no no, thank you! Thank you for the request and talking with us in the discord! Loved the background you gave and everything. Diving into (G) I-DLE was a blast
12:18 actually Soyeon wrote, composed, and produced the song (she does this with most of their songs). The reason it may sound a bit lazy is because she had to make the song in a short time since it was already close to the time they were supposed to debut, but Cube didn't have a debut song for them yet, so she just made it herself. This caused the company to give her full control of their music, concept, and everything else later down the line
let's don't forget, Soyeon was 20 when she wrote this song. Short time to put up the song, little experience. I think this was a stoning achievement for a 20 year person.
When you said, in Latata, that the production was lazy, but it isn't their fault since they didn't make it, I laughed so hard... because they actually did 😅 They are probably the only girl group in Kpop right now who write, compose and producer their own songs 😂 Latata was made, because the company failed to provide them with a debut song that the girls identified with. So they just did it themselves and are doing it ever since. The evoluton is amazing though. Latata was pretty much their first try :)
Lion was actually written for a survival show, hence why it sounds like it’s made to be the perfect pop song, but missing personal flares. They were given a time to write a song for the show and lion was the result. Then they decided to give it a mv
It’s not missing personal flares at all. I watched their reactions to other Kpop groups, and I’ve noticed that they generally tend to look down on upbeat songs with catchy vocal melodies - which is basically most popular music in general. They also pretty much said aespa can’t sing, which is ridiculous Instead they tend to praise songs with empty or antidrop choruses and shouty/short vocal melodies like SKZ’s Gods Menu (which they gave 10/10), Oh my god, aespa’s Black Mamba, Senorita (for the post chorus). They’d probably also love a lot of Blackpink and Babymonster songs. And Super Lady I would not take their opinions very seriously, as the songs they like to deride as “pop failures” actually ended up being very successful while the songs they praise highly were flops
@@suhkawnit They are not very bright, no, but they are kind of amusing in their assertive ignorance. From time to time, a clown that thinks he is a jester is good for the soul.
@@EnaLikes you dont have. But suggesting that they don’t really know how to sing is just factually wrong. These guys fall in love with songs where a voice is barely singing over an instrumental chorus. What the hell do they know about vocals?
I think the comments have told you all about it, that all these songs are composed by mostly one person, Soyeon (the group's leader). And since you are doing it chronologically from the 6 year-old debut song, you are actually seeing the typical progression of a talented songwriter starting very young. From inexperienced mistakes > getting the basics right > going through an artsy phase. You stopped there but if you continued, you would get to the more "sell out" phase where she becomes a top-class commercial hitmaker and then trying to make those hits more distinctive (which brings us to the present)
What the production in Latata is missing is not soul, it's experience and time. People have already commented that Soyeon produced it and the crunch she was under when she did, but what's most important in context is the thing that she was trying to show in that song was the vocal uniqueness of all her members. Instead of tailoring their voices to a song that isn't written for them, she tailored the song to their voices and it is what made them stand out amongst other groups. Though works should be taken as a whole so the context shouldn't necessarily affect your opinion.
While I saw their critique, I think it's more on what music style they like (as they said too they care more for the instrumental). Soyeon did well on this song, of course she was still a beginner to producing then, so there are faults, but in full context it's a great debut song. As a person who cares more for melodies, I think It highlights each member well, introduces them, but only gives a sneak peek of what's to come, especially the masks on the mv and bridge of the song play to this motive. It's soft, a little seductive and lowkey, making it the perfect intro for their discography
@@quuenbanaana8425 You're completely right. I honestly thought back to this comment and was a little disappointed in myself for making it. Sometimes we have a tendency to take people's criticisms as somehow more educated than our own opinions. I think for sure someone knowledgeable might notice things that can be improved in Latata but I realized that for these guys in particular it's a certain preference they have and isn't actually consistent necessarily with what makes a song "Good" or well produced. Soyeon did a great job in a number of aspects here, not just considering her situation but overall and there is a reason it put (G) I-dle on the map. Thanks for adding on!
All these titles are OT6. They're great but you have a huge jump in popularity as you move into the debut of the remaining 5. They're my strongest and oldest group and I'm so proud of them as entertainers weathering adversity. You should definitely check out Tomboy, Queen card, and Wife!

SOOJIN was a member of (G)-idle who discontinued her activities with the group due to bullying accusations back in high school which were then proven to be all false and due to her reputation being damaged it is still unclear if she willingly left the group or was kicked out by the company
I was actually speaking with my Korean tutor about this situation and i know Korean citizens take bullying very seriously so i assume she was kicked from the group as the Korean public would outrage if a bully was being supported, but the most interesting thing was in the Korean public the view on Soojin is that she is a bully. from what my friend and teacher told me is that the "proof" that proved her innocence was not known in Korea which should make everyone question the truth. not saying that its fake proof or anything since i don't know but i know a lot of International fans make a lot of lies in kpop and it gets hard to know what to believe. considering the "proof" is not known in Korean public i feel the story is not as straight forward as people say
I enjoyed listening to your opinions. A few things to note. Soyeon (the rapper) writes and produces most of their songs. All five of these MVs are from their earlier work, and Soojin (the one that got kicked out later) was actually in all of them. Soyeon and Miyeon were a part of a virtual k-pop group called K/DA that was developed by Riot Games for League of Legends. One of their MVs actually has over 500M views.
FYI, Miyeon was the 5th member of Blackpink. However, over years YG repeatedly postponed the groups debut, Miyeon got impatient and left YG on her own accord.
She wasn't technically the 5th member. BP was originally going to be 9 members but the number kept changing and the debut kept getting pushed so Miyeon left because of the uncertainty.
@@just-a-generic-username my theory (which I believed might be so true), they "water tested" in every monthly evaluations with different number of members and the evaluators like it a lot when the line up is Jisoo, Jennie, Miyeon, rose, and Lisa OR the exact same line up without Miyeon. but then back to YG, he wanted another SNSD so the trainees gotta wait for a lil too long for the internal over-thoughts (I know the others left for health and education reasons but still) and of course if I was them, my patience would run out too. Eventually, last 5 man standing but then Miyeon decided just to give it up so 4 of them can debut without waiting for too long because she knows the internal team was confused a lot about the roles among her vs Jisoo (for the visual), vs Rose (for the main vocalist position), and vs Jennie too, kinda (I'll explain this) if she stays. Here's what I imagine if she stayed in Blackpink: - She will be the main vocalist - Rose will be the lead vocalist - In all the songs where Jennie has vocal lines, they go to Miyeon - Most Lisa rap verses will be split or go to Jennie - She could've been a swag vocalist instead of ultra feminine bubbly golden retriever girl (I remember IDLE members talked about her first appearance at CUBE, a lot, and they describe her as this intimidating girl with very YG fashion) - Of course she's going to be a lot more famous but will be in the YG dungeon for too much
@@bintangnaufali don’t think miyeon would been the main vocal or the co-main vocal of blackpink. Technically miyeon and rosé are on the same level so she could’ve been if it was only up to the skill level they have but there’s a reason why rosé was chosen as the main vocal aside from the skill level. At that time YG had trainees that are technically far better than rosé but i think YG wanted that bom like vocal tone and in BP’s songs that quality of rosé’s voice was highlighted a lot. Miyeon’s vocal tone however is very common soprano tone. So if she was in BP i think the producers would’ve preferred rose over her and miyeon would be the first preferred lead vocal. (I’m not saying any of this cause I’m a rose stan, I actually dislike her vocal tone but looking from YG’s perspective rose’s tone is more interesting than miyeon’s)
@@bintangnaufalthe only part I would disagree with is Miyeon being the Main Vocalist. Since BP is basically a 2ne1 2.0, they are most likely gonna pick Rosé as the Main Vocalist because she has a more distinct tone and style than Miyeon. She debuted in BP because she is supposed to be like Bom, the one with the most distinct voice in the group. Miyeon would've been a Lead Vocalist if she debuted with BP.
Quite disappointed that there was no recommendations for their “new songs” specially after Soojin left as if the groups “recommendation worthy songs” have ended there but it quite the opposite, everyone can agree that the new songs are the ones with the actual worldwide impact and would’ve been much better as a first listen it’s it’s another whole style but anyways thx for who recommended the group and thx for the reaction guys can’t wait for more Gidle
also Minnie has a rich & influential family background ! Her nickname "Thai Princess" is also not just a title in a sense, since she really has a royal link. Her aunt Sugar Yontararak is the great granddaughter of the last king of Lanna, a northern kingdom of Thailand.
i was suspicious about this but then I started focusing on his words--especially after lion and honestly yeah. its like, he clearly enjoyed it, looked hype about it and then started slowly belittling his opinion about the song as he spoke after kazinho. Not saying its not possible to not salivate over lion; its a gorgeous song despite missing a few things, but...in this case ion think its his personal opinion
I strongly disagree with most of your opinions, but I don’t want to waste my energy writing a long rebuttal. All I will say is, based on what I’ve observed from your other reactions, you guys would probably really like their songs: Super Lady Nxde I Want That
I believe all of (G)I-dle's title tracks were written, composed, arranged, and produced by Soyeon (ofc, there is probably some co-compoters/writers/etc). She has won a lot of awards, including Best Producer & Best Songwriter. She's the highest credited female songwriter in KPop. Other members in the group began contributing to all the elements of the music production over time, mainly Minnie & Yuqi. Regarding the production of Latata... Soyeon allegedly got tired of waiting for the company to provide a debut song for them, so she did it herself. So maybe high effort for a first timer, rather than low effort for a company? lol Because that's pretty much what happened. That said, it's very much not my favourite song from them. Obviously, Soeyon got a lot better after their debut. Speaking to the whole formula thing that you talked about during Lion... Soyeon is kind of a musical formula wizard. Lion is widely regarded as a masterpiece (ditto for OMG), and is one of the first song that was a real breakout hit for them. You're definitely going to have to check out more from this group! I would definitely like to hear your thoughts on some their newer tracks, specifically Revenge, Nxde, & Superlady. Here's a little TL;DR : 1. Thanks for the reaction! 2. It makes sense your biggest criticism of Latata was the production. The group wasn't given a debut song, so forced to self-produce, and only a budget of @10k USD by CUBE for the MV. By comparison, their latest MV was over 820k USD, of which they paid for half the cost themselves. 3. Senorita was the only song in their original lineup to not sweep music awards, which they still make jokes about to this day. It was a collab with a makeup company and their MV budget whims. 4. The Soojin supporters will argue she left amicably. The Soojin haters will argue she was kicked out. Either way, when you reach I-Dle's music where she is no longer present, there is a relatively clear message from them about how they feel about Cube, the haters, and Soojin herself. 5. 'Lion' was not made specifically for radio. They were competing against other music groups on a TV show, and was written and produced start to finish, including choreo, in less than a month, due to the contest restraints. 6. Lastly, it seems like you're not a fan of deeper meanings or artistic metaphors. It doesn't help you aren't actually reading the lyrics. I suggest Twice or Blackpink, they are very straightforward radio pop music that don't require digesting lyrics to enjoy. (I hope this doesn't come across as too abrasive)
Thank you for saying this. These guys really don’t look into the lyrics or the video and just say something negative like “nO sOuL” when there’s nothing else to criticise. From their other reactions they clearly like more mainstream pop songs rather than those with vocal melodies and good lyrics. And like you said they’ll probably prefer bp, baemon or twice’s songs with very straightforward and basic lyrics.
I'm a Soojin supporter, but I think the company forced her out. I thought the haters were saying she left because she lied and were using that as proof that she lied since she said she would step down only if the accusations were true? That's why I don't think she left on her own, but because the company stopped supporting her. Anyway, I was happy when she had her solo debut!
@@Tallefier On paper, she was let go by the company. But there are a lot of paragraphs in a contract. I wasn't there to hear the final words, but since she was allowed to re-enter the KPOP industry under a new contract less than a year after ending, the parting had to be somewhat mutually agreed upon. Otherwise she would have been contracted to stay out of the industry for the duration of the rest of her contract with Cube. But I agree, the company did not have her back when she was harassed by the vocal minority. This will all come into play in 2026.
I think reacting to (G)I-DLE and not taking the lyrics into account is the most criminal thing done here. The reason why LATATA and Senorita are some of my least favorite title tracks (still love them just not as much as others) is because the lyrics are the stereotypical pop lyrics that you here in like every pop song ever. However the lyrics to Lion and Oh My God are deep and carry so much weight with them, especially in the raps. To not even acknowledge that aspect of these songs is a massive blind spot in this reaction that I can't help but call out. I hope that if you react to Nxde in the future (and I hope you do) that you also take the lyrics into account.
Never expect to find people who like "Señorita" more than Lion or oh my god, lol. But I guess they came predisposed to find some generic Kpop and that's why they liked Señorita and Latata more, they didn't expect to find something out of the ordinary and that confused them.
Just for a little more context on the writing/producing/arranging for these songs... You watched them in the order they were released. "Latata" was the groups debut song. CUBE entertainment was having trouble finding a debut song for the group, Soyeon (The rapper/leader of the group) wrote and produced "Latata" herself using pirated software on her laptop. The song was anonymously submitted and eventually selected (by vote) to be the debut song. For their second album, featuring "Senorita", Soyeon wrote and co-produced every song. "uh oh" was a digital single written and co-produced by Soyeon. "Lion" and "Oh my God" were written and co-produced by Soyeon for the groups fourth album. Members Minnie and Yuqi also started writing and producing on the third album and there are 1-2 songs from each of them on every album since the third album. Soyeon still writes and produces the majority of their music including every title track. Soyeon also writes and produces songs for other kpop groups as well as appearing on talent shows as a judge and/or mentor for new talent. Soyeon is credited writer, producer, and/or arranger of around 100 songs during her 6 years in the biz. She holds copyrights for nearly all of (G)I-dle music. In 2022 she won the "writer of the year" award for kpop. In 2023 she won "producer of the year" award. She is the only person to have won both these awards while simultaneously being a member of an active kpop group. Her songs have over 3 Billion streams on spotify, and around 1 Billion streams on South Korean most popular streaming service "Melon".
Putting senorita above lion tells a lot about them😭 I respect ur opinion saying u liked senorita more, but saying lion had no soul is criminal💀 lion has their whole heart and soul and senorita was none of the members’ favourite, they personally don’t like it💀non of them wanted it as a title
@@suhkawnit no, soyeon didn't want it as a title and yuqi disliked the song because of her you foo foo part. And they still mention how they dislike this song till date. Idle is one of those groups where you should look into the group itself, the passion and effort that goes into their music, to really appreciate their work. I will always say that their b-sides are the best. E.g. Hann (Alone in Winter), should be listen to with (in order) Hann (Alone), Hann (Alone in Winter), Hwaa. Also Daliha, Dark (x-files), Fate, Put it straight, Villain Dies and so many more. And their music style/concept is always something new. Don't get hung up on one style, or you will be disappointed.
Man for me Lion is one of the best Masterpieces from Soyeon. Like from intro until outro is perfect. The MV is so artistic and the message delivered well. The details, pause, beat, build up is crazy good to me. Kinda pump my heartbeat up everytime i hear it. You can say im a mainstream fan to love Lion, but fr this is the song got me into them fr. Im crazy with it for weeks. 😂 I don't have any problem with the second verse but appreciate your take for this. ❤
The rap on Senorita is crazily complex - there are some good breakdowns on it. You mentioned production on Latata - although Soyeon wrote it, it was before she took over producing for the majority of their work.
@andylozano5193 The first album, "I am", only has songs with Soyeon on the credits. For a couple of them I think she mostly just wrote her rap and she has no credits on "Hear me". Soyeon wrote all of "I made", except "Blow your mind" which was Minnie's debut - again Soyeon contributed lyrics, so basically the rap. They have written and produced pretty much everything for their group albums since then. Yuqi made her debut with "I'm the trend", which she wrote with Minnie and again Soyeon wrote the rap. Since "I burn", Jewish and Minnie have written B-sides on each album. Skipping forward, the only album where they didn't write or produce any songs at all was "Heat", which they did with 88rising for the US market.
Soyeon write and produces all of their music plus the first song you saw was their first soyeon didn’t have that much experience with producing music at that time yet she took that responsibility because the company doesn’t care about them
I know that you (Kazinho) doesn´t mean it personal against the girls themself and you´re not an Neverland so please don´t be mad if I as an Neverland correct you in some points. LATATA: First of all it was written by Soyeon, who also produced the song alongside Big Sancho. She A music video for the song was also released on the same day. Promotions for the song resulted in (G)I-dle's first music show win on SBS MTV's The Show on May 22, 2018. The song also resulted in a second win on Mnet's M Countdown. Unfortunately, she didn't have much time to write or produce the song. Cube Entertainment didn't have a song or anything for the group until shortly before the planned debut. If Soyeon hadn't stepped in and written and produced the song, the group wouldn't have even debuted. I can understand how you feel. However, I hope that this information will help you understand that it was due to the circumstances. Nevertheless, I have to say that Soyeon did a great job for the short time. Senorita: After Soyeon showing her talent in writing and producing music Cube decided directly to let her being the main producerin. After the relaese (G)-Idle themself wasn´t really proud of the Song because it didn´t hited as hard as they expacted. Altough Syeon got support from a Latino Musician to give the track a realistic Latin vibe. Uh-Oh: It´s not an old hip hop song. It was just meant to take up the vibe of an old hip hop song. Soyeon wanted to tell the haters and all the other people who said she would never be successful what she thought. She also criticizes the wrong behavior of our society. Unfortunately, in many cases people smile to your face but only talk badly behind your back. When you're at rock bottom or at the bottom, you're usually uninteresting, but from the moment you're successful, everyone comes crawling back. But so that it doesn't come across as mean and like an attack, she packaged it with this hip hop vibe to make it a cool song. Lion: maybe your comment about the second verse is just making me so angry because it's sung by Soyeon and she's my favorite in the group. But I have to be honest and say that it strikes me that although you say you pay a lot of attention to the production, i.e. the music itself apart from the singing and rapping, you obviously don't know much about music. If you knew, you would have noticed that the second verse after the intro was deliberately chosen to increase the tempo and power of the song so that the chorus didn't seem too exaggerated. The verse was perfect the way it was and fit in just as well. There's a reason why this song, even though it was supposed to be a B-side of the album and not the title song, is more hyped than the title song of the album. It wouldn't make sense and would generally ruin a song if you started with such a quiet intro and then jumped straight into the chorus, so the verses were necessary and fit perfectly. As far as the rap part and the vocals go, I agree with you, they were like everything these girls do, simply bombastic. About the dance it isn't gaga or trying to be even the lyrics says it devotes a lion dance. If you as a non-dancer know about the way to symbolise a lion and a dance choreography then please tell me. None of the dancers was barking they tried to act like lions. To you Atom I just want to make a little sentence because you talk directly to the Neverlands. You didn't think to hit so many different genres or be able to make good songs in so many different genres isn't a signature? Also, none of you noticed from the lyrics and the music video what's the song about. They Had a really bad time before and got very hard criticised and this song should show that they are still the Queens. So you can basically say they celebrating themselves, their music and their talents with these songs. Another thing what was shown is that it doesn't matter how hard they'll be pushed down they always stand up and fight for their success because they deserve it. To say they leg off signature humanity "bite" in this song it's just cheeky. It's so much more than a clinical framework pop hit song. Soyeon put in this song like in all the others her whole heart, soul, talent and knowledge about music into. The song is so perfectly done because Soyeon absolutely genius if it comes to music and production. Oh my god: What I also noticed is that you always saying from a production view that isn't good or isn't okay or like you said here in oh my God it's criminal but you don't give better tip or recommendation what should changed that you think it's a good production. So you wanna say that it's a smart producing choice if you keep the beat low from the half beat chorus into the slow beat verse into another half beat chorus into the final slow beat Outro? If Soyeon would have done this. The second half of the whole song would have been slow beat. That would have been a distractive choice. This more intense chorus before the slow and quiet outro was a genius decision and perfect for the ending. To conclude, I would just like to say that I don't want to attack or insult you with any of my comments on your opinions, because everyone has the right to their own opinion. I even agree with you on some things. Just not the ones I mentioned before. Additionally, I think you only looked at the songs very superficially. The lyrics were not addressed, nor were all the references in the music videos themselves. I think that's a bit of a shame, which is why I so often disagreed with you. Of course, as non-fans, you don't know the whole background story, i.e. why the songs were written for. Again, you can easily recognize the story or the criticism or whatever Soyeon wanted to express with them from the music videos and the lyrics. I hope that next time you make another video about a band I'm a fan of, you'll look at things more closely and not just say I don't like it and then leave it at that, because that's not a proper criticism. Nevertheless, I wish you all the best and lots of love.❤❤
Thid is exactly what I wanted to say. Lion has Gidles entire heart, soul and skills sewed on to it. And it’s a musical masterpiece, just for starters, the lyrics at Minnie’s high note goes up with the tune every time she says the word Up (stand up, the young lion takes its crown). Infeel this guys just try to say smt negative for the sake of it.
Senorita and Lion have always been my favorite tracks from them. I’ve always interpreted the “you foo” as being meant “you fool” in context with the rest of the song.
Thank you guys for the honest reaction! Your opinions are very valid which is very subjective after all. Wanted to give you guys a backstory on Gidle which I’m sure you guys already know some. GIDLE is a group that grew very organically. Cube is not very well known these days apart for gidle. Soyeon the leader is the creative producer of this group. Since the beginning I know a lot of people are confused on when she started being involved but she has been involved in the music creation since the beginning however earlier in their career she still had to adhere to the companies request. However I think it was after DUMDI DUMDI that she earned a place for herself since the company had no faith in the song however she believed in it and ended up convincing the company. DUMDI DUMDI was a song that really impacted their career and was really popular at the time. Gidle is a group that had a lot of growth throughout the years. They did not have world renowned producers like groups from the big 4 they didn’t have any kind of guidance. Cube did not provide enough support for them or was popular enough to pass their fans to their groups like the big 4. Latata only sold 2 thousand copies when it was released. Soyeon and the members really worked hard to be where they are today with sailing up to 1M albums as of recently. Gidle is known for their lyrics since they always try to convey a message which the Soyeon herself comes up with which just makes it way more personal. Soyeon won a ward as a producer and is very admired in Korea. Which I found funny that you guys found their producing to be lacking which that is what got them to where they are today. The girls did this themselves with no help from their company so I just respect them a lot they really deserve more than what they have.
4:51 miyeon didn't "not make the cut" she left on her own terms because the debut wasn't happening fast enough! there was no concrete debut date so she switched agencies :D
I couldn't disagree with you more about Oh My God. The beat behind that final chorus is the combination of the verse and pre-chorus beats. It is the song building to a crescendo before the final drop with the bell and Minnie singing by herself like at the very beginning. The song would just not work with what you are suggesting. If they stayed with the half beat for that, you would have no beat for the "Abi Mo Pectore" part, followed by a half beat section, followed by no beat again. The song would just fizzle out to nothing in the back half.
Imo for Latata, i felt the same too at first. Like it's lacking a punch. But the longer the time goes i became more attached to it. 😂 Idk the melody stucks in my head and the MV is fun too.
For (G)I-dle my favorite song was Nude. I really liked Tomboy and Queencard as well. Groups I highly recommend either listening to or reacting to are Seventeen, BTOB, and Red Velvet. All three have done a killing voice if you want to get a feel for sound/style before looking into songs for reacting
Wow! It was so cool to hear about the production side of these songs by such knowledgable people! You pointed out things that had originally made me love the songs that I had never noticed. You also just so happened to perfectly describe where Soyeon was in her career at the time of each song just by analyzing the production! SO fun to watch
4:55 I’m pretty sure Miyeon left the company herself because their debut was taking too long. There’s pre-debut photos of Miyeon with the other four members of BLACKPINK.
As many people have mentioned, Soyeon writes and produces a vast majority of their music. Also, the reason Soojin “left” was because bullying accusations surfaced from her when she was a kid. By the time they were proven false, CUBE had already forced her to withdraw from the group. Would you consider listening to their solo work/their new work? If so here are some recommendations: -TOMBOY (their first song/album to release after Soojin was dropped from the group) -MY BAG (!!!) -Nxde -Allergy/Queencard -I Want That -Fate-Super Lady For solos: Soyeon: BEAM BEAM Soojin: AGASSY/RIZZ ME UP(comes out May 24th) Yuqi: FREAK Minnie: Expectations Miyeon: DRIVE Shuhua: no solo yet but I suggest a fancam of her Boys solo stage grom their most recent tour/her part in MY BAG
(G)I-DLE is truly a different breed in K-Pop. They're the only girl group right now that is completely producing what they put out. Since debut Soyeon has been writing, composing, and producing their music and now Minnie, Yuqi, and most recently Miyeon are all writing their music with the first two also producing/composing. So the whole "these girls have potential, but the producers are holding them back" to try and push the blame away from the girls and onto a faceless producer doesn't work here lol The girls are the ones making their music and directing the entire vision of all their comebacks (Soyeon comes up with each new concept and directs everything down to the smallest detail.) Senorita is actually their least popular track and I agree with you guys that it is, in fact, a masterpiece lol Soyeon was really cooking on that one. Their first song after hiatus, where they came back as 5, was TOMBOY. Following this there is Nxde, Queencard, and Super Lady. There is also an English song they released under 88rising called I Do if you're curious about that.
(g)i-dle (they prefer to pronounce it as idle, the g is silent), is a self produced group, which is super super rare in kpop. their leader soyeon writes most of their songs, and all the members take part in the creative process, minnie and yuqi also helps write some of their songs. they're not afraid to step outside the box and speak on important topics that may be seen as a little controversial in south korea. a lot of their songs are about empowerment! definitely check out some of their newer stuff: - tomboy - nxde - allergy - queencard - wife - super lady
the production is much higher there as well, i know a lot of people got into the group because of tomboy and nxde
Lion was literally made when they were shooting the show Queendom 😀, it was ment to show something different in the show between multiple other groups for the audience.
@@camilledumeige3exactly. What does clinical even mean, it was meant to show everything they have in the competition 😭 I respect his opinion but I kind of feel they’re just trying to say something negative for the sake of it😭 senorita is one of their weakest titles because it was made as the title as opposed to 4/6 members wishes, this is crazy, lion is the heart and soul of gidle 💀
I love that the fans/stans are suggesting these tracks but I would have rather it be... 1) Debut song 2) latest song 3) Top 3 Best Performing songs or Personal Favorites 4) And Maybe a Pre debut song.
Latata might be lacking but it actually definitely one of K-Pop song with the most remix Soyeon remixed the song for almost every awards show performance and it's definitely more complete especially the dance break & intro during their debut stage
The line "it's not the girls' fault" cracks me up knowing that Soyeon was a producer. Albeit she produced it under circumstances that were out of her control. I'd be interested to see these guys react again once they read these comments lol
Lion and oh my god was the reason I got into (G)-idle, and I believe it was the same reason for a lot of others too sooo it's a bit wild for me to find someone who is just okay on it 😅
Absolutely love this video I love how you guys go through it in detail, I'm a fan of g-idle hope you get time to check out some of their other songs as well as these are the less viewed and liked song compared to others like tomboy, nxde or green card. Anyways once again thanks for this video absolutely amazing! ❤
Nooo the Discordpayola was just meant as a joke because in kpop people be tossing that word at anything thats basic promotion so i used it too😭 wasnt a real accusation or anything!!
Give my man horns and he will give it double digits 😂. Lion is a pop and the track is very settle to make the vocals shine. The concept is within the lyrics and calling it a lifeless and AI and clinical is straight up disrespectful. 🫤 I know everyone has their taste in music but if it is really a formula then everyone would be a successful producer. idle invest in the message of the songs and the production tends to follow the concept of the songs. The delivery of each line is even very intentional to empower the message itself. Lastly, listening to those without headphones is crazy 😂
Fy opinion with Senorita, maybe it's because there is a lot of sfx with various instruments in the production and its kinda sexy. I can see maybe that's his preferences. Imo especially Soyeon's rap there is so good man.
I got into Kpop again around the time tomboy was released by gidle & articles were out about their leader actually in charge of everything creative for their group and I was so impressed that somebody would come up with a song like that and it’s weird looking at these videos of them back then and seeing her turn into the writer she is today. The progression is crazy. And from a SMALL company too. They kept their company afloat 😂 Edit : I still wish I could’ve experienced them as a group with soojin. Soojin just seems to bring so much😭
Lion gets better the more you hear it. For kpop I tend to judge the whole product with the video tho cause I think part of kpop is the visuals and concept. So Lion with the MV is actually a masterpiece. I give it a solid 12
I really like your views! If you ever want to continue your reaction to them, id definately react to Hwaa, Tomboy, Nxde, Allergy, Queencard and Super Lady!
@kpxproductions Can i recommend you to do a part 2? Allergy/Queencard, Tomboy, Nxde, My Bag, Dumdi Dumdi, I Do, I want that, Super Lady, Wife, Revenge, Also the thing with Soojin was that another actress falsely accused Soojin of bullying her back in grade school. Even tho this was untrue the actress was more famous so Korea took her side and basically hated Soojin to the point of death threats. Soojin was placed on Hiatus but later she decided herself to leave the group. Soojin has also redebut as a soloist now though with her first album AGASSY, she is about to release her second one called RIZZ in just 3 days. As for Miyeon she left YG herself because they delayed Blackpinks debut so much. She then joined Cube where Soyeon picked her to be in Gidle. Their production also sucks bc cube is a HORRIBLE company and most of the time the members themselves had to pay for sets that's why they look bad sometimes. Loved the video sm pls do part 2!!!!!
god job haily, (G)idle is the GOAT. I agree with the audio, to be fair. they were supposed to debut and their company dropped the ball and right before lauch they said we dont have a song for you so Soyeon had the choice between them possible not debuting at all or taking it and the group into her own hands last minute and made this song for them
I think you should watch the queendom performance of lion. It could change how you see the song being portrayed in a large scale live performance with a story intro and stronger instrumentals for a grand audience. I think Idle got some really great songs you missed like Hann or their newest songs which topped all Korean charts (Tomboy, Queencard, Fate, Nude). Interestingly the fufufu part ruined seniorita for me, I liked everything else till this part and listening to it on repeat was killed by it.
You guys dissect music to the point you can’t see beauty & joy if you can’t see how good Lion is. Also… the fact that you missed “she showed me all the stars” & implying god isn’t male & everything else in the lyrics. You guys just don’t get Kpop & it’s pretty glaring.
for latata soyeon (the leader) actually had to produce it last minute cause cube failed to come up with a title track that fit the girls, soyeon was still young at this point and didn't expect at all to become the main producer and lyricist of the group but as the years pass by you can see just how much she improved she's extremely talented soyeon has made every single one of their title tracks from debut till the present day and from the oh my god/lion era with their mini album "I trust" she became the sole writer for the title tracks as well. Actually pretty disappointed you guys stopped at 2020 song wise because that's only 2 years worth of soyeon's development as a producer, though I'm surprised about the comments you guys made about lion and oh my god since they're regarded as some of their best both by critics and fans, but to each their own ofc. If you guys were to do a part two, I'd recommend "nxde" (read as nude), "hwaa", "hann alone in winter", and "villain dies" (hann aiw and villain dies are b-sides so they don't have music videos but I recommend them nonetheless). And these are only the tracks produced by soyeon, members Minnie and Yuqi also have production credits on nearly every single album except for some of the rookie ones
I always felt like they played it safe with their music but after Soojin left it completely changed. I'm not saying she should have been kicked out (as a Neverland I was devastated) but it's hard to deny that this def changed the way Soyeon writes her songs now.
Music is always subjective and from my perspective (as a stan), obviously I don’t agree with most of your take. I-dle as a predominantly self produce group, they’re telling their own stories with concept, melody, lyrics, production, etc. It’s always deeper. Again music is subjective and really appreciate your reactions.
Glad to hear the “missing bass line” opinion for LATATA track…it’s Soyeon’s first (?) track to compose for her group. It turns out to be the track with the most “remixed” version from her - the queendom version is SICK. ❤❤❤ And it’s interesting that there are lots of suggestions for producers without knowing Soyeon is always the producer for all these tracks 😂😂😂 Thank you for providing interesting and honest (I love it as a nevie) prodction-wise opinions. ❤❤❤ I think it would be more fun to digging further how Soyeon does production with B -sides. She has lots of constraints for title tracks (concept, choreography, catchiness….since they are not big 4). I often like b-tracks more.
Love G idle they have my respect for their involveent in the usic production. Thanks for the reaction. Was wondering if you could react to Onewe's cover of Latata. They are a k band under RBW who also write their own music most of the time
You formulated perfectly how I feel about (G)-Idle's music. I love many individual parts but put together they mostly keep me wanting for that certain something. Nice for occasional listening when I stumble upon a video like this, but that's it, unfortunately.
I need a part 2 where they react to the last song or music video with soojin which is Hwaa music video and then go into new songs without her 🥺 still miss her
Thank you guys for this again
no no, thank you! Thank you for the request and talking with us in the discord! Loved the background you gave and everything. Diving into (G) I-DLE was a blast

First time I have seen someone liking Senorita over Lion and Oh My God 💀
actually me to I love senorita over oh my god and lion
I think señorita is better than omg ( omg it's a such a bop but damn, señorita is one of their best ever)

Istg the senorita dislike is sooo forced, I adore that song sm, it’s like Nxde’s older sister hehe
@@Nxox_ where is the hate?
12:18 actually Soyeon wrote, composed, and produced the song (she does this with most of their songs). The reason it may sound a bit lazy is because she had to make the song in a short time since it was already close to the time they were supposed to debut, but Cube didn't have a debut song for them yet, so she just made it herself. This caused the company to give her full control of their music, concept, and everything else later down the line
I heard that there was actually a song for them obviously but Soyeon thought they were not good enough that's why she made latata
let's don't forget, Soyeon was 20 when she wrote this song. Short time to put up the song, little experience. I think this was a stoning achievement for a 20 year person.
@@eveen91 She was 19 :)
@@thats_not_breezyshes_soo_windy wrong, CUBE didn't give them a song
She wrote it for their group while being in the Kshow queendom.
They also pretty much said aespa can’t sing, which is ridiculous
Instead they tend to praise songs with empty or antidrop choruses and shouty/short vocal melodies like SKZ’s Gods Menu (which they gave 10/10), Oh my god, aespa’s Black Mamba, Senorita (for the post chorus). They’d probably also love a lot of Blackpink and Babymonster songs. And Super Lady
I would not take their opinions very seriously, as the songs they like to deride as “pop failures” actually ended up being very successful while the songs they praise highly were flops
@@suhkawnit They are not very bright, no, but they are kind of amusing in their assertive ignorance. From time to time, a clown that thinks he is a jester is good for the soul.
Goddamn. Y’all fkn haters. People can have opinions guys. And personally, I don’t like aespa music either. Very basic
@@EnaLikes you dont have. But suggesting that they don’t really know how to sing is just factually wrong.
These guys fall in love with songs where a voice is barely singing over an instrumental chorus. What the hell do they know about vocals?
Y’all speak like you’re brighter than them and anyone who thinks they’re the smartest is a clown himself
You stopped there but if you continued, you would get to the more "sell out" phase where she becomes a top-class commercial hitmaker and then trying to make those hits more distinctive (which brings us to the present)
this.
FINALLY SOMEONE SAID IT. Been thinking this for a while !!
Well put. I think this is the real joy of following the group.
"It's missing artistic signature" 🤡🤡🤡 saying this to Lion is crazy
He's not wrong. Soyeon wrote this song in an incredibly short time so it makes sense that it's missing something from it. Doesn't make it bad tho

One of their MVs actually has over 500M views.
one of soyeon and miyeon MV*
Here's what I imagine if she stayed in Blackpink:
- She will be the main vocalist
- Rose will be the lead vocalist
- In all the songs where Jennie has vocal lines, they go to Miyeon
- Most Lisa rap verses will be split or go to Jennie
- She could've been a swag vocalist instead of ultra feminine bubbly golden retriever girl (I remember IDLE members talked about her first appearance at CUBE, a lot, and they describe her as this intimidating girl with very YG fashion)
- Of course she's going to be a lot more famous but will be in the YG dungeon for too much
@@bintangnaufali don’t think miyeon would been the main vocal or the co-main vocal of blackpink.
@@mimi_imfat yeah that makes sense

Soyeon has written and produced the majority of the group's songs. Minnie and Yuqi have also co-written and produced numerous album tracks.
They kind of reinvented themselves after Soojin left the group... if you can reinvent a group that brings something completely different every comeback...

@@kiryukaimemorial"señorita" has one win on music show(march 6, 2019 "Show champion"). Also like "Uh oh". But in comparison...
Lol she WAS kicked out. You don’t have to be a hater to say this fact.
Guys, K-pop doesn't deserve hate. Oh My God, and, Lion are masterpieces.
Her songs have over 3 Billion streams on spotify, and around 1 Billion streams on South Korean most popular streaming service "Melon".
soyeon the leader produces most of their songs
He should mention that in his video!
Putting senorita above lion tells a lot about them😭 I respect ur opinion saying u liked senorita more, but saying lion had no soul is criminal💀 lion has their whole heart and soul and senorita was none of the members’ favourite, they personally don’t like it💀non of them wanted it as a title
Soyeon wanted it as the title, and it was Shuhua’s favorite before Lion came out
@@suhkawnit no, soyeon didn't want it as a title and yuqi disliked the song because of her you foo foo part. And they still mention how they dislike this song till date. Soyeon also said somewhere that it didn't do well on charts because Cube forced her to make it the title track even though she didn't want it to be the title. It's not a bad song but lion has all their soul in it unlike senorita
@@kenmakozume7130 Soyeon said Senorita was the one title track that Cube didn’t try to oppose. She never said that she was forced to choose it as the title track. Learn the difference.
Another correction: Yuqi is the only one who keeps ripping on the song. The others have since gotten over it and even questioned why Yuqi won’t let it go

Yuqi tries to speak for everyone when she says “we have trauma from Senorita”
Miyeon: “What trauma? You’re complaining too much”
Soyeon: “Was it really as bad as trauma?”
Shuhua: “You won a performance prize for that song…”
@@suhkawnit I see, I might have misunderstood maybe, and I apologize for my oversight. But I feel it's not right to say Lion is worse than senorita when it was the begining of her musical genuis and impact. Agree on that?
I don't have any problem with the second verse but appreciate your take for this. ❤
The rap on Senorita is crazily complex - there are some good breakdowns on it. You mentioned production on Latata - although Soyeon wrote it, it was before she took over producing for the majority of their work.
Is I made the only album where the B sides aren’t written by any of the girls? Excluding OSTs too ofc
Soyeon write and produces all of their music plus the first song you saw was their first soyeon didn’t have that much experience with producing music at that time yet she took that responsibility because the company doesn’t care about them
(G)-Idle definitely deserve a redo with their songs after Soojin left. The transformation is crazy
For some reason, in Señorita, I always thought that foo was fool. So it would be, You fool, fool, fool, fool fool

@@theflowersrfake they ask for a response so there it is 🫣😅
Thid is exactly what I wanted to say.
The girls did this themselves with no help from their company so I just respect them a lot they really deserve more than what they have.
for any future viewers, kazinho retconned senioritas 11.5 into a 12 on their aespa armageddon reaction at the end
4:51 miyeon didn't "not make the cut" she left on her own terms because the debut wasn't happening fast enough! there was no concrete debut date so she switched agencies :D
Atom’s daily count of “stuff like that”: 385849202958482
I couldn't disagree with you more about Oh My God.
So happy to see yall react to g-idle enjoy the ride!
Please react to Queen card , super lady and tomboy by this group ✨😭
Also "I want that" and "My bag"🥺
Please don’t…
I think Gidle wasn’t meant for them.
And nude
Imo for Latata, i felt the same too at first. Like it's lacking a punch. But the longer the time goes i became more attached to it. 😂 Idk the melody stucks in my head and the MV is fun too.
Should have include tomboy, nxde and superlady
Definitely excited to see you guys react to newer gidle songs if you ever do! The newer music videos are great!
For (G)I-dle my favorite song was Nude. I really liked Tomboy and Queencard as well.
Groups I highly recommend either listening to or reacting to are Seventeen, BTOB, and Red Velvet. All three have done a killing voice if you want to get a feel for sound/style before looking into songs for reacting
miyeon left yg beore they could debut, she didn't get cut, she was just tired
If so here are some recommendations:
-TOMBOY (their first song/album to release after Soojin was dropped from the group)
-MY BAG (!!!)
-Nxde
-Allergy/Queencard
-I Want That
-Fate-Super Lady
For solos:
Soyeon: BEAM BEAM
Soojin: AGASSY/RIZZ ME UP(comes out May 24th)
Yuqi: FREAK
Minnie: Expectations
Miyeon: DRIVE
Shuhua: no solo yet but I suggest a fancam of her Boys solo stage grom their most recent tour/her part in MY BAG
So the whole "these girls have potential, but the producers are holding them back" to try and push the blame away from the girls and onto a faceless producer doesn't work here lol The girls are the ones making their music and directing the entire vision of all their comebacks (Soyeon comes up with each new concept and directs everything down to the smallest detail.)
Senorita is actually their least popular track and I agree with you guys that it is, in fact, a masterpiece lol Soyeon was really cooking on that one.
Their first song after hiatus, where they came back as 5, was TOMBOY. Following this there is Nxde, Queencard, and Super Lady. There is also an English song they released under 88rising called I Do if you're curious about that.
(g)i-dle (they prefer to pronounce it as idle, the g is silent), is a self produced group, which is super super rare in kpop. their leader soyeon writes most of their songs, and all the members take part in the creative process, minnie and yuqi also helps write some of their songs.
they're not afraid to step outside the box and speak on important topics that may be seen as a little controversial in south korea. a lot of their songs are about empowerment!
definitely check out some of their newer stuff:
- tomboy
- nxde
- allergy
- queencard
- wife
- super lady
the production is much higher there as well, i know a lot of people got into the group because of tomboy and nxde
Finally someone liked Senorita
One of my favourites from G idle
Lion was literally made when they were shooting the show Queendom 😀, it was ment to show something different in the show between multiple other groups for the audience.
Lion is made for a survival show with a limited time!
And it's literally one of their best songs. I don't get the criticism at all. To each their own though.
1) Debut song
2) latest song
3) Top 3 Best Performing songs or Personal Favorites
4) And Maybe a Pre debut song.
6.5 for Lion and to say Senorita is better that's a crime.
Next time (G)I-dle: TOMBOY, MY BAG, NXDE, QUEENCARD, SUPER LADY
Lion and oh my god was the reason I got into (G)-idle, and I believe it was the same reason for a lot of others too sooo it's a bit wild for me to find someone who is just okay on it 😅
This team member did not even receive vocal lessons. Leader Soyeon was against this, so she started singing her own vocal lessons.
Please give us more (G) I-DLE reactions! Loved the vid. 😁
For LATATA, you may see their performance in the dark side version for Queendom.
You guys should react their new songs that completely different from previous one
Oh no worries, we were not offended at all! We found it very funny! Thank you for the lovely comment! Stay tuned and more!
Lion is too perfect sounding because it's made for a survival competition.
More gidle more
they didn' do Nxde, im so dissapointed
i was thinking bout BIBI, animal farm tells a good story
Yess the song itself is really good!!
Not reacting to NXDE after that spicy Aespa reaction is insane
Soyeon: I don't like señorita
They: Señorita has soul
I love the señorita appreciation tho. Thank you for making justice for my girl
“You chi” is crazy
Who's the hater? Who's the fans? >,
I got into Kpop again around the time tomboy was released by gidle & articles were out about their leader actually in charge of everything creative for their group and I was so impressed that somebody would come up with a song like that and it’s weird looking at these videos of them back then and seeing her turn into the writer she is today. The progression is crazy. And from a SMALL company too. They kept their company afloat 😂
Edit : I still wish I could’ve experienced them as a group with soojin. Soojin just seems to bring so much😭
Lion gets better the more you hear it. For kpop I tend to judge the whole product with the video tho cause I think part of kpop is the visuals and concept. So Lion with the MV is actually a masterpiece. I give it a solid 12
I'm not a fan, but I generally like their songs. Hann (Alone) is my favorite track from them.
I really like your views! If you ever want to continue your reaction to them, id definately react to Hwaa, Tomboy, Nxde, Allergy, Queencard and Super Lady!
@kpxproductions Can i recommend you to do a part 2? Allergy/Queencard, Tomboy, Nxde, My Bag, Dumdi Dumdi, I Do, I want that, Super Lady, Wife, Revenge,
Also the thing with Soojin was that another actress falsely accused Soojin of bullying her back in grade school.
Atom just moving his head radomly LOLLLL
god job haily, (G)idle is the GOAT. I agree with the audio, to be fair. they were supposed to debut and their company dropped the ball and right before lauch they said we dont have a song for you so Soyeon had the choice between them possible not debuting at all or taking it and the group into her own hands last minute and made this song for them
That is so interesting! I never heard people love senorita so much
FINALLY SOME SEÑORITA RECOGNITION!
saying that all the info doesnt mean anything to the music while skipping soyeons made me cry a little bit...
No jokes! Soyeon ,the center, is the main producer of this group!!!!!
I’m critical to myself as they are to every song they listen to.🤣
I think you should watch the queendom performance of lion.
Another interesting (G)I-dle package would be: HANN (Alone), HWAA, MY BAG, ALLERGY, WIFE
for latata soyeon (the leader) actually had to produce it last minute cause cube failed to come up with a title track that fit the girls, soyeon was still young at this point and didn't expect at all to become the main producer and lyricist of the group but as the years pass by you can see just how much she improved she's extremely talented
soyeon has made every single one of their title tracks from debut till the present day and from the oh my god/lion era with their mini album "I trust" she became the sole writer for the title tracks as well.
Definitely do Tomboy, Nxde, Allergy, and Queencard. Allyour pics are from their debut year. Now see what they are like with 5 years under their belt.
I need a part 2 where they react to the last song or music video with soojin which is Hwaa music video and then go into new songs without her 🥺 still miss her
the most successful self produced girl group in kpop, if i am not mistaken.
they have a comeback in july, a part 2 of (g)i-dle could be a good idea 🙂
