Crochet Rasta Hat
If you want to learn how to crochet a slouchy hat pattern, then you come to the right place. This Pan African beanie is super easy to make. It all starts with a simple granny square. This hat is perfect for men or women.
We will increase row going around the granny square until we reach our desired size. Then we will stop increasing rows and work in even stitches. This will create the sides of the hat. Once done we will work on the brim of your hat.
Materials
Worsted weight yarn
5.5 hook

You are probably the best person I have ever listened to on a tutorial. I had no question or confusion- so clear in the instructions!! Thankyou
Hey! I just finished the hat, and I'm in love 🖤💚💛❤️‼️ Thank you @LittlejohnsYarn for being such a great instructor 💯🥰🫶🏾
just finished your hat, it was so so easy and your tutorial was super cool to follow. bring on the next project.
Going to make this as a gift. He is going to love this hat. I'm excited to work up this hat. Christmas giving is my fervent to give my homemade gifts. They never believe I made it. At times i can't believe I made it either..... lol
I completely understand. I'm amazed everytime I complete a project too, lol
I love it. My son is gonna be thrilled when I give him a crocheted rastha hat. I'll do me one to. Thank you.
Love this - I have a friend who has long thick hair and this will be perfect for her!
This is a very good tutorial. Explained very clearly and the written instructions also helped a lot. Thank you so much. i look forward to more tutorials from you.
I'm confused. Between the increase rows and switching back to black. Was there some missing instruction? How many rounds should we have before we stop increasing?
I have made the hat and wow the attention surprised me. Thank you
Awesome thank you
You are so easy to follow
I absolutely love the way you teach
Bless you and Thank You for sharing

Thank you so much ❤this helped a lot I made one for my uncle and he loved it
Omg you must have been reading my mind. I was going to add the brim to the hat I'm doing now! I love the granny hat!
Great minds think alike 😎
Can't wait to try this pattern
So glad you like it 🥰
AWESOMENESS Alysha. Making this for my Nephew ❤💙💚💜💛🧡🙂
Sis, this was really good. I have been looking for someone who can do a Rasta hat with detail instructions. I really appreciate it. For those who say the hat was not big enough they just need to add rows. If it's not wide enough you can get yarn that stretches. Peach & Blessings 🇬🇾
Excellent tutorial!
WONDERFUL! Good job❤❤🎉
So nice
Great video,teacher and hat
Pattern superb
I'm all done with this hat except the brim. I'm waiting for my son to try it on. It is one of the easiest pice of crochet work I've ever done. Thank you for sharing this gift!
Love it..thank you
Gurl, as the old country folk use to say, you done learned me something, lol.
I didn’t know that I could slow down the video by going to those 3dots.
In addition, to everything else I’m learning from you. Excellent, I’m excited to do this project. Thank you so much for sharing. This is what you call passing it forward 4sure!
🤣🤣 I'm glad I was able to teach you something
THX I will try that.
Thanks for sharing this in detail. I really need this for my Merchandise as the lady that does the work for me is limited on these skills. Watching all the way from Vanuatu
You are the best ❤️
Thank you
Very nice love it thank you
Thank you so much
Really nice
Awesome hat😊
Thank you 😊
Very cool hat alysha thank you 😊Amanda xx
Thank you 😊❤️❤️
Thsks alot am going to make for my son who have dreads
I made this hat love it. Mine won’t fit over my braids if I make it bigger do I do the brim the same
I saw you added a extra row of Black before you decrease and go to green. Then I saw you changed your hook. Is that wooden hook a size 5 or did you had to go down a size?
Love this but sadly mine came out to small
Very nice. I have locs too wanna make one myself. Question if I want my brim to mw longer do I continue to the same pattern for the brim portion
Good morning! Can this be made without the brim? If so would I just stop before adding the brim? Thank you! Love your videos!
😍 Beautiful, are you using cotton yarn?
nice video cool
Thank you 😊
Cute as always !!
Thank you
So question if you are making this hat for someone who has really long dreads would you just make it longer? Add more rows the the 14 rows?
Hello
What were the measurments of the first Square, the black one??
Thank you
I'm a beginner, been working on this game pattern for 2 months now and I've only been able to make 3 to know stitches before I run out of space. It calls for 4 double stitches,
I am trying to do this with a much thinner yarn, could you possibly give me measurements on round 5 and 6?
Mine is coming out to small. Must be the tension
Could anyone let me know how much wool/yarn is required for this pattern? e.g in meters/grams
I love this. I tried it 5mm hook buttt the brim dropped it to 4mm ..the brim was floppy
Try crochet a plastic wire in it.
What size head does this fit
,how to buy your rasta cap?
I dont know why but mine came out to small. I might need to do more increases.
everyone's tension is different. Do one more increasing rows or go up a hook size. If you use acrylic yarn, then you can save the hat that you already made by steaming the hat aka "killing the fabric'. Spray your hat with water, place a towel over top of it, then iron your hat. Be very careful because once stretched it cannot be unstretched. You'll be able to stretch the hat to your size 🥰
@@LittlejohnsYarn thanks so much
It could be the hook size or your yarn size or maybe u made it tight.
Watch the video. Her black has an extra row before she decreases.
Hi, you said 4 rows of black in the beginning, but I counted 5 rows of black. Is that an error?
Huhuhu I just finished my rasta it's to small.
I don't know what I did wrong but the orginial grany square was about 3 1/2 inches not 5 1/2 inches and that makes a big difference when making a man's hat.
Your tension may be tighter than mine. Go up a hook size. That should work.
@@LittlejohnsYarn thanks! I'll try that!
@@LittlejohnsYarn Thanks for the tip I finished the hat and it fit perfectly. I enjoy your patterns and instruction!
I don't get the last part
What if the persons hair is super long? They need more hat to hold their hair.
What is Rasta? I know it's from Jamaica, but I never understood what it is. Is it a trend or some kind of pop culture or a lifestyle?
@hello myname is your name is race important in this cult? I heard somewhere, sometime ago that wearing and being a member of Rasta if you were not black or hispanic was cultural appropriation
I really really like you 😉
the brim didnt work for me didnt quite understand but other wise perfect
Solw
Used the exact pattern and materials listed and my hat turned out VERY small. Disappointed the pattern doesn't look like the photo
I don't know how I got into the habit but instead of slip stitching on the new round I always chain 3 and start my double crochets from there into the next spot and just join at the end
I will like the word of the pattern please because you going to fast
YOUR VIDEOS ARE SOO HARD TO FOLLOW... IT NOT STEP BY STEP ALL THE WAY THRU FOR A BEGINNER... WORK IS BEAUTIFUL CANT KNOCK THAT
