  • Most golfers turn their upper bodies too level too much moving the low point too far behind the golf ball. The Stack and tilt golf swing requires you to tilt your shoulders the correct amount and enough to make consistent ball turf contact with your golf club. In this episode i am talking Tilt no Turn. However, I am still turning but i am moving my body in a 3 dimensional manner Extending, Tilting and Turning:)

      The most important part is just one swing thought.It is just so simple.

    Great video Jess. I've swayed all my life and only yesterday figured out if my swing thought was left shoulder moves towards the ground it keeps me centred rather than swaying. I have just watched this which confirms my theory. Makes perfect sense. Thanks

    Thanks Jess. One of the biggest changes that I've made since adopting Stack and Tilt is to not swing in a way that my arms lead my body. With Stack and Tilt, my hands stay back and I feel like they are driven through the ball when I tilt, then I let my relaxed body follow through. I went from a 120 yard slice off the tees to 230 yards down the middle. All due to you, Nick Taylor, Tom Saguto, and Eric Cogorno. Many thanks.

Fast forward 30 years, I picked up your system and 2 months later, I'm hitting the ball better than I every did, played my first round in 30 years and it felt great, actually used my driver and fairway woods. The original golf digest article for S & T showed two moves. Tilt toward target then tuck your butt under your back. When I do this correctly my arms get whipped into that nice extended post impact position. Less motion and more center face contact!

    Jess,
    It is remarkable you bring this up today.
    I discovered the same kinetic or biochemical result in the last 48 hours.
    My interpretation for correct action is "Left shoulder down, chest bows to the sky" This moves center left and creates a geometry where you are centered and your head does not go right. Your chest will feel bowed and broad, shoulder to shoulder P2,3,4.
    Keep that chest bow and width, shift pelvis left, then turn your extended bowed chest back to the ball P5,6,7,8.
    You can open up as fast as you like and weight will stay left and balanced.
    My head, which as the above Jess video shows, always wants to follow a shallow shoulder turn and slide right P1,2,3. Stays centered if I do this chest extension as my left shoulder goes down. It's all one motion. Then keep that tits up extension, slide left, and turn.down to the ball, bam.
    This was a revelation, and funny you are describing and demonstrating it tonight, Jess.

    Recently started swinging SnT. Lots of focus on weight forward. Ran in to some trouble lately. Tried to focus on shoulder down and it seems I fixed my issues. Seems that thinking about shoulder down, also automatically takes care of weight forward, whereas thinking of weight forward does not automatically take care of the shoulder tilt.
    Thank you from Sweden.

    Jess, great video, it clears up a lot for me. I have struggling for a long time on the this, just like you mentioned in the video. I would turn to start the take away and backswing. The problem is I cannot get back to the ball to hit it. I would stay on my left side and do exactly what you said hit behind the ball or thin it. Tilt is the answer to the $64,000 question and that is "What am I doing wrong?" Thank you sir.

    Jess what is the angle of the waist forward. Shoulders to waist? Is it approximately 45 degrees? The arms go 45 degrees then the shoulders go 45 degrees, while the waist bent forward is 45 degrees?

  • @sanjayverma4068
    @sanjayverma4068 3 роки тому +1

    Hey Jess,
    Thanks for the great video.
    One quick question - what is the weight distribution between both the feet during the back swing? Does the weight shift from the left foot at the top of the back swing ? Or does it stay constant on the left foot during the back swing and then increases during the down swing ?

    • @JessFrankGolfAcademyBocaRaton
      @JessFrankGolfAcademyBocaRaton  3 роки тому +1

      Depends what you need. If you hit behind the ball I always recommend staying forward and more forward. But the extending and tilting automatically shifts weight between the feet.

    Hi Jess FrankThis is Dan Lindstrom the tucking of the chin comes in the comparison Nick Taylor makes of the conventional golf swing And the stack and tilt swing. Real good information let me know what you think. Thank you for your help looking to hear your opinion of his analysis. Thanks againYou’re 71-year-old student in toms River New Jersey.

      Nick Taylor is fantastic! He puts out great information about Stack and tilt! Do you ever get down to the Boca Raton area? I think the tucking of the chin in the conventional swing doesn't allow you to make the proper pivot. Thank you again!

  • @frankcanzanella6753
    @frankcanzanella6753 2 роки тому +1

    I got myself in trouble by extending not only my chest on the backswing but arcing my lower stomach. My sit-up bench overly exaggerated the extension that you advised in your videos. Good for the shoulders but not good around the waist. Tilting on the backswing seems to bring about the weight on the left side. This can be awkward since on the downswing the weight moves to the left side. I don’t want to fall back on to my right side while hitting into the ball.

  • @frankcanzanella6753
    @frankcanzanella6753 3 роки тому +1

    I like the idea of tilting towards the ball. I’ve learned to focus on the use of my legs. All great power in sports is generated by how the lower body is used. In the backswing the right leg straightens and in the downswing the left leg straightens. It’s too frustrating to be simply trying to keep the head steady behind me ball. It’s easier to use the legs to keep the head steady.

      It’s a new season and time to get out there with fellow seniors in NYC. I think I have experienced some left shoulder pain due to trying to raise my hands beyond a normal range. I will not be so concerned with thinking about Jack Nicklaus or Ben Hogan when swinging my golf clubs and only think about myself and a shorter swing until I get back.

      I just started w stack and tilt after losing patience w too much backswing sway and inconsistent shots. What I noticed is that I am more aware of the legs and utilizing them for stability on backswing and for power on downswing if I just think about tilting shoulder down as my only real thought.

    I love the idea , still not exactly sure what your doing when you just tilt , I really would like you to slow down so I can see you tilt , I have had the problem of tilting toward the target , you talked about that and it’s not correct, it looks simple but watching is different than doing . It looks great , having a difficult time duplicating it , Thx Jeff

    • @JessFrankGolfAcademyBocaRaton
      @JessFrankGolfAcademyBocaRaton  3 роки тому +1

      Hey Jeff! You are tilting the left shoulder to the ground in the backswing and staying stacked in the middle. It’s simple once you understand the extension and tilt. Extension and tilt provide enough turn. This gives you the ability to hit the ball 1st then the ground. Hope this helps. Thank you again!

    This is the first video from you that I have seen. I think that you could refine your terminology a bit to eliminate confusion. We turn. Everyone does it. From watching you, I surmise that you are wanting rotation around your center, rotation being the optimal word. The turn you are describing as undesirable appears to be a swaying off the ball. Great video in describing what I see everywhere. This is my father to a tee! When I finally had him more stacked and making better contact, he passed away. At least he finished well.

    When you tilt ,your shoulders turn past 45° automatically! So in fact what you're advocating is "Just concentrate on the tilting down of you left shoulder pointing to the ball; when you extend your arms back behind your right shoulder, your "Turn" is already complete and you will already have turned your shoulders past 50° -and that is enough" . So there is "Turn" in this move, but it happens automatically/ simultaneously as you "Tilt" around the axis of your spine.
    Any comments?

    I'm very new to the Stack and Tilt learning system and I'm already seeing improvements in striking the ball and getting it up in the air and down the fairway. Do you have any advice about a Swing Thought on starting the down swing? My first swing thought that gets the whole motion started, is turning and tiling my lead shoulder down to point at the ball. On the down swing its more or less a blur,and that is were I need a mental descriptive thought to get it the motion started back down. I believe. Thanks Dave PS You are now booked marked and the notification bell has been hit!

    • @normankleinberg5525
      @normankleinberg5525 3 роки тому +1

      @Dave: That's EXACTLY what I was going to ask. Why limit the tilt to the backswing only? To start the downswing just think of "replacing" the lead shoulder with the trail shoulder, you can generate tremendous speed. Of course there is still the issue of keeping the arms straight, etc. plus one more: The "plane" angle. I find I have to experiment with how shallow or flat my shoulder turn is, shorter clubs more vertical, longer clubs flatter, though I get the sense that the feel in general in S&T should be around, rather than up and down. Put down a stick where the ball would be and video yourself swinging, making sure your low point is in front of the stick. You'd be amazed how much you can shift off the ball in the backswing even when you THINK you're staying perfectly centered.

    • @daveytolley
      @daveytolley 3 роки тому +1

      Recently when I have tried to emphasis the downward tilt, if I don't have most of my weight on the lead foot I hit behind the ball and take big chunks of dirt. In my case if i get the club back in the proper tilt and turn that goes along way to hitting a good shot and then letting the down swing more or less take care of it self. Golf for me is a work in progress and has been for many years. ☺

      The tilt and extension give you the turn with the back to the target. Yes you are still turning but most people sway away and never tilt enough hope this helps:))

    You do Have to make a turn, but the turn is made at the spine along its axis. The spine should be placed at the snake-like, the "natural " configuration.
    However the spine could not rotate by itself, it relies on:
    the longitudinal muscles beside the spine and the
    abdomen muscle to make it section by section.
    However, all the body parts beside this core part are collected toward the core part, including shoulders, pelvis, waist, ribs. Only when we tied up the body to be like a solid cylinder, then we got coordination.

    • @JessFrankGolfAcademyBocaRaton
      @JessFrankGolfAcademyBocaRaton  3 роки тому +1

      Oh yes the reverse K swing. Depending on what’s going on with your swing is what you need to apply or feel. I had a reverse k for many years and continued to lose distance to a point where I was driving the ball inly 240 yards and when I applied all tilt no turn my yardage jumped to 280-300 yards.

    • @DASH1ful
      @DASH1ful 3 роки тому

      @@JessFrankGolfAcademyBocaRaton that's just it. the hip becomes an obstruction in the downswing, with the reverse k. i think the most high profile player to get messed up with the reverse k was luke donald. he seems to be coming out of it at the other end now, though. i was born with an extra rib on my left side; which caused a rib inversion, and i had the worst reverse k ever, before i had the rib removed. but, even then my swing had become moulded. i got out of it by cocking my head to the side and then pressing down with the left side of my head. that makes the left hip relax. the key is to get into a level left position. and, though rus advocates the reverse k, when he hits the ball he moves into a level left position before he unwinds in the downswing.
