Hi, Can you explain the white stuff that you cool your steel in please? Way back we used two slabs of steel to cover out hot steel in so it can cool slowly, would this be about the same idea? I am about to make a knife out of leave spring, will be my first try.
It's called perlite, you can get it at garden stores(or somewhere similar). It's a great insulator and it's exactly used as you said, to cool the steel down slowly
@@jk.projects great, watch House Works video on the one he makes you dont have to make it so it goes horizontally either i wouldent, if i wanted a horizontal grinder i would make a dedicated one and not a combo one like he makes
@@blacksteel2434 I actually took alot of inspiration from the revolution 2x72, funny thing is my grinder does go horizontally aswell I just rarely use. I wish I could have 2 grinders, but that is the problem with a tiny workshop, you can only fit so many tools.
A few people have asked me that aswell, but I draw everything by hand and then use that drawing for the outline. I think in the future I will draw out all the knives and share them.
The hammon is not clear. Try to thin the mass and apply it in layers. Each layer must dry. It will stick better. No wire will be needed. The oil will not get under the insulation and the hammon should come out clearer. I had the same problem. I like the wood. What is this wood? Generally good job.
Thanks for watching my video! Yeah this was the first time attempting a differential hardening so I got alot to learn, but I still liked the dark look. I have no idea what wood, just some scrap I had.
I think there may have been something wrong with your ferric chloride solution it looked really muddy and it should be almost a translucent amber color
The acid is not the problem. The issua is I used leaf spring(5160 steel) and that is a deep hardening steel. Hard to get a nice hamon with it, but not impossible. Thanks for watching
Excellent work! Keep working.
Your talent is awesome my friend and the steel speaks for itself, outstanding my friend,
Top 👍
That finesse tho...
bıçagın şablonunun resmini atarmısınız.
👍👍👍
Очень хорошая работа!

Amazing knife 👍👍👍
Dope AF results, @jk.projects! Now it needs an equally dope sheath to complete the package!
Do you do custom orders my friend
No I don't. This is more of a hobby than a business
@@jk.projects I understand my friend, you let me know if you ever have any large blades for sale my friend
Mamtap
Hamons look best on sanmai blades from what I've seen here on UA-cam.
Your belt grinder is made of really thing tube steel you should make one of 1/4in thick walled tube steel
yes I agree, thats why I'm going to make a new one

@@jk.projects ya i am working on getting a shop build
Can you share the dimensions of the product?
verry good bro
Thank you
I need a template, can you share?

@@jk.projects okay, I'll wait
What angle grinder cut off disc you used to cut that steel thanks
Just a normal cut-off disc for steel
@@jk.projects thanks
Beautiful work, lad….
thanks
This knife for sale ?
No, unfortunatly none of my work is for sale. For now.
The handle is not ergonomic
How many hours of work is it to build a knife this way?
This one took about 4 full days of work. Don't know exactly how many hours.
Супер👍👍👍

Whats powder 01:21 ?
can i get blade design on soft copy please
I don't have it. I drew it bu hand and used it as template, But I will share designs in future knives. thanks for watching
@@jk.projects also can you make this knife with manual tools after you flatten the steel

Wood looks like pine not generally considered hard enough for scales unless stabilised. Pine has a tendency to be a sponge for moisture

@@jk.projects not talking about your hamone I think your ferric chloride is contaminated it shouldn’t look like that at all
can you give us the template pls?
I wish I could, but I draw it by hand and use that one template to make the knife
good job what kind of oil you use for knife handle?
Thanks, linseed oil
