If I understood it correctly it is against the rules to play to ball into the walls like that between plays. Its a rule to prevent exactly that from happening. The second clip is an accident that occured during the game and not in between. It might seem harsh but those are the rules and if something happens than you (the player) should face the consequences.
She didn’t give a shit that she hit the little girl with the ball, it was after the ref noticed and the girl started crying that the player went to apologise, rafa went asap to that little girl, thats why he was not dq’d. It is about respect, not about the damage.

So about the tennis ball girl situation, I read the comments on reddit and the story is a bit more complex:
At first the umpire waved it off and told the players to continue playing, but it was actually the opposing team that pushed the umpire to DQ them. The ballgirl was apparently crying due to embarrassment/stress, probably not pain. The opponents were also seen to smile after the decision went off and are being criticized on social media by tennis pros.
They were DQd over a technicality (rulebook), a very scummy way to "win". It's because the ball hit the girl when the game wasn't "on", or something (safety rule). Anyway, shame on the double that pushed it to win...

As a tennis player who's been hit by many balls, i can tell that ballgirl was SOFT, especially for someone who is doing that job at high level tournaments. Tennis balls don't really hurt they just sting for a second and leave a little welt.

Pretty sure it's in the section headed 'Unsportsmanlike conduct'. Whether or not you agree with the decision of the umpire, the decision stands. Thats how rules, and umpires, work. Some sort of order is required. Simple.

If I remember correctly. If you hit a ball intentionally and it hurts a referee or ball helper(guy or girl) you are dq. It is to protect the people. If that rule does not exist, what stops a player from throwing the racket at the referee?
This was the first clip I've seen where I see the ball actually hit the girl and I agree. It doesn't look like it is that hard. It is also a slow-mo so how fast was the ball really?
I believe the big reason the pair was dq was the apathy to check if the girl was ok. But I dunno tennis that well so don't read this as facts.
There is a massive difference in tennis , if in a part of play you accidently hit a ball person ( its considered a mistake and a risk of the job) . If your not playing , and hit the ball in anger as show of rage and the ball hits the ball person , you will be disqualified . Its borderline assault on a child , you image tennis players being allowed to backhand at 100 - 130 km at volunteer children because there upset losing a point . Its the player that we should be angry at , not the ball girl that had no idea the ball was coming and not only hurt her but scared the fuck out of her at the same time
There are some other significant differences here. The womans shot had significantly less force behind it, which should be clear to anyone with eyes and a basic understanding of the differences in power between male and female tennis players. Furthermore, the woman hit the ballgirl on the back/shoulder, as she turned to avoid the shot, while Nadal hit the girl in the face - a way more vulnerable area. Imagine if that was a teenage boy who got hit by the ball like that, there's not a chance in any world that he'd start crying and claim he was injured. And if he did, he'd be ridiculed for good reason. I understand that we can't expect all athletes (and I'd be extremely surprised if not every single ballgirl/boy were tennis players themselves) to be akin to hockey players, but jesus fuck show some kind of grit - Like the girl who got hit by Nadal.

The other was after the play was over and the player was simply clearing a dead ball. I do feel she should have been given a warning because it did not appear to be malicious but that being said it was still avoidable.
