Using MOTION CONTROL to DOLLY Through INTERIOR SPACES

  • There are three ways we use motion control to dolly through interior spaces. One ways it to use a gimbal attached to a rolling tripod to smooth out all the inconsistencies. The other two options are similar in that they both use sliders to control the x, y and z axis. With a little additional help in post production you can produce footage that effortlessly glides through interiors.

Glad I got to see your C200 on the edelkrone. It didn't bow like some reviewers say.

Its finicky at times but works great in controlled environments when you can take your time. Definitely not a run and gun setup.

Wow I’m surprised to hear the edelkrone has been so finicky. Bummer. I didn’t realize it couldn’t do vertical movement either. Interesting. Thanks for this video!

We tightened the belt to add a little more tension and it seemed to have solved the issue. We did an outdoor shoot last winter that also involved interior shots. I think the temperature swing between the two extremes had an adverse effect on the belt tension, which led to the ongoing issues we had. Thanks for comment!

@@adppod Was about to mention this. The belt tension issue is kinda annoying but once you know how to fix it it is very easy. If you have trouble with losing connection or sometimes the bundle not registering the Slide Module V2 or the Head Plus I have found a solution to this by doing the following steps (sequence is crucial) :
      1. Remove power from all edelkrone devices
      2. Turn off Wifi and Cell Data on the phone you use the app on
      3. Close the app for good (make sure its really not just minimized)
      4. Open the App and press "Smart Pair" - keep the screen with the instructions on!
      5. Power on the Slide Module first and wait a second (literally)
      6. Power on the Head and wait for both beeps
      7. Once the last beep was audible press "Start"
This method started a very solid connection that lasted throughout the whole day, including locking the phone etc. We had severe problems before to make this app work consistently but this did the trick.

@@tigermafia2100 Wow, very helpful. Thank you for the detailed reply. We will certainly take these steps into consideration next time we have an issue. Thanks for watching.

This was so helpful and so great. Thank you! But the music... the monotony of it! Kill me!

Thanks for this, really nicely presented, I just got a dolly for my tripod and was thinking about doing the same thing, got the edelkrone but two head one units, love it but some quirks that need to be ironed out.

What tripod are you using with the Edelkrone? Just got that same setup and need to upgrade my tripod. Thanks!

Benro A373F with fluid video head

@@adppod Was going to get the A474F 100mm tripod, is the A373F enough to hold the edelkrone slider with HeadPlus? Was going to go with the larger Benro because I was worried the 75mm A373F wouldn't be able to handle the slider/head while fully extended. Thanks for the info!

@@fatheadmediapro Hey Jonathan. So I thought we had a Benro Tripod but I was wrong. We have the Induro Alloy 8M Video Tripod Kit with the 100mm Bowl. If you are able to find something equivalent you shouldn't have a problem supporting the Edelkrone. Of course we use it with the legs splayed all the way out for maximum stability.
