Although it takes place much, much later Assassin's Creed Origins gave me such an appreciation for Egyptian culture, locations and mythologies that I'd probably recommend that one as well.
Not a RPG/4X, but ARPG I highly recommend Titan Quest. Game is from 2007 and more like Age of Mythology. They released a few DLCs after 10 years and an Anniversary Edition, which added new campaigns, bosses and QoL features. And you can play it online.
Age of Empires II: Return of Rome expansion is quite good and does have some bronze age representation in its technologies and civilisations. There's even a campaign featuring Sargon of Akkad.
Sumerians, that is not in the list, is maybe the best done Bronze Age game up to the moment, toghether with other two non mentioned, Egypt Old Kingdom and Predynastic. A few others much more worthy of appear were forgotten, as Children of the Nile. None of those is particulary "orientalising" in a stereotypical way (as Pharaoh looks) and are quite accurate and fun. Fields of Glory DLC, is highly anachronistic but for one small period army list, have almost no content even for a DLC and lot of units are reused from the base game and other DLCs.
Nice compilation! There's another little indie city-building game called "Sumerians" that's about, um... the Sumerians. Classic city building game in highly stylized 3D graphics. Otherwise there are the old video games "Chariots of War" and "Gates of Troy" from the early 2000s, 2D grand strategy games by Slitherine.
Just tried out Ozymandias in this month's Humble Choice and yeah, it is a really good game. It reminded me a lot of a euro-board game. I really appreciate the snappiness of it just because I can see this as something a co-op partner would be much more inclined to play over a long game of Civilization or the like. Great list, Andy!
Try Rise & Fall Bronze Age. It has a technological system where you can lose techs, a somewhat realistic populations system, monuments etc And yes I'm the dev behind it X)
Haha cool! Good luck with your game! :) it sounds very interesting, but what’s the map you’re using, is it a jpeg? It looks a bit low res when zoomed down, is that correct?
@@AndysTake well, unfortunately yes. And its 20k pixels by 20k and still its pixelated X) The game will come soon, I'm finishing the rework of all the UI so that the gameplay is as clear as possible and no bugs can be found there
@Andy's Take You forgot great Rome Total War mods such as Bronze Age Total War, Aristeia Total War, Troy Total War as well as Age of Bronze for Rome 2.
For anyone considering checking it out, _Troy: Total War_ has three game modes: Historical - a realistic take on the Trojan War. Heroes aren’t superhumans and need a unit of bodyguards to survive in battle. Units are based in reality, with the most exotic units being the all-female Amazon rosters and the Warriors of Artemis, both of which have some basis in fact. Truth Behind the Myth - a somewhat grounded take on the heroes and creatures of Greek mythology. Superhuman heroes go into battle alone. Exotic units include early cavalrymen known as centaurs, javelinwomen known as harpies, and the Cyclops, who’s basically the Mountain from *Game of Thrones* wearing a small Elephant’s skull as a helmet. Mythological - undiluted Greek mythology. The Olympian Gods directly intervene in battles with lightning bolts and tidal waves. Centaurs are half-man and half-horse, harpies are demonic flying creatures, and the Cyclops is the one-eyed offspring of Poseidon who picks up men and bites off their heads. You can also tame one of three giant monsters and their associated units; the Griffin Patriarch and its ancient one-eyed Arimaspoi enemies, the Lernean Hydra and her horde of Hydra Cultists, and Cerberus and the shades of the dead.
I was thinking of doing this, but you got there before me! I'll make my own one, though I have some excellent small type games that are good for the Bronze Age
Great video. Any games set in the ancient world (I also love prehistoric worlds too) are awesome, especially those which delve into lore, mythology, culture, folklore etc.
This will be a failed launch and a restricting game with many DLCs to leech off you. To support their other serious game in development that will be the same thing. Failed launch and restricting game. Same company mindset
@@Xarr23 Is not that, people is tired of being scammed, this series is turning into The Sims. There's even many TW youtubers who predicts Pharaoh it's gonna be awful. I just hope we all be wrong and the game becomes a truly success, and by the love of Rah, that they don't abandon it after a few patches and dlcs like the other 50 TWs games
You've missed Age of Empires 1, which covers the Egyptians, Hittites etc. :)
but I totally agree with the rest of your list :)
Came to post this. A big miss
Bronce Age is really fascinating. Especially if you think it's additional 700-2000 years earlier than the famous romans, greeks, babylonians, etc.
An old game with great replayability was Chariots of War. I have often dreamed of an updated version of this classic.
Now we can finally add to this list "Age of Bronze" mod for Rome TW II
Although it takes place much, much later Assassin's Creed Origins gave me such an appreciation for Egyptian culture, locations and mythologies that I'd probably recommend that one as well.

I find it really interesting that you mentioned the BE mod for Imperator, especially since its development was moved to CK3 a long time ago
Indeed, I think development has stopped for CK3 though. And in my opinion, the time period and mechanics fit Imperator more than CK3!
@@AndysTake Fair. Someone did pick up the CK3 version as well, I believe but the mod does indeed fit Imperator better
Great list, couldn’t agree more on all fronts. Just discovered Ozymandias from the humble monthly and it’s truly a very well designed game.
Thank you, totally agree!

I did a playthrough on the demo a few months back. Actually one my best videos when it comes to views.

Spartan was incredible, being able to have 100 k pop at Sparta was amazing😂

"Chariots of war" LoL an old Silthrine game and "Egypt: Old Kongdom"

I’m so stoked for Total War Pharaoh!
Another game i'd like to recommend is Predynastic Egypt by Clarus Victoria
Funny you missed the games by Clarus Victoria, especially Egypt: PreCiv and Egypt: Old Kingdom.
What is the intro music? It's so familiar to me.
