every year without fail for a month i really like turkish folk music then stop listening the the next year go "OH THIS IS GREAT" this years has started
This may be my favorite rendition of this piece. My mom loves this piece and at times I've seen a few interpretations that I wasn't a fan of. There's one in the video game Civ 6 which is more orchestral but I find it "overproduced", but at least it has the merit to be there. Then there's the riff from the song Rasputin that I just heard again at a new year's party... But in this version in this video I love the extended musical part and the whole track structure, it feels like a prog rock jam progression and really adds build-up and intensity musically. I feel like it's much more immersive for the piece and the "feeling" behind the music or lyrics. Happy to have found this.
just like any other folk song, i doubt it was this elaborate of an arrangement 1300 years ago. it's evolved by being interpreted by many musicians. I could be wrong, perhaps they have transcriptions from back then, but i doubt it.
Thanks for such a qualified interpretation!:) the pronounciation of words is indeed very good and correct, it is also really touching to see foreigners being interested in eastern instruments and using them.^^
I fall in the love of this song already!!!... Almost all my life in my mind a song I heard when I was young ( 1998:2002 ) in Lebanese tv maybe in a show...and I found it by luck from some months... But this was the perfect performance I heard... Thanks to all contributers...maybe you will make me learn Turkish soon... Thanks from Egypt! ❤
Mr. Hines you got a proper greek accent when you sing in Turkish :)) This one reminds me old records by greeks who used to live in Istanbul in early 20's 👏👏👏
Thanks..my pronunciation of a few words was a little off on that cut and anyone who knows the language can tell. And thanks for your comment about the old sound, I appreciate what you say.
:) It is very traditional song. Almost every Turkish people know this. I have never listen this version before. Also there is a little bit merge with another song which name is “Azize” between 03:08-03:54 (You can listen this part for full version from Nesrin Sipahi)
You are correct about Azize! My good friend Taner Okatan loved playing it on the baglama. And then it made its way into our 1996 recording of Uskudar. That was almost 30 years ago!!
A good performing. What is the main instrument in this song ? Is it a bağlama with a special chord or any other ? Does the music which playing in the middle of song , have a name ?

It was this Turkish folk song from which was made the well known Nazrul song ‘shukno patar nupur paye’.

Thank you! Baglama, kanun, keman, ud ve darbuka. I think the tune quoted in the middle is called Aziza.
Very nice. What is the name of the album?

Search for documentary "Who is this song". Every Balkan country claims song is from their country.
The same happens to Indonesian & Malaysian folk songs, they lay a claim at a time when both countries do not exist yet😊
