Hey Science Babes! I did not comment on the fragrance in this line, as I thought it was pretty clear that Lush contains a lot of heavily fragranced items. A lot of you are not bothered by fragrance/ EOs and a lot of are you are sensitive to them. I realize this is an oversight on my part but based on the ingredients lists if you react poorly to fragrance and essential oils, Lush products may not be for you. "Fragrance in Skincare" video is coming your way soon!
I hope you talk about the difference in scented products on the face, and on the body! Most skincare advice is only about the face, but we usually don't need to be as careful with body products. Sometimes you just want to use a scented body lotion, is that as sensitising as it is for the face?
Kenna you put so much work into your reviews please don’t apologise ☺️💋🧴💄
Your videos are excellent and extremely informative! And of course you can't focus on every aspect in every video, people need to chill. Thank you for your hard work!
Kenna what about the parabens
@@SShahids Parabens are preservatives - check out her recent video about preservatives, she goes into a lot of detail on parabens.
That left hand had a whole spa day.
😂😂😂😂
Riight??
Seriously though! Left hand luxury treatment
Yet it never got waxed 😢
we love an actual educated person to review these products, not just someone who’s gonna say it’s good because it worked out for them
13 lush products... you must have spent a fortune lol
400 dollars later... 😂
I mean her skincare line is pretty expensive
You guys are worth it! It's all I've ever spent on Lush as it was my first purchase so I felt OK about it haha :) Also gifting a lot of these items to friends and family so that makes the hit less bad as I love surprising people with gifts :)
good ingredients cost more
I was expecting something a bit more thorough with ingredient breakdown and whether it affects the skin at all rather than ‘how it feels’
Me too!
Yeah me too, although it's probably hard to say things generally about a product because everyone has differnt need..?
same
Samr
i swear you're a mind-reader... i was wishing you would make a lush review not even an hour ago!
Literally same!
Same!!
Can you please review the ingredients in Kylie Skin? I think it would be interesting to see the quality of her skin care items.
Cassandra Bankson did some very in depth Reviews :)
The eye syrum has alcohol in it so it's a big no no for sure.
I thought everyone knows that it's a scam and not an actual skincare... she's a gold digger and that's about it
@@mariafoivi3599 Not all alcohols are bad. The one in the eye serum (Cetearyl Alcohol) is actually a fatty alcohol that isn't bad for the skin.
It helps prevent creams from separating into oil and liquid. It may also make a product thicker or increase the product’s ability to foam.
check out Dr Dray she’s a dermatologist here on youtube + did a review on it!
I don’t need any guru’s telling me what is or isn’t good. Just need Kenna 🥰 So happy to see you continue on your uploads after the JH lipstick fiasco! Ty for your time, Kenna!!!
I had no idea citrus oils affected UV absorption through the skin. Thank you for the new knowledge.
Jaime Johnesee they’re also very damaging during sun exposure, lemon specially could burn your skin and all citrus oils and volatile fragrant oils create irritation and hyperpigmentation, most people think they’re good for your skin cause they “natural”.
It's called a phototoxic reaction, and they are so damaging! Idk why companies still insist upon using them in leave on products.
@@afic10 Thank you for the further information! I appreciate it. 💙
@@jenm9099 Money is my guess. I hope you have an excellent day. 💙
Not all are like that. SD for example isn’t.
I love that you actually hear our requests. Not a lot of channels actually do that 😍😍 thank you for doing this! I've been wondering about lush skincare for a while since a lot if people dont recommend it due to heavy fragrance and oils.
Review the Aztec secret clay mask!
Yes!!
Melissaa Mora yesss!! Omg please
Check out Dr Dray a certified dermatologist who reviews it :)
I work at lush and was so excited to see your opinion on our brand! I agree that ocean salt is wayyyyy too abrasive. The self preserving version is a little less aggressive.
Captain Pancakes same here 🙌
Can you guys recommend a shampoo for a extremely oily hair?
Is the shampoo "Big" as good as it sounds?
Girl on a tight budget seeking your help here 😅
Amani Amy big is good if you’re looking to absorb excess oils and get volume. I personally like to recommend I Love Juicy, Rehab, or Jumping Juniper for oily hair!
What do you recommend from lush for someone with sensitive DRY ass skin?? I need help😅😂
Ginelle Hughes Cetaphil is from the drugstore but it is very gentle and not drying at all.
I'd like to know more about Juice Beauty and Mario Bedascu products!
Would also like to see Mario Badescu
Yes to Mario Badescu!
+1 for Juice beauty!!!
Yes yes to Mario badescu!! I use the glycolic acid toner and it seems good to me but what do I know 🤷🏼♀️😂
Yessss to Mario bedascu! I own three sprays in the mini size to try them they came in a set. So far I’m liking the rose water one over the other ones I’ve tried. But I heard they’re overpriced water and don’t really do anything for the skin so I’m curious what she thinks!
I love all the uploads, but PLEASE don't burn yourself out!!! K luv u bye
I really hope she doesn't, I've been worried about her exhausting herself to try and keep up the content.
She should adopt an upload schedule. One or twice a week and give herself time to rest! Love her uploads but I agree, I don’t want her to burn herself out.
There’s money to be made though.
naturegirl321 it should be balanced with a focus on mental health and rest😌
Yes, but ....money
I like Lush concept of minimal packaging. But all the fragrance. Essential oils. Alcohol. Talc. And dyes. Eurgh. My skin would disown me. I struggle enough as it is to keep it under control. Thank you for spending your money and time going through these. ❤️
it’s honestly so sad they use talc, fragrance/essential oils and nonvegan ingredients... like why not be a vegan brand with no scent that is way better for the skin and planet!
Yes and the sulphates
Ginger Badjie I think lush is a great “idea” if they had less herbs and fragrance and highly irritating ingredients in it
Agreed. I choose Ethique over Lush because they have unscented, fragrance free, essential oil free products with sustainable packaging.
@@T-Laydie exactly! I feel for the people who use it not knowing what it is doing to their skin in the long term :/
I think with the ingredients, especially the really chemical sounding ones.. it would be interesting to know why they exist in the product or when they're paired with something else on that list -- how does that work for the skin, etc. It'd be lovely to hear you go in depth about the chemistry!
as a former lush employee, i thought this was amazing! you've covered so many things that i tried to always stress with customers -- having a well-researched knowledge base makes for the best relationship to one's skin. the employee training used to have an intense trichological focus (that was the owner's background), which for me was the best aspect of working there. i don't know if they still have that drive, but i'm hopeful that every employee can explain why an ingredient is in a product, ie zea mays oil in let the good times roll as a tocopherol or whatever. the fragrance/dye situation was not my fantasy for inclusion in products, and explaining to customers that they're in there always made me feel a little guilty, despite lush not considering themselves "all-natural" or anything. thank you so much for your honest and informed observations!
Hi Kenna!!❤❤❤ I love you and your channel so much. Thank you for all your hard work and for always being honest
I can’t keep up with the uploads, you’re killing the UA-cam game!
You are such a breath of fresh air. I love your channel and how informative you!
And once again, Kenna delivers 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 I'm LOVING all of the frequent uploads. Thank you for taking the time to create such quality content for us!!!
I really appreciate the time and effort you’re putting into these videos. It’s extremely valuable information! Since watching your videos I’ve changed up my skincare routine etc, it’s been amazing to learn all of this properly, I can’t thank you enough! Already seeing so many benefits 🌟 you’re an angel thank you for what you do! X
I enjoy Lush on occasion but am careful which products I choose because so many contain sulphates and they flare up my eczema. I used to love Cup O Coffee mask for the smell, but yes its super gritty for the face. Love their lip scrubs too
Perfect timing! I was actually thinking of buying the angels on bare skin mask since I'm also planning to buy a simple conditioner from them, so it's SO NICE to see products I was looking at in this video
Kenna you should talk up your skincare brand more! Let people know!!! I had no idea you had a skincare line until I saw it in the comments!! But girl advertise yourself! With your expertise, there are definitely many people who will trust and buy your products. You deserve it. ❤️
marcicanp I think this is what makes her so credible is that her channel isn’t an ad for her own products. She truly is just passionate about ingredients and skincare and wants to educate us. I love this about her!
watched every ad for you girlie!!!
I’ve been working for LUSH for 4 years now and seeing you make a video about it makes me so happy! I would have been curious to know your thoughts as a biochemist about the formulas and their stability, maybe also by looking at the products on the website. I’m comfident that you’ll keep up the good job you’re already doing with the channel tho! ♥️
I use almost strictly Lush products in my routines so i am SO HAPPY you made this video. we love an educated woman
She didn’t mention this, but all the fragrance sitting on your skin breaks down your collagen faster. Just make sure your face products don’t contain fragrance! 😧
@@annc5442 I'm on curology so don't use much of the face products! but thank you for the info, I honestly need to get a little better at reading ingredients lists!!!
@@annc5442 my mom has been using their Gorgeous moisturizer for years and her skin looks amazing - does not look her age at all!
Natalie Fragrance irritates and inflames skin even without you noticing in the moment. It secretly damages the skin’s surface, promotes ageing, causes collagen to breakdown and hurts the skin’s ability to fight environmental damage. The citrus oils in it are already speeding up the damage on your mom’s face from the suns rays. This is backed by science and can take many, many years to show up! Although your mom has great skin now, it could end up aging her faster than it would without it. I’d still recommend her switching to a fragrance free option! Imagine how much better and longer her skin will remain healthy :)
All I need to know is how my skin can look like that
Kristin M yes Kenna please do your skin care routine!
She has done her skincare video recently
She has her own skincare line! She uses those products.
Amber C thanks for the reply! I will check it out ♥️
Yay! I’ve been waiting for a video about Lush! Thank you for doing this🙏
I’m so so so so SOOOOOOO happy I found your channel. I’m a student esthetician, and your videos are very informative and they’re teaching me a lot you don’t learn in school!!! I love your videos!! ♥️♥️♥️
Kenna thank you so much for uploading so much! I've really been enjoying your videos :)
I used to use Lush religiously for all of my skincare (except for moisturiser because i found they were all too thick for me except for their $70 one). I started getting really really bad breakouts and I just found Lush wasn't really reducing it or doing anything for it. Switched to another cruelty free brand that was actually a little cheaper as well, it cleared up after that
What brand?
I truly appreciate you and all the work you put into your channel and in educating us. Although I love lush for their shower and bath products their skincare items have never worked for me. I genuinely look forward to your videos!
I'd like to see a review on lush naked products like face soap bars and serums
I absolutely kenna 💕 she is helping to educate everyone, and letting people know things about products that they didn’t before. I really enjoy finding out more about the products that I use and seeing really how much they can work or not even work in some cases!
Can you please please review Missha products? It is a great Korean brand with awesome active ingredients!
Thank you for making informative videos on the products you have! It's nice to know a chemist perspective
I feel like you’re so honest and informative I’m so glad I found this channel you ate that
Can you review Pixi skincare products? I use the ceramide cream
Side note, if you watch the 1% line video, and then look at the Pixi products, there's a lot of water and not a lot of anything else.
PLEASE do a Body Shop skin care review! i use it daily and would love your perspective x
Could you do a video about drunk elephant products, ole henrickson, or Kate sommerville
I remember a German company making almond meal exfoliant years ago. You could buy the powder in 100 g paper bags and mix up as much as you needed each time. That stuff was great!
More than half of the lush products you reviewed is what I’ve bought from there! So good to know! Thanks so much for letting us know about the lemon and grapefruit extracts, really helpful and I agree with you that there is too much fragrance in many of them.
Yesss I love this stream of regular content. So interesting and useful.
I have really sensitive skin and my skin can’t cope with the fragrances and other irritants.
Just wondering about how citrus stuff means you should use sunscreen- what about limonene? Since it comes from citrus fruit peel
I just wanted to give some clarification on Ocean Salt, the product is supposed to be mixed before application. It has a combination of large and finer chunks of sea salt and when just opened all the large chunks are at the top. Also add more water to reduce how abrasive the product is! Ocean salt is one of my favorite products lush sells its really helped clear up my black heads and make my face glow! If you still find it to be to much try the self preserving version. :))
love that you made a video about lush, i have always loved their shampoo bars because it saves me from buying plastic bottles and i have been able to use their dry shampoo for years off of one purchase, i recommend those products to everyone!
Thank you so much for your content. Currently pursuing a Biology degree and your videos are very inspiring and give me motivation to keep on track with my studies.
This review was so thorough!! Seriously love hearing what you have to say.
Love your content! It’s so nice to get genuine feedback about products from someone who really knows their stuff. I tried lush products awhile back and it didn’t really work for me
I loved the Mask of Magnaminty for my sensitive skin during the summer at the beach, it helped my skin so much! Im SO GLAD I applied my masks kinda thick and didn’t rub it in my face to make the most of it! I’ll get it again
Looove your videos Kenna :) thanks for posting this
Thanks Kenna! I would love to know your thoughts on the Ultrabland cleanser 🙏
i’m obsessed with your channel!!! so glad I found it!
Please review the ordinary next!!
I L she already did! She recommends it
@M K Not weird at all. Silicone is hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic and doesn't sensitise skin. Of course, you need to consider skin need, product, formula and where in a skin care routine its used.
Are plant based washing machine "detergents" effective e.g. brands like method, fifth generation, Nelly's. Thank you
Yaaay I’m so excited you decided to make this video!!! ❤️❤️
I’m glad to hear someone mention the cocoa butter situation. I have very dry skin, face and body, and have tried cocoa butter products. My experiences have always been mixed or not good, the most recent experience was the worst. I tried a well known high cocoa butter content body product (on a recommendation) and my whole body was covered in a thick itchy red rash afterwards. That was from one application. Obviously I discontinued usage immediately but the rash took a couple of days to go away. I did some further research and this is apparently a known possible skin reaction to cocoa butter. I believe it’s a bit like coconut oil in that it has molecules which pass into the deeper layers of the skin quite readily and some of these can cause quite strong reactions.
You are the best!! Can’t wait to try your skincare line. Preordered :)
Eee!! You walked right into the Lush store I shop at! Queen West is a good store, and the staff has a good grasp on product knowledge. I would love you to do a video on the naked vs the bottle products and the chemistry in those.
Hey Kenna! Could you please make a video on how a basic body-skincare routine should look like and maybe show us yours?:)
Kenna with the videos coming through!!!
I never tried lush, but good to know if I ever decide to!
Honestly, you hit the nail on the head on ocean salt. I haven't seen your channel ever before so when you IMMEDIATELY identified the issue me and lush customers have with sea salt I knew you knew exactly what you were talking about. I have worked extensively for lush and many, many, many customers bring ocean salt back due to it burning, reddening, and causing itching on the face. I never thought about the sharpmess the salt crystals adding to the issue. I figured it was salt mixed with lots of citrus and vodka that when mixed with exfoliation caused the issue. I definitely didn't think about that.
could you do a video on pimple popping and blackhead extraction and whether or not it's good for your skin?
Even if she did this would be beyond her expertise , this is an issue that should be argued by a dermatologist. She is a biochemist with a focus on cosmetology and extractions involve a technique not really any solutions that she can explain the effect of the ingredients
Seriously??? Wow....
its not
I've never clicked so fast! Thanks for reviewing lush!! If you haven't reviewed Humnutrition I would love to have your perspective on some of their products!
Shailene woodley’s twin!! You’re so beautiful :)
I love all of your videos, this has quickly become one of my favorite channels! :) Can you review some Mario Badescu products?!
I'm an esthetician, and worked for Mario in the past. Their products are TERRIBLE for your skin, and they have been involved in several lawsuits for putting undisclosed corticosteroids in their formulas. It led to a huge mess, and I don't trust that company at all. I quit after that all came to light.
Jennifer M I use their rose water toner and my skin looks amazing! But I recently switched up my skincare so it could be several products instead of the MB. Do you recommend a good toner (preferably in a spray bottle) for combo acne prone skin that won’t break the bank? I really wanna try the pixi rose water toner.
@@dreamwishergirl Honestly, their spray toners are probably the safest thing MB puts out. It's just fragranced glycerin water. If you like the idea of a refreshing toner spray, look for Thayers Witch Hazel Rose Toner. It's like 8 bucks, is alcohol free, paraben free, undistilled, so not drying and it is wonderful.
Jennifer M thank you! I actually was at ulta the other day & was deciding between MB and the thayers one and I went with MB 😂
What kind of face masks do you recommend for someone with sensitive skin?
I tried the Cackle Spackle face mask from Perfectly Posh and my face felt like it was on fire (someone told me it has spearmint oil in it).
ok havent watched it all yet bc just clicked on but ugh kenna this look is IT
also love how you are inundating us with content but please dont burn yourself out we want you for the long run
Just in time for my trip to lush! Love your channel Kenna ❤️
i would love to hear your opinion on BECCA COSMETICS full coverage foundation.. saying its "non-acnegenic"?? doesn't sound very legit so help us out here lol
I don't know anything about Becca products but I can tell you that noncomedogenic is a thing. Non-acnegenic might* be their lame way of trying to make it more understandable.
Thank you for making this video! I am curious as to whether you should or if it would even be wise to regularly exfoliate physically or chemically when using a cleanser that already has a mild exfoliant, such as the Angel on Bare Skin.
I've wanted to give it a try for a while now, but haven't been sure if I would still be able to continue with my other scrubs and such.
What do you think about their packaging free products for the face? I would love to use it to reduce my plastic waste, but I’m unsure about it in terms of hygiene, since you're introducing water and bacteria from your hands to it over time. They say that they use self-preserving ingredients to prevent bacteria, but is that enough? It seems fine to use for your body and hair, but what about on the face?
You are so beautiful! Love how subtle your makeup is ❤️
I love that you addressed the issue with citrus oils! What are your thoughts on citrus oils in actual sunscreens?
Thank you so much for this review! I started to use ocean salt as a scrub but found it a bit to abrasive so I would melt it in my hands with water to make it work. It leaves you face really soft and moist but it definitely best only for the body.
Thank you for such an interesting review! Listening to all the ingredient lists it got me really curious about linalool and limonene, are those okay to put on the face?
Please please do a review on the Acure brightening line (facial cleansing gel, night cream, day cream, exfoliating mask). Some of their other product contain fragrances and dye so I focused on the brightening line.
How do you feel about PCA Skincare?
Thanks for hearing all the requests and making the video 😍😍
My favorite lush products are their lotions. Especially for me, who has dry ass skin. Favorite so far is snow fairy or sleepy. They even have soap in the sleepy scent, which I love!
I bought a $40 leave in conditioner and loved it because it really moisturized my dry ends but had to give it away to a friend because my boyfriend couldn't stand the intense fragrance 😭 He was able to detect the tiniest amount of it in my hair from the other side of the room 🤦🏼♀️
Please do a video on the science of evening primrose oil and if we should take it :)
You respond to the content requests so quickly! Keep it coming :)
love your content, soooo interesting and you make it so easy to follow along from someone who wasn’t good at science lol
Most of my acne is hormonal so in the year+ I have been using lush products I haven’t had much bother with them. I use a salicylic acid cleanser that’s separate to the line, but I use the tea tree water toner, dark angels as an exfoliant x2 a week, and a serum and the vanishing cream moisturiser. I really like mask of magnanimity as well. This is so interesting though. I honestly prefer lush for their bath body and hair products, but there aren’t a lot of options for sustainable packaging and cruelty free skincare products here in Ireland
I’m not sure if you’ve mentioned this before but I’m curious what you think of witch hazel toners!
I've been really curious to know if the soaps are actually cleansing. I love the look of the "Outback Mate" blue soap but I'm worried that my hands aren't actually going to get clean. Can you comment on this at all?
I loved your video. So informative! Do you know if peppermint is safe enough to use on the face?
where did you get your headband/scarf from? 🥰🥰
Interesting to see how different a biochemist is thinking about products vs a dermatologist. I watch dr Dray a lot and she regularly emphasizes how lavender, geraniol and all other fragrances, whether essential oil, natural or synthetic are dangerous for the skin - both in terms of vasodilation and redness as well as for the potential of developing contact dermatitis... Since Lush is positively brimming with fragrance, I was expecting you to comment on that 🤔
She didn't really comment on much. I was expecting her to have a problem with the SLS in the shampoo bar. I've used those shampoo bars and they dried my hair out HORRIBLY. I'd never recommend them for people to use..
Sarah Green yep... I personally don’t have a solid opinion on SLS but I have sensitive scalp and use very mild, specially formulated shampoos anyway. But completely agree on the fact that she didn’t comment on much whatsoever.
I haven't gotten a lot from Lush, but I love their Magic Crystal body scrub. It has a really nice cooling mint feeling, so it's really nice on my feet when I get home from work
When you can, can you please make a Fresh skincare review? I've started using one of their products and wanted to know your opinion! Thank you!!
Dr Dray would have a field day with these products. Peppermint is no bueno for the skin.
David Fletcher RIGHT. All the essential oils
thought of her the whole video hahaha. so much fragrance. so much no.
David Fletcher trueee, very harsh ingredients how ever natural
Dr Dray made me so aware of fragrances in products so I’m shocked at how much fragrance lush has in their products, actually mind blowing considering how the brand is marketed to be ‘good for your skin’
Thinking the same thing!
Hey! I would lo e to get your insight on Lush's Dream Cream. I've heard it's a miracle for eczema, but there are soo many fragrances. I've already purchased so would love to get more information
I can’t believe I used to use ocean salt on my face! I was having severe breakouts for 2 years and when I went for a facial and wrote down the products I was using the esthetician was like 🥴. I haven’t had a breakout since stopping 6 months ago!
you have the most captivating energy.. so glad i clicked here!
What do you think about their sunscreens? Do you think they can work with mainly oils to protect the skin?
I would love to know your thoughts on the perfume and sents and fragrance in products because I'm sure alot of people with sensitive skin find it a big problem like I do.
