Why do I not have a device configuration menu on my other options in my boot menu? The drives are recognized but I cannot set them up as one drive using raid 0
@@GreenPCGamerscom I'm also looking for this longer NVMe backplane cable. The Dell P/N is 02GPFW as clearly seen in your video -- which is great BTW. This differs from the shorter cable that's used to connect to the mini SAS receptacles on the motherboard. I"m sure you know all of this already. I've reached out to Dell support and they've said the longer cable P/N is no longer available and there is no replacement. The connections are a mini SAS SFF-8643 on the controller side to Oculink SFF-8611 on the backplane side. This is not a common configuration and also very hard to locate. Dell used a cable that basically bundled two of them together into one ganged 8i connector on the controller end -- probably for a cleaner install and simplicity vs two cables banging around. Anyway, if you have any ideas feel free to share.
Thanks for the video, but missing an important part i think : once the virtual drive is created , how to access / configure / format the disk in Windows ? I have myself configured a virtual drive in raid 1 with 2 x 2Tb , but W11 disk manager refuse to format it ... Any idea please ?
I have an issue, I am using the exact same controller with a PRECESION 7920, and I connected 4 drives to the RAID controller, but when I go to the device configuration menu, the drives are not discovered, and I can’t even boot to the OS. Do you know what might be the issue? Btw, I don’t have the backplane.
We’ve only tested it in a Precision T5820, T7820, and T7920 Workstations. It could potentially work in other models if you could find a compatible oculink cable harness.
i Have that same raid card into my 7820. The PC came with the card installed and already hooked up to the 4 SAS 2TB 10K Toshiba hard drives in the Bays. I mounted them in Raid5 but the problem i have since day 1, is how slow is that Raid5 virtual drive!! I even contacted Broadcom and they just said that it may be caused by the high temperature of the ROC on the board (he saw from the logs i sent) but i have a doubt about this. When writing on that drive, not only the speed is incredibly slow (40-50Mb/s), but in perfmon you can see the drive being at 100%. i opened the case and saw that the card was installed in slot 0 (first slot on top). Is this the right slot to install it? Could this be the issue??
Those are some really slow speeds! The top slot is technically an acceptable slot for that card. However, you should try the card in the slot 4 - PCIe x16 75W Slot to see if there is a difference in performance. We normally only use that controller with NVMe U.2 SSDs, so we've never tested it with regular 7.2K, 10K, 15K HDD. Keep us updated on if you find a fix.
Hi I have a HP Z840 can’t upgrade to window 11 but I can bypass and install Windows 11. I bypass and installed windows 11 on another PC and after awhile got the blue screen. What do you think going to happen in 2025 when windows 10 support finishes would the HPZ840 will be obsolete? I tried installed Linux but couldn’t run games. Do you know any Linux version can run game such as Fortnite? What about Crome OS is it possible to install on HP Workstation and play Games. Any more tips on the subject? Can you make a video on the subject.
Microsoft will probably release a legacy version of Win 11 that has less security features that you can run on the older systems. Or maybe one of the major chip companies will make an IO TPM module for legacy systems to allow them to support win 11.
Please can you test a 4090 founder edtion to a dell precission 7920 and also for a aftermarket CPU cooler.
Thank you :D
We still need to get our hands on that particular GPU. Once we do, we'll test it.
@@GreenPCGamerscom and i try tridentZ RGB DDR4 3200mhz but it doesn't work. Is there a possible way make this work?

Question: Can this be done on T5810 workstation..
Thank you.
No, because you wouldn't be able to install the back-plane kit in to the T5810.
What type of cable did you use to connect backplane to 9460-16i card? I need to get a longer one. OEM doesnt reach the 9460-16i

That would be a whole other video sharing that with all the different operating systems. Make sure you have the latest firmware and driver installed.
you need to load the RAID card drivers during Windows 11 setup, using the option provided during windows 11 setup.

You must have the NVMe backplanes + cabling for the Controller to recognize the NVMe U.2 SSDs.
What machines is this card compatible with? I have a R420 and 720xd but also getting a Lenovo p510 soon

don't use RAID 5, use RAID 10. RAID 5 sucks and is slow and is risky with current large drives. also use SSDs in 2023...
