This series is actually so well constructed and played. Everything is clear and more or less understandable. Whatever questions arose got answers with each coming episode. There are many similar time travelling series/movies out there that are confusing and crazy, they give the events but don'tgive the cause and effect clear enough. But this is amazing! The utilisation of scientific theories is great and the philosophy behind the storyline is mesmerising. One of a kind series. Yeah? Then why can't Hanna recognise ulrich's son mikkael as her husband Michael. She has met his younger self in the past? I still remember my first love at 14! Plus she married him so how can she forget!?
@@rjblitz5871 I dont think it's that she doesn't notice it, it's just that she doesn't pay attention to it. There are people around us who can look exactly like twins and not be related. And if we see them we won't think "OMG, is this that other guy's past/future self?!" We, as viewers, know that there is a thing called time travel. While Hannah, as a part of the plot, doesn't even think that such thing exists. Therefore the fact the Ulrich's son looks like her husbands young self doesn't make her dwell on it much, it just is a mere coincidence for her, as those two are just two different people. Sorry if the answer was long, I just hope I was able to explain what I think on that matter.

Wow this is an INCREDIBLE recap, thank you! I was a little distracted by the use of the word "actually" so often, but I stopped caring after a while and this helped me a lot. Thank you!
**So** much more than your average Time Traveling Soap Opera™️ . I literally just finished this season today but I know I’m not the only one who *still* had to pause this video periodically to remind myself of each character you mentioned, along with all of their mind-bending relationships. A rare gem where the literal family tree is even MORE complicated than the actual *plot* - in a story centered around the complexities and complications of time travel, no less! Love this video, fantastic job, and thanks for helping us all commit the 1st season to memory! It is sooo important for starting the 2nd one.
Egon died before he had the time to see Ulrich grow old and for Hannah, i guess she took distance with the Nielsen family and kids grow really fast at this age ( she says that at some point but she disturbed when she see Mikel the day of the wedding anniversary ). Anyway even if someone looks like your husband when he was young, the first thing you'll think isn't that he is a time traveler i guess.
Only thing I didn't understand, how did Helge Doppler grew up from 1953-1986 if he was transported to 1986 during the creation of the new Worm Hole or Black Hole? At the same time when Jonas gone to 2052.Only assumption I make is, Helge somehow went back to 1953, unlike Mikkel who was stuck in 1986 didn't know how to go to 2019.
Just started watching season 2, but realized I'd forgotten/failed to grasp much of the first season. Many rewinds of this video, and six pages of notes later, I have a much clearer understanding. Thank you, I can now go and let season 2 confuse-entertain me all over again!
its clear how much time and effort you put into this video. While I'll admit I'm still a little confused... that's mostly because the first season was confusing, even while I was watching it. You recapped it better than anyone on youtube has managed and brought back a lot of things and characters I'd completely forgotten about. thank you!
I think the symbolism in this show is done so intelligently. For example Jonas is the only character who ever wears yellow, and also whenever you see him learning some piece of the puzzle there are yellow lights or objects in nearby. Yellow is the color of awareness, and I think it’s used to show how important he will be later on because while everyone else is being dragged down by their problems, Jonas is learning what’s really going on and paying attention to the clues. Yellow is also the color on the barrels that Claudia finds, and she ends up being a time traveler too. Yellow seems to be the color for the good guys/time travelers
Dark is so complicated, it has to time travel to before it was created to understand what the writers intended at it's inception, then it travels to the present to ensure that it's complicated future happens the way it should.
Me before watching Dark: it’s Stranger Things! Me after 1 episode of Dark: Holy Shit it’s so much better than Stranger Things! . . . I love stranger things too don’t get me wrong. But Dark is way better.
Reza Hosseini I don’t think it’s solely for children. It’s supposed to raise 80s nostalgia. Every component of the series comes from 80s films. Dark on the other hand discusses more sophisticated philosophical topics.
This is one of the best recaps, along with another recap by a channel called "The Entertainment Lab". I'd recommend watching both recaps and you'll be full prepared for season 2. All the other recaps I've seen are stupid personal interpretations and fan theories that stray from a recap and get into too much rambling thoughts. Good job.
Why does it sound like every second word is chopped up? Surely it's faster to just rehearse the script more rather than edit between takes so much in post?
Bro, thanks, I had my wikipedia up on another screen with the series page and went through each character as you described. Pretty much cleared up a lot of thoughts.
The crazy thing is this closed cycle of events doesn't have a beginning and doesn't have an end. According to the bootstrap paradox, if an object from the future travels to the past you won't know the origin of this object. It eventually have no origin. I can't even comprehend how mindfucking this is.
bro i need a study guide or a family tree. thanks for putting together. this is so insane, i think watching this made me even more confused. not because it was a bad overview, just because i can’t wrap my head around it all lol. wild
Why does "Dark 2017- Netflix" keep appearing on screen? I kept thinking it was supposed to be the current year you were discussing. That would have been much smarter use.

the best video recap of dark season 1...and believe me, i ve seen a lot haha
same, the other guy could hardly speak SMH
Wow this is an INCREDIBLE recap, thank you! I was a little distracted by the use of the word "actually" so often, but I stopped caring after a while and this helped me a lot. Thank you!
Broooo thank you, i tried to just jump into season 2 again and was so confused lmao
Listening to your voice makes my eardrums crack just like Mads.
Heisenberg
I love the detail and work you put in this video. Now while I’m still not understanding what you’re saying, I’m gonna jump off a bridge now
this somehow made me more confused
I have watched like five videos and you are the first person to explain it in a way I understand. Thanks
How Hanna didn’t recognize the kid Mikel if she’s already married him ?
My question exactly
Same thing with Egon Tiedemann, how come wasn't he able to recognize Urich later on in 1986 since he had cause him a lot of trouble in 1953?
Rymsei he did recognized him
@@enisberbatovci4637 Have you seen Season 2 ? Cause it's pretty much explained.
At the same time when Jonas gone to 2052.Only assumption I make is, Helge somehow went back to 1953, unlike Mikkel who was stuck in 1986 didn't know how to go to 2019.
super late but i think mikkel did know how to go back but noah convinced him to stay
He had to bang hanna and have jonas that's why he stayed
This is the recap I have been searching for many days. We'll done
This is not his recap, he just translated a recap of a Spanish video, the original video is in the channel "por si no lo viste"
We'll done 🤣
@@personal_utube Screw Swipe Auto Correction :D
Just started watching season 2, but realized I'd forgotten/failed to grasp much of the first season. Many rewinds of this video, and six pages of notes later, I have a much clearer understanding. Thank you, I can now go and let season 2 confuse-entertain me all over again!
Great job. Thanks. But those logos were unnecessary and distracting.
its clear how much time and effort you put into this video. While I'll admit I'm still a little confused... that's mostly because the first season was confusing, even while I was watching it. You recapped it better than anyone on youtube has managed and brought back a lot of things and characters I'd completely forgotten about. thank you!
Is your logo effect broken? What the hell is going on there?
I just wanna to let you know that u really put great effort in making us understand the season 1.
Thanks a lot. Great job!!
Didn’t Charlotte find some yellow stuff on the ground at some point?
And yellow is the color of the Star Of David that The Jews wore In Nazi Germany
This is the best explanation so far. It helps with it being in chronological order
Me watching Dark: I feel so confused and stupid. Me reading this comment section: I’m not alone
bless ur heart this is the best season 1 recap ive seen!! THANK UUU
I'm sorry, that was just as confusing as the series.
Dark is so complicated, it has to time travel to before it was created to understand what the writers intended at it's inception, then it travels to the present to ensure that it's complicated future happens the way it should.
Sir you are a gentleman and a scholar!
I could barely remember who was in in the first episode in 2019, let alone the rest of the eras, so this video was so helpful
By far the best recap video so far. KEEP IT UP!
Me before watching Dark: it’s Stranger Things!
Me after 1 episode of Dark: Holy Shit it’s so much better than Stranger Things!

.
I love stranger things too don’t get me wrong. But Dark is way better.
TWIN PEAKS
Agreed
Stranger Things is for children dude! Not even comparable
Reza Hosseini I don’t think it’s solely for children. It’s supposed to raise 80s nostalgia. Every component of the series comes from 80s films. Dark on the other hand discusses more sophisticated philosophical topics.
@@rezahosseini7851 Avatar is for children. Still an amazing series, even as an adult.
Good job.
man you are a lifesaver. Exquisite work you have done.
absolutely insane, how is this show even watchable, I can barely understand the explainer videos [plural] Ive watched
Thanks. That was the best Summary I fund. Not as confusing in this order
great recap. but whyy, whyyyy do the logos appear all the time, damn it :(
yea the constant logos are obnoxious
@@red2977 ikr
you're a logo
Yeah, it's really annoying.
I had to stop watching because the logos popping up were too distracting.
Why does it sound like every second word is chopped up? Surely it's faster to just rehearse the script more rather than edit between takes so much in post?
This is the most confusing series ever made on earth.. You need to use a lot of your brain in order to understand the story..
Bruh. Pro-tip: don’t give this show a couple year break before returning. Your head will be spinning trying to get re-adjusted
hope you do a chronological order of season 2. btw great vid
Don't worry. Search for "por si no lo viste" channel. He made this video.
Bro, thanks, I had my wikipedia up on another screen with the series page and went through each character as you described. Pretty much cleared up a lot of thoughts.
I need a recap of the recap because I am still confused haha
This is the most clear explanation you can get dude😂
😂😂
this is the best recap available on the internet today
What i cant understand is why is helge working as a security in his father’s power plant( without spoilers)
I was wondering the same thing.....
@@rahulrajan3819 yeah I found out that helge was a bit mentally unstable after what ulrich did to him, that's why
.
Helge is a dumbass with a brain injury is my best guess..
@@soramirez5473 yeah
This has to be one of the most 'bittersweet' ending in the history of tv/web series.
Thanks man, i've seen recaps with like 300k views and they are shit.. U deserve way more subs and views!!!
Even Game of Thrones is more understandable to watch, and that says something, lol
Audiences: how high are you?
Director: No its, hi how are you!
The crazy thing is this closed cycle of events doesn't have a beginning and doesn't have an end. According to the bootstrap paradox, if an object from the future travels to the past you won't know the origin of this object. It eventually have no origin. I can't even comprehend how mindfucking this is.
Thank you!! This is the only recap video that didn't confuse me.
This is all pretty fucking confusing but imagine how the characters in the show must feel like
Damn dude, you sound like Stephen Hawking. Great recap, btw.
HOW TF IS MIKKEL JONAS FATHER WHEN THEY GOT LOST IN THE WOODS TOGETHER IN 2019 ?!?! THIS SHOW IS A MINDFUCK
I took a screenshot of the 2019 family tree.It will be helpful.Thanks.This is a nice recap :D

I've seen most of the recap/explanation videos. But this is the best one.
Why is this Dark 2017 tag appearing over and over
bro i need a study guide or a family tree. thanks for putting together. this is so insane, i think watching this made me even more confused. not because it was a bad overview, just because i can’t wrap my head around it all lol. wild
Why does "Dark 2017- Netflix" keep appearing on screen?
I kept thinking it was supposed to be the current year you were discussing. That would have been much smarter use.
Amazing video. What still felt really confusing to me was Tronte's, Peter's and Claudia's role in all this but I guess I'll find out more about that in season 2 I hope
"If you didn't understand completely the first season of dark..." yeah, I think that's a safe assumption.
7:26 Agnes told Doris she (Agnes) was once married with a 'crazy' Priest. So she was married to Noah.
