Think that’s bad for Vegas? Back in 1989 there was a massive train wreck in San Bernardino, nothing major. Unbeknownst to everyone though, the train derailed right on the Calnev Pipeline (a petroleum pipeline from LA straight to new Vegas) It wasn’t turned off as rich snobs wanted it on for their luxury cars down in Vegas. It just simply kept operating, while being damaged, and during the derailment cleanup process, IGNITED AN ENTIRE FUCKING BLOCK OF HOUSES COSTING MILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN DAMAGE AND THE SAME SNOBS FROM VEGAS DID JACK SHIT TO HELP.
@@TheSuperappelflap my mistake it’s actually six. Four died in the derailment, two by the explosion, and four injured. Poperty damage in total was 14.3 million. Cause of the whole ordeal and Calnev’s poor negligence a lot of people left Duffy street and as of me typing this is one whole empty lot with much less housing.
@@pennsy6755 I recently learned about how common train accidents and derailments are in the US. I live in the Netherlands. Small country, most lines have a train every 5-10 minutes. We have had a total of 9 accidents involving trains since the start of this century. On the busiest train network in Europe that transports a few million people each day. Most of those involved level crossings all of which are converted, or being converted, to tunnels.

I did not expect your videos to evolve in such a direction. But may I just say: They are absolutely bloody brilliant. I have never witnessed such a transition of a content creator, but I love how your work as changed and evolved. Came for the memes and stayed for your criticism of our society
The worst for me in Vegas was outside the strip. We were there only 2 days from europe to pick up our camping car there and the city itself felt dystopian. We had to go pretty far outside to get the camping car and I have never seen such things.
In the Netherlands, in the city of The Hague, we have had an IMAX sphere theater since 1984. Its called the 'omniversum'. It was built next to a new museum. Total cost: 20 million in euro. The Las Vegas sphere cost more than 2 billion US Dollars and its already falling apart.
I remember I visited Vegas with high school friends and we went to the needle building. I have a fear of heights so I waited in the lobby while they went to the top. While waiting, some guy was being escorted out of the building while shouting “YALL ARE SLAVES, YALL ARE SHEEP!” He was so based.
And mass media likes to promote gambling. I say “Hell no.” The chances of you doubling your earnings because you bet your entire life savings are slim to NONE. It is not worth it. Don’t lose your money to a game rigged beyond belief.
What funnier about that sphere is that it show nature only on a screen, you can actually go to the woods or to a beach and enjoy actual nature. Instead you pay to see what is free but in cinematic way
Theres an IMAX sphere theater in a city near where I live, it was built in 1984, together with a museum, at a cost of 20 million dollars, and exclusively shows nature documentaries. It doesnt have ads on the outside. Ive been there a couple times, its fun to see documentaries on places I will probably never go. The idea itself of showing nature documentaries to "raise awareness" isnt bad, its just that Americans (sorry if you are one, my condolences) cant do anything the normal way. And IMAX sphere is a pretty neat concept, you do really feel immersed. I also enjoy nature, I love hiking, cycling, swimming in the sea or lakes, kayaking etc, in my own country. Its not one or the other.
@@TheSuperappelflap Europeans thinking that they are the only people in the world who can determine what is or isn't "normal" is even more ignorant and arrogant than Americans who say they live in "the greatest country on Earth." At least those Americans know that "normal" is culturally subjective. They just think America's idea of "normal" is superior to everyone else's idea of "normal."
Dude, my friend literally just asked me yesterday why is las vegas crap in my opinion and you came in clutch with his video. Thank you so much for having the trouble to explain why that was.
As a Mexican who is mistaken for a Japanese and speaks with an Arabic accent, I must say that the one time I traveled to Las Vegas I was surprised that I never had to speak English. And I don't like gambling so I spent my time visiting strip clubs. And no I don't have fentanyl.
I went to vegas once for a video game fan convention. I did no gambling. I did no drinking. 2/3 restaurants I wanted to go to were closed, and the other one ran out of steak. The ferris wheel was ok I guess. I will not be going to vegas again under any circumstances.
Been a Vegas resident for 3 years and what shocked me about Vegas is that it has these multi billion dollar casinos and hotels but it has a minimum wage of 9.25. And It has The second highest food cost in the nation. literally all of the roads are destroyed and never get fixed. Plus it has the highest rate of drunk drivers. So insurance is double. It has one of the highest housing costs, the worst rated education system and worst rated healthcare. Not to mention several parts of the city experience literal black outs where the street lights don’t even work. And is literally one of the hottest places on earth. DO NOT MOVE YEAR. currently saving up to leave asap.
German here. I think this video is spot an as it's in line with my personal experience. I visited the USA last year for the first time and I have to say I was shocked. I went to Honolulu and San Francisco. Some american guy told me that San Francisco is the best city in the country. Well, if that is the best city, then I don't want to know what the other cities are like. There were homeless people at every corner! Many of them were full of drugs and quite aggressive so that they have security personnel at the hotel entrances! As to Honolulu: I love the Hawaiian islands, the nature... But then again, it's unfortunately part of the USA, so: homeless people everywhere. I really don't get this. How can a country treat its people so badly? Then I realized that USA is indeed a totally different system than Europe. While not everything is perfect in Germany or Europe in general and there is a lot to criticize, people are treated like humans here.
I passed through Las Vegas once, and it was only to stop by MeowWolf area 15 as part of a family road trip. But to get to that, my family had to drive through the center of Las Vegas, and I swear my face was clenched the entire way, the flashing lights were just too bright, the air was suffocating (And I’m from Los Angeles so you know that’s bad) and I swear there was an advertisement every square meter. Everything felt fake, everything was fake, and I’m just glad we didn’t stay there overnight. Don’t want to have to go there again. (Btw, they are building a bullet train from Los Vegas to Los Angeles, and they put that project’s priority ahead of the bullet train connecting Los Angeles to San Francisco and Sacramento, which would be far more useful for literally every possible reason. But no, the city of Sin’s influence is far too great, and now we get to have a one way ticket to financial ruin. God bless Corporate Ove- *America.
I’m a Vegas native, the homeless were literally making $500 a day pan handling on the strip prior to the law, and they just lined the walk ways begging. Mind you they were making money like a stripper and covering the whole strip.
l don't think any words can describe how terryfying it must be to be unable to go back home to family because you got manipulated by money-grubbers while on a trip. The fact that this very result is part of a well-oiled machine is just that much more inhuman imho.
As a person who was born and raised in Vegas and lived here pretty much my whole life, this is accurate but only if you're a tourist, most people who actually live here almost NEVER go to the strip, its kinda just a place we put out of our minds and enjoy the lack of state income tax. Its a sad reality but there is quite literally nothing that can be done about this situation especially with Californians and influencers migrating here like a great flood took place lol. From a local, 10/10 vid lmao
My mom is a gambling addict. It’s really no joke. We went to Las Vegas for my 21st. I had an absolute blast, because well, I don’t gamble. Everything in Las Vegas is so cheap because they make their money back on gambling tenfold. They were getting really annoyed with me because I would do no gambling. I’d go get cheaper free drinks, go watch some shows, some street performances, and have a cigar. The little gambling I did was very cheap. I made $100 stretch two days. On the third day, I was standing next to my mom who was gambling and she was sweating from excitement. She turned me and said give me $100. She had an animalistic look in her eye and I gave her the hundred dollars and she lost it and just said she would give me another hundred later. $100 gone in an instant that I used to go see three shows get drunk and have a good time.
I remember going to Vegas and the best part was the home cooked rice meal a relative made for dinner, it was genuinely really great and i liked listening to all their stories from when they were young and not living in Nevada.

Back in 1989 there was a massive train wreck in San Bernardino, nothing major.
Unbeknownst to everyone though, the train derailed right on the Calnev Pipeline (a petroleum pipeline from LA straight to new Vegas)
It wasn’t turned off as rich snobs wanted it on for their luxury cars down in Vegas.
Let me guess. Many people died and nobody went to jail.
@@TheSuperappelflap only 10 but it did cost like 30 million in damage
@@pennsy6755 only 10 people died or only 10 went to jail?
Truly is a Las Vegas moment indeed
The Vegas moment of all time
do you think there are many missing people cold cases where the person went to vegas without telling anyone, lost all their money and are just homeless somewhere outside or underneath the city
Well what do you think all the bodies they find in lake mead are?
yes
I discovered your channel by UA-cam's algorithm in your rather early days. I subscribed because of your sense of humour, as I found it rather silly and amusing (which I liked very much)
Your videos nowadays are so much more serious and educational.
Don’t know where you went but should have got some mariscos on nellis.

In the Netherlands, in the city of The Hague, we have had an IMAX sphere theater since 1984. Its called the 'omniversum'. It was built next to a new museum. Total cost: 20 million in euro.
The Las Vegas sphere cost more than 2 billion US Dollars and its already falling apart.
sphere moment
I went to Vegas and you ain't wrong
Have you lived in Vegas? Tourism is VASTLY different than being a resident
@@daneboldt7753 I live in London bro I ain't ever lived outside England, India or Singapore but I can only Imagine how bad being a resident is
I remember I visited Vegas with high school friends and we went to the needle building. I have a fear of heights so I waited in the lobby while they went to the top. While waiting, some guy was being escorted out of the building while shouting “YALL ARE SLAVES, YALL ARE SHEEP!” He was so based.
If you ever feel unless, remember 41 Million people visit vegas every year. Just to come back completely broke.
And mass media likes to promote gambling. I say “Hell no.” The chances of you doubling your earnings because you bet your entire life savings are slim to NONE. It is not worth it. Don’t lose your money to a game rigged beyond belief.
If they can even come back at all, like that adult star lady.
Humans are so shallow and hopeless
not all of them gamble
@@Abcdefg-tf7cu yeah no this video is right, thst sphere is some dubai level abnormal shit and if you disagree youre probably american

Dude, my friend literally just asked me yesterday why is las vegas crap in my opinion and you came in clutch with his video. Thank you so much for having the trouble to explain why that was.
The strip is shit rest of the city is fine
As a Mexican who is mistaken for a Japanese and speaks with an Arabic accent, I must say that the one time I traveled to Las Vegas I was surprised that I never had to speak English.
And I don't like gambling so I spent my time visiting strip clubs. And no I don't have fentanyl.
Why would you be surprised? It’s a city with a Spanish name, established by the Spanish, in former Mexican territory, with a huge Mexican population.

I went to vegas once for a video game fan convention. I did no gambling. I did no drinking. 2/3 restaurants I wanted to go to were closed, and the other one ran out of steak. The ferris wheel was ok I guess. I will not be going to vegas again under any circumstances.
Vegas is fine. Just don’t go to the strip
You should make a video about Estonia. Fun fact: Estonia's day of independence is in 4 days.
I agree, Estonia beats Vegas 100-0.
isn't Estonia just like a more depressed version of Finland?
@@tetch3202 Well yes, but actually no.

We need a documentary on the "British" Museum.
"Do you want to see fake french people" my brother in Christ, I don't even want to see real french people.
Finally a Geopold vid on my hometown!
Wow, he really hates the sphere!
As a Vegas local, thank you for the time and effort for this
German here.
Las Vegas is so weird.
It feels like this city isn't even real. And it's so crowded.
I thought I was the only one.
Maybe youre fake
I’m a Vegas native, the homeless were literally making $500 a day pan handling on the strip prior to the law, and they just lined the walk ways begging. Mind you they were making money like a stripper and covering the whole strip.
I used to live in Las Vegas and grew up there. Can confirm all of this.

As a person whose city suffers from droughts I can admit I hate desert cities that divert water to waste it all up, starting with Vegas.
It’s a real fucking shame too because most of Nevada’s water goes to California and other states before it goes to Nevada
Shockingly, Vegas is one of the most water efficient cities in the country.
l don't think any words can describe how terryfying it must be to be unable to go back home to family because you got manipulated by money-grubbers while on a trip. The fact that this very result is part of a well-oiled machine is just that much more inhuman imho.
This is easily one of your best videos yet
Vegas is an IRL Cruelty Squad zone, and I make sure to visit at least once every two years.
In an apocalypse story, the orb would probably become a holy site for some cult of survivors the protagonist encounters on his journey.
We just need Gretta to do a live speech from the sphere to make it more Green!
Pure art son. I will never see U2 the same again 😂 Good work!
As someone who lives in Vegas I had no idea that homeless people were in the sewers.
Transplant or native?
Topic aside, this video was fucking awesome. Well edited and interesting throughout the whole way through.
I remember going to Vegas and the best part was the home cooked rice meal a relative made for dinner, it was genuinely really great and i liked listening to all their stories from when they were young and not living in Nevada.
