You know, with the way the question is worded, Purplecliffe was technically correct, since Samson Oak is called Professor Oak at least once in the Gen 7 games. You know, cuz he's also a Pokémon Professor. You never specified that it was the one that lives in Kanto in the original question, so both Samson and Samuel are correct answers, they just refer to different characters who are both called Professor Oak.
"X and Y were Weenie Hut Jr difficulty" the most spot-on description of Kalos I've heard. 💀My first games were Alpha Sapphire and Y, and I'm proud of myself for knowing the answer to the third question was Diantha. Just playing Alpha Sapphire and Steven's battle and then playing Y and looking at Diantha's team compared to Steven's like "WHY IS YOUR TEAM LIKE THIS?" while still clapping her team like nothing. As easy as Kalos was, it makes up for with the introduction of Mega Evolution, the region's history with AZ's story, the anime (of course), and the region's aesthetic. I enjoyed just sitting on a bench in Snowbelle City while relaxing to the music. Not to mention the design of the Pokémon League building in Kalos is absolutely *ELITE* , and they are aware of it by putting a photo spot in front of it. But as someone who lives in "Unova", it also makes me proud that Gen 5 has the most. I love Gen 5 because since I live in the NYC metro, I look at locations and be like "Hey, I know what this is based off of!" Regarding Alder, his highest-leveled Pokémon when he's restored as Champion is Volcarona at level 77.
Gen 6 would benefit so much from a high quality remake. Give it a good long development period, in house, lots of support, and show us the Kalos we all knew we could have had
And the thing is, Meltan isn't even in Gen VIII, it's from VII! So Cliffe is also wrong with its Gen! People say the best thing about visiting Liberty Island is seeing the giant copper green statue and climb up to its crown, but people of culture know the real reason to visit Liberty Island is to catch a Victini. AND MAD RESPECT FOR LOVING GEN 2'S ART!! It's at this spot where they're still trying their best to convey the shape and form of these monsters with meticulously placed cross-hatching pixels and a more capable color palette. It's like right before the anime made an impact on it and made all subsequent titles take a more cel-shaded look, which doesn't look nearly as impressive as the designs in Gen 2 for a pixel artist. Bravo
@@Charizardslash Pokémon has always gone by the system of a new gen starts with a brand new main series game (with a new region and everything) and everything after that is from it's gen so since meltan came out in Pokémon go and let's go which was before sword and shield it is a gen 7 Pokémon just like how despite only being in a main series game in gen 9 the hisuian Pokémon are gen 8
I got too excited when the Aegislash entry came up. I screamed the answer instantly. Scared my cat. I don’t recall any of the dex entries but that one made sense to me and was confused that not all 4 answered that.
What you have to remember about X and Y is that even though it feels like weenie hut junior, it's because the xp scaling in that game is insane. Diantha was my guess because I knew I was the highest level for the elite 4 of any game in X/Y.
19:00 to be fair, the Unown kidnapped her dad, then were shown to be way more powerful than they actually were by bending reality to the girl's imagination. Since she had been told stories about Entei and her father ran with it to help put her to bed, the phantom Entei in the movie accepted the role of being her father. At the very end of the movie, her father was returned to the ruins he was exploring and we never hear another thing about him or his daughter ever again in the series despite their family being friends with Ash's mom.

All of them got the premise of the Entei movie wrong and it hurts mah soul 💔 Entei was a projection created by the Unown reacting to the strong emotions of the little girl. For the "Whose that pokemon" it could have been like a close up picture of a part of the pokemon to make it a little challenging but pretty fair if you've seen them
the funniest part of guessing Red Fog of Terror as the fake one is that not only is it real, it was also what i remember to be the most traumatic part of Pokemon B2W2. i mean, to be fair i started playing it when i was like 7 (or _maybe_ 9, i cant remember), but still

I know this is edited from a livestream but on the champion level question i said diantha. Gen 6 has higher level trainers to account for the xp share. Because you level up faster, the game needs higher level opponents. I think in gen 7 and 8 they rebalanced it by throwing less trainer battles at you
I actually thought Red in gen II/IV (might cuz that's what I remembered from reading since I've been playing heartgold most recently), he's the highest level trainer in, I think, all games but now that I'm reading on it I'm not even sure Red's a champion(I mean he was but is he now). I got 20/27, would’ve been 21 if I guessed voltorb instead of electrode!
i got 24/207 and ive only played since gen 5
i failed the pokemon #0 one i thought it was missingno
Jack is literally just happy to be there. I have never seen him struggle that hard on ANYTHING.
name a purple Pokemon

I feel like people underestimate just how smart Jacob actually is because he’s so damn good at being an entertainer. Seriously, kinda swooning over here boss
Jacob is smart, but this is a knowledge test, nothing to do with smartness.
Let them have their moment lol
There’s nothing smart about remembering Pokémon facts. Not saying he’s not smart, just that this is a trivia game not a intelligence test.
@@Moony1568 being able to recall information (especially niche information) from ages ago, or to be able to make enough connections to be able to guess your way to the correct answer, is plenty smart in my opinion. Does this mean that, since many savants are just quickly recalling information, that they’re not actually smart? Not to mention of all hills to comment on lol
he also cute
Aegislash also gets the signature move King’s Shield, so the fact 75% of the contestants got it wrong is crazy
I thought it was either zekrom or reshiram because of that story with the chosen hero. but yeah 'king' should've tipped me off
I immediately thought Aegislash but was like there's no way that's right, right?
tbf I guessed Floette because of the AZ plotline
I honestly thought of falinks
I thought it was Zacian
Good lord, Jacob and Jan lightly roasting cliffe was so funny. Honestly love Cliffe and so good spirited and chill
36:37
I was so waiting for it to actually
Be the

🤣😂
ah yes, i remember having jangmo-hugo on my first sun/moon team. good times...
27:23 the idea of ash beginning his adventures with a ho-oh is amazing lmao
You know, with the way the question is worded, Purplecliffe was technically correct, since Samson Oak is called Professor Oak at least once in the Gen 7 games. You know, cuz he's also a Pokémon Professor. You never specified that it was the one that lives in Kanto in the original question, so both Samson and Samuel are correct answers, they just refer to different characters who are both called Professor Oak.
That’s what I was gonna say
I love Gen 5 because since I live in the NYC metro, I look at locations and be like "Hey, I know what this is based off of!" Regarding Alder, his highest-leveled Pokémon when he's restored as Champion is Volcarona at level 77.
nobody asked
@@sweetsweetalib4857 you took the time to reply, so you cared enough.
It was more like Super Weenie Hut Jr.
Lol x was the first game I ever finished and I couldn't even figure out who the fuck diantha was, the game was just that forgettable
Bravo
Meltan is referred to as a ??? Pokemon
Gen 2 aesthetic is amazing.
Gen 2 has the best art style easy
@@techmark3665 except no one actually accepts that, whereas people actually accept Melmetal being gen 7 and Hisuians being gen 8.
Diantha was my guess because I knew I was the highest level for the elite 4 of any game in X/Y.
cliffe putting magneton after reading "mini-noses" is just so fitting and so freaking funny
This was so much fun!!! Loved the energy between everyone I laughed so much. Also as a self-proclaimed gen 5 buff™ getting all the gen 5 answers right (except the poke studios one..... Whoops) felt very validating lmao. A super entertaining video!!!
(also, the yellow suit does look great. Big fan :D)
i knew that the Knight was fake bc i played through pokestar studios literally the day before I watched this 😆
I got 16.5. The half point comes from Jigglypuff from above. I felt like I deserved half a point for that extremely obligatory and needed answer.
Having purplecliffe in a Pokémon quiz is like having a baby take the sat
They forgot to add a point for Jacob when he was sitting at 6 points, so Jacob won with a lead of 2.9999999 more points than Pokemon Challenges.
I spend way too much time in pokestar studios, it's been 10 years and I instantly recognized and remembered the stories of the titles when he mentioned them
Yeah me too lol, I remember trying to 100% it since I had the hardcover guidebook, still do actually
28:24 You know, Professor Oak was kind of a jerk inviting 4 kids to get starters when he only had 3 good ones and then the problematic mouse
My brain went straight to Tyrantrum for the Aerodactyl dex entry. Got most of the rest right though, so I'm happy.
14:45 I somehow knew that was Gold's Girafarig entry specifically. Probably because I played that game to death as a kid. I missed most of the other ones, though lmao.
Even g2 is my favorite, I could picture it but couldn't for the life of me remember the name
There’s playing dumb, there’s actually being dumb, and then there’s whatever is going on on Cliff’s head
Jan doing the ad read at the end was perfect
To be fair about the ??? type, it's been removed from the games since Gen 5 - Curse is now Ghost - but "currently" wasn't included in the typed question, only what you said out loud, so I'd say props to them for considering it lol
I imidiatley thought of shadow Pokémon too, since he didn’t say currently
There was the unused "Bird" type in Gen 1 as well, though I hadn't even thought of "Shadow" and now I'm kicking myself.
Wouldn’t the affect of burn up count as a ??? type?
@@spookyscarylamppost3431 Burn Up *removes* the Pokemon's Fire typing, making the Pokemon _typeless,_ It doesn't replace the Fire Type with the ??? type. So by technicality based on the framing of the question, Typeless wouldn't qualify as a Type.
You can still use it if you eliminate Arcanine fire type with a move that burns your type
The fact that his favourite gen is 2 after having made almost every single question about gen 5 is such a mixup
I love the trivia videos! I hope you get the opportunity to host more in the future~
I like how CJ said the Pokestar Studios one would've been hard and that was one of the few up to that point I knew instantly (after he give the choices).
the real answer is none because pokestar studios isnt in black and white its in the sequels
@@pikminman13 I was thinking the same thing
every time a youtube video mentions pokestar studios i feel like i’m the only one who actually played it lol
@@itssoclover # 0001 Yeah Pokestar wasn't too bad as a side thing. I only hate it because it was mandatory to do in order to progress they story. Same with Join Avenue.
Me and my friend like to do this, where we ask each other random Pokemon questions (I'm normally the one answering) and it's pretty fun. Especially when you get into full arguments over what a certain ability does.
"What does Illuminate do"
The one mf who only plays showdown:
Fun fact, a couple of years before the Pokémon of the year poll there was a japan only pokemon poll where greninja had also won back then and simisear got last
Simisear is above Greninja in MY HEART!
I've never played black and white, but when the pokestar question came up I guessed "magical knight because that sounds boring and generic" and somehow got it right lol.
I guessed it because I remembered the giant woman, memers use Invaders to mess with people who never played the node, and Red Fog of Terror just sounded more like a movie
I love how Jan doesn't even care, he is quiet as fuck, I bet doing a nuzlocke in the background.
19:58 There are technically 20 types, with the bird type in generation 1, which is only on glitch Pokémon such as missingno.
There's more glitch types as well, if you wanna count those
Bird type is functionally the same as flying type so it's only really different in name
@@alexandergordon648 it's not, though. It has no weaknesses, resistances, or immunities, hence why you can use ground-type moves on Missingno.
im prett sure theres limitless amount of glitch types all with their own resistances and weaknesses?
And technically 21 now, with the new Tera all type
All of them got the premise of the Entei movie wrong and it hurts mah soul 💔
Entei was a projection created by the Unown reacting to the strong emotions of the little girl. She mistook Entei as her father because he used to read her stories from a book of legends and she said he was just like Entei, with the father responding "Well, then I am Entei."
Also voiced by Dan Green of Yu-gu-oh fame
Finding out mimikyu ranked higher than pikachu in a popularity poll made me irrationally happy.
For the "Whose that pokemon" it could have been like a close up picture of a part of the pokemon to make it a little challenging but pretty fair if you've seen them
@risingangel0126 this video came out a year ago but I have to comment the manga cover of hokage naruto goes hard asf
I didn't know alpha and cliff would have such synergy!
the funniest part of guessing Red Fog of Terror as the fake one is that not only is it real, it was also what i remember to be the most traumatic part of Pokemon B2W2. i mean, to be fair i started playing it when i was like 7 (or _maybe_ 9, i cant remember), but still
I actually LIKED PokeStar Studios, so I recognized it IMMEDIATELY
This was so fun and funny to watch 😆 CJ always comes through with the bangers
When Cliffs gave his answer for the original koffing and weezing names i started dying bc tight after Cj said the question i said out loud the same thing Cliffs gave as answers 😂
i like how this looks like one of those "which one doesn't belong" things we used to do in school
Cliffe taking a sip of water during the Koffing and Weezing question was so good
when purplecliffe is there you'd think from how many shiny randomizer fails he's had that he'd have learned something but nope he's still the cynthia, gardevoir, and lopunny lover we all know
Cliffes answer for the Kommo-o questions had me on the floor omg
OMFG I love the host, love the show, love the participants and love everything about this video!
I had the hardest pop-off when my best guestimate for how many Pokemon was 898.
I love this series that I've spent my whole life playing.
I said 897. Considering he said within 5 counts, I also popped off.
Samson should have counted for the Professor Oak question because it didn't specify which Professor Oak. There is Prof. Samuel Oak in Pallet Town and Prof. Samson Oak in Alola
doo u think cyja approached alpha first and called him a poketuber and alpha just decided to roll with it or did alpha hear it from his good friend jaiden and feel indignant that he wasnt considered a poketuber
According to CJ, Alpha was the first person he contacted.
Alpha is such a cool dude and good friends with CJ he probably didn't even mind and just ran along with the joke
cj and jacob been friends for a while
I knew the pokestar studios one immediately. I loved that game, and I made all the movies
I have played more Gen 5 than any other game and I have never once noticed that every single Pokémon from that Gen is unique to its predecessors
That's actually really cool and only makes me appreciate the game more
"What does prehistoric mean???"
"BEFORE HISTORY!"
I thoroughly enjoyed this video, I would love more collabs with these guys!
I don’t usually watch long videos but this was so entertaining. Keep up the good work
I honestly want more of this but i feel itd be to hard considering it takes time from all the creators. Either way this is so cool id love to see more bs pokemon trivia even though this was probabbly a one off video
Also wiki mentions how Diantha is the highest level champion so..
@@kofimoon-vv-8279 The champion in those games is Lance.
@@SupermewX300 That for sure but Red is just.. Confusing in this matter
@@kofimoon-vv-8279 How is he confusing? There are plenty of postgame trainers with higher level pokemon than champions.
@@SupermewX300 I don't see how that would matter in this? The point is not that he's a trainer higher leveled than a champion, it's that if he's counted as a champion or not
I love how they started saying they couldn't have fractions of points and ended with the most ridiculous decimals
Girafarig was the only one I was confused on because Alolan Exeggutor is the same way
This video (about 12:00) made me realise I’m older than CJ, and now i’m wondering if this is what growing up feels like. I just turned 23. I’m not used to people I watch on the internet being younger than me. This is strange and I don’t like it
Ahhh the age old question of “when will I be an adult?” 😂
13:32 “Almost everyone got it right.”
Jack, a look of horror spreading across his face:
the Aegislash one was hard. Honestly could have been Calyrex, the steeds, Zacian or Zamazenta, AZ Floette maybe, hell even Zekrom or Reshiram
14:37 Jan is such a savage. Making Cliffe the butt of all jokes here.
Please keep these going - they are so entertaining and fun to watch. God Bless ✨️
34:50 i spat EVERYWHERE, CJ not knowing who Bong Joon-Ho is made it even funnier lmao
With the sheer amount of gen 5 trivia you frontloaded the quiz with, I felt like that was the natural answer on question 8
Cjya actually rocks the shit out of that yellow suit
Makes me want one so bad
I’m proud of CJ.
The true poketwink, we all know Jan is only here because he’s feeling that yellow suit
