At my target we strive very hard to prevent people from being scammed. We have a limit on the amount of gift cards you can buy in a day and any amount over $250 we talk to about scams going on before we complete the purchase. We’ve prevented several people from being scammed and it warms my heart.

It goes deeper than telecom companies at this point, it goes into government and police in on the scams in India because it is seemingly profitable... if they aren't directly in on these scams they intentionally let these things slide, I remember how hard it was before for the scambaiters to bring justice to these scammers, the centre's went down many times and moved to either other locations or word to the scammers and they don't work scams for a few days or a week

There's nothing more crooked on this planet than a Kolkata cop. Scam centers were making about 60k USD per day about 2yrs ago. Only physical pushback will register in this case. I've read about some scammers being caught by New Delhi & while probably symbolically, they were sent to prison. Some of the scammers have their identities shared on Indian social media sites - everyday, good, decent Indians are frustrated with how they're having to share this awful reputation with scammers, despite living honorably & peacefully & working incredibly hard. Sometimes, scammers ID'd publicly are so devastated, they take a shortcut to that big gift-card rack in the sky. To that, I say LOL (lots of love).
There was once a video I saw of a police officer called out to find an old woman at a gas store's ATM. The shop owner was worried the woman was being scammed and even when the police took the phone away from the lady. The scammer was still trying to tell her to put money in the ATM while the officer that was holding the phone was berating the scammer. Notice they all use Christian Names and most of the time Muslims Hindus Buddhists Sikhs never use real names as it gives the game away. When you stress someone out and adrenaline starts pumping often times people don't think through what sounds off. Especially when talking to someone who sounds like they know what they're doing and are offering you aid to "save" you from this imminent danger. It's disgustingly easy to scam people, especially when people get into desperation mode. If you were at risk of losing everything I imagine the oddities wouldn't occur to you right off because that wouldn't be your main focus. So I called the owner of the grocery store but when he answered, he said he wasn't in town but he would call the store. I was sick to my stomach all day. Scammers will always be a problem in our society. We need telecoms companies to do something about this.
i agree, but it can also stop if our government puts pressure on these countries to make them stop. itll stop so quick if we pressure india government they will quickly start making arrests and giving super harsh penalties to scammers to the point that it will stop
We have highly paid ambassadors & their staff in extravagant embassies in india, puxtan, bangadesh, nigeria, jamaica etc.
Every federal agency
( SSA,

DHS,FTC, OIGs etc)
as well as companies like amazon, spectrum, BBB,Microsoft, Apple, geek squad, PayPal, norton, etc. should force these megalithic embassies to nudge their host nations & shut down scams targeting Americans on American soil.
If our ambassadors start filing police complaints against scammers & demanding their extradition on terrorism charges, the scammers, can be shut down.
It's not a problem in our society. It's a problem in Indian society.
