Just a small tip: If the battery is at a very low voltage, keep the jump starter connected for a few minutes to raise the voltage on the 12V battery prior to starting.

If the battery is too low, these jumpstarters will not send power. It's a safety feature so that if you accidentally touch the leads together, they will not arc out. It requires a certain amount of voltage from the car battery to give the jump starter a signal to then start sending power. The VTOMAN has the "Boost" button that allows you to bypass the safety and send power no matter what. It's handy in cases like this where the car battery is so depleted.

Thanks, I enjoyed your video and I subscribed. In all honesty, I will not buy anything except Noco. With Noco you know what you get!... With all these Chinese products it's a gamble since you don't know what you get! The specs of most manufacturers are extremely overstated! Most jump starters don't detect a battery that's under 2V, therefore they don't work... Some of them have "boost" buttons... The boost button don't add power, it rather bypasses the circuit board and give direct power connection to the dead (below 2V) battery. That's why you need to use boost mode below 2V. If your jump starter don't have a boost mode, you will not be able to start your vehicle if the battery is below 2V. What's the point of having an emergency device If that device can't operate in a "real emergency" (battery below 2V)

Bro. Finally an honest reality test of these. So many BS unboxing videos out there. Thank you for actually stress testing these. Wish you would have stress tested the AC port on the Cat. Very helpful tho.

I have used this cat booster on my exact same 4Runner. It only started once. The other two times I needed it, it didn’t work even after letting it sit for a while it just didn’t have enough to jump the 4Runner off that was only down to 10.7v so by all means should have been an easy jump.

Right?! Its not that big of an engine to turn over

@@pantrypreparedness This is what I need to know. My car 12 battery is a 600 CCA 2.4 L gas engine so what jump starter pack do I need just look for 3 L gas engine and up or the amp or the mAh or peak current or starter current?

connect positive first then the negative terminal

Doesn't matter in this case because the leads weren't even live when he connected them to the battery. If they were live, you wouldn't want to connect to the negative battery terminal anyway.

maybe not related, but whenever I had a dead battery in my van, it wouldn't start or turn over until it was charged to at least 12.5V. It's also likely I had the wrong size battery at the time 🤷‍♂️

I got the winplus a few years ago as a gift, and I've jump-started my tundra a few times since then and its always worked fine for me. But maybe my battery wasnt as dead as yours.

Jump-N-Carry has a new line of lithium jump starters. Hit me up if you want to try them out!

Imagine making a video like this and not knowing how to boost a car. Positive to positive, negative to bare metal chassis or engine block. Connecting to the negative dead battery terminal puts most of the current into the dead battery, not the starter motor. You wan to make a ground circuit, not a circuit across the dead battery...

Is that why the CAT battery didn’t work?

    • @iancurrie8844

@@inandoutofreal1ty likely. The cat is nothing more than a standard SLA car battery in a plastic box. Can car batteries start cars? Yes they can.

I was actually curious about this when researching for this video and I saw mixed recommendations from the experts. The Vtoman jumpstarters instructions say to attach the negative clamp to the negative battery terminal so I went with the recommendation from the product engineers.
Also, the negative battery cable goes right to the chassis so wouldn't the negative battery cable provide a similar contact with the chassis? Assuming your negative battery cable connections are good. Most of these jumpstarters have very short cables so they can't reach much further than across the battery.

The CAT 1750A jumpstarter is actually a lithium battery, not sealed lead acid

    • @frank4one
      @frank4one 3 місяці тому +1

Many LI starters are designed to connect directly to the battery, and that's why their leads are so short. Many are also designed to be compatible with hi-tech start stop batteries and, therefore, need direct connection to battery.
The Cat battery looks like old tech and was probably first trying to charge the dead battery, whereas the VT has a boost button to dump all amps regardless of a totally dead battery.
