I like to pick a verse, and put a tune to it. I found this really helps me. It's a fun way to learn. When my son was in elementary school, I was told he could never learn so I started making songs out of his homework. He would sing with me, and now he's a High School graduate.
i use to have a verse per day and id memorize it for the day and by de end of the wk id hav all of them down....and wen a situation popped up the verse would be out of my mouth before i even thought it....God is so wonderful! thank you sir
Thank you Brother, I've been praying to GOD lately about my need to know his word and have it in my mind always, this has been encouraging and motivating for me, GLORY be to GOD
I am with you all the way on this one, brother. Thank you for this video. I would just add two things. 1) If you can say the passage out loud, you should say it out loud. 2) I have found it helpful to write the verses I want to remember on 3x5 cards bound together as a spiral notebook. You can put 100 verses in such a book. And it's small enough to carry with you everywhere. I now have a number of such books. I call them my Books of Rembrance. God's choicest blessings on you, Bracy.
It really is that simple! Thank you, my Brother! "THE LAW OF THE LORD IS PERFECT, CONVERTING THE SOUL. THE TESTIMONY OF THE LORD IS SURE, MAKING WISE THE SIMPLE. THE STATUTES OF THE LORD ARE RIGHT, REJOICING THE HEART. THE COMMANDMENT OF THE LORD IS PURE, ENLIGHTENING THE EYES. THE FEAR OF THE LORD IS CLEAN, ENDURING FOREVER. THE JUDGMENTS OF THE LORD ARE TRUE AND RIGHTEOUS ALTOGETHER. MORE TO BE DESIRED ARE THEY THAN GOLD, YEA, THAN MUCH FINE GOLD, SWEETER ALSO THAN HONEY AND THE HONEYCOMB. MOREOVER BY THEM IS THY SERVANT WARNED, AND IN KEEPING OF THEM THERE IS GREAT REWARD." PSALM 19:7-11
Your suggestion below (to memorize a passage of Scripture) is exactly right. I have been surprised to discover how many believers memorize whole books of the Bible. Check out the article "The Easiest Way to Memorize the Bible" on the WordTruth website
Another method is to make flashcards, but don't put the answers on the back. Put the answers on separate cards. Then you just match the questions & answers & make pairs. "John 3:16" goes with: "For God so loved the world.." --- Make 10 pairs of different verses. Once you know them make 10 more. --- Write numbers on the back of the flashcards so that you can check to see if you got the correct match. (Behind the questions & answers write: "Pair #1" -"Pair #2" -"Pair #3" Etc.
Great instruction in a really important area. You might also check out a web-site like by-heart DOT org for both the added motivation, reminders, etc. as well as having an ongoing, organized review that is handled for you automatically. Typically it is the review that causes a memory program to fail, so why not let this web-site handle it for you?
