- Grant rejections, self-doubt, and low motivation | PhD WEEK IN THE LIFE
Hello friends! If you are new here, my name is Katherine and I am a third year PhD candidate studying history at the Ohio State University! I am a social historian of war, and my area of focus is France + Australia during WWI.

Similar situation for me. Everything will be fine.
Best of luck with your remaining grant applications-I hope it’s good news! The rejection really sucks I know... I went through applying and reapplying for major grants for 3+ years before finally getting something. The rejection can be really disheartening but it’s great you’re able to remain optimistic about things!
Thank you Sarah! It is so tough. Hoping it all comes together but prepared to pivot if I need to change my dissertation.
Sending best wishes on the grant funding! Hopefully you will have good news really soon.
Best of luck with all your grants! I'm in the same boat. I have a trip planned for the end of May, but I haven't even heard back from the grant people who were supposed to get back to me in early April. Again, so so freaking frustrating. I just hate those weeks where you feel so discouraged, and impostor syndrome kicks in like crazy--but oh well! Nothing we can do about it now.
Hope Texas was fun. I was also down there for the weekend in San Antonio! Nice to get away from the midwest for a while haha
Thank you! Oof that is so frustrating!! Hoping for the best for both of us. Haha I am enjoying the nice weather down here!
Hello Katherine I am interested in history but my family say there isvery low scope of history
I think it is grant rejection season
I got mine canceled, too
I'm sorry! The absolute worst.
