We had a young man show up at our church LITERALLY on hardcore drugs several months ago. Elders layed hands on him, prayed with him.
He has continued to come and is now totally sober almost 2 months now.
He was shown love but no one cosigned drug use.

@prezofutube yeah Church discipline is a dead concept because we've clung to grace, mercy, and love. God is all of those things, but he's also just. Paul even teaches church discipline in the manner that a parent disciplines: you rebuke and then excommunicate with the hope it will bring that believer back.

Reasons I stopped participating on Reddit’s Christian sub. Unbelievers randomly sneak in without disclosing what they believe but then get upset and combative when they’re answered with anything biblical. As much as they accuse the church of needing everything to be Christian, they can barely tolerate clearly labeled Christian spaces…and won’t listen when that’s pointed out to them.

Everyone is falling for the false religion that promotes mixing worldly ways of living and views with what is of God’s way of living and what he commands. They want to serve two masters and make excuses for it to make themselves feel better about themselves. They want to find a way to blame God for everything they disagree with, that goes wrong in their lives, but not themselves and other people for being the actual causes.

The thing that blew my mind about homosexuality was when it was explained to me that homosexuality being part of your ingrained personal identity was a more modern concept. I always heard people say "but in Ancient Greece and Rome it was perfectly acceptable, in the middle ages it was an identity thing." And then I did a class on Ancient Greek culture and found out that NO, homosexualtiy was NOT normalised in Ancient Greek culture, and that worse, this was a point that angered Greek people because of the bastardisation of their culture for someone else's political agenda. For the longest time it wasn't considered part of ones ingrained identity, but an act or action one engaged in, and some may have personal preference for. Same with p*dophiles- we don't treat minor attracted people as normal. We treat their attractions as a separable action. There are a lot of s*xual cases where we as people choose when to accept it as ok and part of unchangeable personal identity, and when we don't like it and decide to define it as an action separate from the inner person. That's part of why I love God's consistency through the ages: because he doesn't change to our personal whims and desires. This, and the Lord, are what helped me overcome. The burning of my heart for Christ was stronger than my sin when I let in the Holy Spirit, and it broke those chains. I thought "maybe I'll just believe in God and never get married," but no. God saved me. He took my trials and difficulties and helped me break free. Of course there are still a lot of sins and trials in my life, but God is more powerful.
For non-believers, this topic probably isn't for you. We as believers understand you don't follow our ways, and don't have reason to ask you to follow the laws of something you don't believe in. But for other believers, we must keep each other accountable.

9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor those habitually drunk, nor verbal abusers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.

On this first one, to be fair, when I moved to Appleton Wisconsin many years ago, one of the first things I did was find a gay friendly Church. I attended there for quite a while. I really enjoyed the people. But at some point, I started noticing that they would accept anything BUT Jesus. I couldn't help but to ask myself why. This question was the very first tugged thread which eventually unraveled my misconceptions about God. Long story short, I ended up coming to Jesus in a big way. At this point, I have left the lesbian lifestyle and been happily married to my husband for over 10 years. God can use any situation to bring us to himself.

He doesn't do anything that you are unwilling to allow in your heart. This misconception about immediate transformation is confusing because it's false. God is patient... We aren't and expect immediate answers and works or miracles and we expect them to be exactly as we think they should be. We tout immediate/ miracle transformation because we think that glorifies God. This too is our own misguided understanding of his glory.
If you receive a dog and it took 5 seconds to train him so he understands every command and does everything perfect... Does it glorify you when he sits or rolls over on command or does it make people want / envy your dog?
He can train you instantly, but it's better for you if he doesn't because you will be glorified and this is actually not helpful for you... Though it might be desired by your mind it is your heart and mind that he judges.

As a recovering alcoholic (who’s never shown up to church drunk btw, but has hungover in the past without making it obvious) many churches and Christians don’t want to hear about addictions or the mental health issues associated with addictions. Anything not positive messes with their image. I’ve been told things like I need an exorcist for anxiety disorder, and to just have more faith in general so it all goes away.
While I don’t agree with everything she’s saying, more Christians and more churches need to be real. Not in a way of “love you as you are don’t improve” but in a way of “be honest and we will still love you and walk with you through this.”
I’m blessed to have found a Bible-preaching, God-fearing church where the congregation - from the pastor to the newest member - are real about what’s going on in our lives. It’s changed my life and my walk with God.

I get what you're saying. I've decided, that within my congregation, I'm going to set an example in being real. I openly admit to my own shortcomings and ask questions of others encouraging them to admit to theirs. Once they've opened up a bit, I try to make them feel comfortable in sharing, and then turn the conversation right back to the Lord's mercy. I might say something like, "Well, we can both praise God for his Mercy. After all, that's why we're here." I think people just need that reminder sometimes... Particularly those who grew up in church culture.

As Jesus taught, you know a tree by its fruit. If you go to a church and the message you hear is one of desired appearance and hiding your blemishes, there’s a good chance that everyone in that building is putting on a religious face and hiding their pet sins. This would be a spiritually dead church, white washed tomb, maybe there is genuine belief maybe there is not. On the other hand brother or sister, you find a real church built on preaching the true gospel of deadness in sin and need for repentance and what a glorious work God does in those bodies of believers to transform sinners. I’m happy for you and praise God for providing us local churches with genuine believers and pastors.

@@Yo-0o0o0o0o Yes. The Bible often speaks of how women (and men) are to dress modestly. Don't encourage lust by revealing oneself, Don't desire to be listed after by revealing oneself. We are royalty through Our Heavenly Father adopted into the family through the blood of Christ and we have royal robes of dignity. Since when are queens and princesses valued more for showing more skin to anyone that will look?
Yes the Bible (and Jesus) also say that if looking at a person inspires you to sin, you should look away and get control of yourself. It also says that it's better to cut your own hand off than to make someone else stumble.
Treat oneself with respect and dignity. Treat others with respect and dignity. Just because the laws of the land allow me to be naked - does that make it good in God's eyes? The Bible says no.

I would love some prayers for one of my new coworkers.
She just started 1 week ago, and we've been getting along pretty well. We were walking and chatting after work today, and she said she's bi/gay, and that she's interested in religion as an intellectual concept but not as a belief system. I asked her what makes her agnostic, and she said church trauma, how when she was growing up she was like yelled at across the street by Christians saying she's gonna go to hell because she's gay. I don't know how real that is since I wasn't there, but my response was that I'm sorry she was mistreated, and that as a Christian I do believe that being gay is a sin, but that it's not the end-all-be-all of faith. The most important part is accepting God's offer of a relationship with him, that her being gay isn't some nail in the coffin, and that I think the purpose of religion is whether it's true or not, not how people who follow it treat people. Look at the message, not the messenger. And how I'm not one to judge her for anything, since I have my own issues. She seemed to be relatively accepting of my perspective, and we left it at that.
I'm praying - and hoping to get some prayers - that I can be a light to her to hopefully break the "church trauma" of past negative experiences with church people, and to be able to separate it from whether it's true or not and hopefully come to accept God's offer of life and a relationship with her creator. Thank you for your help.

If you think it is about abstaining from sin or working your way to be some undefined “better” person, you are likely unsaved.
Instead, the narrow path is Jesus-the Way, the Truth, and the Life. This verse has nothing to do with how you live. It’s not about the sinner, it’s about the Savior.

If you do not want these beliefs you have a freedom not to be part of a fellowship. The apostle Paul took people out of fellowships who came with their own beliefs. He was so drastic about this he would go to places where no one else had build a foundation, so that through his foundation (Gospel) people could build on top of it. No other foundation can be put.

This following the commandment of Christ that to clothe those in need is to clothe Him -Mathew 25:34 - 40. This idea that the word of God should "evolve" with society, runs exactly parallel with the idea that we have evolved as human beings. This is where the concept of evolution and the beleif that we are descended from the animal Kingdom, contaminates the idea that we are made in the image of God. His image never changes, but humans beleive we are ever-changing. This perfectly illustrates how the explanations of evolution and creation are in perfect contradiction to one another.

Out of that love for God comes an overflow of love, Godly love, for others. When we put the love of others above our love for God, it creates a false type of love for others that never brings them into what God has for them. It creates compromise against what God’s Word says and, as said in the video, leads to spiritual death.

Craig Groeschel (who I dont agree with on everything, but do on this) told a story of when he was young and started working in ministry. Someone arrived at church who was new. She was stopped before she entered by a man who told her “Young lady, is that the best outfit you have? Because in our church, we wear our best for God.” The woman left before she entered the church and likely never came back. Sadly probably had a hard time trying another church too, if she ever did.
The woman in this video went a bit extreme with her example, but there are too many people who care more about how someone looks and how their church looks than about about the actual person. This seems to happen less than it did in years past (in many areas at least) but it still happens too often, especially with women. I’ve had to check my own heart about it, too.

The reason I stopped going to a building for "church" wasn't because it wasn't liberal enough. I'm a conservative Christian, former elder in two churches, taught Sunday School, involved in dozens of ministries, volunteered for numerous things, was once on paid staff as youth director. I love Jesus, at least as much as one crippled by ugly, self-inflicted sin can.
It was because church after church was becoming led by sociopaths and narrcissists who only cared about their power and control.
It was because people took the word "pastor," which shows up once in the singular in the entire Bible, 4th in a list of 5 gifts useful for the Church (note, not a title, just a gift) and turned it into a CEO/ruler position that one must be "covered" by, that one must "come under the authority" of. That's a position that does NOT exist in the New Testament. It's a level of authority that the Apostle Paul (who gave up everything, was imprisoned, stoned and even killed for the Church) never came close to claiming. Yet, some punk in tight jeans who would likely run screaming at the first sign of persecution or paunchy, middle-aged mediocrity who never got a speck of dirt under his nails, would stand up there every Sunday and demand your attention and insist that you pay his way and put him in comfort. And there was Paul, working blue collar labor to be a burden to no one, not demanding subservience like these frauds, but beseeching people to follow his example.
I just got sick of the pampered frauds and their lazy followers who'd torn on you like flying monkeys if you raised an honest question.

Jesus didn't say that "loving people" was THE most important thing. He said loving God is #1, and to love your neighbor. See if you love God first, you'll love His teachings first, which means when you love "people", you'll love the soul but not confuse love with acceptance of behavior and activity that God does not like. That is why you must love God first, so you can love with God's love, when you love your neighbor. That means loving every single person with God's love. That means loving people you don't like, with God's love. It means treating those you disagree with, in a kind way. It doesn't mean that you accept sin or celebrate things that are not of God. You can love and should love sinners. We're ALL sinners.

It took around 3 months for my best friend to convince me to go to church with him. And when I went, I bawled my eyes out. But that freedom to let out my emotions; that was what I chased for the next month, and rapidly over the past four years, I have gone from loathing God to pursuing God. It has made me so much happier, so much more joyful. So I just pray that the people who get up and go to church for all the wrong reasons can have their eyes opened like mine were, and really pursue God for the right reasons. I still have a lot of ways that I need to grow, but I’m a lot better than I used to be. And it’s through His word, His power that I am the man I am today.

My issue with the church I am going to is the detachment of people coupled with a constant message of "obey the church" with a aide of "you're bad." I arrived at the church after having a deep loss through a trafic accident. I was promised aid as I moved to my new place that never came. And whemever I go to church, I sit by myself and hear the same type of message. If Jesus' love and compassion is referenced 5% of the times, its enough. And while was healing, the pastors dropped a person from church I barely knew that was homeless for me to host them. After that, I barely had money saved because I had to spend on this person.
Loads of issues there but, I am looking for a new church. I dont mind preaching the realities of The Word. But everytime I go there, I feel like I am preparing for a boxing match.

The ferrari example is also like
"You bought a ferarri to go fast. You go 20 over the speed limit and get a ticket. You get angry at the cop for giving you a ticket.
You go 100 over the limit on the highway and get into a crash, and yet you get angry at the person you killed in the crash. Because they had the gall to be going the speed limit and honked to get you to slow down."

    On March 26th 2022,
    just past midnight,
    I was restless in bed,
my limbs became numb & tingly,
    my chest became tight,
& my heart felt like it was being crushed.
So I sang out to God and Jesus,
    about my pain, my feelings,
    my faults and my inabilities.

As I sang, I began to feel like a river,
& a hand was on my back,
it's fingers where skimming the surface of the waters,
    separating the waters,
    causing ripples through my body.
Then the hand reached inside my chest,
    lit my heart on fire,
& the heat moved like waves through my body.
    When I was done singing,
    all the pain was gone,
& I looked at the clock,
    it was past 1am,
I had sang near an hour.

Then the voice of my guardian angel called my name from above,
& there was a hymn of energy in the air,
the same hymn I hear in my dreams of God.
Glory, Honor, blessings, thanks and praise to the Lord my God,
for healing my heart during a heart attack!
Hallelujah to the Lord my God for healing my heart!
Hallelujah for His son Jesus for saving my soul!
    Hallelujah for every day!
    Hallelujah for every breath!
The Lord is Faithful and true!
The kingdom of Heaven is at hand!
May the Lord Bless your hearts,
so that you have the will and strength to turn from selfish sins,
and flee from the slaveries of the flesh!

What these tiktokers are sayinng isn't a misunderstanding, rather it is a spiritual problem. Jesus stated that the Word of God is like a sword that cuts. They are going to church and the Word of God is cutting into their heart and mind, yet, they reject the Holy Spirit is helping them see the light. They choose to be in darkness, instead of allowing the light to change them for good.

Thank you so much Nate, while these people's words pained me greatly, your words brought me peace. We must stand strong for Jesus and keep God's word and hide it in our hearts to reflect on . I am so blessed to be a member of a church that stays true to the word of God and has for all this time. I have been a member since Feb. of 1997 and my husband and I were married in the church in Dec. of 1997.
While we have had some different Pastors in our church, they have always kept to the Word of God and have never wavered.

The asian lady just doesn't understand what the church is, she is talking about us changing to get more followers like it is a recruitment drive for a club. That is what we would do if all we cared about is numbers but we care about making followers of Gods word not just pumping numbers up.

We starting looking for a family friendly church for him, one which would let him wear his ear defenders and allow him to explore his relationship with Jesus. Now we are members of a vineyard church. He loves it. Me and my 9yr old got baptised together in February. We have a lovely church family. His dad has started praying again agter years. My son brought us back to church.

These people just want to feel comfortable in their sin. God isn't changing His word for anyone. He's the same yesterday, today, and forever more. You either follow God's word or you don't. One comes with rewards, and the other comes with consequences. It's your choice.

I'm sorry Nate, but at the 9:29 minute mark the statement that "Loving your neighbor as yourself" as what Jesus taught as what "sums up absolutely everything" is absolutely WRONG! When asked what the GREATEST commandment IS, Jesus replied, quoting Deuteronomy 6:4-9 Hear, O Israel; The Lord or God is one. You shall love the the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your might." Loving GOD sums up absolutely EVEYTHING. The SECOND half of his reply is: AND you shall love your neighbor as yourself. The world has left off the true message in its misguided belief that loving people fulfils the command, when in reality, serving man without obedience to God is explained clearly in Matthew 7:21-23. Not everyone who says to me "Lord, Lord", will enter the kingdom of heaven, BUT THE ONE WHO DOES THE WILL OF MY FATHER who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me "Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty WORKS in your name (fill in your earthly "love your neighbor" works here)? And then I will declare to them, "I NEVER KNEW you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.'

I immediately paused to type this same comment. To not mention loving God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength is to miss our purpose in life. To love others as ourselves is to fulfill the rest of the law and is our mission on earth. I know Nate preaches this. Not sure why he didn’t mention it.

    • @johnmachado8838

@@secondratefilms635 Exactly! And if I might take your reply one step further, to " Love others as ourselves" means pointing them to the Father, through the Son, by the Spirit. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with US accepting them here on earth. We and our opinions of others do not count.

@@avidaddison985 Good afternoon. I'm not sure to whom you're referring, but none of my comments and replies have any intent to criticize or shame anyone. In fact, it's quite the opposite. As Nate himself often quotes, "All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good works - 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (ESV)"
As born again, Bible believing followers of Yeshua, it is our responsibility to encourage, and yes, CORRECT, each other as we learn, grow, and walk.
You will find many times throughout scripture when Yeshua corrected his followers, and tauhgt them to do the same.
True love in Messiah is not encouraging incorrect theology, but as "iron sharpens iron", challenging each other to "study to show yourself approved, a workman that needeth NOT to be ashamed, RIGHTLY dividing the word of Truth.
      Have a blessed day.❤️

She sounds like I did before I encountered Jesus. I was into most of the new age ideologies. The last thing I said to God before I walked into Calvary was, “don’t think about turning me into a Jesus freak”
I walked into that church, the Holy Spirit grabbed a hold of me and I came to Christ a few weeks later.
Now I talk about Jesus to everyone and I wouldn’t have it any other way. When you meet the Lord there is NO DENYING how real and how alive He truly is. He will change your life but you have to let him. Be guided by the spirit and READ THE BIBLE. It’s His words. Everything happening in the world is all written down in there and so is the escape plan! 🙌🏻 ✝️🙌🏻
