I think the reason Gyarados can't stay in the pond is because of Wishiwashi; I sometimes see what looks like a silhouette of a Wishiwashi school swim by and, according to what I've read on them, Wishiwashi schools terrify Gyarados. So perhaps the Gyarados stays with Mayor Karp not because the mayor is a thief but because it is too scared to reside in a pond with Wishiwashi in it!
Here's a tip for you: Just before your magikarp gets to max level, go to the league and play until you lose. Normally you'd have to wait 1.5 hours to try again, but if your magikarp hits max level it will cancel the timer no matter how much is left on it. This way you can get a few extra coins from the loss, get the last level and skipping the timer and netting a few extra coins as well as possibly getting a few events that need a loss to get.
There is another one secret. When you fish a new magikarp and you see one rod is diffent than 2 others, pick that rod and you will fish a ditto tranform into magikarp. You will receive a ditto cussion for that event
Because this was supposed to be about Magikarp battling through jumping so reasonable why not to keep those 2 but I would like to see them running around aquarium that’s for sure.

If you're already at level 100, the creepy girl doesn't increase your max rank. You'll get the message saying your max rank has gone up, but when you go back it will still show you as 100/100, and if you level up it will stay there.
In the 'Be Gone' one, it raises your max level of your Magikarp, even if you haven't hit the (former) max level yet. Also, you can do it multiple times, but only once per Magikarp.

I just found a cool trick in Balloon Blow. Try tapping the screen once after Magikarp jumps twice to hit the balloon inflater. It will give you a "Great Effort" result.

Whishiwashi are weak when they are alone and it just the team work that make them strong

The same Gyrados thing happened to me by accident. I had my first shiny magikarp, the stone broke, and it evolved into red gyrados
