets doubles until it's insane. Of the records recorded Wilt has 90+ recorded, 75 which will never be broken. The records he had that were bested by contemporary players, it took them 15-20+ years to break, took a three point line, several rule changes and twenty years of playing. That needs to be noted.
As much as I love Wilt highlights - we need to stop pretending he had a 48" vertical leap lol.
I don't know. The quote in this video, from a referee, claims 45"
Ciarán Plunkett
Another youtuber made a video on Wilts real vertical leap. He made a lot of calculations and looked at a lot of film. i think he said that Wilt's vertical was more in the range of 40-42 inches.
Which is still higher than any other center ever.
Normally it's the guards or small forwards that have had the highest true vert. Wilt, was still impressive by any standard but your point is well taken.
He could jump straight up higher than other players
@@ShinetheLightofTruth I think you're right. The leap in this video when he was 25 clearly had his head a few inches above the rim, which means that 40" sounds about right. I can't think of any 7 footer who could get that high. Combine that with his insane reach and you have a shot blocking monster.
he won the ncaa bit 8 high jump three yers straight with hardly any pracitce and the crappiest form you ever saw. his height in the sprot would have placed him in 11th place in the olympis in 1956 when he did that.
Show this to tre
I saw all of his games in LA and I never saw him get close to the top of the backboard. People in Philadelphia say that he could touch it. Russell could touch almost as high. Wilt preferred jumping from a squat while Russell jumped best on the run. Russell could jump eye-height to the rim.
Both Russell and Wilt touched the top of the backboard in front of multiple witnesses. That's common knowledge. Wilt used to pluck quarters off the top of the backboard for fun.Again common knowledge.
Wilt had knee surgery in 1969.I am sure he lost some vertical because of that.

Wilt has 10000 blocks but is credited with zero and they say his stats r inflated r u sure google is making us smarter ?
They have to deflate his stats to make a case for their favorite guy.MJ,Lebron,Kobe,Kareem etc.The funny thing is they want to use stats to prove their case for their guy when Wilt is the all time stats leader. Its oxymoronic. They shut Wilts offense down half way thru his career telling him to rebound and defend and let other people score. When did they ever tell MJ that or Lebron?Wilt is the greatest ever by far.Its not even close.MJ knows it.LeBron knows it.Shaq knows it.Kobe knew it.Its only the fans that are delusional.
Michael who?

Those two he got on the legend Kareem says all you need to know. One was goal-tending but it was still amazing.
Doesn't look like it
No, it wasn't.
That's debatable.
he had 3 against kareem in one game actaully. 2 of them were on teh same play
@@Johnadams20760 if he had 3 in one game… that points to a VERY OFF NIGHT for Kareem. It never happened again from Wilt (my guess).
I believe:
Wilt
Sampson
Olajuwon
… we’re the only guys EVER able to block it. Half of those very few blocks were goal tending, from behind, or Kareem shooting it left-handed.
I’d say it was blocked no more than 8 times TOTAL in his 20+ year, +38k point career. I’ll take those odds. 😂
🐐
I can imagine how many prejudice refs called goal tending on a legitimate block 😠😠👹👹
Young Wilt was not Human hahahahaha
No doubt Wilt could really get up but those looked like goaltending to me.
NBA refs today would’ve called this goaltending
I believe that Wilt most likely would have the record for most goaltending shots ever.
The last play was whistled for goal tending. The first play was an all star game so they let it go. Honestly it's a tough call to make on close calls. Very few players could get up as high as Wilt to challenge shots like this, and it becomes difficult for a ref on the ground to judge it in real time. Wilt most certainly many times in his career got credit for blocks that were actually goal tends, and was whistled for goal tends that were actually blocks.
Doubtful his vertical jump was 3'9" = 45". If it were, there would be many photos and footage of him with his head well above the rim.
To take quarters off the top of the backboard as Wilt was known to do.Its estimated that a vertical leap of 43 inches minimum would be required. Wilt at his maximum claimed a 52 inch vertical.Wilt was a track and field guy in high school and college. They did accurate measurements. Basketball didn't measure anything back in those days.Just height and weight.
This is basically Javale McGee except he actually gets called for goal tending. Ball is clearly on it's way down at 0:52. Javale used to do this dumb shit all the time and smack it into the stands.
Wilt got called for goal tending on that play too. Wilt got called for lots of goal tending, and he blocked a ton of shots. In his prime he used to try and block almost everything shot near the basket. Because he was so big and could leap so high from a stand still.
another evidence of Wilt having at least a 30" vertical, yawn. I've yet to see footage of Wilt getting the top of his head over the rim, let alone a foot and a half above it if we're to believe Wilt's wildest tall tales :)
They showed a picture(don't know which game, sorry),but his head was about even with the rim.He was 7-1,standing reach 9-6.So he jumped around 3feet in that picture. He high jumped 6ft6 in college
@@anthonymuex7886 agreed. somewhere in the mid to high 30"s seems to be where he likely peaked in games there's footage available of at least
@@anwealde To my understanding, with his standing reach at 9-6,he's only 6inches from touching the rim flat-footed.
So jumping with his head even with the rim would put his reach around 12-6.
The "record" for max reach in the NBA is 12'8" by Dwight Howard. Before that it was Shaq at 12'6". They didn't always keep track of that, just like other things. Anyway, NBA refs witnessed Wilt with a max reach of 13'3". There's no reason for them to lie. Anyway, there is no game footage of Shaq or Dwight anywhere near the top of the backboard. Shaq had a 37" vertical and I doubt he came anywhere near dunking from the free throw line, like Wilt did. If you knew the game, you'd know that post players rarely reach max vert in a game. And just so you know, Jordan doesn't have a 48" vertical. either. His max reach is 8'10" and his max reach is 12'5". Again, when did you ever see Jordan with his hand near the top of the backboard in a game. Never.
Lot of goaltending
The point of the video is to show his elevation. But if you watch it all the way through you'll see I even state it's 1 block, 1 block attempt, and 1 goaltend which was whistled as such. So there's just one goal tend.
Wilt was a great leaper but come on...these only look like this because of the angle they were taken
Agree. His head is not even above the rim.
For the 2nd angle maybe. Not the first and last efforts.
What center is better in today's game?
@@stephenbrodsky6986 Which Center today is as athletic?
It looks like 30-36 inches max vertical leap.
