Thank you for featuring not only this game, but also the non-Pokemon conterpart and briefly Pokemon Duel! I played all these games in 2017 and you definitely unerthed my nostalgia! I am glad we can actually put more focus on good mobile games because not only do they exist, but are so so overshadowed by the hungry giants! I am still nostalgic for mobile games from 2015 before the microtransaction boom and I am stupid sad I can't find them anymore!
This game is very simple, yet the low stakes give it a very zen and calming atmosphere that gives players a chance to unwind and relax. While most mobile games push aggressively push and are built around microtransactions this game is actually pretty ethical about it. There's no button for thr store on the main screen and you have to click through a few menus to even get to it.
I remember I was so happy when getting rewards on special event, until this one event that it's either I get a reward or Pidgeotto will get it. My jaw drop to the floor when Pidgeotto catch my Magikarp.
I love magikarp jump! I still have my original save and occasionally pick it back up. I’ve caught so many shinies in it that I get disappointed they’re shinies instead of a rare pattern. 😂 I finished all the battles a long time ago but still go through phases of playing it a ton to try to complete my pattern dex. It’s a great mobile game for sure!
This came out when I was in college, and frankly I spent an absurd amount of time playing it. I don't think it could be anything bigger like Im not exactly sure if I should ask for a console version or a sequel, but I think if anything else comes out of it then that would be great (didn't know the there was an anime episode with it, that's nice).
