after being mislead so many times and given the run around with so many YT videos on how to freeform, I’m so glad you’ve made this. we needed this one from the loc goat himself. appreciate and respect✊🏾
I like watching dreadlock videos, it motivates me to keep on going, but this is the best freeform video I've seen. Straight to the point, not boring and it's so positive. None of that "Pros and Cons" and "Don't get dreadlocks because........" It's perfect. Love it.
In 2018 I cut my twisted locs of 13 years. And I started the Freeform process. My issue is I constantly kept going over my hair with the sponge. I couldn’t see the long term. So two other times after that I started and stopped. Now I’m back to letting my hair be. I realize patience is key. You are right it starts in the mind.
@@Carolina_dub I’m at 7 months and not fully locked yet, still a lot of frizz but def see locks forming. I saw someone say they were freeforming for 7 months and he had a full set of dreads like 6” length…. That can’t be free form right?
had dreads for 3 years 2015-2018 , cut them up to start fresh but feel like i been missing something ever sense, committed to the journey again 1 month strong .
It’s crazy bro I started watching you 7 years ago when you had your first set of locks. I was getting out of the military and wanted to know more so I subbed to you and zayloc23. I ended up growing a freeform set that I had for 4 years and cut due to mold. I grew my hair out again but didn’t loc it. I just wanna say thanks for all the inspiration big up
I love all of your videos, always entertaining. You've given me the courage to start freeform, and now almost seven months later, most of my hair is locked. It's really prominent in the back, got thick ones back there. I still have some loose hair in the front, but honestly it looks alright. Your locs are legendary now, thanks for everything you've done for us
Thank you for your videos. I've been researching for awhile now especially with Covid and this whole time I thought I wanted to go the coil or twist route but your videos have made freeform dreads so much more interesting. And the level of knowledge is off the charts!
Almost to 4 years with my beauties. 🤙🏼💗💗 Freeform is the way to really connect with your dreads ...it'll change you depending how spiritual you are about it.
Love that i found this video. I am Caucasian with what i think is 2b hair a little past my shoulder. Ive been inspired by many things around me to begin my freeform loc journey, this helped but i have one more question. How and how often would you reccomend doing the cold water rinse?😊
Chopped off my dreads in March. I had 15 months of dreads, only twisted them to start them. I loved them a lot, especially after I embraced to neglecting and let it dreqd naturally from there. I had four Congos forming but I had regretted not starting from free form. Now I'm basically bald and starting again this time fully free form.
Yooooo, you should def make a collage or compilation of your dread growth through the years. I might be a little late to the party, but I have been watching your channel for a while now so I'm not sure if you've done this already. Keep progressing my brotha. One love ✌✊🖖
I hope this man answers the questions I have been having... I would really appreciate it. I didn’t mean to bother you or upset you know nation, I just really want my locs to turn out the way I want them to, and have been having trouble. Can’t wait for the premiere to begin.
@@Carolina_dub I understand that, but what about maintaining it when I sleep, and how often should I rinse it? Which shampoo is the BEST, and how do I know if they are beginning to dread or not?
@@yokubo6983 if u are freeforming wash your hair 3x a week starting out it'll help your pattern to form once it starts to form u can go 2x or once a week whatever u prefer, use natural shampoo (Dr Bronner is good) or anything without alot of chemicals dont use conditioner, let it air dry or use a microfiber towel n a circular motion and sleep with a microfiber towel on your pillow it'll help the locking and forming process. As far as maintenance that's it just let be you'll see your locks start to form n a few months oh and if u can stand it wash your hair in cold water. Thats what I did never twisted or manipulated my hair I watched knot nation and zayloc 23 (u should check his videos out) videos from when they first started freeforming
does cold water rinses with sea salt added help knots form faster, i got that type 1 hair so it’s gonna be a fat minute till i get my locs, but i’m dreadicated
After spending $380 for interlocking (cost breakdown: $110/hour) that's when I started entertaining they idea of letting it do it's thing. This cost does not include the tolls I had to pay to get to the location.
2021 will be my 4th year with dreads... Started with rip n twist and maintained them until I seen knot nation... Never touched them again... Wash once a week and go...
Dude I love this new format! Definitely way more lively and engaging. Dare I say even a bit funny at times 🤔 anyway, be happy be natty, one love one nation
Currently freeforming started with waves been going since December. A bunch of awkward stages so far.. the back is pretty locked the top is a bit sluggish however
As a guy with shoulder length 2a hair type I don’t really comb or brush my hair and all of a sudden I notice my hair started dreaded up in the back started with 3 then later on as the months go by I notice more and more started to form all around by 4 months in I had a big ass congo in the back with 8 little dreads sticking out of it I had one big dread on the right side of my head i called him Marley then small little ones on the left side
I got 6month old freeform dread and started off with twist then cut them off and started to freeform from the roots. Because of product buildup that stay on the twist it was wax sadly my dude.
Same here I had twists for about a year but I always wanted free form so I cut them off and buzzed it (wax build up). I have a small 1 month fro now so I got a lot of waiting to do for now.
Hey bro I want to thank you for all the great knowledge you share its help me in my new journey trying to form locks but I have a huge issue I am a huge huge fan of baseball hats and i wear them daily will never leave the house without one and I only wear fitted hats can this affect my hair locking. Thank you and I appreciate you sharing the your experience.
Started from a even cut and I’m 5mths in and omg it does tk patients… lol… I know it’s growing but starting so short makes it feel like it’s not gonna happen…
My dreads I know are semi free form, started by back combing and crochet, dreads where about two inch long. 5 and 1/2 Years later ive done nothing but wash them with residue free and like in the last few years ive crochet loose hair only a few times Lots of thick as combo congo dread, they are around 18 inch long now.
I’ve been freeforming for almost five months now &&& my roots are already out of pocket. Hair be on the west side tryna slide all the way to the East, I don’t like separating. I’m thinking about twisting them 😭
So I have a serious question, I have a very dry scalp and very bad dandruff and am trying to get freeborn dreads. The question is do I allow my hair to get wet every time I take a shower and just put in a oil or a moisturizer every time. Also I was wondering if you have any tips to get your natural hair oil back or how to produce more natural oil show I don’t have to moisturizer everyday.
I find Dreads uk Shampoo to be the best, however the squirt thing on the bottle is just strange I could never get it to work plus the bottle is relatively small in size
is Head and Shoulders bad ? my scalp starts itching and scalp starts hurting just using shampoo but when I had my hair longer and was doing it it didn’t hurt
2 weeks in, I keep looking at my hair worrying about stuff like how my hair is partly uneven or how I have a hightop and don't know what to do but i don't wanna cut my hair either
Yo bro ive had my dreads twisted from the start.(they about a year old now) I haven’t had a retwist since quarantine started and i kinda like it. Is it too late for me to stop getting retwists and just let it grow, Or can i just let m do they thing now?
Bro I think you are being shadowblocked .... I don’t understand why you don’t get more views 🤔 I’ve been with you for 10 years probably ))) you are talented and very interesting person ! A big inspiration ! I have my locks for year and a half now ... One love brother 💪🏻😎 we are with you !
Hey man im a white guy who hasn't brushed since September 2020. Im doing my best with what u are saying but. Should i wash and get my hair wet once a week? Also how do i dry my hair

How long does it take to lock
It took me like a year for my hair to be fully locked but everybody is different just be patient and embrace every stage
It took me 2 weeks to lock n also I’m 6 years n I started with a sponge
I'm on a lil over a year from straight BALD and my fro lockin up heavy in the back and a little on the sides ✊🏽💯

1 year into my loc journey. Thank you for what you do. Having patience is the hardest part.
I always watch these type of videos to stay motivated.been freeforming for 2 months it will be my 3rd month on the 10th

Did he answer it for you?

I'm a month in and almost three years natural. Ty for the info. I'm new here showing the ❤️. Your dreads look good and healthy 👍
Was 6 months in free-form brushed out.. 2 days later starting again I was wrong thinking I didn't want...back at it tho! dredication baby!!
Was literally gonna wash my hair before I watched this. I’m glad you said cold water.

It's only gon get more awkward. Be patient and enjoy the ride.

Is this a new camera? The film looks really good your skin is really shining🙌🏾
so my hair shrinking is fine? I got frustrated when my hair was 5-6 inches long and shrunk to 2-3 after a wash.
That zoom in when you scratched your pit had me giggling lol
So when you say you wash them once a week, does that mean you only get them wet once a week or what? @KNOTNATION
Hopefully people will dive into your library man. Been knotty for 2 years SEPT. but cannot stop playing lol
you and zaylock got the sicest dreads, i just cant with the thick locks and natural drying time in my climate
I use coconut milk as shampoo. I just wanna ask whether this would ruin already forming locs? Thanks
great video! i like da change of content (also NO CONDITIONER)
I quit brushing last December. No locking yet but I am totally dreadicated. Maybe I'll make a video once it locks up
i like the new vibe in the videos

Hi bro, I just started my freeform Locs. Is it safe to add apple cider vinegar to the baking soda as a shampoo?
How can I get locs with two strand twists.
Do you have to use the shampoo??
Can you make a video on styling your freeforms?
I’m starting now 💜
By residue free shampoo what do you mean? Is it silicon free shampoo?
Hit 2 years this past December ✊🏽
Haha I was watching this and touching my hair when you said stop touching em 😂
Can one go from interlocking to freeform after a year? Will it damage the locs?
Respect one love 🙏

Not brushing is the hardest part for me lol. That and running my fingers thru my hair.
Do you moisturize after your wash?
Would you consider sectioning your hair after a year?
What about morning routine

Love this Dreaducation.
It's THAT simple! 👌🏾
I think I'm gonna start
Its hard to find a residue free shampoo! Can you please list/say some shampoos from dr bronners that are residue free?
Long time since I watched your videos! Your locks look great!
Do you cover your hair when going to bed ? I’m just starting my freeform
BOOM. 👌🏾💨
What shampoo thats actaully really really good? I been wanted to try something new then tingle shampoo.
Bro he got alot video on good shampoo that you can check out my man then u got zayloc23 who sell natural soap and benefits.
Can u wash with acv?
It’s too acidic for casual washing. Best as a rinse/detox
So no conditioner?
