The method does work for MPC one by connecting a usb interface. This gives the MPC all of the interfaces I/Os. I think this is a relatively recent update
I wish we could assign Effects send to outputs thins way you can still have your program on 1&2 and still send out to 3&4 for external effect on certain sounds... that would be a killer update
you mention being able to use any 'stomp box' mono or stereo. How would this setup work with a mono pedal? what cables would you need to go stereo out to mono in?
With a mono pedal, I will process just one channel, so I'll choose one output 3 or 4 - if my source sound is stereo, I'll examine the left and right channels to choose the best option. To resample the signal after the pedal I'll set the MPC sampler to receive a mono channel. One interesting option with the stereo pedals like Helix is that you can take a mono signal from the MPC and make it stereo using the fx of your stereo pedal. In this case, I would set up the MPC sampler to stereo. I hope this helps!
Thanks for the video. Can you export stems with the processed audio on them (using the export feature) or do you have to resample them in order to have the processed sound? Thanks
I think you have to resample your sounds before commit to the export feature! You can benefit more from Helix using it with the MPC software as an audio interface - here is my video about it - I'm using Ableton Live , but it must work with the MPC software. ua-cam.com/video/S7SfOK3yFtM/v-deo.html
Is there a way of recording the effect into an audio track instead of into the sampler? You can monitor this way but whenever i try recording I get nothing #workinprogress
This is great thank you! I've tried it on my mpc live 2 and it sounds amazing! I was wondering of how do you get to record the sound coming from the pedal. because at the end all you get is the dry signal from the recording if the pedal isn't connected anymore. Is there a way around this? Thanks.
Well , if your FX pedal is connected to the sampling input of the MPC you can re-sample processed sounds. Other method is to record your FX pedal output into external recorder. Hope this helps!
Mpc one here…if I ran the MPC main outs to my mixer, mixer alt 3/4 outs to a guitar pedal, guitar pedal back to mixer, mixer main out to monitors/mixer secondary out to MPC ins…would I just resample and listen through mixer headphone out? Great video btw! Thank you ✌🏻
Yes, this will work! Also, if your FX pedal have headphone out you can monitor the sound from the FX pedal (no need for the mixer), just don't forget to disable the monitoring option on MPC to avoid feedback loop!
@@MusicianParadise of course! Was just thinking I could probably run the mixer’s aux send to my pedals, and then into the stereo return, yea? Wiring makes my head want to explode
@@MusicianParadise quick update: while running a solo’d track, I can send the signal through my mixers fxout, deep fry it with pedals, and resample. BUT I just found out my mixer isn’t a multitrack interface mixer. SO while I can do solo track by track individually and then resample, I cannot edit an individual track while the other tracks are simultaneously playing
I would resample the Output of MPC One processed with the FX. The trade-off is - in this case, we cannot use the monitoring option on MPC One sampler due to the feedback loop, so we cannot hear what we are doing. Some workarounds are possible: monitoring thru the headphone output of your FX (For example L6 Helix has one) or, if your FX does not have a headphone output you can connect it to some mixer to monitor the sound before it goes into MPC input. Hope this helps!
Yes, you can use unbalanced cables. This will not damage your MPC. Balanced cables can make a difference when cable length longer then 3m and the device you connected has balanced inputs.

Don't forget to enable "monitor in" on the sampler page and route your MPC track you want to process to the MPC outputs 3/4 in order to sent it into the Helix inputs as shown in the video starting at 1:46 - hope this helps!
The easiest method is to record the processed output to an external recorder or Digital Audio Workstation (DAW). Alternatively, you can resample the processed master bus into the MPC's sampler and assign the processed sample to the drum group pad.
You will need some workaround to do that. If I'm not mistaken, MPC Touch have one stereo input and one stereo out, so it is the same limitation as MPC One.I think you can still do it with the MPC touch - you just need to turn off monitoring when you record it back in.

Not that I know of, but is best to play safe and check the levels first reducing the MPC input gain!
