My mom has worked for JAL for over 30 years and I grew up visiting family in Japan every year flying this route on a 777-300ER. Those journeys are what made me fall in love with aviation as a little kid and I still experience that same childlike joy and excitement boarding these JAL flights as an adult. I've only ever flown in their economy class, so flying JAL First Class long-haul has always been a lifelong dream of mine, so watching these videos are my way of experiencing that. I've been saving up credit card points for years to one day be able to fly this route with JAL's First Class! Hopefully their new A350's will be used on their LAX routes once the last 777's are retired. I'd love to experience that!
That’s how I did it, through credit card points (but finding JAL First Class is getting harder and harder to find). Hope you do fulfill this dream of yours :)
I love that u don't cut out the takeoff/landing part like other youtubers do & there's no annoying music which makes me hear the engine & feel like I'm on board with u, ty
Great video, good photography....you didn't go fast and allowed us to see everything in full. Surprised about the First Class though. I just flew Qatar Business Class from MEL/DOH/ORD and the cubicles are the same as Japan Airlines. I would have expected a larger space in Japan's First Class. I agree with you about the boarding experience as a First Class passenger -- the remote gate just deflates one's expectations. Re: amenity kit -- Qatar offers most of that stuff for free in their Business Class lavatory except for the lip balm and cream. The men's amenity kit has good sized products but in a leather-like black case. All in all, I'm impressed with the Japanese food offerings.
Thank you! Happy to hear I didn’t go too fast. I just recently flew Qatar, the thing that JAL beats QSuites is the width (and it’s a little longer too), but JAL does look a little dated.
Left Norton AFB on a Pan Am Charter from Camp Pendleton in the USMC, my stops were Anchorage a few hours, then Japan , Okinawa, then Da Nang. 1969 only time landing in Japan.
That Japanese menu looks absolutely delicious, and in typical Japanese style, artistically presented. I myself don't touch alcohol anymore. Kiaora, from New Zealand.
I flew to Japan 5-6 years ago and I fell in love with the country. I flew American from Dallas-- but from Japan I went to South Korea and got the Japan Airlines experience.
In March 1986 I flew Flying Tigers 747 from SF to Tokyo then to Osan AB Korea (USAF). We ran into turbulence out of SF which were pretty rough. I guess the Pacific and it's weather patterns do that a lot ! Once we unloaded in Tokyo we headed to Osan Korea served my entire year and never did mid tour (vacation back to the states for 30 days). Was a great flight and year serving in USAF in another country. "Aim High" !!
Yes, I have flown to Japan a couple of times.....on a US Air Force KC-10 when I was in the Air Force. And had to fly back civilian out of Narita (Northwest 747 to Detroit) due to a family emergency. I loved the time I spent there, even though it was DEF not long enough. The people I met were kind, and very nice even though at the time, I knew no Japanese. Hopefully will get to go back soon! Thanks for the wonderful video. And oh yeah.....I wouldn't fly United either. One time was ok, but recently it was....not worth the price savings I got from using another airline.
Escorted to your seat. Hmm, haven’t experienced that for a long time, remember that being normal on many airlines in Business class. The food certainly looked great and as expected the service was obviously very attentive. Thanks for your review.
@@GenkisTravels What was the date of your trip? I flew with Japan Airlines from LAX earlier this year and we flew out of the main TBIT gates. It's quite rare to see Japan Airlines or any other airlines depart from the remote gates. But, I think airlines use the remote gates as a last resort if there are scheduling conflicts with other airlines trying to take the main gates at TBIT. Using the remote gates can help reduce delays and allow a quick turnaround flight, which is what your flight did here. A very rare occurrence but can happen.
Don’t think if I could’ve flown for such a long time in the Air😅 but great Video! awesome subtitles, !! Food look great! Thanks for sharing your experience 💚
The JAL gate at LAX is where WOW Airlines (budget Icelandic carrier) used to be. I remember going to the little market next to the seating area to load up on food and drinks because they charged for everything on the flight. 😂
Love your video. First time (1956) I landed at Haneda it was a USAF Air Base. Extremely primitive at that time. I flew out from Japan from Haneda after my two and a half year tour. I have been back to Japan many times over the past 50 years and landed at Haneda and Narita. Both are great airports compared to LAX 😊
24:00 That is amazing they provide toothpaste and a toothbrush! I can imagine the after taste and bad breath from the food and sometimes need a toothbrush on the plane to remove the bad breath moments.
I couldn't agree with you more about the remote gates taking away from the First Class boarding experience. I've flown to Tokyo on United and ANA. ANA is way much better! Thanks for posting!
Thank you for your nice video. I just flew back from Brazil five days ago on American Airlines coach and it was not very nice. Someday I hope to fly in business class.
