For this cover of “The Sound of Silence”, I based myself on the wonderful version by "Disturbed". The add-on guitar neck you see it´s called “Reversed Slide Neck (RSN)”: it was invented by me and designed by Davide Serracini. For our vision of the scenario, Meg and I specifically purchased the bench and the street lamp and carried them to the video studios, where we set everything up.

My jaw usually drops whenever I see Luca play. This one however took me on a different field. Calm and free. For 3 minutes and 47 seconds I forgot about the current state of our world. More power to you Luca. You never cease to impress me.

Conveys a powerful warning against indifference
I felt the exact same way when I first heard this rendition of this song. It felt like it could have been a lullaby/love song all in one lol. Pretty remarkable for being Sound of Silence.

If you get a chance you should watch the live version that Disturbed did of this song on Conan. I reckon it will give you chills as well as it’s one of the best live performances, Davids voice is powerfully beautiful.

Totally agree! One of my favorite song of all time. I sang it as a lullaby to my daughter when she was just a couple days or weeks. I mean she is our first child. First kids are always a challenge. You don't know how to handle them, they always cry, so many new things to learn. This song was like a magic. It was calming her down and making her fall asleep each time.
It trully means a lot to me. This cover is one of kind. Luca did marvelous job. I trully love it as much as i love the original song.

Any normal human being can practice to do this, and any normal human being can learn to play a guitar with a slide attachment like that, though it will take a lot (and then more) of practice to play as cleanly as he does, because he's clearly practiced and has great guitar skills.
But there's nothing wild he came up with here. He took an easy song to cover, and has a slide guitar attachment and plays a simplified harmony with only one of the melodic lines from it. Maybe you should stop fetishizing things you don't understand the complexity of? Just because it sounds nice doesn't make it something overly wild, but again, it's a fantastic cover, so go cry because I think it's fantastic...?
Edit: and wow, I went and watched some of his other videos. He does have some actual wild shit that blows this one out of the water. I can see why people love him, but this cover doesn't compare to some of his better ones in terms of the technical ability it would take to play. I think the issue is a lot of non-musicians don't really understand what they're hearing, so they can't differentiate a song that is beautifully played and fantastic but not difficult like this one, with some of his others that are difficult.

Luca is a musical genuis, have been a follower of him for a long time now, and still every new composition he posts takes my breath away with the musical complexity, coordination, pure talent and innovation of incorporating inventive and different methodology. The man has literally re-invented a new and exciting way of playing the traditional guitar for future generations. Would be a life changing experience being in the same room as this man just for one guitar lesson for any guitarist.
I feel like the "g" word is overused, but he is certainly a good guitarist.

Full body chills. This song is magnificent, and you managed to capture its very essence in a way that shows you truly understand and respect the original's meaning and intent. The way the song builds in intensity and urgency and then sharply drops off into silence, the way some notes are cut short and others linger, the way the melody subtly shifts in cadence. You nailed every detail.

What is truly amazing is what electronics has done for the acoustic guitar. So many wonderful effects are possible with the ability to pick up sound and harmonics from one handed hammer on / pull off string techniques. I'm just beginning to discover the amazing possibilities of it. I'm 65 and I'm no professional, hell I'm not even intermediate, but I've been working hard with fingerpicking and classical technique. It is so inspiring to hear such beauty from the acoustic guitar. I have a 12 string, 6 string and a nylon concert classical. I may never achieve the craftsmanship of such performances, but I will go to my grave studying and improving. Thank you for this. It just makes my heart sing.

As Luca is playing I can hear Simon and Garfunkel singing the lyrics. Such a special song and tribute, I really love how he choices to end the song. Yes the cinematography was also top notch, all around an incredible performance. Luca always gets an A+.

It is quite rude and ignorant at the same time. While Luca is an outstanding guitarist and I love his playing and even have a photo with him, a) there are people who play like this and b) it is not the using of extravagant playing that makes a guitarist "the best". Luca doesn't even compose it in the first place, check Tommy Emmanuel , Tobias Rauscher and Jon Gomm for original pieces , Alexandr Misko, Andrew Axenow etc for complex and outstanding covers. Just look around man.

Yes, this is a fantastic cover and I don't want to sound like I'm diminishing it, but the lyrics change the song and make it that much more impactful. The lyrics are brilliantly crafted and give me goosebumps just thinking about them with the melodies (it's a duet after all).
