I 100% this game and did it over an entire summer completely F2P. I don't know why other than this game was stupidly addictive.
Yeah, definitely is the king of game that works for that!
You're probably one,of the few, people who 100% this masterpiece. Kudos
@@WardofSquidreally isn’t that hard tbh
@@phoenixwhiler943 If you have the motivation and time (or pay money) to. Not everyone has that. I reached a point where I completed the Dexes but couldn't keep grinding coins and diamonds for the pond booster, decorations, and friendship items.
@@WardofSquid took me a while but it’s definitely doable, I was addicted to it but once I beat it I trashed it
I remember getting a shiny Magikarp once, they got snatched away by that damned bird. 6 year old me was crying.
I will say, I really appreciated the attention to detail with shinies in the game, as the Corsola and Luvdisc could be shiny, and the shiny golden Magikarp would even be red if it accidentally evolved.
As a meme game, it was quite enjoyable xD
Apparently Feebas can be Shiny too, but you get way less encounters with it, and I've personally never seen it.
I still miss Pokémon Duel. That game was fun as all hell.
Really wish I would’ve played it a lot more before it shut down 😔
@@GatorEX same
Same 😢
Me too
Same I wanted to see more of the story
Thank you for featuring not only this game, but also the non-Pokemon conterpart and briefly Pokemon Duel!
I played all these games in 2017 and you definitely unerthed my nostalgia! I am glad we can actually put more focus on good mobile games because not only do they exist, but are so so overshadowed by the hungry giants! I am still nostalgic for mobile games from 2015 before the microtransaction boom and I am stupid sad I can't find them anymore!
YES THE FUNNI FISH GAME
FUNNI FISH GAME 🐠
This game was the “oh right this exist” on the road trip and then proceed to grind it out for hours
This game is very simple, yet the low stakes give it a very zen and calming atmosphere that gives players a chance to unwind and relax. While most mobile games push aggressively push and are built around microtransactions this game is actually pretty ethical about it. There's no button for thr store on the main screen and you have to click through a few menus to even get to it.
This came out when I was in college, and frankly I spent an absurd amount of time playing it. I had unlocked every single pattern and every single death (including Dratini) and played through the entirety of the jump league that was available at that point haha. It was a fun time.
It’s funny you mentioned Surprise Mola Mola because I also spent an absurd amount of time playing that game too 😂
I played this game quite a bit ago and enjoyed it! It has a lot of charm and it is very addicting. I don't think it could be anything bigger like Im not exactly sure if I should ask for a console version or a sequel, but I think if anything else comes out of it then that would be great (didn't know the there was an anime episode with it, that's nice).
Also I like the protag they created for the game. One of those protags you can't tell the gender of and they kinda stand out with their design doing good for that aspect in that you couldn't really tell just from their design, it's actually kinda charming.
Finally... This is one of the only free mobile games I spent money on XD. I am not proud of it, but I guess it is one of the better ones, so... Ehhh. It did have this weird diamond system where if you pay more you get more, and I can see how that makes things more tempting to buy more, but it does also feel like we 'have' to pay a certain amount to really get the most out of the game, so.... I am just unsure I admit on that aspect I admit.
This game was fun! I forgot why I stopped playing but it was such a wholesome game. I loved all the different types of Magikarp. It was kind of nice to see one of the most useless pokemon get some love.
Edit: Really glad the game is still up the title mislead me a bit
I really hope we'll have another chance to see again the many magikarp patterns, they really made this game fun
I literally just redownloaded it last night! I never got far enough in to see all of the events and patterns, so learning that they actually change colors, other than the shiny, is completely new to me and now I HAVE to get them
i was obsessed with Magikarp Jump in high school ...... when i had to get a new phone though something went wonky with the backup and it lost half my data :[ i gave up after that. but i had the game 100%'ed by then, unlocked everything and won all the tournaments.
I used to love this game and then forgot about it until now
They put Magikarp jump in the Pokémon anime once it was really funny because I played the game once.
I was really hooked to this years ago. I also found the shiny magikarp. But I deleted it when a pidgey ate it😭
fun fact: if you evolve a shiny magikarp the gyrados will be shiny as well
I slowly chipped away at this game over 4 years and I have a lot of good memories of it
Man, I miss this game. It really was just a nice, feel-good game with no pressure or money gouging. I was so sad when I beat the game, because then there was nothing to do anymore, and I eventually juat got bored and uninstalled it after doing everything and unlocking everything.
I Love this game. Just the right mix of mindless time waster and actual progression. Completely beatable without spending a cent on it.
bro, i played this so much when i was younger
good times
Now you made me want to play this game.
Apparently the evolution event is a one per game experience and it happened on my shiny
If Goh's Magikarp dropping its weights is a reference to Rock Lee doing that same 5hing in Naruto that's hilarious because I didn't follow journeys much. Amazing vid
I could be wrong, but I think Dragon Ball was the first one who did that concept.
My wife loved this game and kept demanding that it be put on the Switch.
It was one of the few casual phone games that she genuinely enjoyed, but didn't feel like she was wasting her life playing.
Right up there with Neko Atsume for her.
I had this game, and I barely saved my save data to the cloud. It was close
This is the greatest Pokémon game about the best Pokémon
I usually don't care about games like this. The reason I ended up playing it so much is because I had to cover lunches for the front desk at my work. That is, if one of our sims didn't decide to catch fire. This game being so casual and easy to not pay full attention to made it perfect for hiding behind the counter of the front desk. That, plus the fact it's a magikarp game, made me play the hell out of this game. It was a great way to kill an hour everyday.
Any chance you can speak on the silence on the Pokemon Home update? great content as per, GatorEX
i got a shiny on my 4th generation on a account i started a while after quitting my first, did have much of any progress on that first acc.
this game was so fun I even wish I can have all the patern magikarp transfer to my pokemon bank or home
I download it once every couple months.
I remember playing this at one point!
The loop of feeding and then doing special events reminds me of this weird game I used to play, I think it was called Mola Mola or something, a poorly translated Japanese(?) game based off of raising sunfish
What happened was they required a Nintendo account to transfer my save not my Google play so I lost my stuff...was around half way through the available tourneys too
I miss pokemon duel😢
I played this game for about a month straight when it came out. Couldn't explain what it was I liked about it but I did. I remember the first time my magikark got eaten by a pidgeotto and was just sat there in shock for a good 2 minutes. I had to tell my buds about it. So weird for them to just kill you buddy right in front of you lol
I still play this game, it's really fun!
I'm still playing the game I love it
Magikarp Jump is the best game.
I remember playing this game, was cool v:
I still play this game, and befriended a guy who does too IRL. We're competing to see who can maintain a high level of progress over the other.
i still play this game now lol
This game is FIRE, I just started it after three or four years away and am determined to 100% it f2p
I always wanted to play this game but it has never been avalible in my region
I want a magikarp jump 2.
My shiny magikarp got eaten by a pidgeotto and I quit :/
Well, I definitely have to try this game out ! I kinda forgot it existed but I remember it being the big deal when I was younger and it got announced, even if it was for the memes, BUT, if there is something I love about this game, its the various forms, as Pokémon always struggled to make pokémon uniques, plus, it wouldn't be the first time a pokémon as a lot of various forms, look at Vivillon, or the Alcremie ! And I guess, to an extent, unknown lol
I lost my account after getting the diamond miner so I gave up I really miss and still love this game.. :(
I love this game! I went and tried to speedrun this game for awhile
I played this game years ago damn !
However I was actually more interested in the game made by the same team which was a hunting and cooking app game
Same mechs as all their other games but with even more to it.
I've fished up two shinies, one on my 10th and 13th generation. I'm currently on my 16th or so, as I've recently picked the game up from the start just for old times sake. Can anyone confirm if the shiny rates are higher? Or if I'm just stupidly lucky to get 2 shinies in 13 pulls?
Being one of if not THE top player on the world, this game was fucking awesome. I was on it 24/7 for months 😂😂
I evolved the shiny magikarp when i got it to see the Red gyarados
I love this game
what episode was the magicarp episode? :D
Sorry! I normally add text for the episode number, but forgot to in this video.
It’s Episode 26 of Journeys!
thanks!! :D
It was so cute! I loved this game😭💘
Pokemon Shuffle next please
On the list! 😎
What's next pokemon puzzle league
Random note, I’m still so heartbroken that Pokémon Duel got canned. That game was absolute fire and, unlike many other competitive mobile games, not all that pay-to-win
Still got screenshots and memories of that, much better game than masters ex, unfortunately duel probably died for that game
@@dragonmaster3030 Tbh, that makes me torn. Love masters for some of the outfit designs and the expanded lore for characters we wont see in a mainline game for a while. On the other hand, Duel is such a better game on the gameplay side than Masters. Shame we could only have one...
@@the_godbodor7026 I prefer gameplay and to be honest, masters doesn't really have that, also all things considered I was kinda invested into duels original characters like Sharon, another thing to note is duels music, time to time I still hear the menu theme in the back of my head. I remember using gabite on most my teams, really interesting what that thing could do, just wish it didnt take till final update for mega chomp to release
@Dragon Master Fair fair. And either way, Duel was dealt such a dirty hand being taken down so quickly. Imagine this game still being supported today, there would definitely be a tournament scene around the game (especially if one formed around GO’s basic battle system).
@@the_godbodor7026 didn't duel already have a small tournament scene, I remember their being some sort of exclusive figures given to high placements during event times though maybe thats something else
As a game designer, this was a very curious experience. It’s basically a simple idle/"clicker" game (think Cookie Clicker, with all the purchasable boosters, and the idle elements being food because it can accumulate even when the game is offline, and training because these have long recharges) in all aspects, but they went all in on the Magikarp theming and it resulted in a very fun experience overall as a result. I remember spending an irresponsible amount of time on this during my university days…
Generally the enjoyment of idle games like these is derived from seeing the variety among the repetition. And Magikarp Jump was pretty fun at this. Apart from the aforementioned pattern variety (and they had a Dex for those), there were numerous silly Magikarp themed events which could boost, retire or kill your Magikarp in silly ways, and numerous absurd training minigames you can buy which involve your Magikarp performing ridiculous exercises
The designers really put their hearts into the sheer number of silly Magikarp shenanigans, and that made the game fun despite its simplicity.
In a current mobile market full of microtransactions and live service games constantly demanding attention, it’s kinda nice to see Magikarp Jump just… casually exist on the App Store, no update or anything required. And I hope it continues to stay around as a cute experience
personally im hoping that someday these magikarp variants get implemented into the main games somehow. a real alcremie moment for magikarps.
I guess it's just like a magikarp "they can survive in the harshest of ponds" or something like that lol
Honestly, I never thought tapping random berries in the water was going to get me so addicted, but Majokarp jump ended being basically my entire life for 2 months straight 😅
?
it’s not really an idle game, are you sure you’re a game designer ?
I wish more Pokemon games delve into the pet raising aspect of it. Like make a standalone game all about Pokemon contests and you have to raise your Pokemon how a Pokemon Coordinator would by taking care of its fur, feeding it and just making the Pokemon happy.
I played this all the way up to 2020, and I think one of the coolest things that ever happened for me was seeing one of the background Luvdisc be shiny
I wish the different Magikarp patterns had made it to the main games. Some of them are really pretty.
i had 9 shinies after my first run and became the magichamp but none of the cool blue or gray ones
Recording footage for the game got me hooked again and I really want a Blue Magikarp now 😳
i hope this game gets to stick around a good long time. i don’t want this sweet little overblown joke to get wiped out by planned obsolescence just yet.
I used to love this game! Definitely gotta re-download it
I love magikarp jump! I still have my original save and occasionally pick it back up. I’ve caught so many shinies in it that I get disappointed they’re shinies instead of a rare pattern. 😂 I finished all the battles a long time ago but still go through phases of playing it a ton to try to complete my pattern dex. It’s a great mobile game for sure!
Yeah! "Can you just give me another Skelly or something!? Seriously, I have over 15 Golds, I don't need more!" - Me when I played this game.
Crazy to think that, af all Pokémon mobile games, Magikarp Jump overlived Pokémon Duel, which was also a phenomenal game with potential to be even better. Man those days were good...
I hated this game, not because it was 'bad' but because restarting took way to long.
I love the fact that you can see the previous generation magikarps in the background. It's such a nice little detail
Man, hearing Magikarp Jump and Pokemon Duel brings back fond memories. I miss my younger days.
I would love to see the magikarp patterns, partly because it would be funny to see it in the top traded pokemon on HOME
holy shit I played this all summer and I totally forgot
It's like a hidden gem of a game and I feel sort of happy that many of the mainstream folks don't know about it, It almost feels like an esoteric piece of art out there.
I remember I was so happy when getting rewards on special event, until this one event that it's either I get a reward or Pidgeotto will get it. My jaw drop to the floor when Pidgeotto catch my Magikarp.
OMG I'm so glad you got to cover this
Was high up on the priority list! Had to talk about my friend, Magikarp.
I'm definitely going to download this game but I wasn't expecting to see you survive mola mola cuz I play The Battle cats and that game collabs with the Battle cats pretty much every single year
I really like the game. I played it a lot back when it came out xD
The game is so funny ^^
I've completed all the leagues and have the pattern dex full.
But sadly I still miss the Dratini event, beside that I'm pretty much 100% complete xD
What I also liked about the game, it's free and you can spend money on it, but it doesn't annoy you by begging for money all the time xD
Wow, I havent played this game for a while. I really loved it while the hype lasted, considered replaying it sometime but for now i think Magikarp Jump is incredibly addictive
Space fighter magikarp
Forgot this was a game honestly
Why do all mobile Pokémon games just have the universal ability of dying?
It had a good run. Played for a bit in the past. Wish it had more a gameplay.
i Loved this game so much but man it got nothin goin on after the first league
Magikarp Jump is great *because* it doesn't have all the bullshit other mobile games have. It's got a bit of grind, but I went F2P until the final stretch and then bought the diamond miner just because I loved the game so much. No loot boxes, no bullshit, just pure Magikarp.
I played the hell out of the both Magikarp jump and pokemon duel
I still play jump today, and I really miss duel..I was pretty good and had a jacked team (lunala, Mimikyu, haxsorus, groudon, darkrai,& shiny metagross) I still have a screenshot of a match where I managed simultaneously block both of my opponents entry points and knock out their pokemon on the board
I play this game since October, but it is sad because it doesnt have any update for more than a year.
I can't decide what is a bigger time waster that I loved! 😂 This or ZenKoi! Same thing, same time period.
3:12 pains me every time...
I like that they did that tho.
Wish there was a way to see all the gens. However, other than they randomly appear swimming in the background of our comically large pond... that might be connected to the sea.
Show me my 140+ babies dammit 😂
Fun fact: you can also find shiny luvdisc and corsola, I've found both hehe
This game was way better than it was meant to be.
I would have loved to have seen the entire pattern dex filled out.
Still got this on my phone. I truly wish they would incorporate the shiny variants into the mainline games. Those violet ones are 👌🏻
I never knew this was a thing, but after this video I looked it up and it’s still available! I’m on my 5th Generation rn, he’s a Gold Magikarp named Garden, and I’m loving it so far!
I especially love that they give you diamonds for EVERYTHING-I can’t spend even a dollar on games but playing totally free for just one day I have 347 diamonds and I’m getting ready to pick my first pond decoration.
Thanks so much for introducing me to this!
That game still feels like a fever dream that I can't tell if it happened or if we were all living in a simulation at the same time.
I remember my Shiny Magikarp getting blown up
I enjoyed playing that game
I remember playing this, I would play all night just to raise one Magikarp, also tried to download survive mola mola as well as reinstalling magikarp jump to see the differences but the app isn't available since it was made for older devices, ah well, I'll have fun training up Magikarp again
this game was always such a charming thing to play for a bit and see what happens. also interesting thing to note when you tap manaphy and the corsola and luvdisc show up there's a very small chance one of them will be a shiny corsola or luvdisc
