This truck is going to be unaffordably unaffordable
dealer markups or resale dealers will buy lot of them to flip
@@youtubecarspottersguide1 we'll be seeing them on Bring A Trailer.
@@indetrucks Don't forget Cars & Bids.
probably not worth to buy 1st gen anyways. i'm gonna wait a few years until they get it someone close to the bulletproofness of the current gen ones once all the kinks are ironed out.
Toyota thinks they can price this higher because they intend to bring to market a Ford Maverick competitor at a price slightly lower than the current Tacoma (guessing). I'm just not seeing customer's salaries increasing at the same rate these vehicles are raising their prices. At current interest rates, this will not be affordable for many (especially with dealer markups).
These manufacturer press events feel like a big ole manufactured controlled advertisement where the manufacturer hides the pain $$$$ till the end/near production.
I’m just so glad that Toyota actually TRIED with this Taco. It offers so much more that help cover its short comings.

Not for long
The fact that you did this whole review in the rain shows your level of commitment 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Thanks for noticing. My shoes are still wet.
i would do it in Hawaii anytime. It rains there almost every day.
@@mikesecor6074 It's warm rain. It is not like PNW where you are freezing to the bone.
@@drivingsports You know you loved it. lol It is a great change from PNW rain. Warm and you can go all day in it w/out worrying about the sniffles. lol I do think that is why you got stuck making your video in the rain, because the other journalists are too prissy to deal with it. You got the tolerance for it. 🤠 You man up, they head for the tents. lol
Out of all the youtubers YOURS was the video I was waiting for the most on this truck. Thank you :)
He does it right! He knows what people want to know. He does not hover over fluff points like easter egg names in the headlights and skid plates that have letters or symbols on them. He talks about the points that matter most! Which is why I am glad I found his channel.
This is what i talking about!!!this tacoma now is sick!
Glad I waited an extra 12 hrs to watch a quality/professional review of the Taco rather and a hard-breathing/stumbling/rushed review from other channels... great review as always!
TFL? 😂
To be fair, they had some of them scheduled too close together. In a couple of videos, you can see others on the sidelines looking a bit ticked off that they have to wait. In one video, there were 2 reviewers on the same truck.
@@66skate That is actually very common at events like this. I am more amazed when they are NOT all ticked off at each other. But since this event was rained on a lot, I assume their tolerances were down.
Love your videos! Straightforward, simple and full of info with none of the useless fluff just to make the video longer for UA-cam's algorithm. Thanks for the quality content!
Cant wait! After the lackluster Sequoia (for my needs) the new Tacoma TRD and Trailhunter look like they check all my boxes.
Removing that chin spoiler on several trims would be my first ‘mod’.
This is the most authoritative channel on off-road reviews, especially when it comes to Toyota and Subaru. This Tacoma refresh looks encouraging. Not a truck person myself but if the new 4Runners are similar it will be good news for the fan base. Expect price to go up substantially though. MSRP for TrailHunter will probably reach 70K
Yep...and they are pricing a huge part of the population out of their product since 70k is the entire household income of the average American home.
@@glamdring0007 7-8 year car loans are becoming a thing so these will sell.
@@ls60fd Sadly you're probably right...25k worth of truck going for 70k because people have no choice.
Maybe for the clowns that pay ADM, it MSRP should stay inline with the Ranger Raptor and ZR2 Colorado.
@@glamdring0007 they definitely have a choice.
I’m happy you got the invite to that event and was able to make these videos! Nice work.
Can’t wait to flex the trail hunter at the mall with my Starbucks coffee.
I didn’t allow myself to watch a review on this truck from anybody else so I can watch this one because the content is just 🔥
Love that Midsize trucks are getting the Hype. hopefully these are in a moderately reachable price range. the trail hunter looks like it would be right at home in the PNW.
The Whole Foods Parking lots will be full of them.
@@drivingsports Cool
@@drivingsports You're not wrong.
@@drivingsports 🤣😂😅 Shall we gather at the Bellevue lot for the Toyota tailgate parties? lol
I don’t think the Trd pro and the Trailhunter will be moderately affordable. 😅 they’ll probably be in the 50-60 range. Of course everyone’s definition of affordable is different. The lower trims will be the ones to get affordability wise. I like the Sport and Limited.
The fact that Toyota kept the 6MT as an option made me very happy. Though I am sad about the V6 being cut.
Looks like Toyota will continue their 18 year dominance. They've thought of nearly everything with the new Tacoma.
Except for a front locking diff. That’s a hard fail.
And the option for 35s. I hope they figured out the issue with their 4x4 system not being able to switch from 4hi to 4lo and the locker engagement delay so I agree they still missed a bunch....could've done without some overly priced and fancy seats for any of the forementioned
🙌
@@pewpewtactical5288came here to say the same. Other midsize trucks have the front locking diff, thought for sure Toyota would include it.
@@Flash1776_ Yeah when you look back to even the first years of tbe ZR2 from Chevy they’ve always had a rear and front. Same with jeep. I would like to hear the engineer’s explanation.
Your video has been the best on this truck. All the info presented professionally.
kudos for keeping your composure in the rain. always apperceive your level headed reviews
Great video, nice footage and clear coverage of the new trims!! Looking forward to the test videos!
The current Tacoma starts in the mid-30s. I bet this starts around 40K, and upper trim levels will easily be in the 50s. The TRD Pro and Trail Hunter will be pushing almost 60K.
Good thing that we have a very strong economy and no inflation at all.
@@JustChillingNahhhhMean lol
@@JustChillingNahhhhMean and i was waiting top buy a taco until the new gens came out, i guess ill have to settle for last gen.
Hopefully they improve quality control, and they start standing behind their products.
One of the best productions I have ever seen from you guys. Keep it up!
You cover ALL the important stuff! Geeza Ryan, you never cease to impress me. I know that when I go to your channel, I will learn everything important! 1 tiny point you missed. (unless it is not real) In the rear bumper there are a Hi-Lift jack points. Seems you got put at the end of the journalists line to review since you were forced to deal with the Hawaii rain. lol I know that rain! WARM! Beats our PNW rain. lol Great review!
So far you have the best camera angles out of every other youtubers
Toyota absolutely nailed it with this updated Tacoma. Probably going to be REALLY pricey, and I am wondering if the hybrid was more for the torque (sorely needed) vs. the fuel economy. All remains to be seen, but the interior re-design looks awesome as does the exterior--Toyota will sell as many as they are capable of making, that's for sure. Great job, Toyota!
The tundra has better mpg than before on paper but in the real world it is similar or worse than the 5.7 , except the hybrid which is expensive
I'm betting it'll still be a more expensive, worse performing truck than the Ranger and Colorado.
I know that everyone's ready for a huge price hike, but I'd actually more expect a same price tag near where they're already priced. We saw price drops on the Prius, and the Grand Highlander comes in a whopping $1,500 more than a standard Highlander. It seems like they're making them more reachable than their competitors.
Gorgeous truck
It’s garbage.
Can we just appreciate the Ryan's content with the like button.Real dedicated to provide the best even in when it's showering outside. 🔥
My 2007 Tundra limited 4WD was $37K brand new, 16 years later, the same 2023 Tundra limited is $70K. I wish my income had gone up that much. Car prices are getting ridiculous.
8:50, my guy just casually talking during a rain storm. Great review, overall I'm impressed with the new Taco, enough that I'm going to hold off on a current manual version for a new one.
Glad Toyota has finally recognized the Tacoma as the official vehicle of Hawaii.
Really impressive. Yes - Toyota nailed it. Specially with the Trail Hunter 👌
I really want to see SR, TRD OffRoad, and PreRunner!
I love the new design! Stoked to see that review of one on the off road course. Aloha Ryan!
You know we're gonna send it.
First review I've watched, excellent job! *Edit* I think this is basically what the new 4runner will look like. And I can get behind that!
Yes, but at the same time will miss that bulletproof 4.0. I honestly think that where 4Runner is right now is just perfect. Enough tech to keep up to the times and a bulletproof engine. Sure the trans is a little outdated, but it’s not hunting for gears like the 6 speed in the current taco.
@@EJPinter CURRENT 4RUNNER IS NOT PERFECT AT ALL INFACT You USED That WORD ON The CURRENT 4 RUNNER IS A INSULT FOR THE WORD. 4 RUNNER IS NEEDED ASAP
@@EJPinter The current 4runner is incredibly underpowered and low on mpg’s for its given class. Reliable yes, but that engine isn’t good at anything else except going forever.
Toyota has really upped their game!🌟
Watched this for fun since I really enjoy the channel. Now it's got me thinking (dreaming?) about getting that Trailhunter Tacoma when my old car finally caves in. Can't wait for the hands-on reviews later in the year.
Cool....Like the Trail Hunter. We need to see the new 4runner 2024
People been calling up asking about these. We're already doing pre orders, 10k over for some base model, promised the first Trailhunter at no less than 100k. And we still have the reserve to decide not to sell if we don't feel like if we think we can gouge for even more "market adjustment". In the end, 90% of them pay the extra blackmail we place on them.
We get around our floorplan model this way. Just wait till they show the next FJ. Easy 75k-150k. We just tell them up front what it is. Take it , or leave it. If you don't take it, the next Karen or Chad will. Karen needs to pick up her besties, and Chad needs to brag to all his bros on the driving range. You're going to need that street cred.
I'm hoping we get that Crown sport. The regular Crown ain't selling. But that Crown Sport looks like a easy scalp..
Well seems like they carry over this design to the new 4runner and lots of people will be very happy indeed!
I'm sure they will be priced out of everyones reach like everything else these days.
Inflation = devalued currency thanks to government deficit spending monetized by central banks. Voters are fine with this so it'll go on for foreseeable future until governments return to balanced budgets. Won't happen until there's a lot more pain.
@@James-il3tq Well said, but it's not like we have any choice. Fiscal conservative party is more than happy to run the printing press when they are in charge. Secession is the only answer.
@James Dont forget the sky high interest rates. Thanks Uncle Joe!
Unfortunately small government, fiscal responsibility are something long gone. People became greedy and want free stuff. They want their daddy government to take care of everything.
I’m still in love with my 2020 tacoma Trd off-road 4x4
Ditch the "sports bar" on the Trailhunter and it is a nice set up! Nice video - well done.
This Tacoma looks GREAT! Im not buying one because Id never pay that much for a truck only to use it the way a truck should be used. I'll buy a used one in a few years when I wont be afraid to get it dinged up and dirty.😅
High quality editing and effort 👏🏼
I predict Ryan owning this Taco. Because I am sure he misses his TRD Tacoma(Like I miss my TRD Tacoma). I am actually looking at it, but can't pull the trigger(When they can be ordered) without FIRST seeing the 6th gen 4Runner.
Thx for doing tocoma on the big island. Seems like a perfect dual
Can wait to see the full review with test drive on your Channel 🤩🤜🏼🤛🏼
Like the controls and the included buttons/knobs, but that touch screen is way too big and an eyesore, kind of distracting tbh. Time will tell if these end up being better than the predecessors still running today.
yes going ...going...gon out of the park i will wait for your comparison analysis between the midsize trucks .
Trd pro looks pretty damn good.
I'm so happy you got to go to my Home state! Tacomas galore on all islands! 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
Beautiful place and every 5th car on the road was a Tacoma. 😂
2400 watt AC inverter sounds nice.
So is that on board air compressor.
Thats an amazing set of trucks. I can afford the TRD sport, but I agree, first thing I get rid of that ridiculous chin spoiler. The only other thing, no AC outlets in the back for any trim. Otherwise a prefer truck wow just wow
A couple things im not a fan of but for the most part i really love what they did, a lot of cool tech and the interior looks amazing
A much better, well thought out vehicle than the Tundra for sure. Now bring on the 4Runner!!!
This is quite impressive from Toyota. For a very conservative company these updates are refreshing.
Fantastic review thank you. Toyota has put thought into the 2024 models. Waiting for the pricing will be interesting.
Waiting for all these 2.4 turbos to blow up will be entertaining
I have to admit I’m pleasantly surprised that the 6MT is still alive in the 4th Gen.
This is a big win for Toyota. Previously Taco was cramped in the front and back for taller drivers. Looks like they really improved the dimensions for the front seats with only minor improvements in the rear seat. I think most buyers will forgive the limited improvements in rear legroom for a much better seating position in the front. It seems the actual front and rear seats are larger which takes away some of that legroom from the increased cab size. Hard to tell for sure without a side-by-side comparison.
They raised the roof 1.3 inch but also raised the seat 1.3 inch. Good for people wanting to sit up higher. Not helpful for tall people 😢
Wow, best review I've seen. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The mid sized truck segment is really good now! Cant wait for a midsized truck off road comparison!
Tacoma Trd pro vs Ranger Raptor vs Colorado zr2/Canyon AT4X
For sure, this is the best car review out there 🎉
Looks like hybrid fuel economy will be marginal/poor like on new Tundra. Hybrid has insane torque but (like the Tundra) will come at the expense of improved fuel economy.
Completely antithetical to have a hybrid system. They could have put a small block v8 in it and had the same mileage.
@@matthewm3912 A small block V8 would have been significantly weaker though. The Silverado 5.3 (mind you a full size truck engine) only produces a paltry 383 ft lbs of torque compared to the Tacoma's 465 ft lbs.
@@jaekimchi That extra torque means nothing though. The trucks towing is still limited by its frame.
@@matthewm3912 Who said anything about towing? The fact is the Toyota Hybrid obliterates a small block V8. You have to remember to get modern V8 economy numbers you need AFM and AFM has been plagued with lifter failures. So the Toyota is more reliable, produces more torque, and is more fuel efficient.
As always, amazing coverage! Yikes on that front bumper on the Limited package. That air dam is nasty but assuming functional for noise and possibly gas mileage?
First video that confirms the headrest adjusts at least up and down. Hopefully, they adjust forward and back also.
I don’t think they’ll be able to make them fast enough. They hit this one out of the park.
I bought a 23 and it was a mess. They must have been rushing those too
I think we can all make some very educated guesses as to what the next gen 4Runner is going to be like. From the Tundra to the Sequoia and now the Taco, they're being pretty consistent with the changes.
Love this new Tacoma! I’ll wait for 2nd or 3rd gen version though
that blue color though!!🔥🔥🔥🔥
I was worried about what the new Tacoma was going to be like... Good job Toyota, now I need to save up to buy one. If it's as strong as the old one it's a good investment, a 20 plus year ownership is always nice
GREAT TRUCKS! TOO EXPENSIVE!!
The King🐐🙌🎉
Can't wait to see the update on 4runner. Hope it comes with the similar interior on 4runner too
Props for working in the rain and doing it well.
Ryan is a true warrior. Lot's of experience working in the rain. PNW folk are hard core. Besides, Hawaii rain is warm and that is refreshing when you are used to being drenched from the merciless cold down pours.
Thank you for doing a good job editing. Not saying the other influencers are garbage, but they rushed production and are all over the place.
i love your video 😍😍
Am Torn Between the trd-pro & trailhunter?.Loving both of them to the max!.those seats in the trd-pro are insane!
I genuinely love these. Can't wait to be unable to buy one after dealer mark up lol
I’m so hoping that the Toyota Stout is officially announced soon and that you get to do a video on it. And then hopefully a comparison video between the Stout and Maverick.
amazing the improvements from auto makers
cool truck bro, the future maaan!
Did they say anything about the crew cab 6ft bed being available for other trims besides the trailhunter?
I always looked at the trd pro as just a slightly nicer trd off road and didnt really see the point of it. Now they've done so much to make the trd pro feel special for the first time i kinda want one.
These are great but I'm looking forward to the Stout coming back.
It does look good inside and out. But I’ll gladly stick with my 21 GX460. GXOR!
They did a great job with the design. Should have kept the optional iforce in the tundra on these in the top 2 trims. Would make sense at a higher price point if they are seriously thinking of competing with the range raptor. Overall, great package all things considered. They should sell a ton.
V6 is not needed
I really hope this treatment makes its way to the next gen Hilux in Australia.
My preference is hybrid for more power and better MPG(hopefully). I still have a 2nd gen and I don't want another 13~16mpg truck after build up anymore. Upper 20's to lower 30's would make me retire my 2007 with 300K+ miles. But of course, need to know the pricing first. Lol.
the trailhunter would looks soo much better without the utily bars
I got a bit lost when he says that on the interior of the limited trim is smaller/uncomfortable but on the TRD PRO trim, he is very comfortable with it.
Agree, would like additional clarification. Seems like all interiors would be the same size.
Nice review sir ryan
I casted the T24a cylinder heads for these in Missouri at work pretty well made head's
Nice job for getting their 2024 lineup.
Great review
Love the new taco! When it releases a mid size truck head to head would be nice. Still also waiting on more in depth Chevy Colorado review
I love that watch..
I would like to see new Tacoma with some 200-250HP diesel engine and 6 speed manual for markets outside US.
Hilux should be just that.
I think Toyota nailed it. Real question is how affordable is it going to be.
Wow! I really like it! I almost bought a hilux but now I want a tacoma! Tundra is very expensive, I wonder how much this tacoma will cost.
465lbs of torque from a turbo 4... on a midsized truck. The power numbers have gotten absolutely absurd
I remember when getting 300hp out of a 3.5 V6 was pretty decent power output.. things have changed a lot in 10-15 years
Awesome torque but I'd rather see 340-370lbs torque with better fuel economy. Looks like Toyota didn't prioritize fuel economy in new Taco (like the new Tundra).
Yeah it’s kinda crazy how my V8 half ton pales in comparison to the torque output of these new midsize trucks.
I remember my dad had a 1999 BMW 323i w/ inline V6. Hp was 170 and torque was 180. It is insane how much power AND the fuel economy new vehicles have. Engineering is pretty amazing.
A portion of that torque figure comes from the electric motor. Instant torque will be an interesting feeling.
@James I was hoping for better fuel economy with the hybrid, but it looks like the trade between the v6 and the hybrid is more power with the fuel economy of the 2.4.
A work of art
