Same here, I love ALL of the 2nd generation starters. Gen 1 starters are good, but I do think both Gen 2 and Gen 5 starts and its evolutions are my absolute favorites of all time.

In HGSS an old man in Pewter City near the Route 3 entrance gives you a Silver Wing/ Rainbow Wing depending on which game you have which lets you fight the other games Legendary. Which is pretty cool tbh that you can just straight up fight both legends in the one game with no shenanigans or anything.
I'm pretty sure it was in the original games too. It mentions it in the original strategy guide from the year 2000 by Prima. You need to take a relatively strong team since the other legendary is encountered with a level of 70. You could just use the master ball though.
2 months ago, I did a HeartGold Shiny Badge Quest (Johto Only), got 9 shinies with total of 15,798 resets & 25,703 encounters. I only went for Gift/Static mons for the shinies.
Chikorita fans represent! I love grass starters and I love dinosaurs. The Chikorita line will always be among my favorites because it’s the first sauropod Pokémon (my favorite kind of dinosaur).
I watched your Ceebi video to help me cope as I was hunting my own Celebi a month or so ago lol. I want to say it ended up around 12k-15k encounters but I wasn’t literally keeping track, just averaging based on how long I did it and how efficient I’d been. I feel your pain , and now I’m about 10k in for Suicune haha

My hopes are for Chikorita to be one of the starters for Legends Unova (with the other 2 hopefully being Torchic and Popplio) and all the starters have regional variants of /Dragon.

6:00 Yet the PC boxes in SV still don’t show the shiny colors. It would be such a nice “quality of life” change. ConcernedApe made all the pickled veggies and wines be the color of the ingredient in v6.1, and I’m so spoiled by not having to scroll over each one to read the name. But Flabebe’s different colored flowers show in the boxes, so I know they could do it. It is a LOT more Pokemon than the flower fairies, but maybe they could do something, anything to indicate shiny on the boxes. Seeing the color change in the box would be so nice
Using probability, Having 8 (or more) shiny in around 20000 encounter is about 0.37% While lucky, it's actually fairly similar odd to catch Lugia first try with a Pokeball (0.41%)
I've probably had that many resets for my shiny lugia. I got one from soul silver and was in kanto in 2021 before my car accident where I lost the cartridge. I'm back up to Lugia and have been trying to reclaim the lost shiny for ages, using the train rides to and from work, lunch breaks. Months of blue lugia

The GIANT Meganium in New Pokemon Snap is wondrous. It’s the size of a building and has a little friend. MEGAnium not being huge is kinda disappointing
In my experience people tend to generally like Chikorita-lines design... But not the fact that is is just a horrible Pokémon stat and movepool-wise. I also belong to that group. Gib Meganium something to make it actually good. :( edit: Yes, you can get both box legendaries in both games. One you can catch pre-E4 and it will be lvl 45 and other will be catchable after reaching Pewter City and getting a key item (if I remember the process correctly) and going to it nest (The Tin Tower for Ho-Oh and the island cave thing for Lugia)
It really doesn't help that all of the gyms with types that grass is good against are in Kanto and that the two first gyms are resistant to grass. They really set poor Chikorita up for failure which is sad because I really like the Chikorita line.
My first shiny was a poochyena while ev training an absol in emerald waiting to go to my grandma's for easter. I like Chikorita, I just like Cyndaquil more. Not a fan of totodile though.

I cant like umbreons shiny, since in stadium as I assume you know, umbreon has its rings change colors, which makes the shiny unremarkable to me, if they did a white body with gold rings, that would been better, in my opinion of course. What is everyone else's opinion on shiny umbreon, let me know if you can think of any other improvements or if you like it the way it is
I actually fell in love with chikorita when I was young. Did my first ever run with her. Then found out typhlosian and totidile were the goat. So then did a 2nd and 3rd playthrough with them. I'm just glad to know I beat it with the worst starter. Without knowing at all.

I thought that could only work with the legendaries since you need very high level pokemon to accurately know what DVs a pokemon has in gen 1

I actually have a save file of Pokémon Soulsilver with a shiny Meganium. I also have a shiny Mewtwo that I reset for, and it only took me 168 resets.
