Performance by drummers at the Beijing Drum Tower. Taken by Eric Dungan on the 2013 Eden Prairie High School Band Trip to China. March 31, 2013 9:30am performance
A few years back I actually got to see this performance in real like, while visiting Beijing, and the drums would echo through your bones. It was absolutely gorgeous
old times were better _the boomer that ignores countless wars, diseases, slavery, numerous dictatorships, severe hunger, extreme poverty around the world..._
War drum is more than an inspiring musical instrument in ancient China warfare. the various rhythm of drum plays can differs depend on the order of the commander. whether to move forward slow and steady, to charge, to hold ground and defend, which unit to move (chariot, calvary, infantry...) to shoot arrows... etc. War drum is very useful.
They also believed the drumming would call attention to the gods, so the gods would see the deeds of valor on the battlefield and be there to guide the fallen into the afterlife.
@@IanMalcolm-rw5pn Yeah since the Chinese face both of them. Watch the Kings and Generals video about the Chinese intervention. Chinese were outnumbered.
I've been near drums like these, played them too, not at this location, but even so. Your entire body shakes, even if you can barely hear you can still feel the thunder course through your body. Drums are fire pit into noise.
The Beijing Drum Tower was originally built on the ancient city walls of Beijing during the Great Ming Dynasty. It was used for ceremonial events, celebrations, and even for war. During the “Protection War of Beijing”, the drum tower was used to inform the royal court enemies are approaching, and command troops to defend.
Dodgeball when your teammates are watching from the sidelines - Girls cheering each other on: "Come on Kylie you can do it!" Boys cheering each other on:
Damn Imagine these drums on the battlefield back in the day. Imagine being on the opposite side & hearing those drums coming closer & closer....I would be shitting my pants & I don't scare easy.....
Yeah. The best recording of the deep drum sound that I have heard was on a Fourplay album. The song was called Chant. In the intro of that song if your listening to it on earbuds or out loud you feel it. They did the best when it comes to capturing it in a recording. Awesome stuff.
This building was profiled in an episode of the PBS Kids show *Let's Go, Luna!* about Beijing. You can probably find it here on UA-cam. Forgot the name of the episode, but I remember it involved Carmen's pet hamster, Honey, wanting her cage to be less...boring.
The vibrations of these drums will resonate out into the world and into the Universe. Sound carries and affects us all. A primitive call to LISTEN to beat of our own hearts perhaps 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
That feels like u in the middle of the war. And the drummer giving the opening for the war signal. Take a ready of ur equip and face to face with ur enemies

it was like the horns of Rome
that explains about drum moments in the great wall's movie.

Horns, Trumpets and drums and so many instruments have been used to signal and help issue commands
I had a chance to see these on a trip to China. The sound doesn't convey the rattle in your bones that accompanied it. Once in a life time experience.
Imagine being in the middle of a war and hearing this over the hill to see thousands of troops marching towards you
imagine being the defended and hearing the drums and seeing million of troops rush the walls.
*John wick enters chat*
now imagine arriving with reinforcements of thousands of troops looking upon your enemy under the hill
@@IanMalcolm-rw5pn That's not true. Initially the Chinese were outnumbered by US and Korean troops.

I can only imagine how it must feel to be that close to such large drums.
Deafening most likely

I can only imagine having culture instead of that ancient fuck trying to sterilize everything
Exactly. It must feel. As in youre probably feeling the actual drums being hit.
@@crichtonvasmoya4290 Your comment genuinely made me laugh. A fellow American I assume?
This sounds like my neighbores walking around the house during the night
Back in the old centuries they used this to assemble fleet of soldiers.

Back in the old days people used drums during battle, Guan Yunchang only took one drum performance to take down one of Zhang Fei's best generals
yes true, it's time to wake up guys.
